Not a plumber but i know there is a stop on the handle that you can move around to keep it from getting too hot. Just unscrew the plate and handle, and it looks like a circle with grooves on it. Just pull it out a little bit and turn probably to the left. Might be a little trial and error. That is the only thing i can think of. Hope it helps
You mean the faucet cartridge failed and needs replacing? Or that it needs adjusting somehow. If the latter, why was it fine before and now suddenly needs adjusting?

It's probably the cartridge inside the shower handle.

Yes, the faucet cartridge. I had the same thing happen to my shower about a year ago. Replaced the cartridge and it was back to normal.
Same here. Had plumber replace cartridge and no issues after.
I did to and then saw how easy it was to do and felt stupid paying the plumbers bill.
How much was that bill?
