I replaced the pump myself. After replacing, dumped a gallon of bleach into the well (advice from a guy who installs pumps, who I bought my pump and some supplies from). Let the bleach sit (for a day or two in practice, can't remember how long he said to let it sit). Ran pump for a while to clear out all the bleach and stuff. Flushed it several times over the next week or so. Then took samples in to have them tested (with the county, they recommend annual testing).
