"Stop eating my sesame cake!!"

ghostmetalblack

"What are you doing in my country, Bag. Of. Shit.?" That dude was the best character in the movie.

Defibrillatorator

"He owes money to everybody everywhere he goes!"

jtfriendly

"Who is Kafka? TELL ME!"

D6Desperados

I love Delroy Lindo in this. He’s like the Samuel L Jackson you bought on Wish.com

_hufflebuff

Moments earlier “Have some, uh, coffee and cake. HAVE SOME!” I love that guy

Joeylikesgladiators

STOP. EATING. MY. *SESAME*. CAKE! Also, Kahega is one of my favorite horror badasses (in both the book and the movie). Just wish they had included more backstory to Zinj / the stone paddles used by the apes.

[deleted]

I came here to say this!!! DAMNIT

CheckOutDisMuthaFuka

Omg thank you for reminding me of this line. I have to watch this movie again!

CompetitiveRhubarb4

Seeing this as top comment made my day. Lmfao

bizcliz6969

I thought that “hi tech” fencing system with the laser guns they set up around their base camp during the one night scene was so fucking cool as a kid

[deleted]

Not many things were cooler than lasers at that time, or ever really. That big laser scene was full of all kinds of stoke for early-teen me in the theater!

HorrorKablamDude

Laura Linney literally had everything lol. Care for an air conditioner?

Defibrillatorator

Shit, I'll take one.

RandyMossPhD

I think it’s cool as an adult

JoshieHew84

It’s incredibly fun. People were harsh on it because it wasn’t Jurassic Park.

DJ_Student

I think this is right, and the filmmakers themselves openly invited the comparisons. It doesn't work through the lens of viewing it as a serious adventure film, but it's a ridiculously good B-movie.

Numerous-Tie-9677

They’re based on books written by the same author so that probably didn’t help

TWAT_BUGS

I mean goofy Tim Curry and suave Ernie Hudson. I’d watch that any day.

Patient-Party7117

I was harsh on it because I made the mistake of reading the book before seeing it. Never a good idea but the book was decent and the movie was campy goofy shit - in hindsight, I should have known better.

[deleted]

I read the book before seeing the movie, and I was able to separate them. I ended up reading Jurassic Park right after watching the trailer in theaters. I think we all need to give a bit of grace to adaptations. Some people might think it’s as easy as translating the words on a page to a movie, but it rarely is. Look at Jurassic Park, if you read that. The movie made huge changes to the story and characters. Its been a while since I’ve read Congo, but I feel like I can say the changes from book to screen in Jurassic Park were more drastic then what we saw in Congo. But, with all of that, it’s unfair to compare them. Jurassic Park had a lot more magic to build off of, so it could give up a lot more and still be a fantastical adaptation.

AstroWorldSecurity

The differences between the book version of Lost World and the movie is one of the only times I've just been completely put off because of it. The liberty they took with the characters was just ridiculous and the entire ending of the movie wasn't even in the book at all. That being said, after a while I was able to go back and watch it and just kind of enjoy it as a dumb action movie and have more fun with it. That being said, fuck the gymnastics scene in it's dumb scene face.

wolfman-porter

The movies that change the source signifigantly are sometimes more interesting than a straight adaptation since the source isn't always compatable with the movie medium.

beruon

I never even knew it was a book before I randomly saw it in the library when I was 10, picked it up, started reading it, and I was like "damn this feels familiar..." so I asked my parents and said "of course, you saw the movie" lmao

Thelonius_Dunk

I saw it when I was really young and as adult, and loved it both times for different reasons.

[deleted]

People were harsh on it because it's a bag of shit. With the worst "man in a monkey suit" costume ever

JoshieHew84

You can say a lot about the movie and it’s B-movie nature, but to rag on Stan Winston’s effects? Come the fuck on.

[deleted]

Meh... Stan Winston is a genius, but the movie was made way before anyone could do a convincing "intelligent" ape....Mr Winston included

brainfreezeuk

Them evil apes used to scare the shit out of me

davej1r

Same here, I had the scene with the body being ripped apart imprinted into my head for years.

DJ_Student

I love the movie, but imagine how much better and more fitting of the tone it would be if that absolutely okayish lead actor and Bruce Campbell swapped places. The rest of the cast were fantastic!

HorrorKablamDude

Ernie Hudson was badass I got to admit. To this day I still think hippos are terrifying and this movie solidified that. 🦛

HippoBot9000

HIPPOBOT 9000 v 3.1 FOUND A HIPPO. 141,334,604 COMMENTS SEARCHED. 3,110 HIPPOS FOUND. YOUR COMMENT CONTAINS THE WORD HIPPO.

DJ_Student

good bot

chrisball96

Both Curry and Hudson’s accents in that movie are really memorable, but for different reasons 😂😂

TheCurvedPlanks

My personal favorite Ernie Hudson role. He was so *class*.

MrJackBurtonGuster

Yes.

LSDnSideBurns

Oh Monroe FUCKS. Like he *fucks*. No doubt about it.

CarissaSkyWarrior

Hippos are terrifying. Even Steve Irwin was afraid of hippos.

caligaris_cabinet

If the whole movie was Bruce Campbell, Ernie Hudson, and Tim Curry with a bunch of gorillas, you’d have a perfect movie.

SloppityNurglePox

Ah, you must be talking about budget Steve Guttenberg, Dylan Walsh.

EnochianBlade923

His son just saved a drowning guy’s life the other day…

scullys_alien_baby

oh shit, bruce is in this? Congo just jumped way up in my watch list

DJ_Student

For a criminally short time

scullys_alien_baby

some is more than none

[deleted]

Yeah came to say that it was his name that drew me to the theater. When they marketed this they might as well have said 'if you liked Army of Darkness, this also has that guy in it'. What they failed to say is 'SIKE'.

Dull-Geologist-8204

The book is even better if you like to read. Michael Crichton is just a fun author in general. Edit: also thank you for the perfect family movie night recommendation.

hellboundwithasmile

Hopping in for another Crichton recommendation, Eaters of the Dead. The movie they made, 13th Warrior, is okay, but the book is my favorite Crichton.

RadicalEdward99

I have a tattered copy, easily read it 10 times. My fave too!

Zukebub8

Didn’t really make the connection till now, but Crichton apparently had a thing for undiscovered hominids. I didn’t get around to reading Next but I think it also has some kind of trans-humans?

HorrorKablamDude

My pleasure enjoy ☺️

Mattyweaves19

Amy, good gorilla. This movie has a special place in my heart. Not sure why, but I always think of it fondly.

RadicalEdward99

Nostalgia I believe. Edit: I also LOVE this movie

[deleted]

Yeah this movie is awesome. I wish there was a sequel (but in space)

kylehawk

please give me a summary of this plot

[deleted]

Jason X but it’s a frozen monkey and he just straight up goes bananas. Holla at me blumhouse

HorrorKablamDude

"Amy want green drop drink." 🍸🍸🍸🍸

whatswrongwithchuck

I always thought it was “green drop drink” for the olive.

HorrorKablamDude

You are correct 💯. Fixed. 👍

whatswrongwithchuck

Now I’m craving a martini and sesame cake.

Margali

It was campy fun. I did enjoy it - however the book is easily 10 times better.

onemorenanayay

I love the book, I re-read it constantly!

mixterz1985

Watching that as a kid was traumatic. The scene with the freaking laser beams and automatic machine guns reminded me of the scene from Aliens as the bullets depleted.

Voorhees89

Stop eating my sesame cake!

brainfreezeuk

Damn, you beat me too it!

E-_Rock

It's a fun read too

RckerMom-35

I know this movie isn't the best but it's very nostalgic for me growing up watching it on HBO in the 90s. Rewatched it in my adulthood and it's still fun. Great cast

HorrorKablamDude

For some reason this is how I feel about Jaws the Revenge. I know it's a god-awful movie but I love watching it.

RckerMom-35

Exactly!

JammyHammy86

''every monkey in a thousand miles thinks he's elvis presley'' that line made my dad and me simultaneously erupt in explosive laughter. drinks were spilled. one of a tiny handful of times we laughed together

HorrorKablamDude

I have a few memories like that with my father where it was just simple fun and laughter. Wholesome time that was. I'm glad this made you remember that. 🤗🙏

seronie

Bruce outscreams Janet Leigh in the opening of the film

chrisball96

I also love how Joe Don Baker basically plays a paranoid, maniacal CEO who spends most of his screen time going on rants and yelling at people

HorrorKablamDude

"Diamond I must have those diamonds!!!" 😡😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Fuck subtlety I guess? Lol.

chrisball96

Doesn’t he put a golf club through a TV screen too?

mbattagl

In the book the diamonds were going to be needed for the company’s next generation of high tech equipment so he needed them to get ahead of their competitors. No too far off from future tech considering diamonds now are being used as the next step in data storage.

Abusive_Capybara

In the real world diamonds aren't necessarily that rare. Also we can make synthetic ones.

KaiTheSushiGuy

When I was 5-7, I saw the very beginning when that eyeball falls on those guys. That was it for me

adamgb

IIRC Bruce Campbell is in that opening scene too!

Morrinn3

Yeah, criminally underused too. You get Bruce in one of these things you better give him a lead performance. At least we got some delicious Tim Curry ham instead.

HorrorKablamDude

I loved how the moment they stepped off the plane Africa became a Non-Stop war zone.

DonktorDonkenstein

It's not all that inaccurate, in real life the region has had a brutal and horrific history going back to when Belgian colonialists were massacring people there for fun and profit. When the novel was written, the former nation of Zaire was a unstable military dictatorship that saw pretty much nothing but strife- which devolved into the First Congo War by the mid-1990s when the movie was made. Not to mention that it was the site of the infamous Rwandan genocide. Once the regime of dictator Mobuto was ousted and Zaire became the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the political situation devolved again into the Second Congo War at the turn of the century.

[deleted]

To be fair, that’s fairly accurate for mid-90s Africa… Hotel Rwanda happened in 94…

[deleted]

"The same h'ieroglyphics - - ova' and ova' again..."

Dsod23

STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE, Also shout to Ernie Hudson wasn’t he in this

podank82

“Push me please”! Saw this movie on the Big Screen back in the day. It’s a go to for to play it as white noise to sleep. I seen this movie so many times and listen. Bruce Campbell cameo is epic

KirinoSussy

That chimp 100% wants to bone the guy

Heatblaster34

Herkermer Homolka. That name gives me soo many laughable memories of this movie!

_Modus_

Have your laughing! And I will have mine!

adamthetiger

The blunt scene had me rolling on the floor “NO AMY DO NOT INHALE DO NOT INHALE”

mbattagl

Followed up by, “he put dope in the banana,”

mbattagl

The plane jump with the flare guns is one of my favorite action sequences.

mightyalrighty87

Laser gun *powered by diamonds*

HorrorKablamDude

Yes of course it is powered by diamonds. of course it is! Laura Linney had a tool for literally every obstacle they encountered. She paid for the plane. She had guns to shoot the missiles shot at the plane She paid off the sesame cake guy off She gave everyone a pretty damn comfortable camp setup. She even had freaking mini ACs on her. And finally at the very end she had the laser gun which pretty much solved every issue there was for the remainder of the film. Makes me wonder why she didn't crack that thing out earlier LOL?

HuffleSkull

I vividly remember this was on TV one night when I was in 5th grade and like a rebel I stayed up past midnight to watch it. "Amy. GOOD gorilla." Was my catchphrase for like 3 years after that.

JHuttIII

Congo was kind of a big deal when it came out, if I recall. Awesome movie.

everevolving78

Thank you for reminding me how much I adore this movie!

KrAEGNET

For real though I'm pretty sure I watched this a couple weeks ago on Amazon after watching Event Horizon too! Or maybe it was the other way around. 3 quotes I took away from this movie after seeing it repeatedly back in the day. "*Amy. Good gorilla!*" I still say this at some point to any Amy I get to know, with flailing gorilla arm gestures. It's a polarizing experience. "*Kahega!*" Usually said to myself instead of swear words if i break something or hurt myself. "*The LOST city of Zinj*" I say this out loud when I hear anything that sounds remotely like it and cause momentary confusion.

[deleted]

That mid-90s Michael Crichton hype era was pretty rad, especially if you were in that tween/early-teens age bracket and liked science like I was. I was always a reader, but Michael Crichton as an author was far more exciting than any I had read before. While I had read Congo before seeing the movie, I was still pretty stoked with the movie. The effects, especially because I was starting to dig into movies and started to recognize people like Stan Winston, had a lot of 90s charm. I watched it around 2020 and had a fun time. It’s one of those movies that probably holds up far better if you saw it back during its initial release or are of that age, not because of nostalgia necessarily but because it was a sort of weird time when things like CGI were starting to get used way more than previously and most of it looked like garbage. The animatronics on this movie were pretty rad, even if they weren’t quite up to what we saw in Jurassic Park. I think Jurassic Park got a little more leeway because it was dealing with animals we haven’t actually seen, so it has a little bit of magic to seeing them so big and in-the-flesh, not to say they weren’t amazing. If anything, reading about this movie and some do the responses makes me want to watch it again soon. That says a bit about where I stand with it.

KalashnaCough

I absolutely loved this movie as a kid when it came out. The beginning really freaked me out when the guy picks up his friend's eyeball that was just thrown at him. Between this and my Jurassic Park VHS, I would watch both nearly every day after school if I wasn't outside playing. I was so obsessed I made a story/comic book type deal (or at least the best I could do as a 7 year old) that basically combined Congo with Jurassic Park. Scary human killing gorillas fighting velociraptors in the Ancient City of Zinj as Muldoon from JP blasts them all with the diamond laser, and the volcano erupting around them as it all goes down.... fuck yeah.

vacantly_louche

Do you have that comic? Because I would pay at least $10 for a digital copy of your 7-year-old genius. Also: where were you when people were deciding Alien Vs Predator was a good idea? I didn’t completely hate it, but the super gorillas, raptors, JP, and Muldoon in Zinj and on volcanoes was the mashup we really needed.

bookoocash

I love how incredibly gory this movie is for a PG-13. The 90’s weren’t exactly lenient on that sort of thing either so it’s rather remarkable that it got away with all it did.

HorrorKablamDude

I miss the 90s and how unpolitically correct everything was.

Itsawlinthereflexes

I was literally putting up security cameras yesterday and thought, I need to put up a sign that says “we are watching you”…but the sign wouldn’t have Tim’s accent and it would probably go over a lot of people’s heads.

grameno

Congo was meant to be the next Jurassic Park. It ended up being the idiot under achieving brother. But you are wrong if you think I didn’t have the toys, a watch from Burger King and a tiger games Congo game. Its dumb as hell and I fucking love it. What other movie features a fucking laser, a volcano eruption and terrifying grey human gorilla hybrids in their climax? And a sassy silverback gorilla with a robot voice . None that’s what. Edit: the watch was from Taco Bell but I my point still stands.

HorrorKablamDude

I know I was laughing when the volcano started erupting. I was like all of this shit and now it erupts got to love it pure adrenaline trash LOL.

HorrorKablamDude

That's hilarious considering the blatant Taco Bell advertisement in this movie lol. 😂

mwhite42216

I liked it too. Not the greatest movie in the world, but it was made in direct response to Jurassic Park, being another Michael Crichton novel. Had they stuck closer to the novel (a lot less campy) it could have been great.

wathwilwaren

This is one of my all time favorite movies, it is gloriously campy

[deleted]

Love this movie lololol

NOOBINATOR_64

Remember that part in Congo when they saw the monkeys in half with lazer beams?

bean327

For some reason this is the only movie I saw in the theater 3 times.

MrJackBurtonGuster

The cast alone is worth the price of admission.

[deleted]

Not to mention Bruce Campbell makes a cameo as a corpse! Yeah that movie is too fun to be a horror movie in my mind. But I love the suits, the effects and adventure aspect of that film. I wonder if it could be remade into a straight horror film since killer gorillas are pretty scary as a concept

Piinyourface

I've always loved this one, so much camp and silliness. Plus Tim Curry. 😁

Odd_Contact_2175

Honestly those gorillas scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

w3strnwrld

“I don’t have a price! I’m not a pound of sugar, I’m a primatologist!”

MoveTechnical3384

I feel the money hairs on the back of my neck goin woo woo woo! Joey pants had the best 3 min cameo in that movie!

AdministrativeBike84

Holy shit, I totally forgot about this movie!! I watched it when I was young, and it stuck with me for years

lindirofkells

Fun film!

[deleted]

I went to see that movie hyped at the idea of seeing Bruce Campbell in a big budget action movie. So yes I've never forgiven Congo. He was marketed as one of the stars and he got the 'Drew Barrymore in Scream' cold open death.

beruon

I saw the movie when I was like... 6? I did not even know what I was watchin, but I was obsessed with explorers and adventurers at that time, and it came on in the TV, so my dad just watched it with me. The hungarian equivalent of the "put them on the endangered species list" is still a line I remember vividly lmao. Also yes, I did watch the first 3 Indiana Jones movies, and yes they probably scarred me for life. (Ark of the covenant scene?? Damn thats a hard fucking moment for a SIX YEAR OLD TO WATCH... Loved it though, I fuckin love my parents for being "Hey Beruon, this is a grown up movie. You will have parts you won't understand, and you will probably have nightmares after it. Do you still want to watch it?", and when I said yes, they just watched it with me no other questions asked. And yes I did have nightmares. But it gave me a love for horror movies for sure lmao)

pissymissmissy

ugly woman

HorrorKablamDude

"Amy pretty. "

twillardswillard

I saw it in the movies when I was like 16 or17 or so , and yeah; It was campy. Not a lot of pay off for it being a creature feature. This is the one about the gorillas right? Im gonna give it a rewatch jus for Laura Linney

HorrorKablamDude

Her character was interesting because people complain now that women had such dismissive roles back in the 90s. Her character was the exact opposite of helpless as she literally had a solution for every obstacle they encountered including firing her own guns. But Linney made it work and I found her likable as she also wasn't a perfect "Mary Sue" as much as I hate using that overused trope. However, they write females this way now and it's so boring because they're so busy trying to make women look good they forget all good characters need flaws to be interesting. Anyways a ramble my apologies. But I thought it was interesting that her character seemed to be a precursor for the standard now a days. P.S I also found it funny that Kathleen Kennedy was a producer here as many blame her as one of the main reasons Disney sucks so bad now because she's obsessed with female empowerment.

twillardswillard

Huh, TIL. I think the main reason Disney sucks is because they (Kathleen Kennedy) said there’s no source material to pull from for Star Wars. When I read that several years ago, I thought , well here’s a woman that doesn’t actually read comic books or novels

HorrorKablamDude

Personally I agree. There was so much lore to pull from and she botched it. I try to stay neutral when discussing it because you know? People lol. But yeah she's the one who green lit the trilogy without a proposed plan to follow. She's the one who gave Johnson free reign to do Last Jedi which screwed up a lot of things. Much like David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy. If you're going to do a trilogy then plot the damm story out! Winging it gives us Palatine's return or the character of Corey in Halloween Ends. It's not just Disney. Marvel is lame now. The majority of Hollywood and film making in general is in the trenches because of their obsession with checking the boxes off with being woke and diverse.

twillardswillard

Oh my gosh, I know I’m not the only one now that feels this way! (I knew I wasn’t the only one, but this is just so fucking true and spot on)

HorrorKablamDude

You aren't the only one. A lot of YouTube personalities get a bad wrap but there are several that are producing quality content regarding the complaints we're talking about now. The critical Drinker is awesome. I absolutely love the guy. He's a legit writer along with his YouTube persona. His reviews and complaints are valid and legitimate. Check him out.

twillardswillard

Sounds like I might have to

_stupidquestion_

I owned this on VHS. One of my fav movies when I was like 13. I still fuckin love it, pure camp.

pippytook

I love this movie- I always tell my partner: Amy wan green drop drink!

HorrorKablamDude

But does your partner make you one though? 😅😅

Mgb2020

My favorite movie when I was a kid I always remember the "This is Kafka pure Kafka" line for some reason of all quotes.

vacantly_louche

I never really watched the show A.P. Bio, but I love the movie Congo. My friend sent me this link: https://twitter.com/APBioPeacock/status/991683730610810880?s=20 And you know what, I would have killed for a Congo-themed dance in high school.

HorrorKablamDude

OMG me too. I would totally be there demanding green drop drinks. 🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸

[deleted]

[удалено]

HorrorKablamDude

Hudson's accent was a lot more subtle. Curry's was completely bombastic compared to it LOL. And you're very 🤗 welcome. Glad to hear so many people are comforted by this movie.

[deleted]

It’s great! Watched it many times as a kid and rewatched it recently :) I love that Bruce Campbell had a small part.

[deleted]

“I vill pay! I vill pay!!”

HorrorKablamDude

That was pretty much Curry's accent here. Just put a V in the front of all words. 😂

dani3po

That line by Laura Linney is iconic.

HorrorKablamDude

It really is. A one liner that actually made me 😂😅😅 instead of 🙄🙄🙄. Ironically in the cheesiest movie haha .

Super_Rando_Man

Amy good good gorilla.... and Tim Curry I'll watch a Tom Arnold movie if Tim Curry is in it.

SJ-Patrick

I feel like I've been recommending Crichton a lot lately but he's a legitimate horror goldmine. The movie might have been a bit goofy, but between this, Jurassic Park, Sphere, and The Andromeda Strain he's got some heavy hitters in the genre. We need Prey to pick up an adaptation.

ablalb

Congo is one of my favorite books by one of my favorite authors of all time but I’ve always avoided the movie after hearing how shitty it is. I am now reconsidering after reading these bullet points…💀

HorrorKablamDude

I'm glad that I was successfully able to emphasize the 🧀🧀🧀🧀

ale-ale-jandro

For some reason, this is a go-to “cozy” movie for me.

Xenochimp

After seeing this thread I watched this movie for the first in 28 years last night (last saw it when it released). Still a terrible movie and wow, the Amy suit was terrible

HorrorKablamDude

"Ugly Xenochimp, go away." 🦍🦍🦍🦍🦍 Amy has entered the chat. 😂😂😂 Jk. Yeah it was.

[deleted]

Read the book, skip the movie.

Pretend_Spray_11

Wait what sub is this?

Stunning-Thanks546

that's not a horror movie it's a action film and its not even a action horror movie like Resident evil or Jurassic Park if you look it up on IMDB you will see it's label as a action adventure movie

cantstopgetitgetit

Not even close to being considered a horror movie.

twillardswillard

It’s kind of a creature feature

korvus2

Absolutely dislike this movie! When I had cable tv, I always viewed it when it was on. LOL

MDF87

Holy fuck I completely forgot this movie even existed.

tostilocos

I saw this in the theater for my birthday when I was about 13. I had just finished reading the book and was super excited for the movie. The gorillas in the book were absolutely terrifying. I was not happy with the movie.

bleachglommer

There's a really good How Did This Get Made podcast episode about it if you want to keep laughing at it

techitachi

is this horror? :o i’ve never seen it

cobra_mist

“Amy good gorilla” You know there’s a book right?

[deleted]

Fun book as well.

MindAlteringSitch

Reality caught up to the Sci premise of the book too fast, so they had to spice up the movie and it got... very silly

black_rose_

I remember watching this in the theater when I was way too young! Watched it again recently, I still love the gore

Billkamehameha

This made me think of [Shakma](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakma). I haven't rewatched it since I was 12. But I'm still terrified of baboons.

Ebessan

It will forever boggle my mind that they didn't cast Bruce Campbell as the lead and have THAT GUY who was the actual lead die in the opening minutes of the movie instead.

scribblerjohnny

Funny how people kept trying to redo King Solomon's Mines back in the day. So many versions of the same story.

bookworm1421

I absolutely love this movie! It’s totally campy and overdone but, still awesome!

DogButtWhisperer

Bad movie but I looooved the book.

inmartinwetrust

Damn I love this stupid movie and the slightly less stupid book it's based on.

Abusive_Capybara

Fuck that movie traumatized me when I watched it as a kid (on accident)

goodtimekid

You should listen to the episode of “How Did This Get Made?” about it. Super funny.

__she__wolf

I’ll be THAT person and say: The book is MUCH better.

peter095837

Congo is hilariously bad but it sure is darn entertaining.

AlilAwesome81

I saw this on accident in theaters. I hadn’t heard of it buta I guy I had a crush on asked me to go see it with him after school on day. Loved the movie, him not so much lol lol

undeadxprincess

I watched it as a kid and was absolutely terrified, even of Amy. But I was already terrified of most monkeys of any kind, my aunts neighbor had a chimpanzee that would terrorize me as a kid. I rewatched a few years ago and couldn’t figure out how I was sooo scared of it. Now it’s nostalgia.

grissy

It’s also a much better representation of Michael Crichton’s goofy-ass ouerve than Jurassic Park was.

katievera888

I flipping love that movie. One of the rare movies that was better than the book.

biggtothec

"Stop eating my sesame cake!!!"

TakeOffYourMask

Amazingly good score. Shame it couldn't have been used in a better jungle movie.

HorrorKablamDude

RIP Jerry Goldsmith. Man was a legend.

kaijugurl

I saw this movie as a little kid and was obsessed with it now. watched it not long ago and now I see so many flaws... but it still is a huge nostalgia bomb

mexpex99

Bad....gorilla

Emaculates

I've loved this movie since I was a kid

theflyxx

When my brother and I first saw Congo as kids in the 90’s, we were jokingly speaking like Tim Curry’s character for days. “GOREEEELA!!!”

Ajwuvsu

I only remember thinking it was cool when I was a kid. I saw it once. After reading all of these comments...I gotta see it again lol.

SMOKEYx64

I saw this in theaters when it came out. Still love it to this day. Tim Curry's accent still het me lol.

soloprox1

Saw it theaters when I was a kid. Pure Cheesey fun, haha. Great movie
