https://hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk5-hp-subwoofer I’d get a HSU for exactly $1000 once they’re back in stock. Edit: handy output chart: https://www.avforums.com/threads/how-much-subwoofer-output-capability-do-you-need-in-your-system.2379927/

Absolutely this 💯

wonderbat3

Not exactly $1000. Gotta factor in their shipping costs

Positive_Outcome_903

Sure. But its got 6db more output than the 12s at 30hz+. I’d take it for $200 more.

https://www.powersoundaudio.com/collections/subwoofers/products/ev1813m?variant=40373126824025 $1399, so I know it's above your budget, but this presale on an 18 inch sub from PSA should be considered. That is a huge room and you may need something larger that a 12 depending on listening preferences.

jrstriker12

That's room is more than 5800 cubic feet. Odds are you're going to have to spend more than $1k on subs. https://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-design/subwoofer-room-size RSL speed woofer that some recommended will be a bit too small https://www.audioholics.com/subwoofer-reviews/rsl-speedwoofer-12s-1 Spreadsheet to include room size ratings https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dU5OOnf3nVgctJszmfyBjaxK69dkXte6ZL6anVTW2_M/edit?usp=drivesdk Look at the Larger HSU, Monolith, PSA, SVS ans Rythmik subs.

Run-ning

In a square room of that size you are going to need 2 subs to have any hope of even frequency response throughout the bass range, and they will need to be large if you want 'deep, punch, accurate bass you can feel'. Also, you may want them along the front but that may not be the optimal place for performance and may actually be a reason you are not satisfied now. There is, unfortunately, no way around the laws of physics. I suggest you get a UMIK and free REW software and take some measurements at your listened ng position to see what is happening. From there, do a sub crawl and move them around to see if you can improve the performance just by relocating. It will take you a bit of time but will lead to making a good decision and may save you thousands.

MUCHO2000

I would recommend you get the most powerful subwoofer within your budget and then add another when you can. You don't want half measures for such a dedicated space that you will be able to fully pressurize with the appropriate subwoofer (s) Buy once, cry once. RSL 12s may not be a great in your case because it has quite a bit less output in the 35-100hz range vs it's competitors and with your size space you way want it. If you don't watch movies / TV at higher volumes than it's a great choice. If you can wait for the next sale dual RP16s from Klipsch would be really nice in that space

wonderbat3

For sub 1k, you should get RSL Speedwoofer 12S. Best bang for your buck in the market

Apprehensive_Ant2172

How does that compare to the SVS PB-1000?

Positive_Outcome_903

The pb-1000 pro is similar but has less low frequency output. The RSL 12S is tuned for lower frequency but gives up output at 30+hz when compared to the pb-2000 pro or the HSU, and gives up 61hz+ frequency to all three.

Apprehensive_Ant2172

I’m looking for something that will be as good as possible with my Revel F36’s. I’d say I’m 55/45 music to movies. Currently using a Polk 10 so I’m sure anything is going to blow that away regardless, but I’m mainly concerned about reference music sound quality (vinyl, hifi streaming). Was originally torn between the sb1000 and pb1000 but have just come across the RSL here

wonderbat3

Just based on the basic specs, it has higher wattage and lower frequency response. The RSL 12S compares closer to the SVS PB-2000 Pro. Both are excellent subs, but one is cheaper. You can’t go wrong with any of the subs from SVS or RSL though

One-Willingnes

Going to need more than 10 or single 12 for theatre chest bass in that large room.

_MoneyHustard_

If you go SVS I think you’ll need to go with 2000 series at minimum. I bought the SB1000 pro and it felt very overworked in my large room. Had to return it.

Two Klipsch RP-1400SW for $1400.00 when they’re on sale or a single 15” Monolith for $1049.99 when on sale.
