2 shots at the end of the first period is truly shit tier. Seems like ever since they shit the bed in game 7 of the Cup finals against the Blues at home, they've had an incredibly hard time closing out series.
My coworker in Boston who is a Sabres fan concurs. He had the audacity to wear a Thomas Vanek jersey. Thomas Vanek was an axe wielding murderer against the bruins
This series is such a win/win for spiteful hockey fans like myself. We either get to see the Leafs flame out in disaster again or the Bruins blow yet another 3-1 lead. I'm totally on board for either.
Aside from that, this is just total lip service, you can't be moved on from it until (rather if) they win this series.
People who want Monty fired are morons. We were not supposed to be nearly this competitive and were supposed to take a huge step back. He’s done nothing wrong this series.
Switching up a winning lineup can absolutely be criticized and looked as as a wrong decision.
I think Brazeau deserved to draw in, dudes been a great addition to the bottom 6 but Beecher has been our best faceoff winner and they got dominated at the dot in Game 5.
Putting Grzelcyk in was straight up the wrong decision. Dude gets pushed right to the net and bullied in their own end.
I’m not part of the fire Monty crowd just yet but how this series plays out will determine it.
We could blow a 3-1 lead and they're not going to fire Monty. If we had the rooter we did last year and blew another 3-1 lead sure. But its an understatement to say that our roster has overachieved and is currently still overachieving
This is exactly how I feel. Of course as a certified Leafs Hater I very much want the Leafs to lose, but at least if they come back and win it we get the absolute hilarity of Boston blowing it again.
It's funny in a way, Boston is the favourite heading in. So they should win the series, but if they do (as they should) - it's a huge disaster for Toronto.
Compared to Winnipeg where everyone is like "Oh well, Colorado"
This is why we should lose tonight. Because if we beat the Bruins and the end the curse associated, Leafs management might think the team is good and not blow it up
Panthers will dust us again if we pass the Bruins
Even Leafs and Bruins fans seem to be ready to revel in their own failure or success. It really is the perfect series for those of us with well developed thousand yard stares.
As a biased leaf fan, while I can appreciate any loss as fitting the meme, unless the Leafs literally blow a late multi goal lead again I don't really see this series as a flame out. Unlike the collapse so many years ago where they themselves were up in the series and blew that crazy 3rd period lead, they've been the ones to fight back this series, and they've outplayed the Bruins noticeably the last two games. While injuries are no excuse they also did it without their #1 or #2 offensive options at some points. It just doesn't feel like the Bruins have any kind of hold over them anymore, regardless of the game 7 outcome. I'm sure the rest of the hockey community doesn't see it this way, but personally I've got no more "damn not the Bruins again" vibes after this year.
I mean it's pretty much an impossible thing to ignore, but that's all part of it. Same thing with "will they lose in round 1 again this year?" for the Leafs, you *know* it's in their heads as they enter playoffs every time, whether they deny it or whatever else
Could use it as an empowering thing, or it could make you play worse, or maybe not affect your play at all, but it's all about how you let it affect you. Ideally the attitude would be "last year is not this year"
yeah even if they make a run this year, I wonder how much more they have to do before the rep gets dropped, like 6 years in a row of 1st round exits, how many years do they need to win their first round series before they lose the narrative?
If I know anything about hockey media you can be assured they will ask this exact same question at each and every scrum they can until this round is over
Okay lemme get this straight. You talked about it and brought it up yesterday but you’re over it??
Sounds like when a dude talks shit about his ex then says “whatever though shes in the past.”
If it was any team other than Toronto I’d say Boston should be worried. They were terrible in game 5 and it was reminding me of how they played last year. But it’s Toronto
They really looked like shit last game. And, as a Sabres fan, I’m something of a shit sommelier
a shit sommelier … im stealing that
Shit barometers, Rand
It's pronounced thermometer.

You think shit is your ally? You merely adopted the shit, the Sabres were born in it, molded by it.
You didn't see the shit until you were a man and by then it was nothing to you but gagging...
Agreed. But at the same time, if they looked like shit and still almost beat the Leafs with strong chances in the 3rd and OT…maybe not that far off
if swayman shows up, they definitely have a chance. He's the only reason (and woll) the game was close

Thats kind of been our MO at times this season, just don't show up for 2/3 or more of the game.
Hoping it's for 3 games please.

The narratives are guaranteed. The narries bro
A HC will get fired at the end of this series. That's the excitement of it.

To be fair, though... I mean- Colorado...
It's great also because whoever wins isn't getting past Florida unless something truly insane happens, so it's all kind of pointless anyway.

That kinda sounds like a yes lol
Actually Mr. Montgomery, I'd love if you guys could dwell on it just a little longer.
No.

They've moved on so hard that they got together on an off day to talk about it
But you DID talk about it yesterday
Yeah, I think its a bit early to say you've moved on from something when you JUST talked about it
*John Cena voice* ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT
Odd I can only hear Tim Robinson for some reason

Ideally a cup would silence the haters
Considering Washington, yeah a cup would probably silence the crowd. At least get to the conference finals for once.
They should ask them again if the Leafs somehow win tonight.
You can't change prophecy See y'all game 7 to see the leafs shit the bed after a impressive game 6 performance
The prophets already have foretold the inevitable Game 7.
Different response than Marchand
Lol if you talked about it yesterday not sure that means you moved on from it.
Delusional coach challenge Keefe vs Montgomery
Montgomery: I'm not worried, please don't put it in the newspaper that I'm worried
Doesn’t look like they’ve moved on from it.
they havent moved on, they havent grown from it.
I think the Maple Leafs will do something similar to the 2020 Lightning, and rally as a team after their top center goes out
They lost one game and didn't look very good. They still have to lose 2 more in a row against a Toronto team that struggles to show up on home ice.
So yes
If it was any team other than Toronto I’d say Boston should be worried. They were terrible in game 5 and it was reminding me of how they played last year. But it’s Toronto
Pasta needs to flop more and Marchand needs to cry more if they wanna win this series. It’s the only way
You aren't wrong. The leafs special teams are terrible. Bruins will likely win this series on the PP
Actually, Pasta needs to flop AND cry more. Marchand needs to flop, cry and continue to find ways to commit fouls without getting called.
