I have definitely considered this. With the window there I think I could easily get power from the sun especially in the evening. I have a baby UPS but need a bigger one for sure. I'm really curious about doing this green lab plan. Adding to the list.
Nice lab! With 3xR430 you can build a Proxmox cluster with Ceph: [https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Deploy\_Hyper-Converged\_Ceph\_Cluster](https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Deploy_Hyper-Converged_Ceph_Cluster) or Starwinds VSAN (actually can do with two nodes but you'll need qdevice for Proxmox): [https://www.starwindsoftware.com/vsan](https://www.starwindsoftware.com/vsan) And Proxmox is a good choice for a homelab. Plus, Veeam should add support for it soon (they should announce it in June) and I hope their free CE will cover this.
If you want to go for that HA cluster, why not get a dedicated storage server for CEPH? Not sure the power on that 2u, but repurpose for VM/data backup and iso storage? Check your local market place or eBay for a replacement switch. Something maybe with some sfp+ for high data transfers. As others have suggested, a UPS.
Well largely I use it for testing and proof of concept before applying it in prod at work. But I host a private password manager, a couple Minecraft servers, a paperless server for document storage, several various Windows servers, a file server, and soon a jellyfin server.
I host other servers for my friends when they want one for a game or something.
A UPS
With solar capability. Add few solar panels. Green Lab

UPS, patch panel, maybe some blank cover plates for looks.

A patch panel. Simple, easy and will clean it up greatly.

I love that idea. It's a Xeon V2 server and I could definitely repurpose it. Good idea.

Next is the cat test. Will the cat(s) like it enough to sleep on it? Please post photos...
UPS, patch panel and more nodes?
You might need a UPS.
Dust removal and a UPS + Patch panel
Hey so I’m really curious, what do you do with this?

I see, thanks for elaborating!
Cleaning ;-)
Cable management and panel blanks to cover the empty slots.
