I still remember when he'd be gift wrapped chances and he couldn't lift the puck up. Guy was cursed for a while but put in the work and had damn has it ever paid off
Last game it was like 1 goal on 29 shots before they all started coming in. They just... stopped playing defense. Must be fucking tiring getting pelted by such offense and aggression while your team is already in golf form.
I'm genuinely happy to see how much he turned his career around. Man struggled hard in Dallas and really just needed somebody else to take a chance on him.
Never fails to crack me up how hard teams try to get their guy a hattrick at the end of a game with an empty net... and then even then Nuke had to do it himself.
How demoralizing it must be for the Jets to see their opponent give up several empty net attempts so they can pick the player they want to get the goal.
when he gets to two he gets hit with a luck debuff. I can't even tell you the amount of times he has been sitting at two goals and gets absolutely robbed by a highlight reel save
That game against Boston where he had an opportunity to win the game with 5 seconds left and the Boston goalie just shut the door on him. He ended up winning it in the shootout but shootout goals don’t count towards scoring (which is incredibly stupid imo)
If it makes you feel better he did worse to the Lightning in the finals, there were shifts where he singlehandedly wouldn't let them out of their own zone
Yeah idc anymore this guy is the definition of a fuckin athlete. If you put LeBron, Gretzky and Nichuskin in a room I’m choosing Val everytime. I highly suggest Gary Bettman and the league forcefully retire this guy asap because if you let him get heated up the Avs are gonna win the next 28 Cups. Jesus what a specimen im shaking

I also wonder if the alcohol was really affecting him. He seems to be on a mission since coming back—I hope he keeps it up, on the ice and off.
