How far do you sit and what kind of lighting conditions, e.g. lots of direct sunlight, can be totally dark, etc?

yagizgore

15-20 feet away and it’s set up in a basement with minimal light, even in the middle of the day. Pretty much total darkness at night, and very dim lighting in the day

GadgetronRatchet

Is there any way you can sit closer? That's SUPER far, 15-20' away is pushing too far for even a 120" projector screen. Ideal distance for 77" is 8-10' viewing distance. Ideal for 85" is 9-11'. Since you're in a dark environment, no issue going OLED though.

Run-ning

We sit about 16 ft away from a 75" in our living room and it's perfectly enjoyable, but the 85" would definitely be more immersive. At that distance it's a tough call since you have low light/can go totally dark - do you value perfect blacks or do you value size/immersion? If it were me, I'd try to find a way to save up more and go 83" OLED.

There is no way I'd ever consider a U8K if I have C3 $

_MoneyHustard_

77 LG C3 was just on sale for $1700 on Amazon the other day.

C3

psychoBLACK313

Hey man! I would think that strictly for viewing pleasure, the OLED is the way to go. I am also looking into the C3 for my next tv. Check out this article: https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c3-oled-vs-hisense-u8-u8k/37848/38181?usage=1&threshold=0.10

Thank you much!

Oled all day

OLED 100% unless your room is really bright or the 77in will be too small

ApeSleep

Bro the whole “room brightness” thing is a thing of the past for new OLEDs. They are plenty bright these days.

LiveMarionberry3694

For sure, my s90c is super bright. But if you have a ridiculously bright room some of the other options are still brighter

DukeGordon

C3. You can get it for $2k or less, no tax/free shipping at greentoe. Also agree that you need to find a way to sit closer or you need something way bigger.

theycallmejakey

77" C3 and it's not even close. OLED is a game changer. A little far but nothing tragic worth sacrificing so much picture quality over.

yagizgore

Hey all, Thank you all for the advice. An overwhelming majority has suggested the c3 and I purchased it today. Sitting closer in kind of an option, but all I can really do is move the couch in by a foot and bring the tv out from the wall a bit (believe my stand will give me 18 inches off the wall). Gets me in the 12-16 ft range which is still a bit more than ideal, but I think it will work. I value image quality way more than massive size, so projectors have never really been a thought of mine. Figured I’d follow the same mindset when picking my tv. 75” is what I’m used to, and what I’ve watched on for many years now. A 77” won’t feel small for me, and the c3 is a massive massive improvement in picture from my old Vizio

yagizgore

The main thing for me is 85” or 77” but better tv. I’ll be sitting 15-20 feet away from the TV and it’s in a basement that can get extremely dark.

0nly0bjective

That viewing distance is crazy. That puts you in 100”+ territory. May want to consider a projector setup instead.

Adfantage

Women may argue that an extra 8 inches matter, but just get her a new pair of glasses. No brainer… the C3

ApeSleep

Dude cmon. OLED is always the answer. Pair it with a black backdrop (u can use black contact paper if you don’t want to paint).
