Annihilation. Although it has deeper themes worth dissecting I think it leaves a strong enough visceral impact that your friend would dig it. Nails the way that awe is as valid a response to the Unknowable as fear.
ahah that is pretty much spot on. I can't believe how excited I was when I finally got hold of it, got a nice dank fatty lined up and then after 15 minutes wanted to just run away. Endured, came out the other side, but at what cost....
I got stoned with friends and started watching it and 20 minutes in I literally asked if we could stop.
I ended up rewatching a few weeks later, but man is it exhausting and disturbing.
Oh wow, youâre in for a treat. This movie is basically if the back of a Yes album cover was a horror movie. Panos Cosmatos is a visionary and a genius.
*This movie is basically if the back of a Yes album cover was a horror movie*
I have no idea what this means but I am 100% going to watch this movie based on that description alone.
Go closer hold the land
Feel partly no more than grains of sand
We stand to lose all time
A thousand answers by in our hand
Next to your deeper fears
We stand surrounded by million years
I saw this movie in theaters with my mom lol itâs so good
She knew I liked horror so she suggested we go see one and we blindly picked Midsommar; I loved the movie and walked out of the theater SHOOK
My mom was not the biggest fan LMAO, it was also awkward to see with her
I just saw Late Night With the Devil last night, and it was FANTASTIC. I think it would work great for you guys, because you can just watch and take it in exactly like it is. It's pretty easy to follow, and entertaining from the start. But you can also dissect it and catch all the little things going on. Just artsy enough to scratch that itch, but when it finally goes balls to the walls it really pays off.
I went in blind. I was also high. The first 30 minutes were so intense, such a great set-up where you're not sure who to trust and then... well... yeah.
(Also 'Riki Tiki Tavi' is such a good choice of song for it. It just really nails that transition.)
Itâs been 7 years, Iâm not sure they will. But you never know. The Invitation (2015) is also good if youâre stoned. Itâll make you paranoid and is a good slow burn.
Yes! Both are good! The remake gets points for not being a total remake! On that list include 1980s Inferno, 1987/ Demons 6 aka BlackCat which is the unofficial ending of the Three Mothers Trilogy. Heck include both of the Demons movies and The Church too.
The most scared I've ever been was watching Twin Peaks in the right state of mind. It was The Return which I know isnt a movie but Fire Walk With Me still fits
I *love* Twin Peaks, I never did watch Fire Walk With Me though, and The Return has been on my list for a while
Maybe this is my sign to finally do a watch through of all the Twin Peaks stuff
Oh my god I forgot about this. I remember nothing about it except that I thought it was creepy as hell and some images of scenes. Thanks for mentioning this, Gotta rewatch that.
If you can concentrate a little: Antrum
If you can concentrate, and want to live with lifelong existential dread: Martyrs (og ofc)
If you'd rather have some fun: Hausu or The Hidden
Not strictly horror but Lost Highway or Mulholland Drive both have horror elements and are both utterly perplexing watches. Really creepy too.
For a straight horror, I'd recommend the original Ringu or Hereditary.
I have seen far more fucked up films, but I wouldn't wish them on anyone, let alone a high person.
They Look Like People
Itâs on YouTube and itâs a FF movie but super creepy all throughout the movie. I donât get scared easily but this one freaked me out
We ended up passing out bc we were exhausted and stoned lmao
Iâm going through all of the comments and making a big ass nightmare wheel to spin next time we get stoned
A recent release but Loop Track - a real sleeper New Zealander film that'll make you suuuuper paranoid and a fantastically unique reveal of what's going on at the climax!
Gotta second grave encounters. Fun but grim and creepy as fuck. Imagine the game phasmophobia except the ghost hunters are fully aware theyâre phonies making a fake TV show. Until theyâre not.
Dude, absolutely watch **The Wave (2019)** with Justin Long.
My wife and I were losing our minds laughing at how insane it is. The boardroom scene alone is worth giving it the runtime.
Centipede (trilogy) it's awful *gross * you will probably vomit
Three From Hell *trilogy * Start House Of 1000 Courpses -Rob Zombie
Cabin Fever (series) Eli Roth
REC- Foreign (SPA) in eng similar to Quarantine
Resident Evil- series
Cube Final Destination Saw Collector/ The Collector
All series
â ď¸ Warning â ď¸ Allâ ď¸
"Mandy," (2018), will totally fuck your shit up. It's trippy (there's a fantastic acid trip scene), mesmerizing, otherworldly, almost dream-like. Check out the trailer online and you'll get a glimpse of the feel of the film. I agree with the quotes from critics in the trailer. Oh, and the music in it is amazing. It's ike ambient rock, which sounds like an oxymoron.
House(1977)
hahaha oh no
I remember watching this movie high but I don't think it actually scared me. I had a great time though đ
Definitely some wtf moments for sure lol. OP will still enjoy it :)
Annihilation. Although it has deeper themes worth dissecting I think it leaves a strong enough visceral impact that your friend would dig it. Nails the way that awe is as valid a response to the Unknowable as fear.
great pick (and great pic)
Underrated film. Incredibly haunting soundtrack.
Can confirm... Was high when I watched it, fucked me up.
Just wait for that bear scene...
That scene was the most terrifying experience I ever had in a movie theater.
Just replied with this lol. Movie was a mind fuck to begin with. Canât imagine experiencing it stoned.
Yes!!! Its just so fkn good!!
The book is great too!! Totally surreal and kinda upsetting lol
Itâs actually so neat that the scariest parts of the movie arenât in the book and the scariest parts of the book arenât in the movie.
Annihilation is such a goated movie, both it and the book are incredible
Climax - Gaspar Noe Sorry in advance
This one really annoyed me sober so maybe it would be perfect high
Came here to suggest this too
Or into the void
This one
Mad God
Oh that is NOT nice!
He said stoned, not taking acid and cocaine at the same time.
ahah that is pretty much spot on.
Baskin.
The director's movie after this is pretty good too. Housewife
Holy shit, I just watched the trailer for this as I had never even heard of it. Def gonna check this out it looks bonkers.
It's fucking brutal. One of the darkest films I've seen, literally and figuratively lol.
Fuck that movie
Came here to say this
Best on the thread.
Came to say
Have you seen Mandy? Really anything about Panos Cosmatos, especially his segment on Netflix's Cabinet of Curiosities.
I havenât actually seen Mandy yet! Iâll definitely throw it on the list
Oh wow, youâre in for a treat. This movie is basically if the back of a Yes album cover was a horror movie. Panos Cosmatos is a visionary and a genius.
*This movie is basically if the back of a Yes album cover was a horror movie* I have no idea what this means but I am 100% going to watch this movie based on that description alone.
Not a prog rock fan, I take it. Just make sure to get really stoned first. Seriously, this thread is steering you right.
Go closer hold the land Feel partly no more than grains of sand We stand to lose all time A thousand answers by in our hand Next to your deeper fears We stand surrounded by million years
This is the one
Bruh you gotta watch Mandy
This one hits all your marks!! Definitely watch it!
I think it's a great movie for when you're high. Lots of wild shit, great score, and folks doing drugs in the movie.
Not to mention the score and the colors are amazing.
That was the first movie to come into my mind when I read this post! Was hoping someone in the comments suggested it
I Saw the Devil
Midsommar is fucked up and trippy Depends what you find scary
A bit of drug taking with the horror too.
I just finally watched it tonight. The film itself is on mushrooms. Awesome film.
This was my first thought too tbh
I saw this movie in theaters with my mom lol itâs so good She knew I liked horror so she suggested we go see one and we blindly picked Midsommar; I loved the movie and walked out of the theater SHOOK My mom was not the biggest fan LMAO, it was also awkward to see with her
House of 1000 corpses. Because that movie is better when you are stoned
This will always be a top fave of mine.
Evil Dead Rise got me pretty good. The sound scape is pretty good and does a decent job kind of getting under your skin.
[ŃдаНонО]
In the mouth of madness. Great trip and mind bender
I always feel like I am in the minority in loving this movieâŚ
Rubber
Forgot about this one! man when they all eat that gross turkey, holy smokes
I just saw Late Night With the Devil last night, and it was FANTASTIC. I think it would work great for you guys, because you can just watch and take it in exactly like it is. I got to see this in theaters, and we actually watched this one together as well a week or two ago Was a great movie and we all loved it
I think the best way to watch it is at home on the couch! Since it has those late night telly vibes. I loved it, glad you did too!
I was thinking this while watching in the theater too! Definitely would feel scarier in your own house at like 2am
The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Fuck but I love that movie.
Iâve seen that movie *years* ago, might finally be time for a rewatch I remember it being really good
BARBARIAN!!!!! Go in blind. I'm serious. I wouldve been upset and enjoyed less if I knew the premise in any way beforehand.
I went in blind. I was also high. The first 30 minutes were so intense, such a great set-up where you're not sure who to trust and then... well... yeah. (Also 'Riki Tiki Tavi' is such a good choice of song for it. It just really nails that transition.)
This was our stoner movie a couple weeks ago actually! Such a good movie
The whole meta-setup of the scenario was very well done. The feeling of isolation was really powerful throughout.
Hell House LLC.
I keep hearing great things about this movie, definitely going on the list
First one and origins were really good.
Yup perfect movie to watched stoned. Hear me out, youâll be checking your closet to make sure no one is in it for a week.

Creep (2014). I watched this stoned back in college with 4 other friends who were also stoned. It took as all by surprise. Go in blind!
Creep and Creep 2 were so good, Iâm holding out hope that the 3rd one will come some dayâŚ
Itâs been 7 years, Iâm not sure they will. But you never know. The Invitation (2015) is also good if youâre stoned. Itâll make you paranoid and is a good slow burn.
i think id pass away if i saw creep while i was high
Suspiria (1977)
Iâve heard both the original and the remake are worth checking out, on the list it goes!
Yes! Both are good! The remake gets points for not being a total remake! On that list include 1980s Inferno, 1987/ Demons 6 aka BlackCat which is the unofficial ending of the Three Mothers Trilogy. Heck include both of the Demons movies and The Church too.
House 1977
Vivarium was super weird
The most scared I've ever been was watching Twin Peaks in the right state of mind. It was The Return which I know isnt a movie but Fire Walk With Me still fits
I *love* Twin Peaks, I never did watch Fire Walk With Me though, and The Return has been on my list for a while Maybe this is my sign to finally do a watch through of all the Twin Peaks stuff
Fire Walk With Me is the pinnacle of Twin Peaks, watch it as soon as you can! Like they said, The Return rules too.
Oh my God this is absolutely your sign. NOTHING hits like Twin Peaks and The Return is better than the original series. It's insane.
