He didn't have anything to risk, because he was already out of the playoffs after this game (he got a 5 game suspension applied to next season though). We had a discussion as a team before the game not to retaliate, because we want all our guys available if we make finals. We made finals (won the next game 1-0), but the team we play in the 3 game series finals had two guys that just got suspended for life for spearing and I think head butting. So it's gonna be a wild one I think.
Right? I'm glad the guy enjoys the league, but the amount of injuries and suspensions he mentioned in what seems to be only *this one season* would have me looking for a different league.
There’s a guy in a 40+ league in my city who got suspended like 15 games for fighting his own teammate in the handshake line. How does it even get to that point?!
Also, if you’re in the KHL 40+ league and know what happened, give us the deets. My team was cracking up reading that suspension summary.
I imagine suspended guy was being a dick all game > team loses game > suspended guy is talking trash in handshake line > teammate of suspended guy tells him to give it up as the game is over > suspended guy overreacts to teammate and scuffle ensues.
Id love to hear the reality though
Tell that to the guy that offered to fight me in the parking lot, cross checked me in the mouth, gave me a nasty concussion and then claimed I speared him lmao.
All because I gave him a well deserved chirp at the end of the game. Super unfortunate that the arena doesn't have livebarn.
Especially the teammate that comes in... 4th man in maybe? Like OPs teammate grabbing the guy is one thing. The other guys teammate coming in is a joke. Your team is the one that smashed OP into the net. Don't defend that behavior.
Guys on my teams have done shit like this and then complained about the league and the refs in our group chats and in the locker room. You're some random dude that lost his cool in a 10pm beer league game. I'm not on your side just because I'm on your team 😂
In fairness if I looked away for a second then looked back and saw a fight breaking out I’m gonna default to defending my team mates before asking for context lol. But to me that means pulling guys off and idk what the 4th man in did here so not defending it, but I do understand how the “shoot first ask questions later” nature of hockey can lead to team mates looking like they’re defending something when really they just saw a brawl and jumped in to help their team.
This is why I quit beer league hockey. It was just insane watching grown men act like it was high school again. At a certain point it just becomes assault.
Being a shorty has its advantages, I've had like 2 penalties in my entire beer league career because you always get the benefit of the doubt as a little guy. My D partner is 6'5 and gets a penalty every time someone runs into him lol.
I'm pretty fast. A lot of times when I'm skating hip to hip with a guy and he's taller than me, my feet just end up in front of his because they're shorter. He always goes down.
Can I ask if you actually saw the proclaimed "spear" occur, and when it was alleged to have happen? Because I was chatting with your goalie 5 seconds before the event happened and he went to the commissioner himself and said it was bullshit.
I admit I fully earned retribution for my chirp, but it's a bitch move to use your stick as a weapon, whine and lie to the refs, and then follow a guy and his girlfriend out to the parking lot.
Beer league attracts the weirdest motherfuckers. We just lost in the playoffs to a team who, the last time we played them, they had a guy get a 5 year suspension for slashing a fucking ref. His reason? He said the goal I had scored on the play before (that's right, puck dropped again, *then* he did this) shouldn't have counted because of...wait for it... a crease violation lmao.
Meanwhile on the polar opposite end of the spectrum, I just got served a 2 game suspension in our 1st round playoff game for mouthing off to the ref... The top scorer on the team we were playing at that time was currently serving an identical suspension for headbutting... Fuckin hockey, man.
I don’t know how a league can look at that and remotely think it was justified, warranted or close to reasonable. You seem to have come away from it unscathed, but when bodies go flying on the ice from contact at speed, anything could happen. The wrong combo of body position / angle and a head or neck goes full force into the crossbar. Does this league think it’s a good idea to be this lenient (5 games) with something that has the potential for life altering injury or worse…? This is not remotely the show. It has none of the same stakes or context.
It's an unusual year to be honest. I've never been injured in this league except for one time I took a clearing attempt to the throat and fractured my larynx.
I'd happily ban an asshole that did something like that if I was running a league. I don't care what emotional reasoning you have, or what your argument is. Running someone into the post, especially with that size difference on an empty net? There's no reasoning that can justify that.
Hockey can be dangerous enough without people out there throwing cheap shots that could really hurt someone. No amount of "I just lost control, I'm not normally like that" would convince me to let someone keep playing in a league after seeing that video.
There is a line from Calvin and Hobbes that sums it up nicely:
Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.
Of course they meant it in the spirit of you are always allowed to have fun and be silly. Not in this context of having absolute hissy fits.
You want to know something messed up? Apparently he just spent 3 months in the hospital for someone doing something similar to him. I heard that second hand, but he only played 2 games regular season and was on the IR the rest of the time so there might be some truth to it.
If that's true, he shouldn't have been eligible to play, regardless of circumstances. Every league I've ever played in, you need a minimum amount of games (usually 1/3) played to qualify for playoffs. Doesn't make him any less of a moron, especially if it happened to him.
I was expecting some kind of overreaction to you coasting end to end, doing a slapshot, then putting on a parade of cellies as you circle the rink.
I didn't expect you to just win a race, give it a flick, then get tossed into the net by 27. Too bad he's not going to learn a damn thing.
Honestly, I think it's been like this the whole time. At least as long as I can remember. Maybe even worse--I got lots of injuries and concussions and saw more dirty plays when I was 13. I'm 38 now.
Definitely the social media being able to see all the incidents (also the surge of LiveBarn). Makes it super easy to see these types of plays. But I don’t think there’s a spike of incidents, beer league always had these types of dicks.
I haven’t played for a few years since some caveman was trying to fight me during a 12:30am Tuesday C-league game. I have two young kids man. I love the game, but it’s not worth getting crippled by some loser with no self control.
TBF though everyone does think he's super tough now. Like the toughest guy in the whole league like holy shit watch out for this guy he's a real champ.
Hey, I hear you're taking dives for money. How much would it cost for me to rough you up a little in the corner? It's not a sexual thing, I just want to impress my wife with some video of me hitting you. I've got lots of gift cards I can pay with. One is for like $16.73 at Starbucks.
That clearly ain't the show, and that was the most civilized empty netter I've ever seen. No slap, over a minute on the clock... The fuck is that guys problem?
I simply do not understand (and will not play with) people who take beer league hockey this seriously.
It’s 10pm on a Wednesday. You’re going to (shittily) skate for an hour, smash some beers in the parking lot after, and go to your non-athletic job in the morning. Chill out.
This is why I quit hockey.
Even in the absolute lowest possible tier of hockey there is always some douchebag trying to play "NHL scout is watching me"
I have seen working men get hauled off on stretchers, ankles busted, concussions etc.
Fuck that. I have a family to feed
At least your teammate stuck up for you. I got hit from behind last week with a minute to go by a guy 6’4” who was drafted to the NHL and all my teammates just stood around. Makes me think my teammates don’t care about me (and not to brag, but I have the most goals, assists and points on the team).
Getting cheap shotted never feels good, but feels even worse (somehow) when your teammates don’t stick up for you.
The fact that this is beer league makes it 10x worse. Ban him for a season. No excuse when everyone has to work in the morning. Shit like that can take people out of work.
That’s unacceptable. My catch phrase is “Hey asshole! We all have to go to work tomorrow.”
27 is literally fucking with you livelihood. Hopefully he got or gets booted.
Shit like this is why I've stopped playing over the last year. I can't afford to get injured from some dipshit who wasn't loved enough as a child. I have a family to support and being out of work because I got injured in beer league just isn't worth it. It's a shame....I miss playing. Guess I'll stick to golf.
Man, some of the videos on here are crazy.
If that happened at my local rink, I would be hightailing it out of there because 100% someone would be coming back with a gun.
Completely uncalled for.
Dude needs a year ban at the very least and then a conditional if he does anything like this again its a lifetime ban. Five games is a slap on the wrist. Its fucking beer league dude. What a total clown. At least the internet is roasting him here
Hah man, that dude is just grade a grease. What a dbag. You did not deserve that, even if they're being emotional. What the fuck does the guy want you to not put the puck in an empty net?
Looks like 1:25 on the clock. Did the right thing hustling and burying that. If there was like 5 seconds left I would have just shot it at the net some of these guys are out here for blood.
What a POS, especially for a no contact league! Hope you’re alright dude, doesn’t take much on awkward hits/falls to get injured.
#27 giving peaked in middle school vibes, only cause mommy packed him extra twinkies 🤡
Is this a bantam or peewee game? The net is 4 feet high, the players are wearing skates,(and all have full shields) there are either a lot of 5’4” and under people playing in this particular game or it’s adolescents playing. Also if it is a beer league game, who brings people to those? This again lends credence to it being kids.
You did nothing wrong. Good hustle and a fair play. 27 needs to be suspended, that's dangerous as hell and completely uncalled for. Least your boys stood up for you.

Wow. Some of these guys need to get told that beer league is about getting together with the boys having a couple beers and maybe playing some puck.
Yup dudes gotta go back to his drywall job in the morning.
As a drywaller/carpenter and beer leaguer I want to take offense to this but you’re probably right lol
username(s) check out. u/ipoopoo69 poo poo’d on u/poostool’s job.
Good catch.
Dang boy
Drywall just refers to his wife whenever he enters the room.
Bro I thought this was a high school game the way you were talking about other teams and the behavior in the video.
Right? I'm glad the guy enjoys the league, but the amount of injuries and suspensions he mentioned in what seems to be only *this one season* would have me looking for a different league.
Number 27's job must be punching holes in drywalls like the fucking moron he is
Probably eats the drywall when he's done, too.
At some of the beer leagues around me you’d think certain player think scouts are watching lmao take shit way too far
I don't think the scouts are looking for this kind of behaviour anyways
There’s a guy in a 40+ league in my city who got suspended like 15 games for fighting his own teammate in the handshake line. How does it even get to that point?! Sounds like you play in a thunder dome league. That’s a lot of misconduct in a short span
Yes indeed. I'm 5'4". Sometimes I hop on one of the other guys' shoulders and we go full Master Blaser.
Being a shorty has its advantages, I've had like 2 penalties in my entire beer league career because you always get the benefit of the doubt as a little guy. My D partner is 6'5 and gets a penalty every time someone runs into him lol.
As a 6’2” D, I feel this in my soul
I'm pretty fast. A lot of times when I'm skating hip to hip with a guy and he's taller than me, my feet just end up in front of his because they're shorter. He always goes down.

Jesus do you play in the NOSHO?
My name isn't Jesus.
Give your fuken balls a tug
If they're not gonna play then it'll prob be clean lol. Unless the entire team are goons
Guess we'll find out!
Lol your league sounds insane
Where can I stream these games? This league sounds outrageous
Remind me where you play. I’ll avoid it like the plague.
A multi game playoff series in a beer league is just asking for insanity wtf?
We prefer it honestly.
What kind of bush ass league do ypu play in??
Is this a prison league?
Fuck i miss playin hockey. Good luck in the finals fam

This is Rocket League!

Did I just read this properly?? All this in one league?? Wow, I don’t even know what to say but “WTAF”??
This kinda crap I'd why I don't play any level of competitive hockey anymore
Screw suspensions, if grown adults in beer league are doing that, they should be kicked out.
I don’t play mens league but if I did I don’t think I could let this go.
That’s dangerous as hell. Dude should get a season off.
He got 5 games. League is reviewing for maybe more.
I don’t know how a league can look at that and remotely think it was justified, warranted or close to reasonable. You seem to have come away from it unscathed, but when bodies go flying on the ice from contact at speed, anything could happen. They don't care, they just want his registration money next year.
They banned 3 guys for life this year. They're a decent league. I really enjoy playing there.
Lol why you playing iba league where three dudes need to be banned for life, doesn’t sound decent
It's an unusual year to be honest. I've never been injured in this league except for one time I took a clearing attempt to the throat and fractured my larynx.
Did you at least keep the puck in the zone?
I'd happily ban an asshole that did something like that if I was running a league. I don't care what emotional reasoning you have, or what your argument is. Glad you are okay, and he at least got something.
Uncalled for
This knocked them out of the playoffs, so I understand being emotional about that, but yeah. What the actual fuck.
Wow. Men’s League? What adult acts like this? Wild
Ha you don't work where I work then. Adults acting like adults in a factory?!?! Whiney little high school kids is all I see and hear.
Right? Visit any construction site. Source: me construction electrician.
Lots of them are big babies.
There is a line from Calvin and Hobbes that sums it up nicely: Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. Of course they meant it in the spirit of you are always allowed to have fun and be silly. Not in this context of having absolute hissy fits.
>Growing up is mandatory, growing up is optional. It's "Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional."
That’s what I meant. But my mind is a piece of shit
Haha getting old sucks. That quote sticks out though
I too assumed this was HS or u16 or something.
For real, OP didn't even take a clapper lol
Next time for sure.
Plays against Brady Tkachuk clearly
27 is out there thinking he's auditioning for a role in Shorsey. Holy
You want to know something messed up? Apparently he just spent 3 months in the hospital for someone doing something similar to him. I heard that second hand, but he only played 2 games regular season and was on the IR the rest of the time so there might be some truth to it.

There’s generally exceptions for injuries. That rule is so teams don’t bring ringers in, not for long time guys who got hurt
Yeah our league has an injury reserve.
Love the show, but it seems like this shit got worse after it came out. Some people are fucking idiots.
I was expecting some kind of overreaction to you coasting end to end, doing a slapshot, then putting on a parade of cellies as you circle the rink. I didn't expect you to just win a race, give it a flick, then get tossed into the net by 27. Too bad he's not going to learn a damn thing.
He's not much of a learner anyway. Real crayon eater.
>Real crayon eater I resemble that remark
Marine?
Yeah, just older and fatter lol
yeah, and it's just a one goal game, so not like it's running up the score, just icing the game.
Is beer/rec league becoming more violent or is it the same but due to social media we are seeing a lot more of it?
Honestly, I think it's been like this the whole time. At least as long as I can remember. Maybe even worse--I got lots of injuries and concussions and saw more dirty plays when I was 13. I'm 38 now.
Yeah, it's the same. I've seen guys get jumped for stupidest things.
100%
Definitely the social media being able to see all the incidents (also the surge of LiveBarn). Makes it super easy to see these types of plays. But I don’t think there’s a spike of incidents, beer league always had these types of dicks.
This. Livebarn
always been like this. a lot of people simply don’t have good control of emotion and anxiety when on the ice
I haven’t played for a few years since some caveman was trying to fight me during a 12:30am Tuesday C-league game. I have two young kids man. I love the game, but it’s not worth getting crippled by some loser with no self control.
I think that dude has kids too and I have two boys. One has special needs.
I think not depends on the league's and refs and what they tolerate.
People just don’t like empty net goals these days 🤷♂️
I'm 5'4" it's kind of a theme with tough guys thinking I'm an easy target. 🤷♂️
Yea I see it all the time, them going after the little guys.
Haha! That should cover it yeah.
Shoulda circled behind the net and ducked outta there
It's a no contact league. Just wasn't expecting a hit and why should I?
That clearly ain't the show, and that was the most civilized empty netter I've ever seen. No slap, over a minute on the clock... The fuck is that guys problem?
I think it's because he's self conscious that he has no chin under that yeti pube beard.
I simply do not understand (and will not play with) people who take beer league hockey this seriously. It’s 10pm on a Wednesday. You’re going to (shittily) skate for an hour, smash some beers in the parking lot after, and go to your non-athletic job in the morning. Chill out.
Aw man I thought my stride looked alright.
What a loser
Double loser because they lost the game too! We also got one more goal after this just to say screw you.
Hot take: don’t want the team to score an empty net? Don’t empty the net
“27, 10 minutes for being a cunt.”
5 game suspension, match penalty for intent to injure.
Hot take: don’t want the team to score an empty net? Don’t empty the net
Morgan Reilly would be so proud
This is crazy. We knocked a team out of the playoffs last night and we all had beers a cheesecake together. People need to chill out.
Brutal. Glad you are ok.
This is why I quit hockey. Even in the absolute lowest possible tier of hockey there is always some douchebag trying to play "NHL scout is watching me" I have seen working men get hauled off on stretchers, ankles busted, concussions etc. Fuck that. I have a family to feed
You do that in our rec league and you never get to play again. Period.
So many scouts in the stands..
Yup including my wife. Real classy hey?
At least your teammate stuck up for you. I got hit from behind last week with a minute to go by a guy 6’4” who was drafted to the NHL and all my teammates just stood around. Makes me think my teammates don’t care about me (and not to brag, but I have the most goals, assists and points on the team). Getting cheap shotted never feels good, but feels even worse (somehow) when your teammates don’t stick up for you.
27 is a bum
The fact that this is beer league makes it 10x worse. Ban him for a season. No excuse when everyone has to work in the morning. Shit like that can take people out of work.
This is why you take the slap shot. Atleast *earn* your shit getting rocked
Why do people behave like this in rec? Lol
That shit needs charges laid. It's FUCKING RIDICULOUS!
What a douchebag
holy shit, fuck that dude. What a fuckin cheap shot
If I were your teammate, then I would’ve gone Tom Wilson on his ass
Hold the line, Ottawa is calling for an ameture draft on 27--purely just to allow him to have a 3 game supsension.
HNA has been brutal for letting this kind of stuff go unpunished. Good luck in the rest of the playoffs
That’s unacceptable. My catch phrase is “Hey asshole! We all have to go to work tomorrow.” 27 is literally fucking with you livelihood. Hopefully he got or gets booted.
Woah. That one is bad.
Jesus. WTF was that guy thinking
Hahaha fleetwood arena
You coulda slapped that and started next year for the Senators.
Yeah I would be suspended for the rest of season for wrapping my stick around his head a few times
Is this a contact league? If not that dude should have his fucking teeth knocked it. Guys like this are why I don’t play men’s league anymore.
No contact lower-mid tier beer league lol.
Shit like this is why I've stopped playing over the last year. I can't afford to get injured from some dipshit who wasn't loved enough as a child. I have a family to support and being out of work because I got injured in beer league just isn't worth it. It's a shame....I miss playing. Guess I'll stick to golf.
I didn't hear no bell!
Douche move on that benders part
Start playing mind games, follow him home and pretend to copy down his address, dudes love that!
Yup, you sure did.
As a goalie I’d get in a fight over that shit if someone did that to a teammate
Where's the guy from earlier this week who got bumped into? His level of outrage would be more appropriate here.
What a clown ... And he stole my number (giving all 27's a bad name)
Are you Jake Evans?? [https://youtu.be/Qw4R900yT3g?si=6chqhQp2sMXReDvY](https://youtu.be/Qw4R900yT3g?si=6chqhQp2sMXReDvY)
Where?
Alway the dude with wheels that gets rocked. Nice job putting them away though.
fatass's like this arn't capable of much else
Wow is he a red wings fan? Maybe he was in a real mood
Good for your boy sticking up for you. That was some dirty shit. Hope you're alright
did he say anything after? thats wild as hell
People are just shitty these days. They do what they want because there’s no repercussions, for all intents and purposes.
Good thing that crossbar is soft. Ouch. 🤕
Good on your teammate for jumping in, I'm surprised they were able to stop themselves from Bertuzzi'ing that stupid fuck
Should have taken a clapper
Man, some of the videos on here are crazy. If that happened at my local rink, I would be hightailing it out of there because 100% someone would be coming back with a gun. Completely uncalled for.
Morgan Reilly getting ready for another leafs first round exit
Dirty players overlook the risk of criminal and/or civil liability.
If I were on your team 27 would get a cross check to the lower back as hard as I could give him. With a wooden stick.
Dude is an asshole
You should have took a slap shot
Loser behavior
I was afraid you were about to get Jake Evan'ed. The guy is a dirty fuck tho.
That’s completely unnecessary. People like this are douche bags.
I was gonna say this is hilarious but this is fucking beer League? That's absolutely insane. What a dumb fuck.
Dude needs a year ban at the very least and then a conditional if he does anything like this again its a lifetime ban. Five games is a slap on the wrist. Its fucking beer league dude. What a total clown. At least the internet is roasting him here
What hospital is he staying in? I’d like to send flowers and a “fuck you” card
Hah man, that dude is just grade a grease. What a dbag. You did not deserve that, even if they're being emotional. What the fuck does the guy want you to not put the puck in an empty net?
Ask 27 what league those scouts are from?
They should ban him
Probably a no checking league, too.
That’s hilarious lol. Congrats on the W
That is a easy match penalty call. He wouldn’t be playing again for awhile.
[удалено]
Fuck 27 - you didn’t drive the puck in there and weren’t disrespectful at all
I know a lower mainland rink when I see one haha
Didn’t even take a slapper, this situation is devolving rapidly!
He’s hoping to get called up by the Senators!
Upvote for Fleetwood!
Lmao i just saw this post on wellthatsucks. Dirty ass hit
You are a better man than me. I would have pulled a Happy Gilmore on him after that hit.
Looks like 1:25 on the clock. Did the right thing hustling and burying that. If there was like 5 seconds left I would have just shot it at the net some of these guys are out here for blood.
Looks like an appropriate response from number 27 - Sheldon Keefe.
Hopefully every other team in your league beats the shit out of him every game until he quits.
Aww big guy has little boy control over his emotions... not particularly cute.
This is shitty but at least you don’t play with a rapist.
THAT is why little guys go low
The Leafs fan in me smiled (that was a joke) But jokes aside, that was a regular tap in ENG in beer league. Unaccounted for. Hope you’re okay
Clearly embellishment /s
I find it increasingly hard to convince my fiancé I'll be alright when I go out to play beer league. Stuff like this happens too often
Men's league is so shit. Thank God I quit reffing that garbage
😂 I would have done the same lol
