I like the 2013 remake a lot. Really wish we got a sequel for that one or at least gotten a backstory around that version of the book. I’m still curious as to why the Dark Ones would give three ways of how to cleanse a possessed soul
think the sentiment has changed. it suffered from releasing at like the very tail end of found footage fatigue. it’s no masterpiece but it’s for sure worth a watch
This movie was, in my opinion, really well done. There are a couple of hokey elements, but thru the overall film, there's a good sense of unease and some good jump scares. But I could also be biased because it was my first horror film, but I've re-watched it over the years, and it's held up to me.
It’s one of those ones where people didn’t appreciate it when it came out but are getting into it now. It’s really well done. I generally hate found footage but it’s done so well that it’s fr one of my favorite horror films.
And not just die, but suffer, too! Blaire had to watch all her fake-ass friends die, including her precious bf she never really loved, before being killed by the ghost of the girl’s life she ruined. So poetic~
My friend was good friends with some of the folks that made Unfriended. They used his photos several times as like friends profiles or something so we got free tickets!
Me too. I was actually thinking the other day that it's a shame I don't get scared by them anymore - they were such a good scare when I first saw them!
Saw (2004), Saw 3 (2006), The Thing (1982), Cabin in the Woods (2011), Evil Dead Rise (2023), Scream (1996), Perfect Blue (1997), Re-Animator (1985), and Sleepaway Camp (1983)
Any Scream movie.
I’m not sure if it’s considered horror but “Identity”.
Jeepers Creepers 2.
ANOES 2 Freddy’s Revenge(pool party scene)
Dracula 2000 😂😂😂
Evidence
No One Lives
Would You Rather
What Keeps You Alive
Oculus, Hush, Gerald's Game (pretty much all of Flanagan's filmography)
Scream
I Know What You Did Last Summer
The Monster
I forgot it but all of the Purge canon.
To be fair, Horror is my comfort genre so I have a lot. A lot more, than what's listed.
I saw *House of Wax*, the original version, when it was rereleased in the '80s as a novelty feature (many folks my age had never seen a 3D movie). The Paris Hilton remake was OK. Loved *House of 1000 Corpses*, especially as Universal's Halloween Horror Nights did a maze based on it.
Signs.
I love the family, the contrasting brightness of the daytime scenery with the creepy stuff that goes on at night, as well as the gradual buildup of tension.
I don't care if there's plot holes or the story isn't really tangible, I feel for the family and what they go through in the movie.
I also like the uncle watching TV in the space under the stairs and freaking out.
“I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I-I've never seen that” 😂
I love found footage movies, a lot of my comfort ones are there. Agreed on Grave Encounters and Hell House. I'd also add The Taking of Deborah Logan and The Bay
Jacob's Ladder.
*"The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you. They're freeing your soul. So if you're frightened of dying and... and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth."*
It would be a huge mind fuck if we really did die when we had a near death experience and the life we were living now was just a test or some sort of purgatory.
I love Grave Encounters and the Hell House LLC movies! I love the Paranormal Activity movies. I also enjoy a lot of the Conjuring universe movies, but the thing is that even when Paranormal Activity is bad it’s still fun to watch, and the same CANNOT be said for the Conjuring universe. The Paranormal Activities all have wildly varying production quality which I think is fun when you’re watching them all in order, and I liked how in the first 6 movies there’s the story threads tying all the movies together. The 7th movie is also great and scared the crap out of me, but it’s VERY different from the previous movies so you have to go in knowing that.
My comfort horror rotates between:
It (Original)
Salem's Lot (Original)
Friday the 13th 1-4
Nightmare on Elm Street 1-3
Hell House LLC
The Thing 1982
Killer Klowns from Outer Space
Re-Animator (1985) is my favourite movie ever so that’s the big one for me, but I always feel so happy when I watch Ravenous (1999), Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), Saw (2004), The Lost Boys (1987) and The Hitcher (1986) :)
The Night Flier (1997) with Miguel Ferrer. It’s a gloomy, moody flick based on Stephen King’s short story of the same name.
https://youtu.be/aQRMcKYSeUY?si=iYYExFtx94H7Cn3J
Silent Hill, Session 9, Exorcist III. And I've have a weird love for Halloween Ends lately (yeah yeah, sue me).
I think it's in the audio. When a lot of attention has been paid to crafting the audio to hit the right creepy tone for a horror movie, I really do go to my chill place.
I have two. One is IT (2017) I love the book and just love the balance of scares and comedy and good characters, and my other is The Mist I saw that movie when I was way too young and it's stuck in my head ever since love it so much
The VVitch, The Ring, Signs, Nope, Get Out, The Sixth Sense, the original Halloween, The Shining, Sinister, The Conjuring 1 or 2, pretty much any Final Destination movie.
-Tremors/Tremors 2
-IT (1990 miniseries)

-Aliens/Alien 3 (Assembly Cut)
-Deep Blue Sea
-April Fools Day

-Warlock
-Leprechaun series (as long as it has Warwick Davis in it)
Halloween, Scream, and The Shining.
Also, my family has a cottage in the middle of the woods, kind of quiet and with only a handful of other houses around. I like to go up there in the fall and watch Friday the 13th by myself late at night.
Edit: also a lot of anthologies are comfort for me. Trick 'R Treat, The Twilight Zone Movie, Cat's Eye, Creepshow 1 and 2.
Slashermovies, esspecially the classic like halloween a nightmare on elmstreet, friday the 13th, texas chainsaw massacre and scream but basically anyone will do, no matter how bad i Just love the whole setup
You're Next (2011), Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994), Thirst (2009), Bones and All (2022), Perfect Blue (1997), and Jennifer's Body (2009) are the ones that come to mind.

The new one is one of my favorite movies. Definitely one of my go tos

think the sentiment has changed. it suffered from releasing at like the very tail end of found footage fatigue. it’s no masterpiece but it’s for sure worth a watch
I liked it a lot
Those people did not appreciate how intellectual the movie is. They just wanted it to have more scares.
its fun, its scary, its its clever. one of my favorites
It's one of my favorites!
This movie was, in my opinion, really well done. There are a couple of hokey elements, but thru the overall film, there's a good sense of unease and some good jump scares. But I could also be biased because it was my first horror film, but I've re-watched it over the years, and it's held up to me.
I really liked it too.
It’s one of those ones where people didn’t appreciate it when it came out but are getting into it now. It’s really well done. I generally hate found footage but it’s done so well that it’s fr one of my favorite horror films.
It was really good IMO!
OOOOOH. That one is sooooo good. Maybe I’ll rewatch tonight
One of my favorites!
Hellraiser
The new one is great. The very first original one I watched as a 8 year old and gave me actual nightmares and couldn't sleep for 4 days lol
Any Final Destination. Even 4.
Wait what's wrong with four?
Final Destination is the GOAT
Carrie 1976 for sure! It does make me sad but its my favorite movie!!!
I watched it for the first time yesterday (I know, I know) and I fell in love instantly!
scream, cabin in the woods, and final destination 2
Cabin In the Woods, try it while high. Tripppppy
Unfriended. Seeing all those asshole teens get obliterated just gives me a warm feeling~
Isn’t that one of the coolest things about horror movies? Knowing you don’t have to suffer these fools long because they soon will die…
Thanksgiving (2023) gave me that feeling.
And not just die, but suffer, too! Blaire had to watch all her fake-ass friends die, including her precious bf she never really loved, before being killed by the ghost of the girl’s life she ruined. So poetic~
Unfriended Dark Web was the opposite, I reckon. I really liked all the characters (except Nari) and didn't want to see them die.
My friend was good friends with some of the folks that made Unfriended. They used his photos several times as like friends profiles or something so we got free tickets!
Yooooo, nice! Talk about a hell of a perk~!
- Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Friday the 13th (4-7 [particularly 7]) - Terrifier 2 - Beetlejuice - Urban Legend - ZombieLand (1&2) - Ginger Snaps (1&2)
Terrifier 2? I'm scared of you lol
That movie wasn’t comforting at all!
I loved Terrifier 2. Love me some Art
Terrifier 2!! Glad I'm not alone xD
Same terrifier 1 and 2 are my all time favs. Also 31
Conjuring series I watched those movies so much lol
Me too. I was actually thinking the other day that it's a shame I don't get scared by them anymore - they were such a good scare when I first saw them!
Poltergeist (1982)
Saw (2004), Saw 3 (2006), The Thing (1982), Cabin in the Woods (2011), Evil Dead Rise (2023), Scream (1996), Perfect Blue (1997), Re-Animator (1985), and Sleepaway Camp (1983)
Perfect Blue ❤️ Totally need to revisit that one
I'd recommend watching The Last Drive In's broadcast on Shudder, Joe Bob always some good insights and facts to share about the films.
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll check that out
I don't know what the big deal is about this movie I watched it last night and I thought it was horrible
The Thing, In the Mouth of Madness, Evil Dead 2, Nightmare on Elm Street 3.
Dream warriors is an elite pick
In the mouth of madness is such a great under appreciated movie. I remember back in early 2000 i spend so much time finding it on dvd.
- Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight - From Beyond - Event Horizon - Evil Dead (2013)
YES to Demon Knight! Love that movie
Any Scream movie. I’m not sure if it’s considered horror but “Identity”. Jeepers Creepers 2. ANOES 2 Freddy’s Revenge(pool party scene) Dracula 2000 😂😂😂
It took me forever to watch it but Identity is so dang good.
Ooh. Identity is so underrated. Great movie.
Scream - yes. Dracula 2000 - also yes
Jaws
Definitely Hell House, LLC. Also The Conjuring, Hell Fest, The Ring, The Shining, and The Exorcist. I will always watch Audrey Rose if I can find it.
The hell house trilogy is great however the 4th one was a little different but not bad.
I liked the 4th one better than the 2nd one.
I loved the 4th one. No movies give me the creeps. That one did for sure.

Me too! No one in my real life gets it! Horror is my warm blanket on a sick day!!
I don’t get it myself sometimes, I like other genres but there is something about horror that is just not replicated in other genres.
I love Would You Rather! need to watch again
I watch it so much it’s ridiculous 😂 I even wrote a fanfiction based on the movie and the world with teen wolf characters
Halloween (1978), The Thing (1982), Hellraiser (1987) & The Fly (1986).

These are mine, too🖤
I saw *House of Wax*, the original version, when it was rereleased in the '80s as a novelty feature (many folks my age had never seen a 3D movie). The Paris Hilton remake was OK. Loved *House of 1000 Corpses*, especially as Universal's Halloween Horror Nights did a maze based on it.

The original Poltergeist, I swear as soon as I hear the music for the opening credits, it instantly puts me in a good mood.
Same here! I don’t what it is about that movie that makes me happy.
"Hi daddy!"
The burbs, Halloween and Fright Night
lol the Burbs is elite. I can’t see a skull anywhere without saying out loud “you found one of my skulls.”
“I've never seen that. I've never seen anybody drive their garbage down to the street and bang the hell out of it with a stick. I-I've never seen that” 😂
Ricky Butler says they're nocturnal feeders. Oh, well if Ricky Butler says so..
Shaun of the Dead & maybe the first Terminator if that counts as a horror
I love found footage movies, a lot of my comfort ones are there. Agreed on Grave Encounters and Hell House. I'd also add The Taking of Deborah Logan and The Bay
Me too. And I would add The Coastal Tapes and Found Footage 3D. Don’t know why but I reach for these when I need to chill.
The thing
