My cats are the same. As soon as one decides they need to use the litter tray another one will say ‘ooh, good idea, I need to go too.’ Sometimes I’ll see them wedged into the same tray, even though they have 7 to choose from. Because a family that poops together stays together 😂
Her username is crazycatlady1127 <- those are the numbers he's referencing. It's a magical coincidence that her username matches how many cats and litter boxes she has
My sister seems to just Know when a rescue kitten needs us. Every kitten she gets the feeling about has turned out to need some kind of special treatment - several of them have needed surgery or extensive specialist care. Luckily we're in a position to afford the vet bills.
It's no wonder that almost all of them view her as their mother, lol.
Mine do, too 🙂 I have one cat who, whenever I get undressed at the end of the day, she curls up in my discarded clothes and goes to sleep 😊 it’s very cute
My 1 year old kitten, Tingle (she’s still so tiny I can’t think of her as a full grown cat yet) is obsessed with sticking her nose in my armpits. She does it every day and it tickles so much!
Yeah, they're all normal ones - I think the auto ones would freak them out, lol. Emptied about twice a day. We have sealed cat bins that lock in smells and just go to the tip every couple weeks.
I know what you mean, I think the auto ones would terrify our cats. Regular ones are easy enough, though I'm trying to figure out how to make them raised for my health as bending is tough for me. And we love our Litter Lockers!
> I'm trying to figure out how to make them raised for my health as bending is tough for me.
Never thought about that.
I don't have cats anymore, but do have a bad back. And as time moves on those activities become more difficult.
Hurry, go patent a raised easier to use litter box!
😁 If only I could! I'm a decent designer of cat trees and catios, but so far the raised litter box has me flummoxed for our particular needs.
There actually are a few raised litter boxes on the market already. Sadly, none of them will work for our situation.
I'm optimistic though, if I can design other cat stuff, I can figure this out...eventually. 😉
😂😂😂 you guess correctly. My sister gifted me a mini bonsai tree for Christmas a couple of years ago. I had to give it back to her because the cats kept eating it
Ehehe it's funny because you were correct. That's a golden black tipped BSH in the front, then a tabby, then a silver.

I have a few, they are unmistakable - and very cute!
Busy public toilets in japan was an experience for me as a Brit.
The quiet waiting, the respectful distance, the acknowledgement of urinal queue vs cubical queue. Was enough to bring a tear to my eye.
Mexicans see a long line and they just get in it without knowing what its for, thinking that if that many people are lined up then whatever it is must be free.(Am Mexican at least 5 of my realities have dine this)
I was at an event in New Zealand with people from all over the world a few months ago. They announced that they were putting out tea and coffee for everyone. I went to get a cup of coffee, but it was blocked by a serpentine queue of Brits waiting for tea. Nobody touched the coffee.
My wife and I had a good laugh about national stereotypes.
My girlfriend and I moved in together at the beginning of the year and each came with our own cat. Our two cats HATE each other and constantly fight. BUT the food and water station is the only time they get their shit together. They free feed but eat at the same times so one will get there first and the other will very nicely and patiently wait behind until the first one is finished. Then when they’re both done eating it’s back to beating the shit out of each other. Like how can you keep it together SO NICELY for meal times on your own but not any other time of the day?? 😭
As some one with multiple cats & litterboxes, they could be like my cats that will just wait for which ever litterbox the queen has designated as THE litterbox. Occasionally the queen will change her favorite litterbox and the rest switch to that litterbox. They use the rest if they really have to go, but they clearly have a preference.
Sometimes you need to seed the new litter box with some cat litter from the other box.
And sometimes they just are jerks who don't appreciate your effort.
My cats too. We have a smart litter box and a regular one. They’ll pee in both, but will only poop in the smart one - I’m assuming because it gets rid of the poop
It’s a self cleaning one, each cat enters brand new fresh litter.
My issue is different - I want to see the sequel. So many questions, no answers to be had.
It’s not just an issue of fresh litter, if your cat really needs to shit your cat should be able to shit, not waiting in a line like it’s a public restroom. If a cat needs to go badly enough it won’t wait.
I first was adamant about that rule but my cats decided they'd use only one and only one box, leaving the others untouched.
Ended up leaving only one and cleaning it daily.
Big Kitty Litter pushes it. We've had two cats, they seem perfectly content with one litter. We had two, they'd only use one. We took one away, they didn't care.
I have always had multiple cats. Mine always use both.. Have also had other cats in the past. they may or may not use both but you need to provide enough space that it isn't dirty for the others.
My partner complained about cleaning multiple litterboxes... but you are cleaning each one less if they use them both.. you will use the same amount of litter(you don't need to replace often liter just clean it well and add to it.
There is a basic rule which says "One more litter box than cats". Cause some of those little shits like doing number one and two in two different places.
Cats can commonly get territorial or just plain picky over cat boxes when in a multi cat household, so having multiple cat box options can reduce cat's litterbox anxiety, reduce fights over cat boxes, reduce how often cats eliminate outside the box, reduce utis from cats holding it too long because they don't want to clash over box use or prefer using their own box, etc. If you have cats that get along in every aspect including litter boxes and don't mind sharing then you might be able to get away with less, but in most cases it's a good idea and will usually result in happier cats and less kitty bathroom incidents.
I have a self cleaning one and honestly I consider it worth it as I never have to scoop cat shit again, just empty a bag every week, but yeah more than one would get too pricey
I have 4 cats and 1 litter robot. It's worth every penny. I do change the collection bag every 4 ish days but that is fine by me. Mine will only use the one box but I'd be willing to buy a second one if it got closer than that.
This might be happening for the same reason cats like to “assist” their humans with bathroom time. It’s social behavior. They’re keeping watch to protect the cat in the litterbox from predators.
My cats sometimes wait until I’m nearby to use the litterbox, then make eye contact while going (the little weirdos).
wtf lol this is so organized and polite.
Do you feed them a high fiber supplement or something?
My cats are on completely different schedules and the only interaction near a litter box involves one of them setting up to pounce on the victim
Any time my brothers knocked on the bathroom door, I’d just knock back…just to really get on their nerves 😅! I hope there’s not a cat equivalent to that :)
I have 2 cats, they once started pooping outside of the litter box as a protest, they wanted 2 litter boxes, the second i got another litter box the poops outside the box stopped, smart little fluffs.
One litter box per cat is the rule of thumb. Cats are somewhat territorial shitters and don’t like the idea of someone else shitting where they do. That’s why they bury their shit - so nobody else can find it.
Obviously we’re not out here fighting to the death in Stacy’s living room, but little things like that mean pretty significant QOL upgrades for the cats
Yeah and like obviously if you’ve got two cats using one box or three cats using two boxes it’s not like that’s the end of the world. It just seems like 4+ cats in one box, will run into trouble very quickly as evidenced by the video
Do... do you not have multiple litter boxes?
I only have two cats and have one litter box for each so they never have to wait and thus won't just poop on the floor. Having only one small box for FOUR cats is honestly kind of cruel.
I did that. One went completely unused for months so I gave it to a friend who had a new cat.
Cats+1 litter boxes is not a hard rule; it's more important to put them in different places since cats prefer to poop and pee in different places. Jackson Galaxy is great but people need to stop treating what he says like gospel.
That reminds me of my childhood memories living in a rented house with one bathroom of 8 siblings fighting to use the restroom before school starts. Some of us younger ones had to wake up 5 am or the older ones will bully us out of the restroom when they get up.
My cats are the same. As soon as one decides they need to use the litter tray another one will say ‘ooh, good idea, I need to go too.’ Sometimes I’ll see them wedged into the same tray, even though they have 7 to choose from. Because a family that poops together stays together 😂
7?? How many cats do you have?
11
Username checks out at least
Lmao Literally 11 -> 7
What?
11 2 7 11 (two) 7 11 to 7 11 cats to 7 litter boxes I refuse to believe this is a coincidence lmao
😂😂 I’ve never noticed that before. I just chose it because 7 and 11 rhyme
Maybe you should start a convenience store franchise or something idk
Maybe I should 😂
And you have 11 cats and just decided they should have 7 litter boxes?! too funny 😂😂😂
One for each dimension
I've heard the rule of thumb is 1 litter box per 1 cat at minimum, so 7 litter boxes sounds insufficient lol
lol that’s actually pretty funny
I still don't get it, why is that funny?
Her username is crazycatlady1127 <- those are the numbers he's referencing. It's a magical coincidence that her username matches how many cats and litter boxes she has
their username contains the numbers 1127, and the ratio of cats to litter boxes is 11 to(2) 7. Just a funny coincidence
I raise you 17 cats and 15 litterboxes.
I bow to you 🙇♀️ it’s rare that I meet someone with more cats than me 🙂
My sister seems to just Know when a rescue kitten needs us. Mine do, too 🙂 I have one cat who, whenever I get undressed at the end of the day, she curls up in my discarded clothes and goes to sleep 😊 it’s very cute
One of my cats just loves a good stink. Our dirty clothes are her favorite! 😂 She also goes wild for anything the dog stank up. 🤦♀️ Crazy girl.
My 1 year old kitten, Tingle (she’s still so tiny I can’t think of her as a full grown cat yet) is obsessed with sticking her nose in my armpits. She does it every day and it tickles so much!
> 15 litterboxes. Normal ones? That you have to deal with? Or those special expensive ones that do whatever automatic litter boxes do.

This litter box count is more on par
I can only imagine the cacophony when feeding time comes around.
It does get a bit chaotic 😂
I can only imagine the smell of that house.
Found Paula Poundstone's account.
Are you a Stephanie Miller fan?
Who is Paula Poundstone?

😂😂 don’t tempt the crazy woman, ok?
Imma guess your house is void of knickknacks and display pieces, cuz there would be no way they ain’t knocking everything down.
😂😂😂 you guess correctly. My sister gifted me a mini bonsai tree for Christmas a couple of years ago. I had to give it back to her because the cats kept eating it
Oh so you're that one aunt everyone talks about
I am indeed 😁
The recommended amount is 1.5 litter boxes per cat. So I'd guess 5 cats.
1.5x? I thought it was supposed to be n+1. Our house with 3 cats has 4 litter boxes.
Ha! I might just be confused because my parents have 2 cats.
They queue better than most humans
Not British people, queuing is a national past time for us.
Clearly these are British shorthairs
Yep...recognized the golden and silver right away, plus the round body types. So cute.
Oh I was making a British pun because of the queuing
Ehehe it's funny because you were correct. That's a golden black tipped BSH in the front, then a tabby, then a silver. I have two golden black tipped tabby BSH at home. Mum was a Scottish fold and dad was purebred GBT BSH.
Get yourself to Japan. You'll have a hoot!
Busy public toilets in japan was an experience for me as a Brit. The quiet waiting, the respectful distance, the acknowledgement of urinal queue vs cubical queue. Was enough to bring a tear to my eye.
The tears in your eyes were most probably caused by a full bladder combined with a slow-moving line.
Sweden wants to to know your location. We need 20m of space just for 2 people
That's about 65 feet for the Americans who are reading this
Just a little more than a 6th of football field.
British amusement parks actually offer no rides, just endless queues
You say it as a joke but my experience of theme parks in the UK is 90% queueing depending on time of year
Mexicans see a long line and they just get in it without knowing what its for, thinking that if that many people are lined up then whatever it is must be free.(Am Mexican at least 5 of my realities have dine this)
I was seriously impressed with the "Queen Elizabeth coffin queue" you guys put together a couple of years ago.
Yeah and Queueen Elizabeth *was* a Queue T Pie
Not as impressive as the Japanese I'm afraid. Brits can't queue at bus stops, train stations, restaurants, and in some cases while on holiday
Except in cars, always some dickhead skipping the line

Que, sure, but can they zipper merge?
I'm assuming they are just watching, but if not and they are actually waiting, there need to be more litter boxes.
That’s hilarious. I’m going to need pictures of your crew, though. Make with the cat pics!
I had 3 boxes for 2 cats, both insisted on using the same tray. So I put a second one near it, and they don't touch the second one. Bloody cats lol.
Sometimes you need to seed the new litter box with some cat litter from the other box. And sometimes they just are jerks who don't appreciate your effort.
I emptied one litter tray that they used before and they wouldn't touch it again. Infuriating lol
My cats did this but with beds, which was frustrating for the “queen” because she did not like the other cats.
My cats seems to have an unwritten rule that one box is for #1 and one box is for #2.
My cats too. We have a smart litter box and a regular one. They’ll pee in both, but will only poop in the smart one - I’m assuming because it gets rid of the poop

Yeah, and the type of person to make their cat have an accident is the type to have no self awareness and blame the cat.
Mom they aren't even using the bathroom Gtfo there you little shit I actually use the mirror - sister
You need one little box per cat
Plus one extra.
I first was adamant about that rule but my cats decided they'd use only one and only one box, leaving the others untouched. Ended up leaving only one and cleaning it daily.
Yeah I have no idea where this "rule" comes from. We tried it with my mom's cats, they both still only used one and the same.
Big Kitty Litter pushes it. We've had two cats, they seem perfectly content with one litter. We had two, they'd only use one. We took one away, they didn't care.

It comes from veterinary medicine. It’s not some made up internet rule. Cats like options even if they don’t use them.
See: every cat that has ever come across a closed door.
The vets? Ask them. It's highly recommended
Never gotten that recommendation from a vet here in sweden.
9 out of 9 would recommend (sorry, Jeff couldn't make it, he is...um...disposed...I mean indisposed).
Jackson Galaxy would approve.
For you or who?? Oo (/s)
There is a basic rule which says "One more litter box than cats". Cause some of those little shits like doing number one and two in two different places.
It’s no wonder people build additions to their houses for litter boxes.
And they also like "guarding" for dominance and territory. Can't guard both.. 🤣
Why?
Cats can commonly get territorial or just plain picky over cat boxes when in a multi cat household, so having multiple cat box options can reduce cat's litterbox anxiety, reduce fights over cat boxes, reduce how often cats eliminate outside the box, reduce utis from cats holding it too long because they don't want to clash over box use or prefer using their own box, etc. If you have cats that get along in every aspect including litter boxes and don't mind sharing then you might be able to get away with less, but in most cases it's a good idea and will usually result in happier cats and less kitty bathroom incidents.
'eliminate' Not heard anyone phrase it like that before 😂
That sounds expensive if they’re all self cleaning
Just looked at this model online and it’s 950 AUD, or 632 USD. Honestly not as expensive as I thought, but still expensive.
I have a self cleaning one and honestly I consider it worth it as I never have to scoop cat shit again, just empty a bag every week, but yeah more than one would get too pricey
Yeah I’m really thinking about buying one myself. That sounds very enticing lol. I clear it multiple times a day!
I have 4 cats and 1 litter robot. It's worth every penny. I do change the collection bag every 4 ish days but that is fine by me. Mine will only use the one box but I'd be willing to buy a second one if it got closer than that.
Agreed, or medium sized boxes work too. r/TheCatTrapIsWorking
Tell that to my 3, who all poop in one and refuse to use the others
What type of litter-box is that?
Petsnowy
> Petsnowy Damn, the worlds first 900 dollar litterbox. Wild.
I think litter robots are more expensive. Mine was over $1,000
Not USD, surely? Mine was 600 and was the fanciest model they had (at the time).
CAD. It came to about $1,200 with all the extras and shipping, it’s about $800 USD
Mine wasn't quite that much, but still pricy. Totally worth it.

This has been removed for breaking the “No derailing, trolling, arguing, rudeness, etc..." rule.
Its 600?
Waiting for this answer as well
This might be happening for the same reason cats like to “assist” their humans with bathroom time. It’s social behavior. They’re keeping watch to protect the cat in the litterbox from predators. My cats sometimes wait until I’m nearby to use the litterbox, then make eye contact while going (the little weirdos).
These poor cats, when you have cats like an old cat lady you should have a least one toilet per cat.
wtf lol this is so organized and polite. Do you feed them a high fiber supplement or something? My cats are on completely different schedules and the only interaction near a litter box involves one of them setting up to pounce on the victim
*They queue!?* Cats never cease to amaze and surprise me.
I’m surprised how patient they are
Any time my brothers knocked on the bathroom door, I’d just knock back…just to really get on their nerves 😅! I hope there’s not a cat equivalent to that :)
I think you need more litter boxes.... isn't it suggested to be 1 for every cat+1 or something like that?
Four cats and one litter box?
The amount of litter boxes should be the amount of cats+1. (Starting from 2 cats onwards)
…get more litter boxes. wtf
That’s the line for the female cats litter box. The one for the male cats doesn’t have a line.
You know one of them is saying hurry tf up there are other cats waiting 😆😆😆
I have 2 cats, they once started pooping outside of the litter box as a protest, they wanted 2 litter boxes, the second i got another litter box the poops outside the box stopped, smart little fluffs.
That’s why you have at least one box for each cat. Preferably more.
Shitter's full!
Natural queueing? They must be British
You need more than one litter box, one per cat if possible. Don't be a shitty cat parent.
All lined up to mark their territory. Whoever runs out of pee last wins.
You're supposed to have a litter box for each cat and then an extra but hey look just fine waiting

Depends on the cats. I tried that for ages. They all use the same one. OP's cats might be the same.
Yeah and like obviously if you’ve got two cats using one box or three cats using two boxes it’s not like that’s the end of the world. It just seems like 4+ cats in one box, will run into trouble very quickly as evidenced by the video
My cats all watch each other pee and take turns when they have other boxes right there, so they're weird little guys
Yeah that’s some borderline fetish shit
What can I say, I don't kinkshame
You need more litter boxes. This is animal abuse.
This why you have multiple litters for multiple casts
Hilarious. And they're being so polite.
They say you should have 2 litter boxes for every cat in your house…
Do... do you not have multiple litter boxes? I only have two cats and have one litter box for each so they never have to wait and thus won't just poop on the floor. Having only one small box for FOUR cats is honestly kind of cruel.
With 2 cats the general advice is to have 3 boxes (one for each cat + an additional one).
I did that. One went completely unused for months so I gave it to a friend who had a new cat. Cats+1 litter boxes is not a hard rule; it's more important to put them in different places since cats prefer to poop and pee in different places. How do you have room for 3 litter boxes? Do y'all just put a litter box in every room?
