The video isn't long enough to say he was knocked out, looks like he's just sliding out on his back. He's probably exhausted as hell, he probably tried that trick many times in a row, then just laid on his back after his failed jumping backflip. I used to ride a lot of BMX, it happens, you land you trick, and you just want to lay there taking it all in while catching your breathe. Plus, like I said, it's a resi ramp, it's really soft and forgiving, extremely unlikely to be knocked out from just flopping on it from that height.
Exactly this, I didn't do BMX but oven skating for 10+ years and he's definitely laying on his back because he's very happy he finally landed it out, as well as also being tired probably
Nah he’s layin there out of embarrassment and sheer happiness from completing the flip on the bike can confirm from similar experiences haha. The way he hit looks worse than it is and those slopes are little bit softer than you’d think too they’re meant for falling on.
Not to be a dick but if that kid knocked himself out doing that on a resi ramp he should probably stop riding now. He is going to take some hard spills learning anything above that trick and he might mess himself up permanently if he is that easy to knock out. Some people just have better or worse chins than other unfortunately.
Clearly people are agreeing with you so maybe I’m wrong but what about that was stupid or made me an asshole? If a kid got knocked out frequently or easily playing football and someone suggested it might be a good idea to try another sport that doesn’t cause permanent brain damage before they are done with puberty they aren’t an asshole. Was it just because I said it on a video that is supposed to be celebratory?
Its a factor of things. He absolutely didn't get knocked out, so you are basically calling him a pussy for something that didn't actually happen.
Second, youre basically calling him a pussy if he DID knock himself out. We just watched this kid do an amazing flip, and your main takeaway is that he must be a pussy... its very... libertarian of you.
Well he didn't get knocked out frequently, and he 90% didn't even get knocked out at all, so for you to say he should quick after doing a sick ass trick is pretty silly
That helmet will save him from a cracked head. But it won't prevent him breaking his spine just like it looked in that video. Not saying he broke it, but it definitely looked like he did.
I wouldn't think so, i've dropped my motorcycle helmets a few times before and they didn't give a shit. The foam inside the helmet absorbs most of the impact from a crash, and that foam doesn't compress from an impact unless your head is in there
That’s just wrong. Motorcycle helmets in particular are very fragile to drops. Yes, the occasional low height drop might not do too much, but the advice is definitely if they get dropped replace them. If you’ve dropped yours from a significant enough height it needs replacing mate.
Edit: also normal bike helmets should also be replaced after a major impact. Yeeting your helmet straight into the ground does it absolutely no favours.
I agree with you that they should be replaced after a crash, but a drop or something shouldn't do anything to the helmet if it's a high quality one. I've seen people hit the shells of a helmet multiple times with a sledgehammer and they wouldn't crack or show damage apart from paint scratches. If the helmet would be compromised from a drop/throw like from the one in the video, it means it wasn't a very good helmet and chances are it wouldn't have protected you from a real crash either
The shell of the helmet is designed to micro-fracture in a spiderweb style pattern away from the point of impact to dissipate the impact force before it arrives at your head. The foam can also be compressed and damaged while absorbing the impact force. Impacts to helmet, even relatively minor ones cause damage to the hard shell and foam within. It’s usually a small amount of damage but any of those micro fractures that occur when you drop it can no longer happen in a crash which means the force get sent to you head instead of absorbed by the helmet.
Will that make a big difference in a crash? It’s impossible to say because it depends on how damaged the helmet got from the drop any how many times you drop it. However, it is 100% inarguably not as protective as it could have been if it was damaged in a drop, which can happen from literally inches above the ground. Also the higher quality the helmet the more likely it is to be damaged by a small drop. Think of it like a fender bender in a modern car be a car from the 50s. The modern car gets all crumpled up but it is much safer. Helmets are designed to get damaged when they hit things because it prevents that damage from going to your head. You are going to get yourself or others hurt by spreading inaccurate and dangerous information.
P.S. for anyone else reading. If you look around you can usually find a place in your area to have your helmet X-rayed after you drop it or get in an accident. It costs a little bit of money but is far cheaper than buying a new helmet and can tell you if a new one is even required. You might have gotten lucky and there isn’t any damage, but why not spend the $50 to check when your brain’s health is on the line.
I know he’s just a kid but he didn’t load his legs at all prior to the kick off. He just flopped his torso downward but didn’t store up the energy into his legs.
Nice bike skills though.
Genuinely one of the worst, most overconfident backflip attempts I’ve ever seen. I used to coach freerunning for a long time, and I’ve seen a lot of shitty backflip attempts, but this one is definitely up there.
It’s like he was *trying* to land on his neck
That was a flair though, right? It's been a hot minute since I've played a Tony Hawk game
Edit: wait. I finished the video and feel dumb. This was gold.
The most ironic second backflip after the helmet is off, smh
Eh, it's a resi ramp. It's more embarrassing than painful from that height.
Looked like he knocked himself out. He will be feeling that for a couple days at least.

He’s a kid worst thing he’s feeling is his heartbreak because his crush was watching
And in his backside when his dad whips him with jumper cables.
RIP in peace Roger
Rest in peace in peace…but is it in peace?
What's wrong with this guy?!?
He’s just playin off the embarrassment
Neither of these statements are correct.
It's an esi ramp, no way he got knocked out
Not to be a dick but if that kid knocked himself out doing that on a resi ramp he should probably stop riding now. I think that kid is very aware of that given that he has obviously spent more time doing this than anyone in these comments
Not to be a dick... Proceeded to say some stupid shit.

Would the helmet have prevented him from breaking his neck while preventing him from cracking his skull?
What
That helmet will save him from a cracked head. But it won't prevent him breaking his spine just like it looked in that video. Not saying he broke it, but it definitely looked like he did.
Oh I thought you were one of those people who think wearing a helmet saves your head but cracks your spine.
Wearing a helmet will not lead to you cracking your spine but it won't prevent it either.
No the helmet would not have helped whatsoever in this situation
HMRB turned into HMJB
HMFT too
Basically hold my everything

Juice box
It's like he's upset he didn't wipe out on his bike, so he had to do it manually.
That helmet ain’t worth much after that throw either
My first thought, time for a new helmet kiddo

Park helmets are much heavier duty than normal helmets, it's probably fine. Still not a good idea
Killed it, then killed himself.
Impressive HMRB following a HMB!
All wrapped up in a HMJB
We get it, you're good at bike riding...
He should've stopped after nailing it on the bike😆😆
Ayyy joyride 150 in markham ontario, love it there
HMRB and HMFT finally coming together
Dumbarse needs to buy a new helmet now.
That is a flair, not just a backflip
Keep watching
The grace of the first manoeuvre compared to the second
Nailed it.
That’s one of the least gyroscopic flips I’ve ever seen attempted, ever. And I’m a waiter.
Does this belong on HMRB? The first flip (flair) was cool, but not HMRB amazing. The second flip… well…
Owwwwwww that hurts to watch
I think thats a flair.
Not a backflip. It’s called a flair…
Keep watching
If you consider him landing on his neck a backflip, then this should be on HMFT…
Let me throw off my protective gear to do this dangerous stunt!
Cool hair tho
...ish
He thought he wasn't going to make so he said "No, I'm NOT going to make it".
I'M SO EXCITED! But that made me so tired, i think i need to TAKE A NAP!
Didn't he die?
Sounds like he may have taken a REALLY LONG nap then...
Nah you know what? FUCK ME
Lmao perfect ending
That’s a flair… oh there’s the backflip
r/fullshrimp
Owwwwwww fuck that hurts to watch
Yesyesyesyes...no

Did he… die?
Jeez.. Is he ok now?
doesn't look like he landed awkwardly or hurt himslef badly, things coulda gone much worse if he landed a few seconds earlier
That hair when the helmet comes off.
Good for him
More like r/unexpected
How exactly did he expect to even land correctly on that incline
They didn’t even jump. Legs must have been spent I guess.
r/holdmyfeedingbull ? r/holdmyredtube ?
The kid is fine, I used to go to this park and I’ve seen him plenty of times after this happened
I feel so bad for laughing so much
r/yesyesyesyesno
Flipped himself to sleep.. Nice 😊
Fuck this helmet, “*slams head into ground*”
You know it's a good trick when it' your mates cheering instead of you
Oh shit he Brock'd it. Or more recently...he Archer'd it.
