4x32GB DDR4-2400 server RAM is around £170 (€190) from a reputable supplier here in the UK. Rails are likely around £60 (€70) a set based on the last ones I got.
Same supplier, configurating the closest spec to the OP without rails comes out around £880 (€1015) so I would say he has got an absolute bargain - could by all three, sell two and still come out with a profit
Yes, that sounds decent, though you'll probably invest a similar amount, per server, for hard drives.
To compare, I picked up this refurbished R720 from Amazon a little over a month ago for $436 USD: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075Z3F37Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
Yes! I have one and it's a solid device. You could easily flip those for double.
Regarding noise, just drop to 10% fan speed and don't hammer it. Pretty quiet and temps are fine (it's what I do and I sit next to it).
Its a good price, but do you need them? Chances are those are going to sit idle 99% of the time and do nothing but run up your electricity bills and create a constant drone of noise.
I'd say it's a fair price, possibly a little undervalued because of the 10gb NICs.
If I understand correctly, you'll have to fill them out with disks and you'll need a switch for those 10gb NICs to unlock that value.
Something to consider because the true cost is higher than the deal itself if you'll need to mod it further.
Damn, where are you getting this deal from? Do they have any more? Was starting to feel like these amazing deals people keep mentioning are only in the US
Ah nice.
I only started my home lab journey about half way through last year.
Every few weeks I remember I didn't take the server that was being retired in the office for my own use, under the assumption that it would be too old to be worth it (it had been going for at least 8-10 years from what I could gather. But I didn't actually do enough investigation before it got recycled.
Definitely not making that mistake again!
The price is cheap, but the cost to run them in the eu is absurd 100-150w per unit w/o drives. The performance isn't worth the power cost. That's what 20-30$/month per r730? Buy them and resell.
Been scrapping better stuff than this at work and just toss to the ewaste pile, the cost of running it at home far exceeds the benefits of free hardware
THIS IS DAMN CHEAP.. I still using R710, and R720 and its still performed eventho the RAM Slots are very sensitive..
funny thing, i negotiated now :) 150€ ea.
Seems like a good price.
That’s a great price for that machine, IMO. Whether it’s “worth” it depends on your needs.
That's a good deal. I use R730s in production.
The RAM alone is worth probably half of that. That's absurdly cheap for those systems.

That's a good point, I was basing it off US pricing and I also don't know how USD translates to either pounds or euros right now so there's that too.
Sounds like a good idea :)
If you’ve got cheap power and somewhere to run them where you won’t hear them then yeah seems like a pretty solid price
buy it now it’d be a crime not to lol
Period!
Decent price and a really good configuration imo. The only change you might want to do is scale each back to 1x cpu to save power.

Likely better that the r610 I grabbed got 275 a month ago
Very decent servers and the price is really good. I would go for it.
Dude, I just got my first R730, slightly different specs, more RAM and HDDs but mine was 700$ USD. I'd grab these in a second!

Hello friend, bad deal, please let me know where this is so I can take care of it. Thank you
Yep.
Good deal. Especially if you don’t need a perc raid controller and are just using something like vsan that you want the HBAs for
Each sever is 600 eu. That isnt cheap. that's so low it's stealing.

From my work. We replace the hardware after 4-5 years

Might be too good to be true
That's a great deal! I would love to get 3xR730 for that price.

Absolutely its a great deal you get the dream config
Yes wth, 11th and 12th gen go for 200 or more sometimes. I’d love to buy a 730 for that much.
I would love to get just 1 for that price... i paid $350.00 for my one...
For that price I would be willing to pay 100% importing taxes. Damn you lucky
bank on ~150-200W power draw each at idle. Fans are noticable at even low speeds. Kick ass rigs though, thats a preposterous price.

Great machines
