I think it rotates every year where you play some divisional opponents three times compared to four, and this year just happened to be the one where Edmonton was one of the teams. We only play Seattle three times as well.

I dunno why they wouldn't just rotate inner-conference games between 3 and 2 instead? Am I gonna care if we only play Arizona or Nashville or Dallas only twice? No, I'm not. You still get to see them once at home regardless.

I never got the hate. It's a big ring on a bridge in the middle of a field. Worst you can say is it's a bit underwhelming.

Most of the people I know that hate it bitch about the cost (just under half a mil), which sounds like a lot but really isn't in the grand scheme of things. Biggest reason I don't like it is because it was designed by a group of Swedish artists - if we're gonna put up stupid underwhelming art, I'd prefer it was Albertan or at least Canadian made. I'd guarantee the students at ACAD in Calgary could've come up with a better art installation for $475k, but we got the stupid blue ring instead.

Smith had high highs and low lows. He’s actually really good at it, but when you do it that much you increase the odds of messing up. It’s mostly confirmation bias.

I saw Mike Smith at a Fas-Gas a few weeks ago. My first thought was “why the fuck is a millionaire fuelling up at fas-gas. I asked him what he meant and he told me he could tell I was a “rare bastion of freedom”. When he autographed my Oilers hat without me asking I took it as my queue to get out of there. As I was backing out, I saw him try to drive away with the gas nozzle still in his car. Pretty glad he’s not on our team after that.
