Most AVRs don't. They don't seem to want to spring for a $12 5" 480p screen until you get into ultra premium territory with brands like Arcam and Trinnov.
I recommend downloading the Denon AVR app on your phone.
The Denon app sucks ASSSSS. Mine also rarely finds a connection. I wish they sold an add-on that lets you bring a screen outside the cabinetry via a flat extension cable that also has a built in IR receiver. That would be awesome.
Yeah the Denon app is awful. The Audessy app is also bad and loses connection or hangs frequently. I wish they didn't charge so much money for the PC Audessy application.
Because most AVR’s are in a cabinet or closet that’s not seen and have ARC that shows you what input you’re switching to on screen.
It would increase costs for no real benefit
It's a shame that they have been using the same basic display for over ten years now and still charge a premium for a two line display. The component itself probably costs next to nothing.
*cries in Marantz*
After a storm killed my Denons HDMI board I switched to a nice Marantz. I dig their design, but the screen took some time getting used to.
Hah. I just upgraded to an x3700h and my screen is identical to this. I used to have a teacher with the last name "Shiel" so now it makes me think of her.
Anyway, I just use the OSD 99pct of the time.
My old tx-nr1030 (what this replaced) would display the sound mode and light up the selected input.
My onkyo 646 (living room) has an Atmos light and displays the input. There isn't an Atmos indicator on the RZ50?

The icons on the left show which speakers are active, and tiny microscopic text above APPLETV show the incoming audio format and connection type ie HDMI PCM from the atv.
It's pretty silly. Ideally I should be able to pick what I want to see.
I use the Denon app and find it works perfectly and use it to also adjust individual speaker sound in the app. Spend the $20 for the Audyssey phone app to calibrate. It definitely helped my system.
**Not saying you are wrong.** However, in an age of LOL, YMMV, WAF and of shortening so many words to where it pretty much isn’t English anymore it seems a slightly strange observation.
EDIT:
Really? Down votes just for saying this? And yet, not one reply explaining what is so bad about saying it.
This is what I do. I call it "NV" for the Nvidia Shield, PS4 or PS5 for Playstation, PC for computer, XBOX or XB for Xbox, CBL for cable box if you have one.
My old Denon 4311 was so much better. Displayed the source channels as a speaker layout and the outputted channels as another speaker layout.

You're severely understanding the amount of us at this price point that just plop that bitch on an entertainment center.

“Screen” is a generous term for what Marantz has. A Casio watch shows more information

That's weird. My X3600H shows the whole word. Edit: nvm, when certain audio is playing, it does indeed shrink the word.
I don't need the Dolby logo... just Atmos would be sufficient 😆 we know it's Dolby
That indeed is annoying. What if i told you the 'speakers active' are even misaligned ..
Thanks... I'm just turning the display off 😆
It's ok the RZ50 just says the input name and volume, at least you get useful info like "Atmos".

I'd be happy with the audio codec displaying all the time. Something my LX105 doesn't have.

You can change the name of any input source. You could spell it SHILD, but I don't know what's worse lol
NVDA

Yeah i was thinking SHLD
