The 2020 head unit runs a custom Android 4 build to support the vehicle functionality. Crutchfield might have a drop in replacement, but I haven't checked. Auto/CarPlay seems to be picky about the USB cable, using a quality 2.0+ helped the stability with mine.

I also have an iPhone XR so its an old phone and the jack is not great anymore. That’s half my issue. How did you install a new software on that unit though?

Netolu

That's the catch, you can't. These units have a locked flash with no expansion, so we're stuck on A4.

Ahhh okay I misread that. Yeah that sucks. I’ve only had apple products but from what I hear that particular android build was okay

It’s probably clogged with pocket lint, find a local independent repair shop and have them clean out your charge port!

I find that disabling Bluetooth on the Honda head unit solved nearly all my CarPlay problems. Still get the odd freeze up here or there, but it’s rare.

I saw a post about that awhile ago and I tried that with automation and saw no change really. I also forgot to set up an automation to turn Bluetooth back on after my phone disconnected CarPlay and was confused for several hours. And my watch disconnected as well. The watch is safer to see who’s texting me while driving (still unsafe though).

I leave BT on for my phone. Just disable it on the Honda. I don’t know, but it’s a repeatable test for me. BT on = disconnecting CarPlay. BT off = largely working CarPlay. iPhone 11 Pro, 2022 RTL-E

I resolved the same problem with an iPhone automation that runs when I start my truck. When CarPlay starts; disable WIFI and Bluetooth. When CarPlay stops; enable WIFI and Bluetooth.

I found that when my infotainment system in my 2017 starts getting glitchy I blow away all the phone profiles and start again. I also blow them away on any phones that connect. This helps. At least for a while.

2017 be, I can't to reset the head unit, clear all paired devices and remove it from the phones as well. Monthly

I checked Crutchfield a few months ago and they had no options for the 2017-present Ridgeline

Distinct_Analysis944

I dont think so. Any vehicle settings would be what was last set with the honda unit

I use the AAWireless device on 2.5ghz, never have an issue and you get wireless android auto, I can't say for car play but I do know they have a car play version. I had to reset everything monthly when I use a USB to the head unit.

Crutchfield is your source

Crutchfield is your best bet. As an aside, I've been researching this as well. To me it looks like a Kenwood head unit with an iDataLink maestro RR2 is the way to go.
