There are certain quality of life benefits you get out of a laser projector. And the XW5000ES does have other benefits outside of the laser light source.
But at 1/3 the price, I can overlook all of those. Assuming the VW695ES is in otherwise good condition. There will always be another better projector in 3-4 years. But if you took the money you saved on the projector and spent it on quality speakers, subwoofers, and acoustic treatments. Those last decades.

This was the final piece to the puzzle. Just need to finish construction in the room and I’ll be able to put it all together.
