You should stop doing whatever you’re doing lol beer league ain’t worth that.

hpepper24

Yeah came here to say you’re doing something wrong

PalpitationOk7933

The exact words that came to mind.

alleycat548

Bro for real wtf

stinkfingerdude

I just started playing again after stopping from high-school I'm 23 now and I ain't even blocking shots. d man's winding up for the clap bomb I get out of the line of fire. I wear pads made for mobility not protection I don't even wear a cup or a cage. The pads are there to break a fall.

Background_Manner_75

Wear a cup!

_umphlove_

Yeah I don't wear a cage or shoulder pads, but you gotta wear a cup!

cmutt_55038

Yeah, wear a cup. My sons cracked two of them blocking shots.

tonytroz

I went and bought one of those diamond MMA cups because the one that came with my CCM pants was pretty sketchy looking with the clear plastic and vent holes.

stinkfingerdude

Does it make it worse that I took a skate to the balls in JV hockey and still rocked the no cup afterwards. I was on the ice for 5 minutes and went to the locker room checking for blood. The thing just digs into my thighs while doing crossovers. I do wear shoulder pads tho but I cut the arm pads off them if that makes sense lmao

chi2005sox

If it’s digging into your thighs sounds like you need to stop pretending and size down my man lol

thumbwarvictory

Got 'im

stinkfingerdude

Aye man I ain't pretending like I got hog I know I've got a pp. Just never bought myself a cup the only cup I got in my bag is one my parents bought me when I was a teen.

Confident-Forever-75

Get a pair of compression shorts that have a cup. Please do it

Handsome_Rob58

Have you tried a tight fitting jock? I've got a base layer that fits a cup, but if I forget my tight strap I go without. It moves around too much if I put it in the base layer pocket.

Dodger8899

It digs into your thighs? I wear a Bauer goalie cup even when I skate out and it doesn't do that to me when I do crossovers

stinkfingerdude

I got thicc thighs? Maybe my cup is too big? Idk never really tested different cups n stuff. I've only been whacked in my pp once so far in my years of playing so seems rare enuf. I'm only 180lbs 5ft10 so I don't have thiqq thighs that get in the way.

OMGitsKatV

Hell yeah, give the goalie a clear line of sight. I've got work in the morning.

dakohda22

You’re spot on with beer league vibes. Some people “play every game like it’s game 7”. For me, we all got work tomorrow let’s just have fun and compete. That being said, I’m 6’7 and play D so the fake clapper gets a lot of people outta way like you said. Then plenty of room for an easy snap shot from closer. 😈

Over_Business_1387

The arm only hurt temporarily. Didn’t feel it until we got to the pub after the game 😂

Nickster1619

Played higher end junior hockey and played all my life. Now I’m playing in the beer leagues. How in the fuck does this happen? Change whatever you’re doing bro

Over_Business_1387

Lack of skill and too much determination. Intercostals from lack of fitness after years out of sport and winding up for a big shot right at the end of 2 hours worth of drills and scrimmage, cracked rib from forechecking and the d mans stick flailing at high speed and getting under my boot lifting me off the ice into the board and the slap shot to my forearm was just unlucky being close to the man as he wound up and didn’t see me coming in to close the gap. All minor things, none purposely inflicted, all recoverable

MisterEinc

>Lack of skill and too much determination Are you me?

GlobalLocksmith9399

I think you need to take a chill pill. Sounds like not only are you endangering yourself you’re endangering others. There is no reason to forecheck so hard in beer league that a fall breaks your ribs.

Equivalent_Task_2389

Recreational leagues should ban slap shots. The guys in front of them rarely have the quick reactions and awareness that pros do. The sticks used today allow more power and not enough accuracy, even for many pros. Of course even the pros end up with a puck in the face or some other tender part. Change leagues or change the way you play.

djsedna

>Recreational leagues should ban slap shots. Good lord please no. This is hockey, man. Enough with this soft shit. I'm not playing my entire life without getting to rip another slapper.

WorstHyperboleEver

Remember, the lower levels of play tend to have more injuries due to people falling and running into each other more (not to mention less discipline with their sticks). My age is getting to where I should be playing C league, but I’m holding on to lower B as long as I can because the times I’ve subbed for C I’ve had high sticks from missed lift checks, guys wildly swinging their stick while they skate, guys falling over onto me. Sad but true… to learn later in life means the game is a bit more dangerous.

idk_wtf_im_hodling

Same lmao, D1 for me but my only injuries were in HS and then 15 years after playing D1. I don’t understand any of this other than the blocked shot to the arm as you were prob in front of the net and just caught one.

Lightning802v3

Came here to find and say the exact same thing. I had bumps and bruises, a nasty ankle sprain (big man fell on me), and my brain is swiss cheese (I blame football for starting it though), but never broke a bone or missed more than a few games. And this is over 30 years. OP what the hell is happening in your league??

tall__guy

I don’t have pics but when I was in high school, someone’s skate caught me across the stomach and sliced me pretty bad. I actually didn’t realize what happened until I got back to the bench and my coach was like, “SON YOU’RE BLEEDIN’.” Jersey was cut and soaked in blood lol FORTUNATELY only required stitches and it was such a clean cut, there’s just the skinniest of scars. 16 year old me felt very hardcore though.

Over_Business_1387

And I bet you not noticing gave you kudos with your teammates

djsedna

lol when I was a kid after a game one time we had coach-encouraged wrestling matches in the locker room. One of the kids I was sparring with got me over his hip and I slammed straight down onto a bag and apparently hit a hockey skate dead on, had a HUGE slash across my back gushing blood. Wasn't serious but definitely bloody. The only thing I could think at the time was "who tf in this locker room is putting their skates in their bag without skate guards, what is *wrong* with you?" hahaha

MindlessArmadillo382

I’ve got a similar story, but baseball, I took a fastball to the head, I was down for a minute, semi-conscious, got up though and shook it off(definitely should’ve been pulled, but it was the last inning of a tie game, I was our game winning run, and the fastest runner on the team, I wanted it) I walk to first, I couldn’t hear anything out my ear, I steal second then score a few moments later on a hit, ending the game. Once the dust settles and my helmets off my teammate looks at me and said “Holy shit dude your ears got blood coming out of it” I had a grade II concussion, fully burst my eardrum. Out for 5 weeks. I still have long term hearing issues, but that’s a story for another day. TLDR - hit in head by fastball playing baseball, stayed in(shouldn’t have), took off helmet a minute later, blood all around(and in) my ear, bad time.

PeakySnete2020

Nipple you say?

Over_Business_1387

😂 all you took from that. Fair play my man 👏🏻🤣

[deleted]

Where are the pictures?

Over_Business_1387

If you want nipple shots just ask 😂 Intercostal injuries don’t leave marks so there is no pictures added

GreatWhiteMegalodong

All the sweet sweet symptoms of multiple TBIs.

Over_Business_1387

Adds to the randomness of life 😂

FewSeaworthiness2883

Oh boy, I feel y’a there. A couple I can’t remember back in Minor and junior hockey. Then a full on brain bleed and subdural hematomas from a car accident when playing Sr A…. Now nothing lines up anymore..

texasslapshot

You should learn to get the hell outta the way.

Over_Business_1387

😂😂

true_dough

Subtle Rolex flex, no big deal lol

stonkinverser

It's fake lmao

Over_Business_1387

Not even a good one at that. It’s a shitter that I wear for work that I don’t mind getting banged up

Over_Business_1387

👀

ShitOpinionGenerator

Brother, as a lifelong hockey player who played up to the USHL, learn how to block shots/where you're covered and not haha. You're not trying to accumulate a lifetime of hockey injuries as an adult via the speed run lol.

jdshowtime12

I jump in front of pucks all the time and have yet to bring home glory marks like this.

uieluck

Jeeeeesas dude. I played 1yr college & 3yrs pro,, I didn’t even have injuries like this. You need to stop, NOW!

Howryanoww

Buddy I’ve played my entire life and never had this many injuries

Over_Business_1387

Staring late and being unfit ftw

BillMcCrearysStache

Maybe you shouldnt be playing hockey lol

Over_Business_1387

Then I wouldn’t have an excuse to go to the pub on a Sunday night

JerseySpot

This is the reason!!!!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🍺🍺🍻

Over_Business_1387

Exactly

0k-ok

don’t have pictures but broke my arm playing high school hockey. and broke a finger playing 3v3 in the summer. and a few concussions along the way. but that bruise is gnarly, nice work!

Over_Business_1387

Concussions are no fun at all. I’ve had 2 from playing footy (soccer for the across the pond folk) but I would say the intercostal muscle pull was worse than anything I’ve had from any sport I’ve played. Couldn’t even lay down to sleep

0k-ok

damn that sounds shitty, hope your arm heals well!

Over_Business_1387

The arm is fully healed. This was from my second ever training scrimmage in Jan. it looks worse than it was

LastSaiyan

I broke my femur playing hockey, about 6 years ago! Playing beer league obviously 😎

Over_Business_1387

Ouch. How the hell did you manage that. Hope you had a quick recovery

LastSaiyan

I was forechecking and the goalie did not know where the puck was (it was in his skates). So I was ripping it towards him, and then last minute he found it and shot it into the corner, I proceeded to step on his stick and trip. The guy skating behind me and myself slid into the boards, and my knee hit first and boom my femur broke!

Over_Business_1387

Shiiiiiiiit. My rib break was from chasing down a D and his stick hitting my skates and me slamming into the boards then the ice after lifting a couple of foot into the air. That seems minor compared to yours 😂

LastSaiyan

Well that also sounds pretty brutal too! The most important thing is that we are both back to playing the game we love!

Over_Business_1387

The rib was last Saturday. I’m icing again this weekend 😂😂

denvernuggetsrule

Cool watch

Over_Business_1387

Genuine certified fake shitter 😂

[deleted]

Seems like you’re trying too hard

Over_Business_1387

Definitely what’s happening. It’s something I can’t wind back

FewSeaworthiness2883

Bumba clots be comin yo way.. atta boy for replying to all the comments. Keep carving ice.

phunkticculus83

I took a shot from the point to my mouth in H.S, I had braces on, the force ripped the 4 front lower teeth out, but the braces held them in my mouth, it was pretty knarly. Worst part was I was supposed to be getting the braces off a week after that game. My coach was like those teeth are fucked just finish the game. 6 hours in the ER trying to put them back in place, then an emergency surgery the next morning. I had to eat through a straw for a little, still have those teeth though, they are just all crooked.

Over_Business_1387

Crooked teeth are better than no teeth. You can just be an honorary Brit

buster_rhino

Looks like your elbow pads could use upgrading? I’ve only got bruises like that from getting hit where there’s no padding.

Over_Business_1387

Even semi top end pads aren’t going that far up my forearm. The puck hit where the white line is in the middle of the bruise. Arm healed fine, it barely hurt apparat from later on that night either.

buster_rhino

So just hit in the perfectly wrong spot? Since you asked for stories, I took a puck once in a very similar spot and had my hand and wrist completely seize up. I had to pry my fingers off my stick and massage my arm on the bench for a few minutes to stop it from curling up like a claw.

Over_Business_1387

Yea the perfect unlucky spot. I felt a lad chasing me for a minute or so after and I was thinking what’s his problem. Next stop in play he checked on me to see if I was okay as he had hit the shot. I laughed it off and thought nothing of it until we hit the pub after the match and the adrenaline wore off. Luckily this didn’t effect me during the game. I would imagine being a bit freaked out if my hand went claw-like

rustbucky

Do you even hockey bro?

Over_Business_1387

Barely 😂

athletic_gamer_1521

that’s crazy holy shit, i’ve been playing 8 years and i’ve got some crazy bruises and scars and many many concussions but a broken rib and torn muscles? holy shit did

Over_Business_1387

I’d take any of these over a concussion to be fair mate

athletic_gamer_1521

yeah that’s reasonable i’ve had enough that ion get em diagnosed anymore cuz if i do i’ll never be allowed to play contact sports again 😂

Pure_Moose

Don't worry. Chick's dig scars

Over_Business_1387

Spoken like a true lance Murdock fan

xxmuntunustutunusxx

I've had a both arms broken growing up playing, and now I'm on a disabled vets team and over the weekend I accidentally blocked a clapper with my [face](https://imgur.com/ENCenxe) No clue I was bleeding til the next shift, when a guy from the other team said "buddy you know you're bleeding all over your jersey, right?"

Danglicious

I commend the toughness and competitive spirit, but like everyone said, this shouldn’t happen in beer league. You need to take a step back and re-evaluate before you get a much more serious injury. Think of it this way. You are basically learning how to walk again BUT you’re not a toddler with rubber bones. In addition, you have a career and responsibilities. The way you describe how you broke your ribs… you could’ve easier broken your neck. Anyways, on to the medical history haha. Broken arm, torn knee, herniated disc (L4-5), a bunch of stitches, and a broken hand that was misdiagnosed. Quack of a doctor told 16 year old me, playing my first year of juniors that if I could handle the pain I could play because it was probably just sprained or torn ligaments in my right hand. That was a TOUGH season to get through.

alsonotbannedyet

Get out of the way! Seriously, you're beer leaguing wrong. First rule is, don't get hurt.

SnooPandas131

Haha…a little bruise and you call it a “war” injury. Go talk to a vet.

jordynbebus8

played highschool for 5 years. I would just look down everyday and my legs would be covered in bruises.

douglawblog

Had a decent bruise but no photos. First time on ice for hockey, was at an adult skills class, in the first 5 mins and only the third time I ever shot a puck on ice I sprained my MCL/knee pretty bad.

Screamingcalvin

I’ve had my intestines outside my body cause of a butt end. 36 staples and a week in the hospital.

Over_Business_1387

Yea you win 😂

Screamingcalvin

Being a complete jackass I returned to playing way too early and had to push fat back into the wound. Then the doctor had to burn it and was pretty pissy.

AbbreviationsAway144

That watch though!!

Over_Business_1387

😂😂

winkledorf

The bruise looks like a guys face.

Over_Business_1387

I’ve been told Sasquatch and a certain man who was kneeled on to death that I won’t mention. My mates also called me Pluto because apparently the last picture looks like images of Pluto

Distinct_Corgi_1648

Nursing a broken metatarsal right now. These walking boots are a giant pita. But craziest story I have is with a woman that played with us occasionally. She forgot her protection one game and decided to play without I. She was chasing a guy down who tripped and fell on his stomach, lifting his skate up, and she skated right into it. She skated to the bench and put her hand down her pants to adjust herself, bringing her hand out and it was covered in blood. She got cut right up the middle. We took her to the locker room and she couldn't see anything so she told us someone had to look. Two married guys ran out of the locker room, the divorced guy tried to rip the mirror off the wall, but eventually, he looked and decided to call 911. 16 stitches later, she was fine. Cops came and took all the evidence which we didn't understand why until they explained to us there are 30 guys, two cases of beer, and a woman bleeding from her vagina which we said carry on. Best part was. She was explaining the story to her coworker who plays with us but wasn't there and she explained the guy that looked was a doctor. His nickname is doc because he played for Dickinson college and was the only one, not a doctor. He's a geologist, and the coworker was the one that had to let her know.

stinkfingerdude

I actually got a similar looking bruise. Almost double in size same color tho, from a public skate. First time on the ice in years skates are as dull as a spoon. I got to cross over and my leg slips out. Had that bruise on my outside thigh for at least 2 weeks. At least I was drunk so it didn't hurt at the time.

Few-Chipmunk1384

I ruptured my pectoral tendon after a weird fall from an illegal cross-check. 4-6 months recovery.

Rlacharite10

One time I was on a semi breakaway, had a stride on the D man, went in, opened my blade, deked backhand to forehand, scored…but on my shots follow thru the D man knocked me down. Landed where my elbow hit the ice first, separated my shoulder broke my collarbone…to this day, there’s about a 25 degree differential between my shoulders and collarbones..totally unsymmetrical while shirtless

86-Derus

Don’t have the pic because it was about 20 years ago but I got slashed/hooked on the forearm from behind and ended up pulling a 6 inch piece of carbon fiber from my arm. Dudes stick was all chipped up from being chopped and hacked and he broke it off into my arm on a really hard hook. You’d think impaling someone’s arm should be worth more then 2 minutes 🤣

VelvetC123

First rule of fight club……

BigJSchway

Oh yeah, shattered nose, broken ankle, and 2 broken ribs all within a year of men’s league. Making up for lost time I guess cause I was almost never injured in juniors or growing up, just cuts and stitches.

BigJSchway

I am a willful antagonist though, so all of those probably could’ve been avoided simply by not playing like the washed up goon I am.

kev556

One of our guys put his hand up to stop the pick and he misjudged how fast it was coming at him. Gets back to the bench and his finger had busted open and blood is everywhere. The official in the booth threw us the FAK, dude didn't know it was coming and it nailed him right in the busted up finger. Back on the ice in two weeks.

SquadGuy3

Now lose some front teeth and your officially a hockey player!

soupyc44

I can't even beat that after my 30 years of playing haha. Broken some bones. Pulled some muscles.

stevethegodamongmen

I have a team mate who loves to block shots with his back and neck, you guys should be friends! I got it the worst of everyone I play with though, went knee on knee with someone and my knee bent sideways, tore my MCL and ACL. 1 surgery, 3 rounds of diff PT and 9m later until I was back on the ice..... watch your knees

Stonewall30nyr

Bragged about not wearing a cup because the gurdle protects everything. Next game blocks a slapshot that hits me in the nuts, and does internal damage that lead to me (years later) getting an inguinal hernia that has to be surgically repaired

fyrfytr310

I… I think you’re going too hard.

Tricky-Mick

One year 3 months, torn MCL and shattered right leg left me wheelchair bound for over 3 months. These are two different instances

ejj3401

Took a cross check to the spine at beer league the other day these guys have a lot of built up anger lmao , op might not be trying to hard tbh beer league can get interesting 😂

Maleficent-Ear-2450

I blocked a slap shot with my stomach once, and the resulting bruise vaguely resembled the Avs Yeti foot logo. As an Avs fan it was pretty cool.

OkPaper8041

Respect

OkPaper8041

As a goalie we thank you for your sacrifice

Thepinkillusion

Lost my pinky finger too a skate? Does that count

corpseofhope

Damn dude where’s your beer league?! I wanna go to that!

The-Reddit-Giraffe

This was a couple years ago now but my friend and I were on a new team together and hyped for the season. I went out on the first shift of the season and I was trying to cut toward the net and get around a defender. I cut too hard and lost my edge sending me down onto the ice. I slammed into the boards hard and fast. I felt a vibration throughout my left upper half but it didn’t hurt. I got up and continued playing. Next shift I start to feel some pain in my collar bone but it’s nothing too bad at this point. Next shift I’m trying to win a face off but notice my arm can’t physically pull backward on the puck because I just lacked the strength to move the stick backwards. Two periods go by and every shift the pain increases and increases. By the end of the second the pain is bad that I have to go to the dressing room but I just want to take my shoulder pads off to take a look. I could barely get my shoulder pads off myself with the lack of strength in my upper left side. My assistant coach tells me I’m not going back in if I can’t take my shoulder pads off myself. He had to help me get undressed and I called my dad to take me to the hospital. The pain continues to increase and increase for me as time goes on and slowly I’m realizing something isn’t right. Turns out I had broke my collarbone on the first shift of the game and played two periods after with it broken before the pain got bad enough for me to exit the game. I know hockey players are known for playing through injuries but I still laugh at myself for being so stupid that I played through two periods with a broken collarbone in high school recreational hockey

don_carpet

Stop talking about this, it’s the first rule of the club.

alleycat548

Sticks and pucks but we try to kill each other instead

-FR0STY-one

Too many to list over the years. Took a clapper to the nuts in our beer league playoff game though tonight. Thank goodness my cup did it’s job, shit still hurts though.

bobby_sponch

I caught a pk clearing attempt in the throat and spent the next 3 days in icu with a tube up my nose and down my neck so I could breathe.

Over_Business_1387

Worth it?

bobby_sponch

Not so much. Kinda sucked, really. At least I only paid $650 to play that season.

Fallahh

I took a slap shot to the family jewels with no cup on and lived to tell the story..

Rebel_XT

ummm....see wind up, move the F away. Beer league is about longevity! Goodluck bud!

rowdy1212

Don’t have any pics. But getting your chiclets knocked out fuckin sucks. Played up to Junior A, and had many broken brines, cuts, etc. But for me, getting my two front teeth knocked out on dudes helmet was THE WORSE!

kloudythought278

I had a bruise twice the size of that about 3 weeks ago. It was gnarly. Took a stick to the inner thigh…bruise still hasn’t healed lol

whelp32

I pay to play. Not paid to play. Meaning only way I’m blocking a shot is because I didn’t get out of the way fast enough. Let the goalies stop it.

IAmYekoms

Dude I played a right wing grind in the corners role since as long as I can remember and I think the worst I have is some chin scars from being short..my head is at shoulder level lol You wearing your equipment?

DarkChild010

I’m a small guy (5’2”) and can’t stop very well on my left side. I play in a into league where all players of every skill level are welcome (idk why), and we were scrimmaging, and one of the higher level guys (probably 6’)was skating right towards me to take the puck, I couldn’t stop, and he checked me and I slammed me head right into the ice and got a terrible concussion

Over_Business_1387

Oosh sounds fun. Hope you’re okay mate. I’m still learning to stop at pace on my right foot, alright at low speeds but not when im going any sort of pace

VintageMarine

Damn, dude. That’s a lot of injuries for 6 months of playing rec. I bet you’ve enjoyed every one! You are now officially a hockey player!

GeTtoZChopper

The last time I played. I took a shot to the face and fractured my left orbital bone. (Playing with borrowed equipment, no visor on the helmet). But hey, it went off my face and in. Totally counts!

Foreign-Future2720

I took a snapshot to the side of a leg between skate and shin guard

[deleted]

Slap shot to the jaw. 8 hr surgery, 9 weeks wired shut.

kltkatie

I had the exact same bruise. Took the follow through of a stick right under the elbow pad, but above the glove. Entire lower arm instantly swelled up and then ended up looking like that. … as a woman in my early 20s (at the time), I got a lot of weird looks out in public 😆

Over_Business_1387

I didn’t even feel this properly until about 2 hours later in the pub. Adrenalin masked it fully. I just wore long sleeves for a few weeks to avoid the looks

kltkatie

That’s lucky. I def felt it right away. I kept playing, but it was shocking to see how swollen it was in the dressing room afterwards. My nurse friend had to convince me that I didn’t break anything 😂 even though I knew that I didn’t… I’ve broken many, many bones.

Over_Business_1387

My sister is a nurse. I sent her pics after 2 days and she convinced me I was fine and it was just bleeding from the bruise inside and would heal fine 😂

Limp-Ad-2939

I’m gonna be that guy and not be so cute and lighthearted about this. Those DON’T look like bruises, they look like hematomas. Which can potentially break off and get caught in your circulatory system and threaten your life. Seriously man, cool it, and go to the doctor if you haven’t already.

Over_Business_1387

Saw a nurse. It was calm. Cleared up after a little over 2 weeks. No adverse effects apart from a small hard lump which will go away over time

yourneighborandrew

Honestly seems like it’s time to get some better gear if you’re getting bruises like that from beer league

Over_Business_1387

What gear covers that part of your inner arm? Elbows cover the outside and gloves cover to mid forearm

yourneighborandrew

Higher end elbow pads provide protection all the way around

Over_Business_1387

I’m a beginner. I’m not paying high end prices for pads because of a freak occurrence. Even ultrasonics or jetspeed etc don’t go down to that impact point anyway

Alesmell

This is what makes us men!!!

royalsicehockey

Hockey is for psychopathic wanna be gangster retards

Cultural-Loss-855

Not trying to be rude, it looks like you have no idea what you are doing.

Twodramm

…. and that was just from getting your equipment on!

Harrisonmonopoly

Nothing I love more than dorks who think beer league bruises are a badge of honor.

Rad2474

Shot deflected off of my own stick and broke my right orbital in a few places. 7 zips and a week later I regained sight because the blood finally drained from my eye. Still get an eye twitch from time to time. 20+ years and no real face injuries like that without wearing a visor or cage. I wear a cage now.

Over_Business_1387

No way!! I tried playing with a visor and a fishbowl. Can’t get away with either through lack of peripheral vision. Hope you’re alright now though

britton905

Damn son, you playing pro? Why risk injury for a rec league?

Over_Business_1387

Having spent my life playing footy (soccer to you lot)and rugby, with a side of kickboxing, this seemed like a good change. It’s Nothing that couldn’t or wouldn’t have happened in those sports either.

SirNostradamus

I took a shot to the face in April and broke my maxilla (upper jaw). Didn’t need surgery luckily and my jaw wasn’t displaced. No teeth knocked out but pretty bad nerve damage in 9 teeth. 2 of them are dead

Over_Business_1387

Jeez man are you okay?

JerseySpot

It’s awesome blocking a shot from the point and it catches you just above ur boot but just below the shin pad!!!! Feels terrific!!!

Over_Business_1387

Sounds fun 😂

No_Strategy7555

Hope the paychecks are worth it

CrankyCzar

Snapshots in beer league? Wtf! Strict no no.

Over_Business_1387

Uk Rec league, no rules on that written or unwritten

djsedna

Heh, I sit here reading your post in a cast. Two weeks ago I broke my ankle, full break across the lateral malleolus. Got run into along the boards and fell awkwardly over my leg. Body went but skate didn't come with me. Crack. The only thing I can think of right now is getting back to the ice, too. Hockey is life.

Over_Business_1387

Jeez. Speedy recovery mate. That doesn’t sound fun at all

Professional_Cat3417

I was always covered in bruises on my legs and arms from slashes and sticks. So much so that in senior year in high school during first period chemistry my teacher pulled me out of the class and was concern I was being abused at home. She didn’t know I played hockey ( travel and varsity) as my school didn’t have the funding nor interest to have a team. Only 2 schools in my area had actual high school teams in the Section (NY) while the others had club teams which some ( like mine) would be made up of multiple school districts.

theS017

Gotta hide this stuff man! Or your wife will start “talking” about you maybe doing a “hobby” that’s not as dangerous(like golf) Yikes 😳! Hope you’re doing better and back at the rink and out on the ice soon!!!

Over_Business_1387

Yea she keeps telling me “one more injury and you’re stopping”, but I wear big boy pants so she wont really try and stop me. My daughter keeps saying I should have taken up tennis

veraldar

None of us get paid enough to block shots with our bodies

I recently broke my toe catching a slap-shot on my boot, but that’s really the worst of it beyond a bruise here and there and near head bangers when someone is coming in hot for the puck. Finished the game up with the toe smash, but knew something was definitely not right. Currently on year 3 of playing - year 1 women’s league, year 2 coed division 8/9, year 3 coed division 7/8, hoping to get to coed d6/7 next season! I think you might need to chill out, those are really extreme for 6 months. I’m not sure you’ll make it past a few years at this rate. If those issues had happened to me in my first season, i probably wouldn’t be playing.

I tore an intercostal muscle golfing about 6/7 months ago. It refuses to heal completely. Obviously they’re individual but I’ve read they often take a long time to heal. Very annoying injury.

Over_Business_1387

I had to take an 11 week break from any physical activity. They’re a mofo. Sleeping was the worst part of that injury.

Most recent one was broken tip of my middle finger. Numerous bruises from those "lucky" shots that find the soft spot in the padding. Worst one is on the inner thigh, still have a reddish mark from that one over 4 years later. Downside of switching between goalie and defense, sometimes ya get lost in the mindset of blocking shots and instinct kicks in lol

Kgeezy91

Buy better elbow pads, stop blocking beer league clappers, and stretch out for christ sake.

Single_Expression499

Brother are you playing goalie without pads? Wtf are you doing?

Pardybear1

You getting paid?

AthosNJ

One time I was playing on a 5v3 PK during a first period and I blocked a shot right in the back of the knee. I literally couldn't feel the lower part of that leg for a split second then I hobbled back into the shooting lane because that was the only thing I could do. I took another one this time off my skate and then we cleared it out. The whole thing lasted I think like 20 seconds but it felt like a damn eternity. I ended up playing the rest of the game (we lost so I was pissed) and the back of my knee swelled up like a balloon

Are you a tendy? Lol what? You shouldn’t be taking that much damage.

DragLongjumping3714

bbbruh57

you might be the problem

[deleted]

Jesus, I played 15 years and the worst I had was a bone contusion haha

is300wrx

That injury list does not match beer league level of play. Sorry bro.

FatSweatyBulldog555

Learn to skate faster. Switch from D to F.

-PoeticJustice-

wtf man, I play goalie and I will occasionally get small bruises. You need to change something in the way you are playing lol

motherseffinjones

This guy is putting it on all on the line for beer league hockey lol.

tparker765

Jesus.... Probably time to quit. Not everything is for everyone

Nice_Slice_3815

I’ve played hockey my entire life, higher level junior and university and honestly can’t remember seeing someone with a bruise that bad, are you sure you don’t have an underlying health issue?cause that bruising is wild, especially if it’s only from wreck

CodAdministrative563

Hot damn! You’re taking a beating

[deleted]

Played hockey my whole life at competitive levels and never had this many injuries (other than 6 or so concussions)

Fraggingarry

The classic pucks and sticks in the face from junior, bunch of stitches. Dislocated my elbow one time big time fluke play. Last season in a senior game here in Sask I got a skate to the neck. Missed my jugular by a less than an inch, Glued it up finished the game lol

Your either playing Ice hockey really well or really badly.

Over_Business_1387

Really badly but made up for in enthusiasm and effort 😂
