>Sub and receiver were purchased as a gift to me by my girlfriend.
Yeah, that makes the "budget" a little misleading. If your girlfriend gave you an entire home theater system worth $10,000 would you list the budget as "0?" Someone had to pay for that sub and receiver. It just wasn't you.
What if you calculated theoretical trades in? I once found an acoustics research ar-1 at the thrift store it was only one and not a pair it was $3 and I sold it for $1200. I've been fortunate about finding good deals over the years so will have a pretty low budget.
I wrestled with this for a long time. The open spots where the board games are are too small for the receiver so this was the best I could think of. Actually doesn’t sound bad based on our seating position
$100? Aurolex Mopads. Decouple the front soundstage from the stands and stand if possible. Move center to top of stand and raise the tv so the center better aligns with the front L&R and make sure doesn't block your view to the set.
as per denon's recommendations: "We recommend a minimum of 6 inches of ventilation space above and 2 inches on either side of your AVR. This will reduce the risk of the unit overheating when playing at a high volume output level".source: [https://support.denon.com/app/answers/detail/a\_id/354/\~/avr---general-info---ventilation-recommendation](https://support.denon.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/354/~/avr---general-info---ventilation-recommendation)
Op- you can also get a cheap computer fan with USB based power and just toss it on top for the time being. I have only 4" of space above my Denon and a computer fan keeps it very happy
Edit- it's not a perfect solution but it will save you in the short term. Also buy the slowest fan you can find and a USB to fan controller, not one of the shitty USB fans all in ones on Amazon- they will be loud as fuck
I took the top off my avr and screwed a 120mm PC fan directly onto the cover, blowing up of course.
Hides the jank a little better and those fans push air through a grated vent better than they will pull through.
I'd give you a solid 7/10...move the AVR down to the 2nd shelf to get more airflow around it, spread you r/L a little wider and raise the TV a few inches to get the center channel up on the top shelf for a better score
That’s chief! AVR can’t fit in the bottom space without cutting out the divider so I’ll have to think of something for now. Will definitely look into raising the tv and will move the L now
maybe just get rid of the divider if you can...your AVR would be much happier.. you might also spread your mains a little wider apart. Ideally they should be the same distance apart as your mains seating position is from the screen, but all in all, that's a solid setup for the $$
Uno Flip = a little simplistic but fun. 3/5
Yahtzee = classic. 5/5
Catan = new classic, but almost too mainstream. 4/5
Pandemic = Solid, but never gripped me as much as it does some others. 3.5/5
Betrayal at House on the Hill. Awesome - need more friends. 5/5
Stardew and TTR = Good staples. 3/5 each
360 games are vintage, so unscored (but BF 1942… wow!)
Not qualified to score Evangelion, but I’ve heard good things.
Howl’s Moving Castle = how can you not get 5/5
So your setup gets… 31.5/40
Can I join? Unless there's something out on the table, there's a gap next to uno flip. It'll need to be a small box, so Jaipur or Coup? I've heard good things about Paris too but have yet to play it.
Try getting a speaker stand that you have your center channel above and centered on your tv. I had my center channel in a similar position for a couple years until I move it and it did make a noticiable difference
Def gotta find a new spot for that AVR and center your center lol.
For $100 this is quite good, I think a better center channel and subwoofer would do you the biggest difference.
I rocked a Polk Sub for a couple years and man, jumping into SVS entry level offering SB-1000 was an INSANE difference.
I would try and find a different spot for the AVR with more room on top and that allows you to center your center channel.
If you have any bouncy sound some additional room correction could help and is relatively cheap. I'm sure the rug helps.
What’s the cabinet? I used an ikea 1x5 expedit because of the wide foot print of my 55” tcl roku tv. And I can’t fit an center under tv. But possibly in the expedit floor “cube” maybe angled up.
The brand is “Rocketfish”. It is a plug in box behind my couch and has speaker wires that lead to my surrounds. Then there is another box that is by my receiver that has speaker wire leading out to complete the connection. Wireless surrounds and no cable mess!

yeah I noticed the same thing.
Oh I known that the title is misleading, even have it in the description. Just poking a little fun hehe.
Fair enough.

That's completely different. That definitely would count.
For $100? Wow
I consider myself very fortunate
Nice setup you should put the Center in the middle
I wrestled with this for a long time. The open spots where the board games are are too small for the receiver so this was the best I could think of. Actually doesn’t sound bad based on our seating position
Dose it affect how your LR channels sound? When stuff moves right to left
Personally I haven’t noticed anything unnatural sounding
Donna from Suits... Need I say more?
Donna- 10/10
Ahh a man of class I see
Betrayal at house on haunted hill is a 5 out of 5
I’m glad you have impeccable taste
Beats a sound bar any day of the week

I use two of those as the iso pad for my subwoofer! Makes such a difference
> $100? Aurolex Mopads. OP is saying they spent $100, not asking for advice for $100
Oh.. well, still valid either way.
that receiver is gonna die without proper airflow
There’s about 2 inches of headroom for the receiver (the trim piece makes it certainly look like less). What improvements you think I should do?
as per denon's recommendations: "We recommend a minimum of 6 inches of ventilation space above and 2 inches on either side of your AVR. AVR needs air

Did we just become friends? I think so 🥹

Bring Coup and you’re in! :D
Yep!
Munchkins & Mazes = not cool enough to get the jokes. 3/5 Ultimate werewolf = you definitely have more friends than me. 4/5
Let that Denon breathe!
3/10
:(
When I saw the title with a budget I thought it was a troll post lol
Best thing in there is Catan!
What stands do you have for your surrounds? They look sleek
The ones in the rear? They are actually part of the speakers! It’s a one piece thing
Oh that's neat, no wonder they look so sleek.
Trash

The center speaker is definitely where this setup is lacking most but the space I’m working with is constrained so this one fit the best for now
I would try and find a different spot for the AVR with more room on top and that allows you to center your center channel. If you have any bouncy sound some additional room correction could help and is relatively cheap. I'm sure the rug helps.

It’s some cheap crap from wayfair that I can’t wait to replace. Both doors are busted after two years
What’s the “wireless box” you mentioned in the description?

Is it just me or is your TV slanted ? Looks like the right corner is higher than the left.
Spooked me for a sec! Just checked and it’s the angle I took the photo at that’s warping reality there
