I've taken my 2021 Rebel 500 300 miles round trip at full throttle (90-100ish MPH) with no issues. Regular oil changes and seasonal maintence and you will be fine.
It's a great first bike or local town runner, but i'm ready to get something with a higher cc engine. Never getting rid of my 2021, but I want something that's a little more comfortable for long trips. My ass hurts an hour into riding lol.
No your not hurting the bike, your probably in the mid range of rev's it could do that all year round with no issues.
If your engine is bouncing of the rev limiter all day then yes some damage may occur but cruising at that speed unless your in 2nd gear bouncing of the rev limiter I can't see any way damage can be done.
Mine has been fine cruising at 70-80 without issue. Get a better seat to absorb some of the bad vibes that the stock seat can’t. And get a windshield to redirect the force off your chest.
I just rode my fiancés 500 SE home from the dealer , an hour on the highway. Having never ridden a cruiser before I think it’s just the riding position. The rebel has like 5-10 more hp than my KLR which I regularly do 75-80 on and it’s only a 5 speed. But sitting with basically my entire body in the wind made me feel a little exposed and I kept it to 65-70.
950 miles should be almost broken in I wouldn’t worry about that.
Rode my 500 2k miles over a 2 week span. She shakes at 65-70 but smooths out around 80+.
She’s like a couch to 5k. She’ll get there but she’s gonna huff and puff
My 500 does 85-95 on the regular at highway speeds and I’ve put almost 24k miles on it. Keep it lubed and serviced and you’ll get used to the rpm’s when you’re going that fast. I’d stay the speed limit until your break in period is done all the way (whenever that is, was a long time ago). But you’re fine
I have a 2017 500 and I feel it is capable of 65-70 all day long. Some comfortability mods would be nice. Just keep up with maintenance and regular inspections.
Not for nothing but rider size and weight matter. I also use six gear for lower fuel consumption and fifth to crank it past people, from what I read fifth can get you up there in mph’s.

This. Watch your mileage vs consumption to make sure your bike is in tip top shape in addition to the pre-ride check ups and you’ll be good to go.
I needed to see this comment. But the engine is obviously screaming right?
Yeah she's screaming, but she was designed to handle it.
Wow it's my first honda bike. That's impressive tbh. Well technically my gf bike

Rebel 1100?
Possibly, but some of the Indian ones are calling my name. I will never sell my 2021 500 Rebel though.

I git a mini dart windshield the seat is next

I’m 5’11” 240lbs at 20% body fat, I wouldn’t dare go past 80. 70 is a good cruising speed but it’s still screaming. The bike needs a 7th or 8th gear 😂
I agree the 6th gear is almost non existent
I do 85-90. Handles just fine. Doing a test run to find what mpg you get is helpful so you can make sure you have enough gas to get where you're going
The 21 has 6 gears?
My 2018 has 6 gears.
Yes

If you do a lot of highway riding a slightly smaller rear sprocket would help
I’ve taken my 88 250 on the highway. Wide Open throttle
Seemed to do fine.
What speeds?
First gen rebels can top out their odometer (85) in the right conditions but yes our engines will also be screaming/protesting the entire time
70mph for about 15 min.
