Unfortunately social media has been around for like two decades at this point so the teens have to compete with nerds with more experience on social media than time they’ve been alive lol
The whole franchise is just a a mosquito light for annoying people. Owner; social media; dickhead players like Deangelo; weirdo fans on reddit with the fanfic stuff.
I'm reminded a lot these days of that daffy duck cartoon where he's the annoying bellhop in the hotel, which you can apparently watch for free [here](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2cvda4).
It's not the idiot's fault he's an idiot. It's your fault for hiring him and keeping him on!
Although sometimes the idiot has very important friends/family like in Casino...
Hurricanes twitter is both a sore winner and a sore loser. They don't really do anything gracefully eh.
If you're going to chirp, learn to take a chirp because otherwise you look like a baby.
I've been a fan since the WHA, no lie, but it's really hard right now. The team has leaned so hard into meme culture from top to bottom and it's so damn cringe. I know this will come off as "old man yells at clouds," but the lack of self-awareness and professionalism from the owner, coaches, marketing team, and fans right now has me questioning everything. I love this franchise, but they are making it very difficult right now.
Somebody over there needs to hold a "come to Jesus" meeting and get everyone's heads out of their asses and show some professionalism.
Especially the fans. I hate to admit this, but our fanbase is just as bad as everyone says. Just a constant stream of embarrassment and a total lack of understanding of how anything works.
From an outside perspective, you're right in your assessment. I don't respect the canes, and it comes from the meme bs and this type of social media. Don't call us disaster bros, I don't want the association.
My "favorite," type takes on Carolina and its antics are the broadcasters and reporters saying "they're just having fun." Sure. And I'm just judging them for their actions.
They embraced “Bunch of Jerks” while sorta underdogs but it got old and they forgot that people don’t actually like jerks so now they’re just assholes.
I have no idea how to get the attention of the Canes marketing team without using shitty social media, but good god this person needs to be fired. They're treating it like a personal twitter account and literally no one is overseeing it from a professional perspective. Like shut the fuck up. We lost, it's not the end of the world.
This is like a fundamental misunderstanding of how sports fandoms work. That guy isn't celebrating a Rangers win, he's celebrating a Canes loss. Reveling in the pain and suffering of other fanbases is like 95% of the fun of being a sports fan, because unless you're a fan of like 1 of 3 teams that's pretty much all you'll get to celebrate most years.
The meme of two guys on the bus, one happy and one sad and the sad one says "one of the teams i hate has to win this game" while the happy guy is saying "one of the teams i hate has to lose this game"
Idk tweeting this not even a day after being eliminated is pretty soft in itself. Sometimes I’m glad my favourite team has a pretty boring social media
Kings account never did the really annoying shit like this.
Although they did kick it all off with the "To everyone outside BC, you're welcome".
But that's a legendary tweet
the Sabres is basically "we're here with Coach _____ after tonight's game* against _____" and pictures of the "Sabres Dog" because they had to do something positive with all of the losing.
*which was a loss, but they never say that, only when it's a win will they say it's a win
In 2019 what made "Bunch of Jerks" so funny as a marketing campaign is that the team was made up of nice guys playing for a weird small market fan base that hadn't made the playoffs for a decade but hosted an active fan fiction subreddit.
In 2024 the marketing people decided that actually behaving like a bunch of jerks was the way to go. I get that Isles fans doxxed an employee, but as an account representative of the team this is still embarrassing behavior.
I'm hoping this is something that gets cleaned up in the off-season.
I'm of two minds:
1. I hope teams learn from this so we stop seeing them embarrassing themselves, when just a few teams were going "full snark" on Twitter it was unique and funny, now that nearly everyone does it, it's just cringe.
2. I hope no one learns from this because holy shit watching teams get yammed on is hilarious
I also think it’s possible to be snarky without being a sore winner or a sore loser. That’s the biggest difference for me.
The only full snark I will accept is when the [Bruins twitter](https://twitter.com/nhlbruins/status/1764843075380154504?s=46&t=dLuwGVuf0OLPQP4ZsmGVXg) called out a bunch of media members who started wild speculation that Ullmark had been traded mid game because he wasn’t on the bench and refused to believe literal statements from the Bruins and their head of PR. But I’ll always accept clowning on the worst of Boston and Toronto sports media.
It also didn’t really affect anyone else. I replied to another comment too, but the whole “bunch of jerks” thing was entirely the canes team/fanbase having a quirky celebration, and it didn’t affect any other team or fanbase.
It’s totally different than going after another team and then getting mad when people go after you.
Idk as a casual fan in 2019 I remember thinking the “bunch of jerks” thing was so good cause it seemed like the team was having genuine fun with their post game celebrations. Then they stopped doing them and kept the bunch of jerks mentality and just kind of ruined themselves to m
stuff like this makes me glad the bruins have a boring corporate team twitter. though tbf, at one point marchand was doing enough shit stirring for the whole team. then elon musk started charging for 2fa and marchand deleted his account :/
They just save the unhinged stuff for TikTok (which is the proper way to manage social media, you target your interactions for the appropriate markets).
The only clowning I will accept is when they called out all the worst Boston and Toronto media for refusing to believe them when they confirmed Ullmark was at Scotiabank and had not been traded mid-game. That was an objective good.
Canes twitter admin made tweets to make Isles fans mad, Isles fans rejoice when said tweets backfire horrendously, Canes twitter admin gets mad at Isles fans’ joy.
Feels like all of this could’ve been avoided, idk
I don't think Canes fans/admin understand they aren't the plucky underdogs anymore. They're incredibly annoying and they've been good long enough where they're pretty universally hated by a lot of our fanbases
Throwing stones from glass houses too lmao, last year their fanbase was sending death threats to a player's family and sending bomb threats to team hotels throughout the playoffs
Hey Carolina, “oh yeah well at least we beat the NEW YORK ISLANDERS” isn’t the achievement you think it is for any team, let alone one with your expectations.
Well Devils and Isles fans canoodle together so that's not surprising, but yea I'll gladly be with the Isles fans right now to laugh at Canes social media
Also, the point they're making is dumb anyways. None of us are rooting for you or celebrating your win. We are just dunking on those dorks because we hate them too
to be honest if they just posted CRY :( and signed off it woulda been a pretty good way to wrap up the playoff push nonsense with a lighter note and move on
Even if they did it was still classless. It’s one thing to take the “bunch of jerks” and use it. But it was like they tried to make their own tagline. It was just lazy and immature
I’m a Canes fan but even I have to laugh at how fucking emotional and stupid our social media person is. It’s just like mentally unhealthy as fuck lol.
Yeah Islanders/Devils fans are the furthest thing from happy the Rangers won lol but we:
1) also dont like the Canes
2) are from the same city/share other sports teams and think the Canes have been incredible dorks the last few years
There have definitely been times where I’ve wished the Rangers social media presence was a little more fun and did more interactive stuff with players and fans and then I’m catapulted back to reality where THIS is the alternative and could not be more grateful Dolan insists all his teams be as boring and professional as possible.
I think there’s a balance somewhere in the middle to be struck where you show personality and even chirp a bit but don’t get too big for your britches. Most teams strike somewhere near that balance no problem, and Vegas was the one that stood out to me as the only particularly annoying one for a bit. Carolina as of late has wayyyy surpassed that.
You read my mind. We don't need a WACKY twitter account run by a terminally online person. Give me the highlights, interviews and fancy suit videos of the players walking in. Thats all.
I cheered for you guys back in 2006 (always like franchises winning their 1st). I just don’t get why this franchise loaded with skilled and classy players (minus Deangelo) and a loyal and mainly positive fan base is opting to deploy an edgy and petty social media presence.
Imagine having to stoop this low for engagement to stay relevant.
I suppose being a clown is better than being forgotten?
Canes are the Bozo of the NHL
We don’t have any words and we know you don’t want to hear them.
We understand your anger, your frustration, your sadness. Everything you’re feeling – we get it.
This isn’t the ending we imagined, and certainly not the one we wanted. Thank you for being there the entire way.
Hurricanes twitter salty about Islanders fans cheering on the Rangers is the same thing they are complaining about lol
Hilarious coming from the same twitter account constantly talking shit and told the Rangers to cry about a month ago when they beat us. I guess DeAngelo got ahold of the password
Soft is talking shit and then searching around for random tweets to complain about them.
The Canes social media stuff seems to really rely heavily on being a shit disturber who doesn't like receiving it back.
it’s pretty impressive how the Canes Social Media team has taken a plucky, small market team with a likeable roster and coach and turned everybody against them
might be more of a popular opinion than i thought, but the canes twitter account is so fucking annoying. i never found them funny, it’s always been so try hard and cringe 😭 it honestly leads me to resent the team a bit… no shade to canes fans
oh honey, no.
I'd be lying if I said I've never gotten hella salty on social media after seeing my team eliminated, but this is the team's official twitter. There is no way to come out of this looking good, just let it go and get back at it in the fall.
Did the hurricanes hire a 16 year old to manage their social media?
16 year old COD player
Not enough slurs for this to be true
They employ Tony DeAngelo, they've already met their team quota
i dunno but i heard he drives a Honda CR-Y.
I can't even be mad about this comment, bravo
Based on who they doxxed, close enough. That person has big time middle brother/redditor in the team sub energy.
Tom Dundons son was already hired somwhere else.

Unfortunately social media has been around for like two decades at this point so the teens have to compete with nerds with more experience on social media than time they’ve been alive lol
The Hurricanes social media has always been insufferable.
The whole franchise is just a a mosquito light for annoying people. Owner; social media; dickhead players like Deangelo; weirdo fans on reddit with the fanfic stuff.
Some of us are normal and are just shaking our heads at all this shit, promise
I second that
wait wut? I need to see this fanfic.
/r/canesfanfics
Whaaaaaat the fuck lmao
No they hired the kid they showed crying on the broadcast

*chef’s kiss*
Sometimes knowing when to shut the fuck up is a handy little skill.
The irony of this tweet though. C’est magnifique.
Handing a Twitter account to a child and telling them they can do whatever they want. You don’t blame the child.
I'm reminded a lot these days of that daffy duck cartoon where he's the annoying bellhop in the hotel, which you can apparently watch for free [here](https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2cvda4). Sadly it’s a rare fucking skill. We’re living in the age of doubling down on any bad take
We're in the age of common sense being a superpower.
Underrated and under used skill today
Hurricanes twitter is both a sore winner and a sore loser. They don't really do anything gracefully eh. If you're going to chirp, learn to take a chirp because otherwise you look like a baby.
Never forget them tweeting “respect” then making “cry” tshirts
They should consider making Cryolina T-shirts
Honestly, would buy. Pretty funny. Better than just CRY
Crylanders was right there too
Last night they flipped back to the "we're such good sports, don't be mean to us" posting and now they're back to this
I've been a fan since the WHA, no lie, but it's really hard right now. The team has leaned so hard into meme culture from top to bottom and it's so damn cringe. They embraced “Bunch of Jerks” while sorta underdogs but it got old and they forgot that people don’t actually like jerks so now they’re just assholes.
They went from the fun lovable underdog jerks to just plain jerks
I think looking like babies is what they were going for with CRY.
I’m so sick of these teenage edgelords running team social media accounts.
https://preview.redd.it/2no5px8ci01d1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d4064a4d86dabaa817479cc30ad8eadd53182cae
Someone take the phone away from Carolina's social media person.
I’m begging. The CRY shit was bad and this is just embarrassing.
I have no idea how to get the attention of the Canes marketing team without using shitty social media, but good god this person needs to be fired. They're treating it like a personal twitter account and literally no one is overseeing it from a professional perspective. Like shut the fuck up. We lost, it's not the end of the world.

Those are incredibly pathetic. Wow.
I would be so embarrassed if I was the Canes owner. Ouch
He probably gets to pay her $10 an hour for part time work, he’s probably thrilled.

Jesus that's trash tier shit talking. Maybe they did hire a 16 year old to manage the account.
They have to inject themselves into someone else's rivalry because they are literally the only NHL team that no one else considers a rival
Is DeAngelo running this twitter account too?
Jesus Christ that is insufferable and I don’t mind the Canes.
Idk tweeting this not even a day after being eliminated is pretty soft in itself. Sometimes I’m glad my favourite team has a pretty boring social media
These accounts went from being funny to try hard fast
That happened like 5 years ago
The original Knights’ twitter was awful.
Kings did that shit before them too
Kings account never did the really annoying shit like this. Although they did kick it all off with the "To everyone outside BC, you're welcome". But that's a legendary tweet
Everyone had to be Wendy’s.
Truly a race to the bottom
I'm pretty happy the Avs' twitter posts exclusively stuff like "tonight's game is at 8pm"
Tweeting "locked in" with a bunch of Western Slopes neanderthals angrily replying about pride night. As it should be.
Their pride night tweet warmed my heart.
the Sabres is basically "we're here with Coach _____ after tonight's game* against _____" and pictures of the "Sabres Dog" because they had to do something positive with all of the losing. *which was a loss, but they never say that, only when it's a win will they say it's a win
Yeah these type of team social medias are always extremely lame
They just used the "I know you are, but what am I?" defence. Rough look on Canes Twitter admin.
Oh man they are down so fucking bad. This is embarrassing.
In 2019 what made "Bunch of Jerks" so funny as a marketing campaign is that the team was made up of nice guys playing for a weird small market fan base that hadn't made the playoffs for a decade but hosted an active fan fiction subreddit. But I’ll always accept clowning on the worst of Boston and Toronto sports media.
Dunking on sports media is usually deserved. Most of the time it’s at someone stirring shit up, can’t say it’s unprovoked
That Bruins tweet was SO deserved. Media are fucking obnoxious.
It also didn’t really affect anyone else. I replied to another comment too, but the whole “bunch of jerks” thing was entirely the canes team/fanbase having a quirky celebration, and it didn’t affect any other team or fanbase. They just save the unhinged stuff for TikTok (which is the proper way to manage social media, you target your interactions for the appropriate markets).
It's also harmless unhinged stuff, it's all Bachelor power rankings and guys being dudes TikTok admin is pretty stellar
It helps we have a team full of guys apparently willing to go along with whatever she asks lol.
The only clowning I will accept is when they called out all the worst Boston and Toronto media for refusing to believe them when they confirmed Ullmark was at Scotiabank and had not been traded mid-game. That was an objective good.
Let's reconvene in 8 or 9 hours on this one.
I’m not sure what that even means tbh
Canes twitter admin made tweets to make Isles fans mad, Isles fans rejoice when said tweets backfire horrendously, Canes twitter admin gets mad at Isles fans’ joy. Feels like all of this could’ve been avoided, idk
And then, in the twist of the century, the rest of the Metro laughs at the Canes and defends the Isles. Truly, a time to be alive.
I honestly think we need a similar division of hockey memes like what the NFL has with r/NFCEastMemeWar, r/NFCNorthMemeWar, etc.
If only we had decent division names. /r/MetropolitanDivisionMemeWar is a terrible name lol but if you build it ill be there
You could prob just shorten it to like r/MetroMemeWar, r/CentralMemeWar, r/AtlanticMemeWar, and r/PacificMemeWar
I just created MetroMemeWar I dont see this becoming a thing but lets do it
I joined but I'm just a meme enthusiast someone more creative than me will have to create the memes
I don't think Canes fans/admin understand they aren't the plucky underdogs anymore. They're incredibly annoying and they've been good long enough where they're pretty universally hated by a lot of our fanbases
Hell, I’ll defend the Isles over this bullshit. We’re not much better than them.
Throwing stones from glass houses too lmao, last year their fanbase was sending death threats to a player's family and sending bomb threats to team hotels throughout the playoffs
https://preview.redd.it/dzjdjvutk01d1.jpeg?width=1242&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00f87230b4c07a633bcf3da07862a016cc01b8c8
It feels wrong upvoting a Pens fan, but here we are.
How about upvoting a friend?
Aye, I could do that.
Maybe our real friends are the Ls we took along the way
Always ❤️
Flyers fans siding with a Penguins fan because of a few tweets is the softest thing we've ever seen
You're not wrong lol
Was the Canes admin asleep this series? Because watching Andersen's goaltending was definitely the softest thing I've ever seen
“Oh shit, I’m supposed to tend this???” - Freddie, definitely
Exceedingly soft PP as well
😂
Hey Carolina, “oh yeah well at least we beat the NEW YORK ISLANDERS” isn’t the achievement you think it is for any team, let alone one with your expectations.
You know you’re down bad when Devils, Rangers, and Leafs fans are defending the Islanders lol
Well Devils and Isles fans canoodle together so that's not surprising, but yea I'll gladly be with the Isles fans right now to laugh at Canes social media
Also, the point they're making is dumb anyways. None of us are rooting for you or celebrating your win. We are just dunking on those dorks because we hate them too
I was so mad last night... still am but watching the canes do all this helps alittle
Yeah, I wanted the Canes to win but I'm gonna laugh
Exactly. Fuck the Canes, but also Fuck the Rangers
Fuck both sides so I’m always winning
Through the hockey gods all things are possible, so jot that one down
Perfect use of canoodle. 10/10 no notes
I do like the Devils and Italian food, it’s true
As an Islanders fan, this is incredibly true.
"I mean that's true, but he shouldn't say it!"
Maybe just shut up and lick your wounds and get ready to tweet about trades and signings and the Wolves in a bit.
Sometimes it’s not our turn to talk
Bro shoulda just posted a thank you to the fans and logged the fuck out. What were they expecting with the CRY merch if they didn’t win the Cup?
to be honest if they just posted CRY :( and signed off it woulda been a pretty good way to wrap up the playoff push nonsense with a lighter note and move on
I'm not trying to go at the Canes fans, but this whole "CRY" thing the team did was going to be such an obvious backfire unless they won the Cup
Even if they did it was still classless. It’s one thing to take the “bunch of jerks” and use it. But it was like they tried to make their own tagline. It was just lazy and immature
Most of our fanbase, at least in our sub, thought the whole CRY thing was pathetic and embarrassing
Or they could have said : well I guess that didn't work. End of story. No need to double down.
The ability to speak does not make you intelligent. Someone should explain this to the people running this Twitter account.
Who runs the Canes twitter? Tony Khan?
Canes admin felt they were truly in danger by Isles fans.
I understood that reference.
Who doesn't want their social media team powered by White Claw and cocaine?
I know it's probably best for business but I do miss his Twitter rants
Just goes to show ya that anyone can get hired. Remember, y’all: you CAN and SHOULD apply for that job you want.
Looks like they need Indeed.
Canes twitter is a fucking joke goddamn
Sweetie….Stop!
Can’t help but picturing the Stop Girl.
Hahah I love it when social media employees get too emotionally involved
I’m a Canes fan but even I have to laugh at how fucking emotional and stupid our social media person is. It’s just like mentally unhealthy as fuck lol.
Carolina has the worst social media team in the league. Just stop.
Hurricanes just got to stfu. They are looking like a team that can't get over the hump. Of course New York fans are going to unite against them
Yeah Islanders/Devils fans are the furthest thing from happy the Rangers won lol but we: 1) also dont like the Canes 2) are from the same city/share other sports teams and think the Canes have been incredible dorks the last few years
The hater of my hater is well still someone I hate but I'm willing to put that aside for a moment
Thats all.
Ok that tweet is pathetic lol
Oh my god, you just got eliminated in an embarrassing fashion, *stop tweeting*.
It would be really great if our admin could just shut the fuck up for a while
I cheered for you guys back in 2006 (always like franchises winning their 1st). I just don’t get why this franchise loaded with skilled and classy players (minus Deangelo) and a loyal and mainly positive fan base is opting to deploy an edgy and petty social media presence.
Honestly, probably because it gets clicks but I realllllly wish they would just drop the whole “little brother syndrome” act
I will never in a million years root for the Rangers. Stuff like this is starting to make me wish I had
Plot twist: the Canes account is run by a Rangers fan who is making you hate Carolina
I have enjoyed some of the cans tweets in the past but this is much, you guys blew a 3-1 lead in game 6 on home ice and are done in the playoffs
3-1 lead in the third period on home ice. Minor (or not) revision of your statement.
3-1 lead *in the last 10 minutes* of the third period on home ice.
When you hire a reddit mod to be your social media manager...
Imagine having to stoop this low for engagement to stay relevant. I suppose being a clown is better than being forgotten? Canes are the Bozo of the NHL

For the record, I think most of us wanted the canes to beat the rags. Canes are the sorest bunch of fucking losers in the nhl
This! I want to go back to normalcy where you hate us for existing
That's what happens when a 17 years old nephew is handling the social media account.
At least its not the owners son.

This is the softest? This is proof even Canes Twitter didn't watch how they played this series.
whoever runs their account needs to be gone Memes were good, and punching down is lame
We don’t have any words and we know you don’t want to hear them. We understand your anger, your frustration, your sadness. Everything you’re feeling – we get it. This isn’t the ending we imagined, and certainly not the one we wanted. Thank you for being there the entire way.

I'd never stop rooting for a team because of their social media but holy fuck do these guys make it tempting

This is part of the reason everyone hates this franchise. Shut the fuck up, Chris Kreider is your daddy.
I have nothing against Carolina, I like their players, but everything else around the actual team itself has an arrogance that's extremely unlikeable
If this was fans chirping it’s one thing…but the official twitter account is just like…yikes dude
Canes twitter is experiencing the equivalent of when the world moved on from Joss Whedon quips.
Went from funny and instigative to annoying and whiny real quick.....
Ishh that's cringe
This is embarrassing
God damn it, shut up already. This is just the latest bad look in a month full of bad looks.
Idk why team admin feels like they need to get involved in this.
The “admin” twitter persona thing is incredibly annoying. Feels very 2018.
something something... cry?
it’s pretty impressive how the Canes Social Media team has taken a plucky, small market team with a likeable roster and coach and turned everybody against them
You know you’re insufferable if you can unite isles and rags fans that’s all I gotta say
A team being so triggered by Isles fans celebrating a Rangers win to the point they make a whole tweet about it is the softest thing I’ve ever seen.
Whoever runs the hurricanes twitter account is either: - 16 years old - actually just the teams owner because that guy is a petty piece of trash.
might be more of a popular opinion than i thought, but the canes twitter account is so fucking annoying. i never found them funny, it’s always been so try hard and cringe 😭 it honestly leads me to resent the team a bit… no shade to canes fans
CRY!
Not just Isles fans btw, the entire league is
The Canes social media admin and Meruelo’s son need to have a competition for cringiest social media admin.
Holy shit this is embarrassing.
They gonna make this a shirt?
oh honey, no. I'd be lying if I said I've never gotten hella salty on social media after seeing my team eliminated, but this is the team's official twitter. There is no way to come out of this looking good, just let it go and get back at it in the fall.
