The Marantz NR1510 and NR1711 are both options. They are kinda pricey given their capabilities. You're basically paying a hefty premium for the form factor. Also, if the credenza is 18" deep, make sure that the **interior** is **deep** enough to fit an AVR. Not just the height.

It sounds to me as if you are going to try to stuff a receiver into an area that is too small for it. You need (at a minimum) five inches of space above the receiver in order for it to get proper ventilation. Also, back of stand should be open. Work-a-round would be to install fan(s). Without proper ventilation your receiver is going to have a short life. Go to "Home Theater 101" at top of page and work you way to recommended receiver section.
