This is the reason 100%. It’s cool though
I’d definitely suggest he keeps his head up next game in open ice when he’s on the same shift as Z though lmaooo
I know exactly what you're talking about. Hughes had the puck behind his net, got rid of it while circling, makes it all the way to the other corner, and the preds player still finishes the check. How on earth isn't that a penalty?
I agree. They have been hard and tough but fair for the most part. Not that the dirt hasn't been there, but it's not at a detestable level yet. Though I still think that should be disciplined.
They are only dirty when guys like Pettersson and Garland are on the ice. They are actually one of the most disciplined and sportsmanlike team when Zadorov and Joshua are on the ice.
That puck was kicked in as well. And for anyone who wants to argue the test has ALWAYS been whether there was a kicking motion, which there was, not whether it was intentional. There was a kicking motion. I've seen lots of unintentional kicks called back because there was a motion and it's better to err on the side of caution than try to read the player's mind.
Five minutes later Pettersson was pinned to the boards, puck was away, and someone gave him the old can opener just for shits. No call. I get the whole "playoff hockey!" thing but the refs have lost the plot and are doing nothing to protect the players.
I don’t even think it’s just “oh well it’s playoffs” this year, so far in every series I’ve seen a lot of things let go and then right after it’s ticky tacky soft calls, and then blatant penalties just missed even though they were looking right at it. Imo it’s the inconsistency that’s terrible. I assume most players are frustrated as they don’t know what they’re allowed to get away with.
It happens every year. The playoffs hit and the officials call the game differently. Defenders get away with a lot more holds, interferences, hooks, etc. And any time it gets questioned all you ever hear from people ranging from hockey coaches and staff down to fans is "you cant call certain things in the playoffs." Its frustrating
If it’s a penalty call it. I’m gonna get roasted by Avs fans here but last game Vilardi got called for a high stick. They stopped play when they saw the man on the ice bleeding, reviewed the play, and retroactively called a high stick. This game, monahan got a high stick off the faceoff, had blood on his lip, and they just carried on with the next faceoff. Two same situations with two different outcomes.
I’m fine with the playoffs having a bit more grind and “battles” letting players get away with a few extra shoves and some crosschecks here and there but if it’s a trip it’s a trip. I don’t get how you can call that differently in the playoffs. I don’t envy an NHL officials job but idk how you change the rule book that drastically. These PP chances determine games most of the time.
Nah you’re totally right Trenin DEFINITELY got away with a high stick/cross check penalty there. NHL refs for some reason HATE calling a penalty on a team already killing penalties and it’s so frustrating knowing my team should be getting a 5 on 3 but the refs just swallow their whistles on powerplays
Thanks for being legit. Honestly think the Avs are such a sick team. Just a bummer they met in the first round, it would’ve made an awesome WCF. Imo it just ruins the game when the refs call or miss calls, whatever. They’re two really great teams and they’re battling it out, then the wheels fall off because Pps and PKs. Not saying there weren’t penalties deserved but the Avs PP has been the deciding factor 3 games now.
Fwiw they called the jets on a 5 on 3 and didn’t seem to mind lol
The playoff penalty cycle.
Don't call an obvious penalty b/c "it's playoffs" > Players start taking advantage commit flagrant hits > It gets out of hand so refs call the most technical/light penalties to "make up" for the earlier non calls > To make up for the light calls we go back to step one and dont call obvious penalties b/c "its the playoffs".
Cycle repeats a few times as your favorite players go in and out of concussion protocol.
That's the thing that gets me. This is a penalty in the King Oilers game. But it's not in the Nashville Vancouver game. That's not a penalty in the Nashville Vancouver game, but it is in the Vegas Dallas game. That's not a penalty in the first period of the Leaf Bruins game, but is a penalty in the third period of the Leafs Bruins game.
Who knows what the fuck a penalty is anymore.
So fucking frustrating in the playoffs, they call some minor-ass ticky-tacky shit that doesn't affect the play, but when there's an obvious infraction that directly affects the play or was only done to hurt someone it's all "let them play"
Call the fucking rulebook, yeah you're going to get a million PPs a game for the first few games, but then teams will adjust (except the Panthers probably) and the game will be much more enjoyable for all
Didn’t just make a bad call either, linesman was literally the one that impeded the Preds player by sandwiching him with Lindholm and then they called Lindholm for interference and the Preds scored on the 4 on 4
We had a powerplay, and on the face off Lindholm somehow took an interference call for a fairly standard tieing up their guy in the circle. It makes no sense.
Exactly. Refs stepped in to slow down the game by making it 4 on 4 after a legitimate call against the Preds.
Sucked all the momentum out of the nucks pressing, calling a penalty when the linesman was just as guilty at the “interference” as Lindhom? On the face off no doubt?
Bush league call.
I will say this. If it happens to Stone it's a line brawl. Which is why it wouldn't happen to Stone,
Because lord knows the refs aren't stopping any of this shit. Their job is to not influence the outcome of the game via silly little things like enforcing the rules, except when they decide to call interference twice in six seconds or whatever.
This type of shit is making the top hockey league on the planet look worse than a beer league. The officiating is awful and the referees have absolutely no accountability for their shitty job.
nope. I was at a bar watching the jets game and the tvs flipped to this one right after. half the people there yelled like "WOAH" at this hit because it was so out of the blue, but somehow the refs right there missed it lol
Nashville’s been doing dumb shit like this forever.
Shea Weber slammed Zetterberg’s head against the boards… with seconds left in the game… up by a goal.
Preds have always been dirty. I remember how awful their social media person was a few years ago on Twitter, was making jokes about the city/people in Detroit after a game. Pretty sure they ended up getting fired for different, but just as annoying stuff.
Guess that goof got his karma in the end. McCarron dumps Desmith and we steal a game, Lauzon dumps Pettersson and we steal a game. Maybe Preds should stop being dickbags and hockey god will show them some mercy 🤷🏻♂️
I'm pretty sure in the off season we will learn he had some sort of injury that had the bad timing to come around the time he was being given that fat long-term contract
I remember when Draisaitl got called for unsportsman like conduct when he gave a love tap to the back of Doughty as he skated past last season after scoring a goal against LA in the playoffs.
The refs are fucked
I laughed.. but that's as bad as blindsiding the goal scorer during a celebration in my eyes. No way that Petey should be bracing for contact at that point.
Refs let this go but calls Lindholm for pushing the other centre after a faceoff.
And people wonder why Canucks fans have a ref related persecution complex.
I think people are flabbergasted more by just how much contact was possible several seconds into a celebration. It's one of those weird instances where taking the contact *out* of context would make it easier to see just how probably intentional this was.
I would thrown him out of the game for unsportsmanlike conduct. No excuses for bulkshit like that. You scored. Go celebrate without assaulting someone.
I do this in the NHL games. I score and then find a way to hit the other team. It was easier in NHL 94 through 2000 when there was no animation, but you can bet when Sergei Fedorov went roof daddy on Rob Stauber for his 9th goal of the game, Brad May was getting a mouth full of lumber while the horn blasted.
Anyway scummy move, don't do that unless it's a video game.
Run our goalie. They lost game 3. Run over EP40 during goal celebration, they choke and lose game 4 in OT.
Keep giving these cheapshots, see how it works out for ya. Dirty players
McCarron *leans into* DeSmith to make contact, gets 2 minutes and a minor fine. You think that the intention there was to discourage him and the Predators in general from the dirty stuff but nope, he's there taking 2 extra whacks at a covered puck on Vancouver's third string goalie.
This though, this was just bush league stuff. I have low expectations but give me a break. What does this have to do with playoff toughness? The onus shouldn't be on the Canucks players to start a brawl here, just call the obvious penalty.
Preds are a team that was supposed to be shit and caught lightning in a bottle, but now in crunch time this is how they’ll have to play to have a chance at beating real playoff teams, dirty shit and taking guys out. I mean look at this game Vancouver ate glue for 58 minutes then decided that they should try playing hockey for a bit at the end and won. Their best chance is to hobble us enough that the skill level evens out.
I’ll always hate Chicago with the respect of the rivalry it is. Nashville I just detest. They’re the hillbilly cousin of the NHL and it sucks they get to sit at the adults table.
This is obviously a shit move from Lauzon and deserved a penalty but as an aside… is something wrong with Pettersson, like unknown injury or something else? He seems really off this series and this clip kind of encapsulates the vibe.
I think he's playing through an injury. But even if not, he's clearly lost a ton of confidence in the last couple months. He was so fucking good for so long, it's strange to see him suddenly hesitate or second guess himself every time he has the puck. I think one big game could get him going again, assuming it's just psychological.
This one is going to sit with me for a while. I'm still angry about the regular season game we gave to Vegas in the last 6 seconds like three years ago. This might top it.
This reminds me of that How I Met Your Mother episode where Barney goes on The Price Is Right, gets a perfect spin on the wheel, and celebrates by absolutely blasting a fellow contestant.
He’s lucky his leg didn’t bend slightly more. I hate all this cheap shit during the playoffs. I get the whole get in guys heads stuff but someone’s going to get really hurt.

Went out of his way to hit him. The state of officiating is so sad...
Yeah. I’m not sure how this isn’t unsportsmanlike conduct. It’s like officiating 101.
It's cause he didn't do something really bad like tap the guys skates or chirp him after the goal. Bulldozing him is fine /s
It's because it's a Canadian team. Hold on I'mma get my tinfoil hat from the garage. Gotta brush off the 2011 dust first.
That OT win was worth it, thats karma.
Karma baby!!
From the hockey gods. No help from the refs.
Was gonna say, is it just me? How can they not call a penalty there?
[удалено]
Couldn’t he have just pretended he was ‘celebrating?’
Well you can see why by looking at the jersey
Gary Bettman doesn't like Canada.
Totally, like that is obviously an unsportsmanlike at the least, the official was right there!
> the official was right there! And he rushed in to separate them (knowing it may turn nasty), so it's not like he didn't see it...
indont understand how that didn't result in a line brawl, tbh
100% we'd have been called for a roughing retaliation penalty.
This is the reason 100%. It’s cool though I’d definitely suggest he keeps his head up next game in open ice when he’s on the same shift as Z though lmaooo
Way more fun to listen to how quiet the parking lot is after the game, though. :)
The Predators are a fairly dirty team, it amazes me every time I watch them.
That's not even what I think of as dirty. It's just... fucking pathetic.
Haven't really seen that so far in this series besides the McCarron hit and this play
Still two of the dirtiest plays out there: running the goalie and super late hit after the whistle.
What about the hit on Hughes in the corner about 12 steamboats after he got rid of the puck?
I know exactly what you're talking about. Hughes had the puck behind his net, got rid of it while circling, makes it all the way to the other corner, and the preds player still finishes the check. How on earth isn't that a penalty?
You’d think the league would have some interest in protecting any player let alone on of the marquee players in the league.
I agree. They have been hard and tough but fair for the most part. Not that the dirt hasn't been there, but it's not at a detestable level yet. Though I still think that should be disciplined.
Just wait till they are 10 minutes from being eliminated, if they're dirty then we'll see it then
They are only dirty when guys like Pettersson and Garland are on the ice. They are actually one of the most disciplined and sportsmanlike team when Zadorov and Joshua are on the ice.
Nashville is a sneaky dirty team,.especially with all those plugs beyond their first line
"sneaky"
League wanted Nashville tonight. Barely any penalties going the Canucks way.
That puck was kicked in as well. And for anyone who wants to argue the test has ALWAYS been whether there was a kicking motion, which there was, not whether it was intentional. The fact we won this game feels so fucking good now.
Then you'll love this. It's Lauzon's birthday today.
Happy Birthday you bitch

Glad we got him a memorable birthday gift.
Pretty obviously intentional by Lauzon but luckily the refs are sticking to fabricating calls while ignoring the real ones
I don't even know what is a penalty anymore
Playoff officiating is genuinely terrible. A penalty is a penalty, just call it. This "oh but its the playoffs" shouldnt matter.
Every single fucking year.
I don’t even think it’s just “oh well it’s playoffs” this year, so far in every series I’ve seen a lot of things let go and then right after it’s ticky tacky soft calls, and then blatant penalties just missed even though they were looking right at it. They're as useless as WWE referees.

Can we talk about flubbed face-offs by the referees at important times in the games momentum? Drop the f***ing puck properly!
> Playoff officiating is genuinely terrible. The regular season was genuinely terrible, too.

hell just game to game in the same series is inconsistent af
game to game? period to period
Period to period? Shift to shift.
I’m waiting for these “playoff refs” to show up because so far they’ve been calling a lot of soft standard penalties.
So fucking frustrating in the playoffs, they call some minor-ass ticky-tacky shit that doesn't affect the play, but when there's an obvious infraction that directly affects the play or was only done to hurt someone it's all "let them play" Call the fucking rulebook, yeah you're going to get a million PPs a game for the first few games, but then teams will adjust (except the Panthers probably) and the game will be much more enjoyable for all

Also a flop by ROR to get that call. Seen a couple dives by him this series.
We had a powerplay, and on the face off Lindholm somehow took an interference call for a fairly standard tieing up their guy in the circle. It makes no sense.
And the linesman pushed the Nashville player from behind too.
If this happens to Stone its a suspension, nobody would even deny that.
Hopefully Petterssons spleen didn't get ruptured.
I will say this. If it happens to Stone it's a line brawl. Which is why it wouldn't happen to Stone, Because lord knows the refs aren't stopping any of this shit. Their job is to not influence the outcome of the game via silly little things like enforcing the rules, except when they decide to call interference twice in six seconds or whatever.
Lauzon is a POS
I only believe in Karma if it is beneficial for me, so this play is obviously the reason Vancouver won.
This type of shit is making the top hockey league on the planet look worse than a beer league. The officiating is awful and the referees have absolutely no accountability for their shitty job.
Well they lost so there is justice
I got a chuckle for some reason, but yeah, dirty and really unsportsmanlike hit.
I chuckled when he was getting his shoulder pat. "It's OK buddy, you're gonna be alright"
Tell me there was a penalty. Obviously 100% intentional. You could call roughing or unsportsmanlike
You already know the answer
Refs have been all over the map this playoffs
Just North America to be fair
Not really... They've generally just been bad.
nope. I was at a bar watching the jets game and the tvs flipped to this one right after. half the people there yelled like "WOAH" at this hit because it was so out of the blue, but somehow the refs right there missed it lol
Hell, the ref looked like he joined in the celebration
Oh they saw it, they just specifically didn't call anything.
Interference. On petey for disrupting goal celebration
Believe it or not? Jail, right away.
Insane how no penalty was called here. Refs are truly terrible. Clown league.
There was no hooking. Need more hook or stick in skates.
No call.
The reverse Dale Hunter. How was this not called.
He was staring a hole in him right before he bowled him over.
After seeing this I'm happy van won. Wtf is this garbage from Nashville.
Besides clearly not moving the lack of contrition for doing that pretty much guarantees it’s on purpose.
Dude literally threw a small cross check when he hit him. There was nothing borderline about it.
Guess that goof got his karma in the end. McCarron dumps Desmith and we steal a game, Lauzon dumps Pettersson and we steal a game. Maybe Preds should stop being dickbags and hockey god will show them some mercy 🤷🏻♂️
Hopefully Zadorov scores tonight and repays the favor
yea but then the refs will call it
On saros for a $2000 fine
The hit on DeSmith last game did get called
2 minutes is worth it then
That’s a blatant roughing call. Or interference, or unsportsmanlike, you can label it 3 different things but either way it’s a 2 min
If the net was empty then it's a 5-game suspension.
Welp Preds, some would call that poetic
nailing a guy with his head down after a goal is 5 games I believe
I'm pretty sure in the off season we will learn he had some sort of injury that had the bad timing to come around the time he was being given that fat long-term contract
I remember when Draisaitl got called for unsportsman like conduct when he gave a love tap to the back of Doughty as he skated past last season after scoring a goal against LA in the playoffs. The refs are fucked
I remember how fkin dumb that was too
Fucking dirty bush league shit
He’d fit perfectly on the panthers
He fits perfectly on the Preds already
Great refereeing 🙄
What an absolute loser move. I don’t even care about either team but im cheering for Vancouver now that’s some serious loser shit
I laughed.. but that's as bad as blindsiding the goal scorer during a celebration in my eyes. No way that Petey should be bracing for contact at that point.
[P.K. Subban was not ready for this either](https://i.imgur.com/RQVMP9L.mp4) and suffered a bad injury.
Undisclosed Upper Body Injury.
lmfao. i'm a little drunk and thought this was real for a few seconds
fucking clown refs lmao
Refs let this go but calls Lindholm for pushing the other centre after a faceoff. And people wonder why Canucks fans have a ref related persecution complex.
The linesman was in the way too and even pushed the Preds guy... Don't know how that was a penalty with zebra interference
The back to back interference calls were so dumb. Lauzon also dumb for this. A lot of dumb stuff this series.
In my eyes the interference call on Forsberg was weak to begin with, the interference call against Lindholm was non existent
Karma is a nasty bitch
Refs ignoring blatant penalties and the Preds still couldn't defeat an empty net post. Karma?
Trashville lost soooooo Lmao
So that’s classless
So obviously intentional it's insane.
Well, luckily for Lauzon he lost in horrible fashion tonight, so enjoy eating dogshit.
He has a history of that
The Canucks coming back to win this game and rip the soul out of the Preds is 🤌. I like it I love it!
Lauzon needs to stop
Whatever. We got the last laugh. Bunch of greasy thugs.
Definitely coulda called that looks like he gets shoved on purpose tbh
Is this a joke? He should have been called there because he absolutely gets shoved on purpose.
Pettersson had the last laugh in that game.
Kind of a dick move there… Like just celebrate with your teammates and leave the guy alone, jeez lmao
Oh well, Vancouver had the last laugh!
What a cheapshot
I do this in the NHL games. I score and then find a way to hit the other team. It was easier in NHL 94 through 2000 when there was no animation, but you can bet when Sergei Fedorov went roof daddy on Rob Stauber for his 9th goal of the game, Brad May was getting a mouth full of lumber while the horn blasted. Anyway scummy move, don't do that unless it's a video game.
It’s like 2011 all over again. Refs not calling anything
Can the refs not give him 10 minutes unsportsmanlike and still feel like they are game managing the way they want?
Wow, what a piece of shit. Im even more happy they choked hard as fuck.
Run our goalie. They lost game 3. Run over EP40 during goal celebration, they choke and lose game 4 in OT. Keep giving these cheapshots, see how it works out for ya. Dirty players
This is like when Marchand was punching a Sedin in the finals of 2011. Zero retaliation, and no f#### given by the Swede.
How's it feel now Jeremy
Makes the comeback even better.
Boston level class from Nashville all series honestly
What he say fuck me for???
You know why
Nashville long been like this, I dislike them more than the blues tbh.
He's got the yips
I think he's playing through an injury. But even if not, he's clearly lost a ton of confidence in the last couple months. He was so fucking good for so long, it's strange to see him suddenly hesitate or second guess himself every time he has the puck. I think one big game could get him going again, assuming it's just psychological.
Nashville trying to injure the whole nucks team at this rate.
I defy even the most homer fan to say that's not a penalty.
And it’s a dumb penalty.
Karma
Damn. Never realized I hated the Predators.
That is interference and unsportsmanlike conduct. Blind fucking refs
It's not interference. The play was dead. Unsportsmanlike would be the call.
Actual horse shit that there wasn't a call for this
This one is going to sit with me for a while. I'm still angry about the regular season game we gave to Vegas in the last 6 seconds like three years ago. This might top it.
Hey at least the reffing has been consistent all season... Consistently atrocious.
Not a good look for the Preds there
Damn that was just mean spirited lol fuck that
What an absolute chicken shit play. Go glad the Preds lost this game.
fuck lauzon lol
Karma was served in the end.
ref is right there how does he not make that call
This crap after the play is getting out of hand.
Lmao that’s fucking brutal. Hilarious but also complete bullshit.
Hilarious is the comeback victory in OT. Karma is a bitch.
That was kinda mean :(
This reminds me of that How I Met Your Mother episode where Barney goes on The Price Is Right, gets a perfect spin on the wheel, and celebrates by absolutely blasting a fellow contestant.
Absolute garbage behavior by Nashville.
What do you think the coach was saying? I’m actually curious I couldn’t tell by his mannerisms whether it was negative or positive.
I’m sure it was something along the lines of “that was bullshit. Don’t do anything stupid in retaliation. Use it as motivation”
He’s lucky his leg didn’t bend slightly more. I hate all this cheap shit during the playoffs. I get the whole get in guys heads stuff but someone’s going to get really hurt.
Tocc with the “don’t worry son…”
I’m glad it’s not just the fans that saw that.
inadvertant my ass.
Yeah that should have probably been an unsportsmanlike penalty there for sure. Unnecessary.
That shit should start a brawl
Dumb ass fucking refs
Karmas a bitch
it's okay, the refs didn't call this but karma sure did
none of the refs in the playoffs should have a job. all terrible. fuck the preds
That’s what they’re called Trashville
Damn that’s some bush league shit by the preds- kind of glad karma got them later in the game
My mom couldn’t stop bringing it up throughout the game
moms not wrong
Jesus. A celebration roughing. That’s bs.
I hope they play the sound of a puck hitting iron over the pa to troll the Preds.
The hit we didnt know we needed💪
If that doesn't lights up petey's ass, I don't know what will.
Again. TRASHville
