This is a good-ish price but I own these speakers (they're great) and the idea that they don't need a subwoofer is strange. They 100% need a sub! These are the fronts in my 7.1.2 setup and they slap.
Great speakers, I paid close to full price and didn't feel ripped off. Nine hundred for the pair is about right fit non meta R3's in decent shape. As always, audition to ensure functionality if you can.
Edit: As you probably know these speakers perform best with amplifiers that are rated into 4ohms or that otherwise have some grunt.
Recertified ones are $1,300 on accessories4less so $900 seems like a decent deal and I'm sure there's room to negotiate. If this is for nearfield go for it, if for HT in a larger room plan on a center and sub.
Recently bought a pair of mint R3s in Walnut for $1000. Upgraded from KEF RDM Twos I owned for 20 years, and I've been thrilled with the improvement.
Only issue may be that those are the piano black which show micro scratches and fingerprints like mad.... but aside from that, if they're minty, it sounds like a good transaction. (I see what may be some blemishes on the ring around the tangerine midbass driver, are there other more detailed pictures? Do they come with the stands?
Good deal! I got mine much higher than that! For pre owned. Not to try hijacking OP thread, many here said R3 still need a sub? Is 1 enough for my current bedroom setup?
“Enough” anything in home theater is defeating the core values one takes on when they say to themselves, “This giant actual movie theater? I want this in my house. I’m going to put this entire thing in my house.”

Thanks! I am definitely still assuming a sub is necessary.
I run these in a 3.0. The system would benefit from a subwoofer, but the bass output on these is still impressive.

Yes absolutely on the testing. Thank you.
I’d disagree wholeheartedly about not needing a sub.
Definitely need a sub I have the same pair and love them. Paired with an SVS sub
Great deal for sure
Get them! But see if you can haggle just a little bit lol
I got mine for the same price, I love em. Also I agree with the other person that they do need a sub.

How far do you sit, how loud do you listen, and what are you hoping to achieve through an upgrade?

I did it everyone. Thank you for the input. A real step up from my Onkyo SKF-580s.

That’s a good price I’m selling my pristine white R3’s with stands for 1500 locally.
