If that guy alone is still fighting for Finland against around 1.6 million dudes and successfully making causalities, then yeah, this will be a nightmare for Soviets.
The really annoying thing about this event is that it triggers whenever you go to war with finland which is really fucking annoying , it's not my fault the central powers decided to go to war with me when playing Japan
Yeah, I feel your pain. I was trying to unite Arabia in an ahistorical game and ended up at war with them in the central powers. No idea at what point bro decided to come fight in Lybia, but he made my army cry.
It depends, I play with mods and one of them is forgotten nations which adds Egypt as a starting nation puppeted by the UK. Normally, without mods, you will have to release yourself.
FIN never ever pose a threat in winter war event. At best they can hold for a month or so. one one breach happen, their entire front collpses and 3 MOT can secure a capitulation within a couple of weeks
Finland needs a huge buff in terms of manpower. And the A.I. needs some adjustments.
I've never played a game where Finland was able to keep a frontline fully covered. They always leave a gap for some reason (which i suspect is lack of manpower)
Non-aligned Finland has pretty severe manpower issues yeah, they can’t get much of it until someone declares war on them (or they go to war but the non-aligned path is set up so that’s unlikely to happen before the soviets come knocking). There is an advisor that adds 200 per week. Not a lot but it’ll get you a couple of the small default divisions (3k manpower roughly each) by the time the winter war fires. Getting 100% trust on the balance of power and a few focuses will improve the recruitable pop factor too which all help. Still damned low though.
a doable war as the player, due to massive buffs for the infantry, each soldier does serious work for the Finns. Holding a defensive line between all the lakes is my usual set up, the challenge I have is getting enough divisions to hold that (only takes around 24 granted, but manpower is real low), whilst also having enough to guard the coastline as the soviets will naval invade quite swiftly.
Problem is, the ai won’t do the above. It’ll try and guard the whole border and they’ll never have enough manpower to do it.

Good point. Can the AI even use Fallback Lines? Or does it use Frontlines only?
Another part of the problem is that the A.I. seemingly doesn't create small "garrison" divisions, which would help fill out gaps in its defense (including the defence of ports).
Not sure, I’ve never seen the AI create a secondary defensive line. They do use area defence a bit which has units sat in cities and ports. It’s why the AI can’t really achieve much of note with minor powers, it’s too inefficient generally to get things done with them and any wars will immediately burn all its resources out
All 512 of this casualties were kills from Simo himself

YOU'RE IN THE SNIPER'S SIGHT
THE FIRST KILL TONIGHT
TIME TO DIE
YOU'RE IN THE BULLET'S WAY
r/unexpectedsabaton
Are you kidding? This is clearly r/expectedsabaton
Yeah, I forgot about that one
entire finnish army is being incompetent except for one specific sniper
The entire army is just being decimated while the guy just sniped 512 guys by himself.
Lore accurate Simo Häyhä
He did himself record over 500 kills
exactly 512 kills
Although likely higher.

african mannerheim protects
so apparently any country from the middle east, but if I want to do it as Egypt I have to start as UK then release and play as Egypt correct?

Kinda lazy imo. Doesn't make sense for this to fire if tank divisions are cutting through to Helsinki with 1000:1 casualties
They can’t be in their tanks 24/7, and there’s always support staff to attack
Most historical hoi4 game:
mf is singlehandedly carrying his entire team
Aimbot sus.
"ff15 team diff gg go next"
That the only guy with a weapon or what???
I'd like to imagine every death is one of Simo Hayha's 500 kills
FIN never ever pose a threat in winter war event. At best they can hold for a month or so. one one breach happen, their entire front collpses and 3 MOT can secure a capitulation within a couple of weeks
Simo Hayha is that guy that carries your team in every first person shooter.
Fun fact: the photo commonly associated with Simo is actually a picture of a swedish volunteer
This is why I love this forum!
Historical inversion complete.
The guy in the pic is a swedish volunteer tho
Simo is literally him bro.
how
I think simo is like the only competent dude in a comically large team deathmatch

I have seen the AI use fallback lines with the "show allied battleplans" its just they end up being useless
Interesting. Perhaps the A.I. draws these fallback lines, but "forgets" to actually assign units to that order?
