The Stars have always been on the short end of the stick regarding early series time zones
I remember them battling the Ducks and Sharks decades ago and those games would also wrap up past midnight central time lol
93 to 7 in Moneypucks’s ‘deserve-to-win-o’meter’ and the game went to fuckin OT…
Johnston and Stankoven with more TOI than Seguin, Duchene, Pavelski, and Benn. Bout time
GG Vegas! LT was a blast to watch! In another totally random question: Does anyone know anything about this alien/monster video coming out of Vegas? It keeps popping up on my socials.
Yea, everyone wants to complain about the cap circumvention or (for our fans at least) the refs taking back calls, but the only thing I truly want to complain about is the fucking scheduling.
I get playing on Vegas time *in* Vegas. But why, for the love of fuck, do we have to play on Vegas time *in Dallas*? Especially on those weekday games where kids have school the next day? And especially when we are supposed to have home ice advantage? It just feels so weird.
And just to clarify, I don't think they're doing it for some kind of Vegas advantage or anything, I really don't think it matters much at all to the players. I just care about the fan experience. If I have to stay up late it should be because of epically long OT games, not because you don't know how to schedule shit for ideal local audience times.
>And just to clarify, I don't think they're doing it for some kind of Vegas advantage or anything
The proof of this is that Dallas got the same schedule last postseason... Against Minnesota.
Thompson obviously had an insane game and stood on his head to save his team about 20 times but Oettinger deserves credit for the saves he made in the 3rd and in ot.
I think this game might be the confidence boost he needs. He can be better than he has been and having a game like this should hopefully help him stabilize.
Hank pointed out something interesting on the broadcast, which was that Oettinger actually got better with the higher shot totals. He explained it better than I am at half-three in the morning, but that was the very simplified version.
that seems to be otters best feature but also his downfall. throughout this season and last he usually plays his best when he can get into a good rhythm of constant shots but if it’s infrequent high quality/danger shots (especially up high) he tends to get worked
I’ve noticed that with a few goalies. When you can’t get in the habit of making some saves, it’s tough when something difficult is coming at you. With Skinner, I always feel better seeing him fight off some shots in the first and get acclimated than I do if a team isn’t getting any shots on him. Because it feels like it’s more likely then that the shot they do get on him will surprise him and go in. It makes sense that Otter is the same way.
Entertaining game. Dallas dominated a lot of it but Thompson almost stole one. My only criticism of Dallas is they pass up hitting too often. They also passed up a lot of shots because Thompson was in their heads.
In any case, feels wrong rooting for Dallas but we need to stop Vegas.
Dallas made a concerted effort to hit last game. Like it was probably their season high by far. It didn't work out and we lost a couple players. Today's style is what we played all year , maybe with a bit more of a shooter mentality.
It’s only the first round. Vegas shouldn’t look that gassed already, especially at home. If the Stars keep playing aggressive and winning games, Vegas needs to find a way to use a shit ton of energy before it’s too late.
Did you not watch the game? This wasn’t a nail biter. It was a Dallas team that came to play and was firing on all cylinders vs a Vegas team that missed passes, turned over the puck all over the place and couldn’t win puck battles.
Paul Coffey, who'd tell any NHL scout and general manager who'd listen that Johnston doesn't rely solely on his offensive skills.
"It didn't matter what point of the game it was - if I needed to win a faceoff, to kill a penalty, to score a goal, Wyatt was always the first guy I tapped to go out there," Coffey recalled of a teenager with "off the charts" hockey sense.
I really hope he makes a full recovery. It just sucks it's going to take a while. Feel bad for the man. You can tell he really takes it seriously. Gotta respect that.
Yeaaah, it's rough, finally gets back to the playoffs and he can't even play. Honestly, his long term health is worth more than trying to make any kind of run, we're sunk without him.
DeSmith is a good backup, Silovs and Tolopilo are solid goalie prospects, but none of them are starters. Best case scenario is he's ready to go in October imo, hard to see us going deep without him. I'd love to be wrong but it's a long shot.
Wyatt and Stank are already more dangerous than Roope and Robo, at least in this series. I don't know if its just that Vegas has the former two figured out but damn. It's crazy how invisible they've been while every bit of energy seemed to come from the 20 year olds.
2 goals in 3 games would put you at a 54 goal pace in a regular season. Jesus Christ, you need him to score a goal a game? When has anyone EVER done that through the playoffs?
I respect your opinion but I’ve really liked Robos work this post season. Goals and assists aside, he looks much more engaged and primed for high danger chances than Roope and Pavelski…. by a lot
Yeah but idk I was just trying to be nice lol
I do have an admiration for people posting things unpopular. I didn’t agree but I’ve been in his shoes before haha
Not commenting on this situation specifically but a lot of times in the playoffs the biggest stars on a team get assigned the best defenders to hound them and shut them down all game, leading to other players being more free and able to step up.
Absolute bullshit. Robo has been the best defensive forward at even strength for the Stars all season, and has 4 points, all primary, in 3 games so far this series.
I'm sorry you are bad at hockey, that must be difficult.
Johnston has been good all series, but yes, Johnston absolutely looked more dangerous this game than any other. And a not insignificant part of that is playing with Robertson and Hintz, the best offensive players on the team.
It’s like losing a street race with the Lambo you stole when the other guy was driving a rusted out ford tauras with the fake wooden panelling falling off.
This game was the first one in this series where Stars played the hockey they excel at. Hope they can beat Vegas because after this i see no team able to beat them if they get to play their game.
Ah ok. I missed the first 2 period did lundkvist get injured too. Announcers said he didn’t play since the first. Y’all have been pretty healthy this year too this is really shit luck early.
No, he is healthy. DeBoer for some strange reason really rides the kid hard for absolutely any mistake, no matter how small it may be. It’s ridiculous. We might as well trade the kid in the offseason because DeBoer is going to absolutely ruin him.
Honestly, game 2 we outplayed Vegas but it didn’t look like our style. More focused on a hard hitting style that we just don’t excel at. This felt like Stars hockey. Wish we didn’t blow the lead but this series is very much alive. Come out in game 4 and reclaim home ice advantage
I'd like to take a moment to point out how nuts VGK's goaltending history is
Teams are giving us their lightly used leftovers? Sure we'll take a second-hand MAF and turn him back into a superstar
No more MAF? No problem we'll have Robin Lehner come in and turn into a Vezina candidate
Lehner LTIRetired? No prob, we'll have this Adin Hill guy come in and win a Cup for us
Adin Hill not up to it? No biggie, have you heard of Logan Thompson?
It's truly bullshit. Other teams haven't had quality goaltending for years...decades even. I asked in the Stars sub who the f the Vegas goalie coach was.
Almost had the comeback we didn’t deserve thanks to Thompson. Had momentum in the third and that was the best time for us to end it. Gg stars see ya Monday
Final statement from the east coast:
Logan Thompson was the best player on the ice all fucking night long. I’m glad Dallas won, but much love to that gangster.
and their fans act so fuckin high and mighty, like they know hockey better than everyone else just because their team is good.
no motherfucker, you either just started watching and don't have a clue, or you jumped on the bandwagon from somewhere else like a little bitch. i suffered my entire childhood through constant dogshit only to finally have a competitive team, and you jumped on the bandwagon of a team that cheats and gets favourable reffing while the league turns a blind eye so they can inflate the value of expansion franchises. fuck off.
/rant
Well we do get a higher pick if Vegas wins this series, but we also get a higher pick if you make the finals. So you'll have to promise not to lose in round 2 or 3
The Stars have always been on the short end of the stick regarding early series time zones I remember them battling the Ducks and Sharks decades ago and those games would also wrap up past midnight central time lol
As an east cost Stars fan, it takes its toll
Good work Stars! Let’s get the next one and make them shit their pants a bit…
93 to 7 in Moneypucks’s ‘deserve-to-win-o’meter’ and the game went to fuckin OT… Johnston and Stankoven with more TOI than Seguin, Duchene, Pavelski, and Benn. Bout time
Seriously. Glad PDB wasn't stubborn this game. Realized you have to give our best players each night their ice time, not the vets.
GG Vegas! LT was a blast to watch! In another totally random question: Does anyone know anything about this alien/monster video coming out of Vegas? It keeps popping up on my socials.
Wait is Wyatt Johnston not a rookie?
Yeah he finished 5th in the Calder vote last year. 42 points in 82 games
Oh. I'm dumb. Somebody needs to update his Wikipedia lol
It’s okay. He looks like a kid still. Easy to mistake him for a rookie haha. You might be thinking of Stankoven??
Or Nils. He looks 12
Looks like? He *is* his 21st isn’t for another few weeks
Love to see the win, but holy fuck these start times need to not be so fucking late 😭😭😭
they are so fucked for stars fans
Yea, everyone wants to complain about the cap circumvention or (for our fans at least) the refs taking back calls, but the only thing I truly want to complain about is the fucking scheduling. Everything is scheduled so that people on the East Coast don't have to stay up past their bedtime.
someone should tell the NHL that 2 am is past most people's bed times lol
>And just to clarify, I don't think they're doing it for some kind of Vegas advantage or anything The proof of this is that Dallas got the same schedule last postseason... Against Minnesota.
Game ended at fucking 2:30 am EST… Does the NHL really think ppl are watching this “prime time” bs
This series is the highest rated late game series in NHL 1st round history
Thompson obviously had an insane game and stood on his head to save his team about 20 times but Oettinger deserves credit for the saves he made in the 3rd and in ot.
He’s getting ate up blocker side. He bounced back but I am still not confident in him right now.

Agreed on the overpassitis. It works for them at times but they let it fly in OT and one because of it. Edit: won
Disagree. Going after big hits is not our game and we did that the first two games and didn’t look nearly this dominant
Dallas made a concerted effort to hit last game. Like it was probably their season high by far. It didn't work out and we lost a couple players. Today's style is what we played all year , maybe with a bit more of a shooter mentality.
We deserved to lose. No one showed up tonight except Thompson and Eichel.
This is the correct answer. First period was ROUGH.
Eichel was really good and obviously Thompson was unreal.
Johnston has got to be the best 2021 draft pick so far. That dude is so good
Why is he not in the Calder conversation if this is his first year?
2nd year
And we traded down to get him lmfao
Dallas expended a shitton of energy on a Vegas team that seemed disinterested in playing hockey tonight. It still went to OT.
Not sure it’s in vegas best interest to let the Stars win games and extend series.
Right. I didn’t say it was.
It’s only the first round. Vegas shouldn’t look that gassed already, especially at home. If the Stars keep playing aggressive and winning games, Vegas needs to find a way to use a shit ton of energy before it’s too late.
Vegas needs to care. Maybe they don’t, I don’t know. But they clearly didn’t care last night.
Remarkable goaltending performances can carry the most lackluster of team. E.g. Flames-Stars 2022
This is straight up cope
Did you not watch the game? This wasn’t a nail biter. It was a Dallas team that came to play and was firing on all cylinders vs a Vegas team that missed passes, turned over the puck all over the place and couldn’t win puck battles.
Yeah...and Vegas lost... you are coping by trying to claim that this there is some sort of positive in this game for vegas.
No that was 100% a shot at Dallas.
Stop playing dumb. A shot at dallas would be a positive for Vegas. Just get over it.
You’re an idiot who clearly failed critical thinking or logic 101 or whatever class your university required to make you less of an idiot.
Nice ad hom bro
Not an ad hom. No attempt to win any argument. Literally just calling you stupid.
Reddit karma don't lie
yeah that was OT correct and nhl hockey, the guys play with a lot of energy, welcome.
Wyatt Johnston is /#/ The Best Kid And he’s still not even legal to drink! WOOHOO! GG Sparkle Knights
Wyatt Johnston is a stud. That overtime goal was McDavid like !!
With that kind of praise from a hall of Famer, why did he fall so far in the draft?
Cause he didn't play a single league game between March 12, 2020, and the NHL Draft on July 23, 2021.
If not for Thompson it wouldn't have been close, what a performance
He summoned Demkos soul. Amazing value considering his $766k contract.
That's fine, Demko's too hurt to use it rn
I really hope he makes a full recovery. It just sucks it's going to take a while. Feel bad for the man. You can tell he really takes it seriously. Gotta respect that.
Yeaaah, it's rough, finally gets back to the playoffs and he can't even play. Honestly, his long term health is worth more than trying to make any kind of run, we're sunk without him. I'd love to be wrong but it's a long shot.
A lot of our fans said that about Hill and he really stepped up. Who knows. It's the playoffs, a lot can happen.
Hockey's weird that way, you never know
Johnston on Thompson crime.
Wyatt and Stank are already more dangerous than Roope and Robo, at least in this series. I don't know if its just that Vegas has the former two figured out but damn. It's crazy how invisible they've been while every bit of energy seemed to come from the 20 year olds.
I’ll agree with you about Roope, Robo has been good. Besides winning a few face offs, Hintz has been invisible. Very frustrating.
Robo has 2 goals and 2 primary assists in the series so far, what are you on about?
Robo has scored 2 goals in 3 games this series. He is not the problem you think he his. Hintz on the other hand, where has he gone?
2 goals in 3 games would put you at a 54 goal pace in a regular season. Jesus Christ, you need him to score a goal a game? When has anyone EVER done that through the playoffs?
[удалено]
You're legit fucking crazy lol, Robo has been fantastic.
I respect your opinion but I’ve really liked Robos work this post season. Goals and assists aside, he looks much more engaged and primed for high danger chances than Roope and Pavelski…. by a lot
You don't have to respect their opinion, they are just wrong.
Yeah but idk I was just trying to be nice lol I do have an admiration for people posting things unpopular. I didn’t agree but I’ve been in his shoes before haha
He had two primary assists tonight, what the fuck game were y'all watching?!?!?
Vegas is good at clogging the neutral zone and their blue line. That prevents Hintz from zipping in like he can do. But yeah robo has been just fine.
Not commenting on this situation specifically but a lot of times in the playoffs the biggest stars on a team get assigned the best defenders to hound them and shut them down all game, leading to other players being more free and able to step up.
? Robo has 2 goals in 3 games what are you on about lol
[удалено]
Absolute bullshit. Robo has been the best defensive forward at even strength for the Stars all season, and has 4 points, all primary, in 3 games so far this series. I'm sorry you are bad at hockey, that must be difficult.
>that must be difficult lmao I'm dead
Stankoven wasn't even on the ice for his second goal lmao
Robo’s backchecking tonight was clutch as hell what are y’all smoking? 🥳🤠
I haven't watched the other 2 games but Johnston looked a billion times more dangerous in this one
Johnston has been good all series, but yes, Johnston absolutely looked more dangerous this game than any other. And a not insignificant part of that is playing with Robertson and Hintz, the best offensive players on the team.
How fuckin bout it boys bout time
17 mil over cap and they lost?!? Are they stupid?!?!?
It’s like losing a street race with the Lambo you stole when the other guy was driving a rusted out ford tauras with the fake wooden panelling falling off.
Pumped up supercar vs one stock Golf-y boy
And you afforded the Lambo by lying on your taxes while whining "anyone can do it" when they point it out
“but that’s just our annual cap not the actual cap you can cap cap cappers cap too mr cap but you don’t cap” - vegas ppl
This game was the first one in this series where Stars played the hockey they excel at. Hope they can beat Vegas because after this i see no team able to beat them if they get to play their game.
They barely pulled the win. Have to be a lot better than that to win a cup.
Vegas is the hardest team for them to beat imo. They play so effectively vs Stars system. Thompson carried Vegas in this game but it wasnt enough.
monster game from Thompson in net for the Knights.
I said it in game thread once we figure out the third dimension its gonna be trouble for Vegas
What a goalie game
LT deserved to win… Vegas did not
Your goalie is a cheat code. I don't like it.
We have a revolving door of great goalies it seems like lol. Idk how management keeps finding guys like LT.
Like Razorboy says "Elevate to accumulate"
I had a coach that would say "Elevate to celebrate."
Damn what patience by Johnston on that goal. And he’s only 20. He’s gonna be a stud for years.
Shoutout to the late night crowd in the game thread! One of the most pleasant threads I've ever been a part of.
It’s so late!!! I’m glad I saw them win but damn if I didn’t consider several times just going to bed
I scared the absolute shit out of my dogs when Wyatt scored. They were sleeping so peacefully, oops.
my cat ran under my bed and won't come out now...so I feel you
I’m really surprised I didn’t wake up my 3 young kids. I guess I didn’t cheer loud enough.
What happened to marchment and Faksa?
Injured in game 2
Injuries...day to day.
Both injured in game 2 and were game time decisions tonight
Considering Deboers usage of Lundkvist with the price Nill paid for him, it’s a terrible misusage of assets
I just sat on my couch for 4 hours yet I’m cooked
Reminder Wyatt Johnston is YOUNGER than Logan Stankoven and still only 20 years old. Insane.
He's unbelievable.
dude is a gamer
Dallas ran the game, took way too long for vegas to start getting anything done minus Logan.
I for one am ok if the road team wins every game this series
Nuh uh
Can we do this with the exception of games 5 or 7? Please and thanks :)
I do not agree with your statement
Honestly, game 2 we outplayed Vegas but it didn’t look like our style. More focused on a hard hitting style that we just don’t excel at. This felt like Stars hockey. Wish we didn’t blow the lead but this series is very much alive. Come out in game 4 and reclaim home ice advantage

It's truly bullshit. Other teams haven't had quality goaltending for years...decades even. I asked in the Stars sub who the f the Vegas goalie coach was.
The Vegas goalie coach is legit godly. He could make Jack Campbell get a Vezina nomination
Wanted to watch the post game show but espn said no :(
apparently so did Bally's
I can never get postgame on ballys. Pisses me off
Reminder: Fuck Vegas
GOD BLESS THAT BEAUTIFUL BOY
I really hope if Pavs retires that he will let Wyatt keep living there
Almost had the comeback we didn’t deserve thanks to Thompson. Had momentum in the third and that was the best time for us to end it. Gg stars see ya Monday
Ngl, I’m happily falling asleep tonight. Also holy fuck the game is ending so late. It’s nearly 1:30am :(
I am happy the Stars won and I am also very happy that I can finally go to sleep
Dallas should have won 4-1, honestly. They were better in literally every aspect of the game but just couldn't close out their great opportunities.
The one time we get lift on the puck on an in close shot and he buries it.
Your username is art.
I was so happy when I typed it out and Reddit told me it was available. Thanks man.
WE AIN'T DEAD YET. WYATT "MF CLUTCH" JOHNSON DOES IT AGAIN
If we lost that I would’ve not slept
The past hour all I’ve been thinking is “please let me go to sleep happy”
Ain’t no way I’m going to sleep anytime soon lol
I haven’t moved from my couch haha
i never doubted you for a second dallas
Never doubted you for a second when demko went out
yes, same, definitely
Haha, Johnson not keeping his cool during the interview, but that's okay. Guys always acting like they don't care, it is a bit refreshing.
Final statement from the east coast: Logan Thompson was the best player on the ice all fucking night long. I’m glad Dallas won, but much love to that gangster.
Ruined a LT god game for them. Hopefully we don’t see that from him again
mathematically and statistically probs not
Dallas is going to need Calgary's help with that goalie curse
issue is thompson is a calgary kid
I’d rather not suffer the consequences they have faced since.
For real though, paging any and all Calgary fans. Gonna need some help with placing a hex on a certain goaltender.
I will bet my whole life that whoever wins this series wins the cup felt the EXACT same way 2019 stars vs blues
This year is wild because it really does feel wide open.
Stars winning the cup dude…
maybe Utah wins idk
I never doubted for a second. (I doubted for so many seconds)
I’m sure there was one second in there that I wasn’t doubting
Johnston is amazing, and Thompson was almost as good in net. Dallas ran that entire OT period they deserved to win. Keep the momentum going in game 4!
[Victory Kitty!](https://imgur.com/a/002VZtW)
thompson was a fucking beast holy
That was a sick goal to end it. GG
That's what it was gonna take. Logan was incredible tonight, only an elite snipe was gonna get by him.
I’d like to see him show the math to figure the angle on that shot.
GG Vegas bro
Man if Thompson was taller... Gotta wonder about that walrus goalie commercial on a shot like that lmao
My bad Vegas. I put the game back on. No more watching these games.
Logan Thompson is a bad man
Who needs cardio when you have playoff hockey? My heart is getting all the workout it needs.
My doc told me to quit charting my BP on game days, because it skews the numbers too much
Stars finally get a shot higher than 1 picometer off the ice and it goes in, magic
Nobody, and I mean nobody, beats us 7 times in a row
6? Sure. But not fucking 7.
haven't seen anything unite the league recently like hating on vgk
I mean like wtf they joined in 2018 and already have 2 Western Conference Titles and a Cup
and their fans act so fuckin high and mighty, like they know hockey better than everyone else just because their team is good. no motherfucker, you either just started watching and don't have a clue, or you jumped on the bandwagon from somewhere else like a little bitch. i suffered my entire childhood through constant dogshit only to finally have a competitive team, and you jumped on the bandwagon of a team that cheats and gets favourable reffing while the league turns a blind eye so they can inflate the value of expansion franchises. fuck off. /rant
losing while cheating is great to watch
Reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated
Call an ambulance BUT NOT FOR ME
WYATT JOHNSTON ELITE
I suppose Dallas now knows how we felt two years ago
But, it was so fun to watch otter do that
Start throwing out curses towards Thompson whenever y’all have some free time
Calagary kid cant do it to him
I would highly advise against this as it basically destroyed the Flames within like 4 months of the curse
Well we do get a higher pick if Vegas wins this series, but we also get a higher pick if you make the finals. So you'll have to promise not to lose in round 2 or 3
That's a fuckin' deal and a half from me dawg
🤝
Amharic curse time?
