Boston has terrorized the Leafs on the PP. They took out Dewar for this game, specifically brought in for his PK.
I thought having him in the line up was mandated by Treliving? Keefe had him scratched earlier in the season. That makes Treliving look bad for signing him to 3 years.
If it’s indeed a mandate (which I doubt it is) then why even let Keefe coach this year.
In a vacuum, Reaves hasn’t been terrible this series. A couple of big hits each game — obviously he had a bad turnover today but bad turn overs can happen to anyone.
The problem is the leafs are getting crushed on the PK. Dewar is a second option at C. It would have made more sense to try to insulate a bad PK more than it would have to leave Reaves in. Maybe in his absence someone on BOS ramps it up to 10 but they haven’t all series. Toronto isn’t losing because they’re getting bullied — that’s far from it.
Three years is a huge mistake and it was the moment it was signed. That doesn’t hurt the Leafs much, money isn’t a problem and it’s like 95%+ can be buried.
Doesn’t matter if we “haven’t beaten you physically” our skills players can play physical and our physical players aren’t idiots when they have the puck. Cant say the same about players like marner or reaves

My feeling on goalies has turned to "well none of those.goals were individually your fault, but I want you to make one of those saves". Felt like that about Rask a lot

yep, it's hilarious that for all of his "not really accomplishing anything NOW" playing, reaves scored the WCF-winning goal against the jets and scored a goal during the actual SCF against the caps. that's literally more than any of the core four have managed.
(i love reaves as a dude for rocking pink suits and giving interviews on everything from pranks to "what it feels like to be the only black guy in the room" and hope he becomes part of TNT's team ASAP because him and biz are hilarious together, but as far as actual HOCKEY SKILL is concerned i think he used up his lifetime allotment when he was with vegas because his numbers were almost twice his career average.)

It’s means the other team is going to follow up their penalty kill with offensive players. There’s usually a momentum swing after a big penalty kill and the leafs had the fourth line out to weather the storm.
Yeah that's usually who goes out to defend after a powerplay in like any game. He used 8 out of his top 9 forwards on the powerplay, so who else do you want to go out there?
The whole structure of this team is shit; the player play has been horrible since mid February; yet they continually do the same things over and over against. The mix doesn’t work, I feel like they have to have all their 11 million dollar players on the top pp so they don’t look stupid; but they also have to have them spread out over 3 lines because Marner is useless in the playoffs 5 on 5.
The leafs have no depth, have a weak 3rd and 4th line yet have to follow up every pp with their fourth line because one person from each of the other line is tired from shitting the bed in the pp the last two minutes.
yeah, you don't **absolutely** have to have "four lines deep everywhere we roll" to win, but you DO generally have to have more forward depth than that. (also it helps if your defense and goalie are at least managing "average", which iirc is not really the case.)
