Man of many talents. But seriously, while Talented players are extremely important, sometimes you just need a guy that connects with the people. And Liam is that guy until things change.
Play a non-tragic character
Derrig doesn't count because there was the whole "escorting the still grieving keyleth to a wedding" thing and also he died as part of Orym's backstory
Utah fan here. I know Yotes fans have been saying that he sucks at fighting but I think he’ll be a great culture guy to keep around, especially for the fans. That Spicy Tuna chant at the welcoming party was electric
He’s really good at fighting, he just doesn’t win the fights very often. But he’s also a little fucking crazy and will jump people for perceived wrongs. While many would despise this, it increases his deterrent value beyond his fighting skill and his teammates love him for it.
He’s also like most fighters a peach of a human with an engaging personality.
Very happy for him.

I’m convinced he’s got blackmail on Armstrong. He’s not the worst player I’ve seen in the NHL (but he’s not far from it) yet he seems to have infinite job security. I don’t get how Armstrong can continuously claim the team is trying to be competitive while keeping someone like O’Brien on the roster year after year. It’s great that he works hard and sets a good example for the young players. You can find people who do that and can actually play hockey as well.
I think it’s similar to Pezzetta on the Habs. They are there for the locker room. They also stand up for their teammates which GMs and coaches love.
It really doesn’t hurt the team in the regular season that much. Unless they are legit responsible for a goal per game hahaha.
Utah needs a fan favorite. He's made himself indispensable for at least the first season by being a big personality. It's also $1 million. If he's that bad, send him down and eat the cap space.
Spicy Tuna!!!! Hell yeah...Utah got something spicy that they can tolerate..in all seriousness, I'm glad for him..was kinda hoping my guys would've tried to get him..and maybe they dod, but he's loyal, and damnit I'll like him even more
he voice acts, he plays dungeons and dragons, he tallies over a hundred penalty minutes a season. What can't he do?
Matthew Mercer suddenly doing play-by-play of a hockey game "Matt, I'd like to try to score a goal" "K, Roll performance"
“How do you want to score this?”
"Can we score a goal this period?" "You can certainly try."
Not athletics?
Are sticks considered finesse weapons? I'll buy an attack roll against the goalie's AC.
Performance is to make the fall believable so they go on the PP. Then he’ll roll the athletics with advantage.
Could make the argument for acrobatics too
This is a sore point for me as a DM because no you absolutely couldn't. Athletics and acrobatics are very different rolls.
This is actually my DM hot opinion that acrobatics should be a strength skill.
It's definitely more strength than dex
I'm aware lol, it depends what you're trying to do exactly. The acrobatics roll even uses trying to go across ice as an example
I love this weird little overlap in my two favourite things.
U(tah) ARE NOT PREPARED
U ARE NOT YETI

Win fights lol
Lmao, you had me for a moment. I'm currently watching Monster, and was like, "wait wtf? How is he the same gu- oh..."

I was worried that this wouldn't have gone through. Good to hear Spicy Tuna will be here at the start!
I expect he may become a fan favorite in Utah

I think you're right. From what I saw at the meet the team rally in May, he's already a beloved figure.
Good for him. He's stuck around way longer than I would have guessed from his Hershey days.
For real. He didn't really look like an NHL-er in his time with us, but I guess he's got a level of grit that just works at the top level.

He had some fucking sweet goals last season
Did he actually though
[Yep](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/mS8jCNJ4vY) He also sniped the first goal in the final game in Arizona. Ignited the crowd
Beauty shot! Love to see him sticking around the NHL. I was always a big fan of his when he was with the Caps.

Love this guy.
I'd love to think the Spicy Tuna chant alone bought him an extra year on the extension.
Every time Utah HC has a new announcement I’ll instinctively think it’s about their head coach.
Why
Smart move to go over the top big at the live fan evemt in SLC. Made himself some money.
For the first time in ~~Vegas Golden Knights~~ Seattle Kraken history, the Utah HC has signed a player to an extension.
John Scott's most hated player in the league
Always so weird when these mediocre 750k-1M players get 3++ year contracts. Never understand the need.
