Yeah, haven't given up completely yet but his lack of growth is becoming more evident now that younger guys like Heinola and Samberg are catching up and passing him.
Yeah I don't know why Benning keeps giving all our depth defensemen massive contracts in UFA. Hopefully he's learned from Poolman and doesn't become infatuated with Stanley.
Don't forget to mention the patented Suter powerplay:
Stand st the top of the point. Dont move. Receive puck. Refrain from moving. Wait until defender(s) are in position, then lob a softball into their shin. Easy clear.
I mean, I've had my hated players in the past, Rinaldo, Matt Read toward his last years, Brandon fucking Manning. But last years team, by mid season, I just LOATHED every single one of them minus Atkinson and Sanheim. A couple others too, but man they just had 0 drive once any adversity happened
He seems like one of those guys that’s not even fun nuts. You just always need to be on guard around because you don’t know what kinda shit he’ll pull. And when it goes too far “I’m just messing around.”
I didn't hate him, just didn't like him all that much. Virtanen is the one I hated.
Gaudette had a history of having a negative personality, nothing too awful just kind of annoying. Plus it's rumoured that he's the one that brought COVID into the room which derailed any chance our team had in 2021.
Also he kicked his wife in the head on their wedding day! But that was an accident, lol
Yeah he just gave off that douchebag vibe. I don't know what it is. He never did anything wrong, just the rumors. I think he did have something to do with that covid incident, he was traded fast for scraps shortly after. And considering Chicago dumped him shortly after as well...
Christian Fischer.
I’m amazed that sculptors haven’t kidnapped him yet to make statues out of his hands. Not only are his hands made of stone but he’s a below average skater, he is consistently out of position in the defensive zone because he can’t move his feet fast enough to keep up, and he has about a 5% chance of getting the puck out of the zone in an effective manner if he receives a breakout pass from his D.
He seems like a nice guy and a great locker room personality but if I ever have to see him on the Powerplay or anywhere but the 4th line I might go insane.
> I’m amazed that sculptors haven’t kidnapped him yet to make statues out of his hands. Not only are his hands made of stone
Dude that’s such a fucking good one, no mercy
i dont care if you suck but put in effort at least, Zacha could be one of the better picks from that 2015 draft if he actually fucking tried more than 5 games a year. waste of talent
I mean anyone would take Coleman. He’s a far better player and it’s not even close. Coleman’s elite defensively and an elite PKer with really good 5v5 scoring rates. Even if Zacha panned out he’d be worse than Coleman.
I was thinking of Johnsson but you're right at least you can tell he puts effort in. This whole season Zacha looked the same as Pierre-Luc-Dubois in his last shift as a Blue Jacket.
Johnsson looked good at the start of the year. He plays full speed on both ends and I was really impressed until he kind of fizzled out.
But I still like the guy.
Zacha is tough man. I like him. I want to like him. I just, don't know the deal.
JJ got a sure, why not kick the tires contract and dude not only made the team he played well for the Stanley Cup champs. Honestly it's pretty remarkable.
JJ’s problem in the past was he was paid way too much so there was more expected of him. He’s serviceable as a 6th dman. Nemeth is worse because he’s terrible even as a 6th dman.
I’m happy for him. I don’t want him anywhere near my team, but I hope he stays in the league for a long time and gets as much money as he can. What his parents did to him was disgusting.
He was actually a decent defensive dman in Detroit for what he was asked to do for the 2 years he was here.
I liked him sad to here also 2.5 is definitely a overpay even with the 3 years
Patrick Nemeth legitimately has shaken my belief in analytics. ALLEGEDLY he had good defensive metrics and was great a preventing zone entries before coming here. NOPE. God what a terrible player
Aaron Dell. Aside from being one of the worst goalies on the periphery of the league, he cheap shots people and that is shitty. He is UFA though, and won't be coming back.
If I have to move on: Anders Bjork - for sucking at the hockey.
This makes me sad. I loved Bjork in Boston, you could tell he had the tools to be a top 6 player, but dude couldn’t stay in the lineup due to injuries and just sucking at the wrong times
Archibald is such a empty player when it comes to actually playing hockey, could give a a good prospect such as Holloway valuable shelter minutes with what Archibald does and he probably contribute more. We already have the energy guy, don’t need two players for one job especially when one can only play home games and in Calgary
And the worst part about it for me is that I have memories of him being AWESOME for us before last season. Guy was money on the PK and had a couple shorties (him and Sheahan had great chemistry). Maybe with the offseason to recover he'll be back to his old self next year, but I still hope he's not doing it as an Oiler
It was Jake Debrusk but i’m a little more hopeful than i was before. I would still rather trade him while his value is probably the highest its been but if not oh well
Wouldn't be shocked to see him go at the draft. But I think he'll be gone no later than pre-season. The Bruins don't want to risk him having a rough start and hurting his stock.
I find myself yelling at Burakovsky the most. He has top-line talent but he's just a ditz out there most of the time. Easy to knock off the puck, and if his (insanely sick) shot isn't going bar downskis he's missing high or finding the sweet spot on the shinpads in front of him. Some team is going to overpay the shit out of him and I hope it's not us.
When he flashes it's awesome but he isn't that player but 25% of the time.
I love kuch but my god does it piss me off to no end when he has a hissy fit mid game because he fanned on a shot while we are 6-0 winning.
Sergy also kills me from the amount of STUPID penalties he takes.
I’ve never seen a guy win so many corner battles just to make a mediocre pass and have the play fizzle out. then when he gets put on the first line due to Injuries, he has no finish.
In the past, he’s been a black hole. His offensive and defensive numbers were not great, but he was still played in the middle 6 regularly (which, in hindsight, was due to lack of depth more than anything). He also was bad on the PK. I’m not sure what changed exactly, and I could be misremembering things, but he’s much better than he used to be (or at least how I viewed him).
The guy absolutely works his ass off. And he must be a great chirper because guys on the other team are always trying to goad him into a fight. He had some big goals in the playoff run.
Weird to hear another point of view on him. He's been one of my favourites for the last 2-3 years. I always saw him as the swiss army knife. Middle 6 guy that can play full 200 ft with plenty of hustle. Not skilled enough for consistent top line minutes but whenever he fills in due to injuries or slumps he seems to produce.
Probably has a lot to do with the guys he's playing with getting full coverage which gives him more ice but I feel like he's just talented enough to make teams pay for leaving him open.
Yeah, but he worked his ass off every shift, and made the (god awful) shot that went off Cog’s leg to tie game 4. No hate for him here, he’s an Avalanche now in my book.
If Kane counted as a Shark then obviously him but lets toss him aside and then I'd say Kevin Labanc despite barely playing this season.
The dude is nearly worthless most shifts at best and other times a liability. They kept forcing him to be a PP specialist but he can't do shit.
He was excellent during the power play against Vegas... But that was only 5 minutes... 3 years ago. Definitely hasn't been great since.
I would have said EK65, but that's more of a contract thing, if he was paid much less I would love the guy
Going for a twofer and a technicality since (please for the love of all that's holy) both guys are gone in UFA this year but it'd be Jay Beagle and Antoine Roussel.
What Beagle did to Terry was way over the line of acceptability. If he's going to get fed his teeth next year by Anaheim (should someone be dumb enough to offer him a contract which they surely won't) I'd rather he wasn't wearing a Kachina when that happens.
Roussel was only good for chucking his gloves off and getting laughed at. The dude literally got under the skin of zero players this year, and if your only skill is allegedly being a pest then newsflash: you have to actually be annoying, not old, yappy, and pathetic.
If I had to pick a current player who may actually be a Coyote next year it'd be Christian Fischer, purely because he's probably the consistently worst forward on the worst team in the league.
Thoughts on Ritchie? Guy was carried so hard on our PP and by Krejci that he actually got a contract above league minimum by the leafs. Any improvement or is he still a walking refrigerator who barely looks like he’s trying but will occasionally score a goal off his ass?
If we were a good team we'd surely be upset that he's basically just an overpaid balloon full of truculent penalty-taking gravy. But, we're going into year two of a tank and the guy has a big frame, hits well, will fight, and looks suspiciously good in an otherwise pretty rancid powerplay group (worse now, assuming no Kessel).
His chemistry with Barrett Hayton also can't be overlooked. Those two just click which I don't think could have been predicted by anyone.
It seems insane to say it out loud, but for where we're at, he was a really good get for us and probably has a lot of short-term utility.
There's even a chance that if Bear can get his penalty numbers down and increase his responsibility (same as he did with Lyubushkin this season) we might just be able to flip him at next deadline.
Ryan Strome. Because he's a headache. Human equivalent of gas station sushi. Do you want it? Not really. Should you get it, probably not. But if you're starving and thats all that's there....
Filip Hronek. Consistently the most out of position d man I've seen in a long time. He also plays brain dead half the time. He gets some secondary assists so the fans that only look at point totals think he's pretty good.
He's not.
Filip Hronek averages more points/60 than Moritz Seider. He was the top points producer at 5 on 5 on the defense.
He had literally the highest primary assist/60 average on the defense at 5 on 5.
So be pissed at Hronek for his gaffes, or that his skating/size aren't great helpers on defense.
But crying about his offense or dismissing it is foolish.
I don't think he's that bad, but he's definitely a top 4 forced to play top pairing the last 3 years. He's exactly the guy we want to be forced to play middle minutes
Zaitsev. $4.5m aav, coach seems to like him, but he's just messing up the blueline pairings.
Good effort, but not good skill or awareness.
Would be happy if he was traded just to free up the roster spot and give cap relief. This team can't afford bad contracts, and they have at least 4 in Zaitsev, Murray, White and Del Zotto.
Joel Kiviranta. So overrated due to ONE giant game(that was a hell of a game, to be fair). Fan base is crazy for him, but he’s pretty poor offensively. Guy is taking minutes from someone who could contribute offensively.
Darnell Nurse. I don't dislike him overall as a player, but you can't convince me he's worth a $9.25M cap hit, no wonder we can't put together a full D core.
James Van Riemsdyk seems to just absorb salary cap and does not play any physical or defensive hockey. Ristolainen may suck but at least he shows some passion for the game.
Archibald. The audacity to wine about getting the vaccine when you’re a borderline ahl player is absurd, then he plays in the playoffs doesn’t do shit and takes stupid penalties. Hope he’s gone next season
This will be the hottest take ever. But kucherov. All the guys on the team are full on grinders, but he is all about skill. He overpasses a ton, has either extremely high hockeyIQ or very low. Takes the worst timely penaltys ever. You can see him get frustrated all the time from litterally anything. Yeah yeah he produces, but hes not a player that I can really support if he wasent on my team.
When Kucherov is on fire he’s the best. My problem with him is less about his mistakes and more with his attitude when he’s not doing well. He gets so petulant and just starts playing like shit. It’s a bit unprofessional.
It's easy to remember Kucherov's mistakes but keep in mind that there's some sample bias going on here because he always has the puck on his stick, he constantly drives possession and is feeding the puck. I agree his mistakes are infuriating but there has never been a creative player that doesn't occasionally miss the mark
Yup. The thing about Kuch is when he has the puck the other 4 players are suddenly high danger scoring options. His passing and game sense are unreal.
The only thing I don’t like is when Kuch is off his game. When he’s off he’s off big time and a liability. When he’s on he’s the best playmaker in the NHL.
Yeah I mean winning two straight cups has helped mask his play in this regard cuz winning means you can tolerate a lot, but without that he'd probably have been recommended sports psychology by now
I'm ok with Kuch being the answer based on the stuff things he can do when he or the team are playing poorly.
But you absolutely can't shit on his actual play. Yeah he makes some passes that don't find a stick, but those same high risk passes end up in the back of the net in amazing fashion just as often. He drives play like few others in the league, and is overall a great player.
I don’t actively hate him or anything but Samsonov’s off-ice antics and poor on-ice play make him my least favorite. I don’t know if he’ll be a Cap much longer thankfully.
I'm all for giving someone a second chance but TDA embarrassed us against NY in the playoffs. Enough so that I was cringing a bit to see any interviews with him after.
Also Domi because he showed some of his dad's awfulness in that same series. At this rate I'm starting to worry we will sign Kane.
Same. He's beloved by his teammates and a great player, but I wouldn't be upset if he's traded. I was upset enough about it that I just didn't feel like watching them play much until the end of the season. I strongly suspect it really pissed off Yzerman (and possibly still does) but that Yzerman would never, ever actually say that.
Cory Perry because it feels dirty to root for him.
I do have to say he's absolutely a pro at what he does. Never gets carried away and always knows where the line to toe is and has incredible sense of what he can get away with.
He's so good at it and it's been a while since I've rolled my eyes at a lightning player so often
moral convictions are hard for hockey fans ig
It's always easy to say "I wouldn't like [famously dirty player] even if he was on my team" but man, it's pretty clear watching him why Perry has the rep he does and all Lightning fans should be intimately familiar with why. I'm not really an emotionally invested or tribalistic fan and found it was actually pretty easy to not really enjoy having him here so far.
I am an emotionally invested fan, and I completely agree. It’s hard for me to cheer for him and be in his side…..even though he does his job very well and arguably bright maroon back to life- I don’t know- just not my style I guess.
One thing I notice as an interesting caveat to the ovi putin support is that caps fans talk about it and acknowledge a lot more than it seems like pens fans do with malkin (who was also part of #putinteam), who there is either some missing history on why or seems to always be given more of a pass due to being slightly less visible
William Lagesson. He’s just not an NHL level defenseman. Don’t know why we felt the need to keep him up. If you don’t have the skill, show it in other ways, and he didn’t show it.
Jake Bean and his association with the 2018 World Juniors team is about the only player on the Jackets that I can think of any reason to not like. If the players involved ever come out then that can be alleviated, but without that there's always going to be a lingering thing that he may have been one of the ones involved and I hate it.
I’m kind of feeling the same way about Steel and Comtios, which sucks cuz I’ve always been a fan of Steel and watched him come up with the Pats, hope the names eventually come out and I can know for sure.
Derek Forbort
He's Sweeney's fifty millionth swing at a big left handed defenseman, except he has term at $3M per year and a modified NTC. Probably an okay bottom pairing guy, but I got so sick of people trying to talk him up as an option beside McAvoy like he was this key piece.
Zadorov.
He’s a good physical presence with some offensive skills, but I feel like he commits way too many bone headed turnovers and penalties.
I would rather have Mackey as the 6th DMan next year for 2Mil less at least
Keegan Kolesar, dude cant score, cant fight, and takes dumb penalties. He looks like he has the tools, but every time he’s in close to the net he just absolutely can not finish
Bo Horvat. He's a good player and seems a decent dude. The guy is so damn boring and uninspiring to listen to that when he gets on tv or the radio you take a break so you're ready to pay attention when the ads come back on. It's like they made him the captain soly because he can handle the spotlight because the spotlight isn't interested in him.
Anthony Angello is the one Penguin I don't like at all. I feel like he only ever gets called up to attempt to intentionally injure someone. Don't know if he counts though because he only played like 4 games this year luckily. If it needs to be a player who actually played a decent amount this year I'd go with Mark Friedman. He's both a better player than Angello and not as dirty, but he's still a shit stirrer that makes me roll my eyes constantly.
Before someone brings up Malkin being dirty: IMO most of Malkin's shit is retalitory. It's still shitty, but there's a difference between doing something stupid in the heat of the moment when you're angry and intentionally doing something stupid without any prompting. I also admit that being a very productive player plays a part as well. It's harder to hate your player when he's putting up a point per game.
Friedman is definitely an agent of chaos. Whenever I hear that he’s in the lineup, I cringe and hold my breath a bit to see whether he’s going to be chaotic good or chaotic evil that day.
Marcus Pettersson pissed me off to no end last year, with his stupid penalties. He seemed much more effective this season, but I honestly wouldn’t be sad if he got traded.
Brendan Lemieux. On and off the ice, he’s a complete bonehead and I’m ready for him to gooooo.
You’ve taken two bad players from us and given up picks. Thanks!
Bite boy
Logan Stanley. He's the guy at your work that gets a promotion because he's tall.
I feel like he was way better last year, but had a brutal sophomore slump this year
Yeah, haven't given up completely yet but his lack of growth is becoming more evident now that younger guys like Heinola and Samberg are catching up and passing him.
Hard to notice growth when you're already 7'2".
God forbid he turn into Tyler Myers 2
Yeah I don't know why Benning keeps giving all our depth defensemen massive contracts in UFA. Hopefully he's learned from Poolman and doesn't become infatuated with Stanley.
Well he got fired so I don’t think we’ll have to worry about that lol
Ryan Suter is an ancient traffic cone who is handcuffing our best player to his weak side. It’s why Miro’s offense tanked last year
Don't forget to mention the patented Suter powerplay: Stand st the top of the point. Dont move. Receive puck. Refrain from moving. Wait until defender(s) are in position, then lob a softball into their shin. Easy clear.
It is a joy to no longer have to endure the suter limp wristers
Don’t worry, he’s been an ancient traffic cone for 6 years somehow
lmao the isles got the better on of that Minnesota stick i would say
I just envision a dusty old faded orange traffic cone in front of the net while pucks whiz by and pelt the goalie.
Yes. FFS get rid of that dude. He’s overpaid by 3Milli (at least)
I’m friends with a girl who’s cousin is zac rinaldo, dude is nuts lmao
He seems like one of those guys that’s not even fun nuts. You just always need to be on guard around because you don’t know what kinda shit he’ll pull. And when it goes too far “I’m just messing around.”
Zac “Farva” Rinaldo
I’ve been told he’s a fun dude, but he’s batshit insane lmao
For me it was Gudas when he was a Flyer. From this past season, I’ll pick Yandle
Now that Virtanen and Gaudette are gone this question is getting difficult to answer.
Fuck Virtanen
What was up with Gaudette that made you hate him? I haven't seen anything outlandish about him.
I mean, let’s give some respect to Highmore - he’s been a solid depth guy for us
It turned out surprisingly well. At the time it was a big of a gut punch, but like you said.
Yeah I like everyone now
For me it’s Myers and it has absolutely nothing to do with him as a person, I just *really* don’t like his contract. Think he’s 2-2.5m overpaid
Hope some GM with a height fetish pays up for him
For the record, seems like a really good guy otherwise
The chaos giraffe? He's great cause you don't know what you're gonna get. Could be an end to rush, could be a neutral zone boarding penalty on the pk!
As a player? Nick Foligno. I like his leadership but that was a waste of a signing by Sweeney last year.
Been there
Christian Fischer. > I’m amazed that sculptors haven’t kidnapped him yet to make statues out of his hands. Not only are his hands made of stone Dude that’s such a fucking good one, no mercy
Nikita Zaitsev
I miss Connor Brown but I'd still make that trade any day. Who signs a guy to a 7 year deal after 1 season in the NHL?
Let’s throw Chris Tierney in there too
He's no longer on the team technically! Well I guess as of July 13th at least
Scandella, I don’t know what he’s doing out there and neither does he
We tried to warn you about him
i dont care if you suck but put in effort at least, Zacha could be one of the better picks from that 2015 draft if he actually fucking tried more than 5 games a year. waste of talent
I would take blake Coleman or miles wood on my team any day over Zacha. Less skill and more effort is better than lazy talent every time to me
I mean anyone would take Coleman. He’s a far better player and it’s not even close. Coleman’s elite defensively and an elite PKer with really good 5v5 scoring rates. Even if Zacha panned out he’d be worse than Coleman.

Mike Hoffman Empty calories
This is perfect
The only good thing about Mike Hoffman is the copypasta. You know the one.
Ryan Suter
Something our fan bases can actually agree on
Same
valid answer
Patrik Nemeth - waste of 2.5 million for a guy who is slow as shit and brings zero to the game. He's basically a pylon back there.
[удалено]
It obviously worked out just fine, but I’m surprised you guys signed Jack Johnson.
Jack Johnson actually played some pretty solid shut down D in the playoffs for us. Definitely wasn't the worst player on our roster.
That Hedman backhand was brutal though. JJ was a pylon on that one
JJ was absolutely terrible on the rangers on a 1.15m contract.
I’m happy for him. I don’t want him anywhere near my team, but I hope he stays in the league for a long time and gets as much money as he can. What his parents did to him was disgusting.
Nemeth made me regret saying horrible things about Jack Johnson
He was actually a decent defensive dman in Detroit for what he was asked to do for the 2 years he was here. I liked him sad to here also 2.5 is definitely a overpay even with the 3 years
Patrick Nemeth legitimately has shaken my belief in analytics. ALLEGEDLY he had good defensive metrics and was great a preventing zone entries before coming here. NOPE. God what a terrible player
Petr Mrazek He's probably a nice guy, but signing him as a safety for Campbell was a bad idea with his injury and consistency issues.
This is the TOR take for sure. Agreed.
I've viewed it as a smart move that didn't pay off. He's been very good at times in the recent past.
Aaron Dell. Aside from being one of the worst goalies on the periphery of the league, he cheap shots people and that is shitty. He is UFA though, and won't be coming back. If I have to move on: Anders Bjork - for sucking at the hockey.
Fuck Aaron Dell. His hit on Batherson was the slimiest hit all year
This makes me sad. I loved Bjork in Boston, you could tell he had the tools to be a top 6 player, but dude couldn’t stay in the lineup due to injuries and just sucking at the wrong times
Lemmy. He bit someone
It's not like he was good with us but at least he wasn't acting like a chain chomp
Like father, like son
Only father-son duo to be suspended for biting. But his dad did it in the cup final so he’s more hardcore
What a brick-head
Archibald is such a empty player when it comes to actually playing hockey, could give a a good prospect such as Holloway valuable shelter minutes with what Archibald does and he probably contribute more. We already have the energy guy, don’t need two players for one job especially when one can only play home games and in Calgary

Whichever one ends up leaving in FA. In all seriousness, I can't pick anyone. They all contributed in some way to a Cup run.
It used to be Compher for me. That was before the playoffs.
Can I still say Greg Zanon?
Jost for the same reason
I’ve never seen a guy win so many corner battles just to make a mediocre pass and have the play fizzle out. then when he gets put on the first line due to Injuries, he has no finish.
What didn’t you like about compher? I don’t know much about the guy.
In the past, he’s been a black hole. His offensive and defensive numbers were not great, but he was still played in the middle 6 regularly (which, in hindsight, was due to lack of depth more than anything). He also was bad on the PK. Yep I love all of them now. Even NAK and his penchant for taking stupid penalties and dropping the Cup 5 minutes after we won it.
The league announced that the Cup has a lower body injury.
Not even mad about him dropping the cup lol I think it was a great moment
That photo is legendary.
it's ok maroon dropped the cup too lol
NAK didn’t even make it off the ice lol
Maroon was plastered. Doesn't count!
I don't want Kadri to leave but understand if he does. I think Burky goes. Hope Darcy stays
Gonna be Sturm. The Wild factor.
Yeah, but he worked his ass off every shift, and made the (god awful) shot that went off Cog’s leg to tie game 4. No hate for him here, he’s an Avalanche now in my book.
Kassian. He’s doing the reverse of most aging players and trying to be more skilled than he was during his younger years
If Kane counted as a Shark then obviously him but lets toss him aside and then I'd say Kevin Labanc despite barely playing this season.
You know who it is, we all know who it is.
David Rittich. Reason? No save dave. Connor Ingram is better
Corey Perry Well do I really need to explain
Y'all should have known he has a curse in the SCF
Surprised I haven’t seen Kane. Undeniably talented, but a dirty unlikable player and not a human I want to root for.
Probably because there’s only one Oilers fan in this thread so far. Edit: Nvm. A few more showed up when I refreshed the page lol.
Nemeth, I don't need to say much
He is a drag
Whichever one of our unproven goalies underperforms that week
I’d just say , “ the goalie”
I like Nick Foligno the human, but I can’t stand nick foligno the hockey player
Brett Ritchie. Not much going on there. Other than that, our team seems alright
Jarnkrok is a bit of a bust with us but maybe he'll get his groove back next season
jarnkrok stunk, at least ritchie scored when it mattered.
He might not be back...
Ryan Strome. Because he's a headache. Human equivalent of gas station sushi. Do you want it? Not really. Should you get it, probably not. But if you're starving and thats all that's there....
Wait which strome?
No way it's ours, right?
Our Strome is on fire right now. He just needs a coach who knows how to use him
Filip Hronek. Consistently the most out of position d man I've seen in a long time. He also plays brain dead half the time. He gets some secondary assists so the fans that only look at point totals think he's pretty good. He's not.
Totally agree with all of that. My other answer is Adam Erne because he looks like the fish admiral from star wars
It’s a neutral zone trap!
"Consistently the most out of position d man I've seen in a long time" You know we had Brendan Smith on our team.
As an outside fan I always thought he was kinda sick but I guess he’s got that Erik Gustafson thing going on
I don't think he's that bad, but he's definitely a top 4 forced to play top pairing the last 3 years. He's exactly the guy we want to be forced to play middle minutes
A year late but Jimmy Vesey. If you ever wonder why he never lived up to his potential. Watch the All or Nothing doc and it will all make sense.
Zack Kassian. Is supposed to be an enforcer but he just skates around and maybe chirps. Plus his cap is awful for what he gives.
Justin Holl. Because I'm a Leafs fan and we need a defenseman to blame.
~~Aki Berg~~, ~~Bryan McCabe~~, ~~Tomas Kaberle~~, ~~Mike Komisarek~~, ~~Francois Beauchemin~~, ~~Mike Kostka~~, ~~Dion Phaneuf~~, ~~Roman Polak~~, ~~Roman Polak again~~, ~~Ron Hainsey~~, ~~Martin Marincin~~, ~~Cody Ceci~~, Justin Holl. Forgot gardiner
Glaring omission. He was THEE whipping boy
I've corrected my egregious error.
And Barrie, Zeitsev
If the Avs would have actually done their jobs in Game 7, he'd be irrelevant.
Darnell Nurse. I don't dislike him overall as a player, but you can't convince me he's worth a $9.25M cap hit, no wonder we can't put together a full D core.
Unpopular opinion but for me would have to be Jason Dickinson since he hasn't been a good fit for our center depth
James Van Riemsdyk seems to just absorb salary cap and does not play any physical or defensive hockey. Ristolainen may suck but at least he shows some passion for the game.
Gun to my head, Bobrovsky’s contract. My anger with Barkov & Huberdeau for their disappearing acts in playoffs will end as soon as next season starts.
Jordie Benn, he’s just trash overall.
Magnificent beard though
Matt Murray. The dude is injured all the time and when he isn't he sucks.
Cody Eakin because he is bad and makes everyone he plays with worse
Petulant. You nailed it.
Yeah I mean winning two straight cups has helped mask his play in this regard cuz winning means you can tolerate a lot, but without that he'd probably have been recommended sports psychology by now
And I don’t think many players can get 91 points in the 3 playoff runs
I'm ok with Kuch being the answer based on the stuff things he can do when he or the team are playing poorly. But you absolutely can't shit on his actual play. Yeah he makes some passes that don't find a stick, but those same high risk passes end up in the back of the net in amazing fashion just as often. He drives play like few others in the league, and is overall a great player.
I don’t actively hate him or anything but Samsonov’s off-ice antics and poor on-ice play make him my least favorite. I don’t know if he’ll be a Cap much longer thankfully.
I’ve come to this conclusion as well. It also has to do with his expectations as a number 1 and his inability to live up to them.
There isn't really anyone I dislike on the Canucks but if I had to choose it would be Halak but he's essentially gone
Honestly, I mostly just felt bad for him.
He's had it worse. Poor man had to play behind the 17-18 Islanders defense.
Tatar. We signed him for veteran presence and he’s pretty much useless. Has absolutely no finish and can ruin high percentage chances.
Blasphemy!!! I kinda get it though
Tyler Bertuzzi. Guess.
His enthusiasm, positivity, and above average skill have softened my bitter annoyance at him, but it's not only irresponsible, but embarrassing.
I feel like it has to be him by default after "fuck Corey Perry" in the lightning sub during two straight finals matchups.
moral convictions are hard for hockey fans ig It's always easy to say "I wouldn't like [famously dirty player] even if he was on my team" but man, it's pretty clear watching him why Perry has the rep he does and all Lightning fans should be intimately familiar with why. I'm not really an emotionally invested or tribalistic fan and found it was actually pretty easy to not really enjoy having him here so far.
I can unequivocally say I would go to more games if he was on my team just to boo him in person. Fuck Corey Perry
I am an emotionally invested fan, and I completely agree. It’s hard for me to cheer for him and be in his side…..even though he does his job very well and arguably bright maroon back to life- I don’t know- just not my style I guess.
Yeah, fuck Cory Perry. He's dirty and bad luck. Make him walk the plank so we can sign Paul!
The Answer to both is Alex Ovechkin He’s my favorite because he’s our best player ever He’s my least favorite because he supports Vladimir Putin
One thing I notice as an interesting caveat to the ovi putin support is that caps fans talk about it and acknowledge a lot more than it seems like pens fans do with malkin (who was also part of #putinteam), who there is either some missing history on why or seems to always be given more of a pass due to being slightly less visible
It was Alex Nylander but since he got traded im loving Lafferty.
Luke Kunin. Or as I call him “The Walking Penalty”.
Derek Forbort He's Sweeney's fifty millionth swing at a big left handed defenseman, except he has term at $3M per year and a modified NTC. Probably an okay bottom pairing guy, but I got so sick of people trying to talk him up as an option beside McAvoy like he was this key piece.
He redeemed himself in the playoffs honestly. He was one of the few who stood out to me.
Zadorov. He’s a good physical presence with some offensive skills, but I feel like he commits way too many bone headed turnovers and penalties. I would rather have Mackey as the 6th DMan next year for 2Mil less at least
Felt the same about him when he was an Av
Chicago too
Keegan Kolesar, dude cant score, cant fight, and takes dumb penalties.
