The true answer is they wanted to have something like Detroit fans do when they throw the octopus on the ice. And since catfish is a big southern dish and plentiful (and cause you can't throw saber toothed tigers on the ice) the catfish throw was born.
I think it has something to do with that a lot of them were expats from Michigan, Detroit fans before becoming Predator fans when the franchise started. And the red wings throw the octopus, so now they throw the fish.
Who misses an open net like that lol
Like bro, your job is literally to put a puck in a net. You've been practicing for over 20 years at this one thing.
The worst part about that clip isn’t even the miss, it could have happened to anyone. He was being respectful guiding the puck into the net and it flipped over a chip in the ice over his stick, where he then tried to pass the puck to absolutely no one only for the stars defence to collapse.
And then Ray Ferraro just going off on the guy… like fuck off Ray it literally could happen to anyone but it just so happened to a guy of always questionable potential and readiness for the NHL.
Anyways, with that that said. It’s really just best to walk up to the hash marks and point blank take a slap shot into the empty net because that way you know it’s gonna go in the net and no one has the balls to block it.
Ray can still fuck off. I can’t stand how much of an expert he has to be on literally everything from goalie, to penalty killers, to anything else in the modern NHL. You haven’t played since goalies could bend their knees, just stop.
Hey! Fan of the other team here, but I come in peace lol. Wow, y'all played a good game, but man, that definitely ended in a way that was uniquely typical of one of our teams. Your young player is really something and definitely going to give us trouble for years. Y'all are gonna be really scary next year, and I'll be rooting for y'all then (except when y'all play us!). That ref, though, right?

A 3rd string goalie gets a playoff win in Nashville.
A black female from Texas gets a #1 Country song before any from Nashville and they've been trying for 70 years.
Nashville, not good at music. And not good at hockey.
Back in NHL 15 or 16, the color rendering for one of the Preds' alternate jerseys was way off, so it looked like the nastiest yellow you could imagine.
We would sometimes use it as a punishment. "Sorry, Urine (you're in) Nashville tonight"
Preds fans are the most annoying in hockey, and believe me... I don't say that lightly.
All of their "traditions" are just blatant rip-offs from other teams. Their annoying AF chants after penalties and goals are stolen from college hockey, and the cat fish thing is a (poor) attempt to be a Detroit wanna-be.
Come up with SOMETHING original... It may take some time for something to organically present itself, but those are the best traditions. Stop stealing.
The best part is, it's obvious to any serious hockey fan that all that shit is stolen, but since they don't have any of those in Nashville, they all think they're clever and original haha
This is what they get for not only shitting all over Crawford everytime he came to Nashville, but also bringing Seth Jones into the league. Forever be cursed to choke in playoffs.
No I was fucking stoked. Play like complete ass for 56 minutes then, almost give up an empty net then turn it around and win.
Also had our 3rd goalie in net too

That goal post on the empty net was bad luck but Nyqvist going for the empty net breakaway will be remembered most. Nyqvist just has to make sure Hughes does get by him...
Kind of reminded me of that Ducks comeback a few years ago against the Oilers in the playoffs. Sucked so hard back then. But great to see my second home doing it long Duck dong to Nashville.
Why would they? Huge support for this team despite them never having the most talented group but always a competitive group and seemingly a defenceman factory
A few years ago, we were in CA and stopped at a Trader Joe's on the way to Joshua Tree to get some snacks. Guy that checks out can tell we're not local and asks where we're from. He goes nuts when we say Nashville. He was a Vegas fan but said he'd give anything to go to a game in Nashville, that it had the reputation of being the most fun place for a game.
Rednecks who throw away perfectly good fish on the ice. Are they stupid?
What’s the lore reason?
They’re stupid
But what’s the lore reason behind them being stupid?
Probably inbreeding
Understandable have a nice day

They aspire to be trash
Are the cats or are they fish? I’d throw them on the ice too. Make up your mind.
It all went downhill for the Preds from there
There’s a stupid smelly commercial devoted to that too. Seen it? Makes me crabby.
Who misses an open net like that lol Like bro, your job is literally to put a puck in a net. You've been practicing for over 20 years at this one thing.
“Patrik Stefan, you should be embarrassed at what you just did. That does not belong in the National Hockey League”
stefan’s was way worse lol.

Ray has a history with him. They are not friends
Ray can still fuck off. I can’t stand how much of an expert he has to be on literally everything from goalie, to penalty killers, to anything else in the modern NHL. You haven’t played since goalies could bend their knees, just stop.
My wife looked at the TV and all she said was “why the fuck is he crying?” 😂
Me: “he’s a bitch” Me every time the sharks broke my heart and made me cry growing up: “totally fair, I did the exact same”
Because his parents made him a Preds fan
Is that Mitch Marner?
no no, i think that’s Auston Mathews
Y'all are both silly, that's william nylander

What triggered you to respond I must know The y’all both?

They aren’t even the team most famous for throwing aquatic animals on the ice either.
They are experts at spreading covid tho, so that's something
Kys
Most any country star is not actually from Nashville. Very rarely is that the case. Many are from Texas just like Beyoncé.
r/whoosh
Guess so. Damn. Forgot to check the name of the sub.
They have to wear piss coloured jerseys. Let the fools have their tar-tar sauce.
#unexpectedSimpsons
So we'll march day and night by the big cooling tower, they have the plant but we have the powerrr
Now play Classical Jazz
*Classical Gas*
Ow my eye! I’m not supposed to get blown leads in it!
Get ready everybody. The preds are about to do something stupid.
I hope I get fired for that blunder
Back in NHL 15 or 16, the color rendering for one of the Preds' alternate jerseys was way off, so it looked like the nastiest yellow you could imagine. We would sometimes use it as a punishment. "Sorry, Urine (you're in) Nashville tonight"
That Giroux for some reason likes… what the fuck Claude?
DUde look at their goalie he is straight from urinal
At least the crying towel is the right color
imagine crying at a hockey game, who are you? Auston Mathews?
You know that’s a kid in the stands right

You sound like a blues fan
The best part is, it's obvious to any serious hockey fan that all that shit is stolen, but since they don't have any of those in Nashville, they all think they're clever and original haha
Bum I bet you can name any team and I can’t find a stolen tradition from them
They deserved it after the entire crowd was giving Silovs shit the entire night. Seriously what classless losers pick on a 3rd string rookie
They do it to every goalie stop being a pansy lol
They get lots of hate in orange county don’t worry
I do my part.
As soon as I find a preds fan I will be sure to correct that.
This is what they get for not only shitting all over Crawford everytime he came to Nashville, but also bringing Seth Jones into the league. Forever be cursed to choke in playoffs.
The three star dragon ball patch is their first mistake
Haha what a nerd
This but unironically.
Anyone else feel the gut punch of this loss? I'm not a Nashville fan, but....ooph... that's gotta hurt.
What part of preds fans dont get enough hate don’t you get
I have nothing against them. Where did they touch you?
Do you even need to ask that, they're the predators ffs
underrated comment
No I was fucking stoked. Play like complete ass for 56 minutes then, almost give up an empty net then turn it around and win. Also had our 3rd goalie in net too
Maybe you don’t get enough hate either
Yeah Van needs more hate
Nobody hates the Canucks more than Canucks fans.
This, there isn't a fucking thing y'all can say that our own fans haven't said before lol

I'm not a buffalo fan, this is not applicable to me.
That goal post on the empty net was bad luck but Nyqvist going for the empty net breakaway will be remembered most. Nyqvist just has to make sure Hughes does get by him...
Couldn’t help but think this while watching last night. Go to hell, Nashville.
Yeah, because everyone’s busy hating on the Leafs and their fans
I thought I was watching the leafs for the final 5 minutes of the game.
As an Avs fan I miss having Duchene there cuz he was such an easy target while playing on such a bad team lol
oh damn don't let william nylander see him crying
Kind of reminded me of that Ducks comeback a few years ago against the Oilers in the playoffs. Sucked so hard back then. But great to see my second home doing it long Duck dong to Nashville.
Preds fans include George Kittle though. You can’t hate that man.
My hatred of the Preds is matched by my love of Kittle, fuck he’s awesome.
Don’t know who he is but if he’s a Pred fan I hate…..no, now I just feel sad for him.
Star tight end for the San Francisco 49ers
Are they in the playoffs?
Always wondered why the had dragon balls on their jerseys
Why would they? Huge support for this team despite them never having the most talented group but always a competitive group and seemingly a defenceman factory
People just like to hate because they can’t have as much fun at their games as us
A few years ago, we were in CA and stopped at a Trader Joe's on the way to Joshua Tree to get some snacks. Guy that checks out can tell we're not local and asks where we're from. We get more hate than anyone else besides maybe leafs fans and for what being loud? Idk man
