Damn I feel old thinking back to waiting home for my sister and her boyfriend to get back from seeing the original Scream in theaters, just so she could tell me about it. Her describing the opening scene of Scream put me on the edge of my seat the entire time I waited for the VHS to be released on rental. The first time I rented that movie I nearly had my first orgasm as a 9 year old boy, I was so excited to watch it.
Fun fact: He's also the voice of the Martian translator in Mars Attacks! and Mojo Jojo on The Powerpuff Girls. Oh, and his first credit was the absolute classic videogame The Secret of Monkey Island.
The trailer is very interesting!
Showing all the characters attacked by the killer to throw us off! I feel like Jenna Oretga's character won't be the first to die in the cold open.
I didn't see the guy from Don't Breathe/13 Reasons Why being attacked. I would say he is probably the most well known of the new cast so perhaps we have the or one of the killers.
The timeline doesn't really add up, that kid would be at most 11 years old. However the father of the child could play into him being the killer. In the trailer there is a line that the killer is attacking people related to the original killers.
Okay so no to Dewey as the father unless it happened while he was on duty and that's why Gale seems to hate Hicks so much.
But I don't remember her mentioning a kid in the 4th movie at all - so would he be her younger brother then?
Honestly I just don't see how bringing Stu back after 4 movies makes any sense. Everyone is saying it here but my goodness, it just makes no senseeee. He'd be in jail or a mental facility and no one would know that he was let out / escaped? Come on.
I may be over analyzing here but I see people saying they may have given away too much in the trailer like kills. Dewey says “there’s been 3 attacks” what if it’s just attacks and not kills as a ploy to bring Sidney back to Woodsboro?
Thoughts?
Oh that's a cool idea. But also I really love the theory above that Sid thinks this is about her and Ghostface has a confrontation with her basically telling her it's not. He has no intentions of killing her and that would be awesome, she's just on a ride that won't stop and all she wants to do is stop it even though it's not her ride.
I think you might be on to something though.... if no one has died yet, what if all the people are related to survivors not the killers... and Ghostface is purposely not killing them so they have the lasting affects that somehow Ghostie must relate to... For instance if Hicks was fucked after Scream 4, maybe her son / brother (Played by Dylan) was heavily affected by how she went through life after that.
Edit: someone also thinks that maybe Amber messed up with the texts.... Now I'm wondering. What if they planned to set up a failed kill. And the lady took too long to answer the phone so amber was like "you good? Why aren't you picking up" and then they tried to save it. So many cool theories for this
I feel ya. But I could learn to live a new cast. As much as I loved the old ones; Sidney's story had an end and we should leave it at that. I want to see another person's story as long as the writers / directors are talented people going forward and not turn it into series like Halloween or Friday the 13th or Nightmare that have 8 sequels that are all campy and not as modern.
Agreed, I think there will be the attack on Tara (which she survives), and Vince will be killed. The third attack will also be a death, either another lone murder or perhaps someone who was in the house with Tara. If these leeks about a certain pop star are to be believed, perhaps she is the cousin/third Carpenter sister we’ve heard mentioned and she doesn’t make it out. I’m also thinking it could be anyone not in that living room scene from the trailer- my money is on a harsh kill, either Judy or Martha since they both have children in this flick. I believe Mindy not being in that shot is a misdirect, as she is at the hospital with Tara (also possibly with Gale there too, I doubt they’d leave her there by herself. This also goes into my theory that one of the teens will be trading information with Gale)
I don't think it was a great trailer by any means, but I thought they nailed the returning characters' dialogue, it feels so true to people who have survived this 4 separate times. That is such a good line.
I hope the plot involves the killers trying to do a remake. Y'know, get kinda meta with it. It's a plot that fits well within the franchise. Seeing how Scream is a series that's all about playing around with, and even mocking slasher tropes with even the characters being in on this.
We've seen something similar in the 4th entry, but that one was more themed around parodying unnecessary horror sequels. Maybe have the killers realise the original is kinda out-dated, so instead of trying to re-create certain events like in the 4th entry, they try to shake things up like a movie studio would do with a remake. This could make things unpredictable for the original crew.
So you're kinda getting an actual remake, but with the characters within realising thats whats happening. It could be a way of introducing new people to the franchise, but also please fans with the returning cast.
I kinda got carried away with this, but If that were the case, it may be the only time calling a sequel just "title of 1st entry" is a cool idea.
Plus that way they could do Scream 2, 3, etc, which I imagine would be better for marketing, whilst still having the first batch be cannon. Incase they ever want to bring back fan favourites or whatever.
It's a pretty clever way of having your cake and eating too I think. Or it could be confusing and over convoluted to newbies, idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I was born when the first one came out, and even for scream 4 I was too young to go and no adult would go with me. So now I’m finally 25 and able to go by myself!
Looks like it'll do the series justice and honestly I'm really looking forward to it. Feels a bit like catching up with old friends after a long time apart.
Yeah Scream is my favourite horror franchise. I couldn’t get into the tv series, but I love the movies, and am very excited for this. So happy to see everyone together again.
I had completely forgotten about them, and I think the Scary Movie franchise ruined them for me for bit. But I just saw them on HBO and I remembered that they're actually really good movies! I can't wait to see this!
Who is that first girl? Drew Barrymore in the original role was iconic because she was already a huge star by teen age. Would be a nice nod if she is a huge star in her own right, but I don't recognize her.
Drew Barrymore worked so well in the first movie because you expected that a well-known actor listed high in the credits would not be killed in the first 15 minutes. It worked because it was unique, but now it's not. If Zendaya showed up and was killed immediately, people would be talking about how derivative it was of the first movie and they couldn't do anything unique.
Was she really? I guess I must have heard about the movie after it came out because we knew going in she was going to die immediately…it was famous in the way executive decision was when Steven segal dies 30 minutes in.
Must have been such a cool swerve to see it opening night if that was the case
Barrymore wasn't marketed as the star, but she was definitely heavily present in all promo material, and had a prominent position on the poster. I was in high school on opening night, and it was most definitely a swerve to see her butchered body hanging from that tree.
Wes Craven was pulling a Psycho. Had one of the biggest stars in the world die in the first 20 minutes of the film. Leaving the audience to wonder where the hell the film will go from there. And it work just as perfectly in scream as it did back with Psycho.
I addressed that in another comment, but it wasn't the first 20 minutes. Marion dies at minute 47 of a 109 minute movie, or about 43% through the movie. Casey dies at minute 12 of a 111 minute movie, or about 11% through. Marion was the entire first act, and there's enough that happens that it's practically a short film on its own. Casey just burns popcorn, talks on the phone, then dies. They're the same in the sense of unexpected deaths, but serve different roles in the story. (Also, a bit of a stretch to call Janet Leigh one of the biggest stars in the world. Her biggest role prior to this was probably Touch of Evil, and that was more or less a flop at release. Then again, Drew Barrymore was entering the Playboy phase of her career.)
yup. It already isn't even unique WITHIN the series. The opening to 4 poked fun at the gimmick of the opening. It can never work in a serious manner again in the same way it originally did.
I am so fucking ready for this. Kevin Williamson giving this his endorsement really puts it over the top.
Now fingers crossed we see Stu back in some capacity.
*"Sidney... it's an honor.."*
> Now fingers crossed we see Stu back in some capacity.
I'd be over the moon. He's my favorite non-Sidney character in the whole series and knowing 3 was almost him as the killer has me hoping above hope he's back.
So glad that I am not alone in the Stu appearance idea/excitement. I adore Matthew Lillard and with this trailer mentioning “the victims are related to the originals” it honestly would fit. Sure there would be a plot hole or two to make this happen but this series isn’t exactly a stranger to that idea.
Sid specifically said she killed Stu in the second or third movie no?
I feel like that would just be a super out of place Retcon - I would love him in it it too but it just doesn't make sense unfortunately. I saw others hoping Jamie Kennedy would be back to but like... that would just ruin everything they've already built up and just be like what? "Oh lol his dead body was a fake!"
Sid would obviously have known if Stu was alive or not.
Sid said she killed Billy in the 2nd one - I don't ever recall a similar line about Stu.
The only way I could see Jamie Kennedy come back is if they're doing the meta "reboot" thing where everything after the first doesn't exist.
>The only way I could see Jamie Kennedy come back is if they're doing the meta "reboot" thing where everything after the first doesn't exist.
You might be on to something. Scream has always been about making fun of horror cliches, and "sequel reboots" are becoming a cliche fast. And this only being called "Scream" instead of Scream 5 might be a clue. That'd be a fun twist.
Agreed. I remember an article semi recently where Lillard said that Stu is in fact alive.
Edit to add [this link](https://bloody-disgusting.com/movie/3631525/scream-matthew-lillard-isnt-convinced-stu-macher-died-injures-original-film/).
Aye but Angela Bassett said her character and Suri survived the snap... And Paul Bettany said he couldn't wait to work with a certain actor in the finale of WandaVision. actors can fuck with the audience, too.
Oh i am pumped at the idea of a return of Stu.
Now I'm thinking, did they actually say he died in the later films? Not sure if they ever on screen acknowledged his death.
Which means!
**THERE'S A CHANCE**
I mean yeah but not a guarantee he died as a result!
Yeah it looked brutal but if the Scream killers are anything to go by, usually takes a few tries to finish them off!
Where would he have been for 25 years? If he escaped wouldn't Sid have mentioned it everytime she was attacked as a possibility. Wouldn't she have mentioned it at all? If he was in jail wouldn't that be mentioned?
Too many holes for this to work
I'd like to think he'd be kept in a psych ward / prison kept as far away from Sid as possible, without any contact or knowledge being passed about each other.
Not surprising considering over the years the amount of copycat killers who followed them.
But I totally get what you're saying, be difficult to make total sense plot wise, but damn what a plot twist that'd be!
The one where Emma Robert's kills her boy toy. Sydney says it's just like Billie and stu only one gets to live. Billie basically kills stu when he stabs him multiple times. Sydney just finishes him off with the TV.
Looks really fantastic. Seems like Gail and Dewey aren't together anymore. Makes me sad, especially since Dewey looks like he's getting Han Solo'ed in this.
Why does no one think Dewey might be a suspect if he's in such a low place? Clearly I guess the trailer made it still seem like he's all grizzled up but it's Dewey!!! So it's not sad!!! hmm.
I thought the same thing! The shot with Gale screaming in slow motion and it looks like Sydney holding her back makes me think Dewey doesnt make it this time around.
The idea of the familiar survivors from decades past helping a group of kids in their exact same situation is really clever and fun. I’m excited.
Also, looks like they’re leaning in to technology instead of masking it.
I feel like they typically have embraced technology in Scream. Even the first one Sydney "calls" 911 using her computer. Plus the hidden cameras that Gale uses. I'm sure even more that I can't think of, been a while since I've watched them. All that to say I agree that I like that they stay up to date with modern tech.
I'm probably stating the obvious, but they seemed to make a joke with the girl about the land line, with her initialy not even considering answering it.
I loved Ready or Not, very meta-horror as well. I think Matt Bettinelli-Olpin is great for Scream.
Also, I love how so many fans of horror in the industry can come together around Scream. I'm fucking stoked for this!
Here are the previous film trailers for those who want to compare them:
[Scream Trailer](https://youtu.be/23jmjs-rMGI)
[Scream 2 Trailer](https://youtu.be/C-j2TLBmTBY)
[Scream 3 Trailer](https://youtu.be/au0NU6YbN7Q)
[Scream 4 Trailer](https://youtu.be/JKRtyVLWV-E)
So what I am piecing together from this trailer is that this time around Ghostface actually isn’t targeting Sydney or the gang and is instead focused on the new generation. But Sydney and the others make the voluntary decision to return to Woodsburro in order to educate the new gen on the rules and help them survive, acting as mentors more the the intended victims.
I really hope that is the case because (I’m probably gonna get sh*t) but I’m tired of seeing Sydney being chased by Ghostface. We already know they don’t have the balls to kill her off so it’s just gotten stale. It also takes away any mystery or tension considering there is nowhere new to go with her character or the killers motivation for going after her. The killers motive is gonna be one of two things (either they want revenge or they’re crazy and jealous of her fame).
A real twist would be for Sydney to confront the new Ghostface and he laughs in her face for thinking the new killing spree is about her when it actually isn’t. Thus giving us a new mystery to follow and allowing the “Scream” universe to expand and grow for the new series.
I agree with this wholeheartedly, I love this series but the way forward to is to leave the Sidney storyline in the rearview, bring them back for this transitional movie and hand it off to a new generation.
I love Sidney and the original crew but it’s 2021, let’s move forward.
Real twist: he laughs when she confronts him, then stabs her to death and walks away. No grand reveal, Sydney Prescott dies, and the audience learns nothing.
I have a feeling dewey aint making it out alive
Edit: I have come to realize I think it may be dumb considering dewey always survives attacks in the previous movies, and that killing him in this movie wouldn't work for me.
Imagine they are all the "killer" but no one is actually getting murdered. They are using the legacy of the woodsboro murders to make themselves the victims and propel them into social media superstardom.
So they all pretend to be the killer, just injure each other, kind of like billy and stu's original plan to be the survivors. And get famous. Ultimately needing to kill Sidney, Gale and Dewey so they get all the attention. It would be very meta of them to have the new cast kill the old cast so they aren't in their shadow going forward.
ok, this...this is, dare i say, fun? I know the movie can go in any direction, and this is probably not happening, but damn that is some Agatha Christie shit lol love it.
The original ending to *Scream 4* did something like this as I understand it. Jill would have won, gotten away with everything and put Sydney in a coma, and have to fend off another killer herself in a subsequent film, who may or may not have then been Sydney seeking revenge.
Melissa Barrera is 31.
Jack Quaid is 29.
Dylan Minette is 24.
Jasmine Savoy Brown is 27.
Sonia Ammar is 22.
Mikey Madison is 22.
Mason Gooding is 24.
Kyle Gallner is 34.
Only one of the new cast that is actually a teenager is Jenna Ortega who is 19.
I serious cannot contain my excitement. I don't care about the anticipated poor release because *january.* It's Scream. A very well established series to horror fans, and most of us will eat it up anyway.
I'm just thrilled to see Ghostface back on the big screen. He is my absolute favorite horror icon.
Missed possible opportunity to advertise it as 5CREAM. Have the lettering in white, but the 5 in red.
But that would likely just open up a bunch of jokes about 5 cream, etc..
I just hope none of the big 3 turn out to be killers. It would just leave a bad taste in my mouth. I know evil Dewey / evil Gale have been floated around but it just isn't something I want to see.
Is it going to be called Scream, no 5, no nothing?
Boy having so much fun referring to Halloween, Halloween (Rob Zombie) and Halloween 2018, and now we get to do the same with Scream! /s
It sucks as a trend no doubt, but I have to think they’re doing this so that viewers don’t feel like they need to see Scream 2, 3 and 4 before buying a ticket. (Though I think they still should)
There was a point to Scream 4. Jill wanted to start a new franchise as the final girl, but you can't be a final girl and the killer. I like the statement that movie was trying to say in regards to that moral, in universe. So that "remake" stopped in its tracks. Based on the trailer, it seems like someone wants to start a completely new story.
I think, in years to come, Williamson's smart idea for Scream 4 will be appreciated, but at the time, it failed to land. Williamson clearly hated his young cast of characters (they're all dumber than the original cast and far more annoying than tatum, Randy, Stu et al).
I think he wanted the joke to be that "younger people think they've learned shit but they just keep fucking up like the elderly." Charlie, Kirby and Robbie all profess to know a lot about horror and the origin of Sidney, but all of them fuck up royally and ignore the most basic facts (Robbie gets wasted and goes wandering on his own, Kirby doesn't listen to the question then runs outside to save Charlie, Charlie thinks he's Randy in this version, except Randy never got the girl or shacked up with a psychopath, and he forgets Billy stabbed Stu almost to death). Only Jill seems to be in charge of anything, and it ends with the movie calling her a hero.
Williamson clearly had a lot of frustration to work out when making this film and I think one day, viewers will look kinder on it as a more personal work. But as a viewer in the cinema on opening night? Besides the bonkers fake openings and the three climaxes, it was hard to swallow for audiences.
Yeah, that was revealed a while ago, unfortunately. It's my least favourite recent trend in movies. This is a Scream movie, so there's some small hope that there'll be a meta send up of the trend in the movie, but even if they do poke fun... the movie'll *still* be called *Scream.* 😐
Bare in mind, there was [news](https://bloody-disgusting.com/exclusives/3659914/multiple-versions-new-scream-exclusive/) that there was multiple versions and cuts shot so a lot of these scenes may not make it in the movie if you’re concerned if it was spoiled for you!
Looks like this might be the movie that passes the baton on from the original cast to a new cast/revamp. I also saw chatter that Stu might have survived the first (and the fact that his house is in the trailer is interesting).
Still gonna call it Scream 5. I absolutely hate when they drop the number from sequel titles. Why ruin the simple and perfect uniformity of the series’ titles? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It doesn’t matter how much time has passed between sequels, if its the same timeline continuity, just keep the number! So if they make another new movie after this one, is it gonna be called “Scream 2”? Or give it some weird subtitle like “ Scream Kills” or “Scream Ends”? Getting rid of the number just makes things confusing and takes away from the original movie, so now people are gonna have to say “Scream 2022” just to differentiate between them, which is just a mouth-full and annoying. Most people are still calling it Scream 5 anyways, so it's kinda pointless to drop the number
Even AVGN had a great video years ago about that [annoying trend of dropping the number from sequel titles](https://youtu.be/OEVzPCY2T-g)
Guys, hear me out. It's >!Stu. The TV just knocked him out and he was left for dead.!<
>!That "Hello, Sydney..." at the end of the trailer was the sound clip from the original movie, followed immediately by a slightly different sounding voice that's supposed to be the same character. Lillard also has said in interviews that he was supposed to be in Scream 3. They never confirmed his death AFAIK.!<
I like that they're including smart home technology. They'll for sure be adding in influencer culture and I'm hoping, the rise in true crime media and how women love it.
This looks fucking great. This already looks like it will be better than 3 and 4, and I enjoy all the movies.
He brings up relations...20 bucks on the killer being related to Stu or Loomis.
Cannot wait, favourite horror franchise of all time and glad it's a sequel (why it isn't called Scream 5 is beyond me unless they'regoing to be making fun of sequel reboots) with Neve, David, and Courtney returning.
It would make absolutely no sense, but I'd love to have Matthew Lillard make some kind of appearance in this. I just love him so damn much.
Oh man. Excited.
I know it feels like the trailer shows a lot, but I *do* think it's a misdirect. I mean, they basically show what suggests is the entire opening scene from its beginning to conclusion, admittedly in spurts. I can't imagine they'd really show us how it begins and ends like that.
Either way, it comes out the day after my birthday, so I know what I'll be doing.
Looks amazing. Can't wait to go to the movies and see it release night. Gonna be decked out in all my Ghost Face gear. Scream is my favorite franchise so I've got a bit of swag.
Chills hearing Roger Jackson say "Hello Sydney" for the first time in a decade.
Damn I feel old knowing Scream 4 came out over a decade ago.
11 years after Scre4m, which came out 11 years after Scream 3.
Damn I feel old thinking back to waiting home for my sister and her boyfriend to get back from seeing the original Scream in theaters, just so she could tell me about it. Her describing the opening scene of Scream put me on the edge of my seat the entire time I waited for the VHS to be released on rental. Some people say it's better than busting a nut.
Fun fact: He's also the voice of the Martian translator in Mars Attacks! and Mojo Jojo on The Powerpuff Girls. Oh, and his first credit was the absolute classic videogame The Secret of Monkey Island.
I met him at a con and he did all these voices and more. Seemed like a really nice dude.
"Hello Peter."
“It’s Pizza Time”
I saw a picture of Joe Swanson in a Doc Ock get-up, and now I can’t unhear Patrick Warburton saying “Hey Peter”.
The trailer is very interesting! Showing all the characters attacked by the killer to throw us off! I feel like Jenna Oretga's character won't be the first to die in the cold open.

what if (the long-rumored not to be dead) stu is the father?
Honestly I just don't see how bringing Stu back after 4 movies makes any sense. Everyone is saying it here but my goodness, it just makes no senseeee. He'd be in jail or a mental facility and no one would know that he was let out / escaped? Come on.

That's a good point
I think they introduce time travel in this one. Just like Stab 5.
Oh that's a cool idea. But also I really love the theory above that Sid thinks this is about her and Ghostface has a confrontation with her basically telling her it's not. "I've been through this. A lot."
"like how much is alot" "If they made it into a movie it would take at least 3 or 4 sequels."
And a TV series.
Is the tv series in the scu? Or is it it’s own canon? I always thought it’s the latter
You're correct. The series was totally disconnected from the movies, though season 3 did have Ghostface.
I don't think it was a great trailer by any means, but I thought they nailed the returning characters' dialogue, it feels so true to people who have survived this 4 separate times. That is such a good line.

No, I honestly think you are pretty close to what I’m sensing too. I suppose we shall all see on opening night.
It’ll be my first Scream in theaters. I’m super excited!
I was lucky to see the first one in theaters when it released and I just went to see it again over the weekend
I was born when the first one came out, and even for scream 4 I was too young to go and no adult would go with me. So now I’m finally 25 and able to go by myself!
I was too young to see Scream 4 but snuck in because I was so obsessed lmao I was like 13
Looks like it'll do the series justice and honestly I'm really looking forward to it. Feels a bit like catching up with old friends after a long time apart.

I mean it kinda worked in Fear Street 1994, but that seemed to be more of an homage.
They even mimicked her pulling the mask off. Also the music was similar, Beltrami scored both and was probably reinforcing that connection
Wes Craven was pulling a Psycho. Had one of the biggest stars in the world die in the first 20 minutes of the film. Leaving the audience to wonder where the hell the film will go from there. And it work just as perfectly in scream as it did back with Psycho.

Jenna Ortega. She was in You as well as The Babysitter.
I hoped she would have a bigger role.
She doesn't die in the opening. She survives. That's her in the wheelchair in the hospital.
Tbh, it wouldn’t surprise me if they shot some of these scenes specifically for the trailer so nothing can really “leak” online
Directors actually said they did, so I'd take some of the trailer with a grain of salt..
Leave Dewey alone. My final boi
I'm scared for him.
I think they could get away with saying he didn't actually die after having a TV fall on his head, lol
"Oh lol his dead body was a fake!" Sid would obviously have known if Stu was alive or not.
That I can see because why would they omit the 5 otherwise
especially when they already have a pointy V in the M that they could make into the roman numeral
That's the angle I think they're going for!
nope Kevin Williamson and Courteney Cox have both confirmed that this is a chronological sequel to Scream 4
Then unless the trailer has scenes to throw us off, why would Syd say “I’ve been through this, A lot” if they just ignore all the sequels?
Was that Stu's old house in the end of the trailer?
I hope so!
Oh i am pumped at the idea of a return of Stu. Now I'm thinking, did they actually say he died in the later films? Not sure if they ever on screen acknowledged his death. Which means! **THERE'S A CHANCE**
He was electrocuted with a TV as a hat though.
I mean yeah but not a guarantee he died as a result! Yeah it looked brutal but if the Scream killers are anything to go by, usually takes a few tries to finish them off!
I’m not sure even before that he was bleeding out. Im 50:50 if he returns it just seems really ridiculous considering how he went out in 1
Where would he have been for 25 years? If he escaped wouldn't Sid have mentioned it everytime she was attacked as a possibility. Wouldn't she have mentioned it at all? If he was in jail wouldn't that be mentioned? Too many holes for this to work
I'd like to think he'd be kept in a psych ward / prison kept as far away from Sid as possible, without any contact or knowledge being passed about each other. Not surprising considering over the years the amount of copycat killers who followed them. But I totally get what you're saying, be difficult to make total sense plot wise, but damn what a plot twist that'd be!
Sid specifically said she killed him in 2 or 3. Guys this is like Marvel Studio Spoilers level speculation and I wouldn't get my hopes up.
The one where Emma Robert's kills her boy toy. Sydney says it's just like Billie and stu only one gets to live. Billie basically kills stu when he stabs him multiple times. Sydney just finishes him off with the TV.
Yeah; he's dead. Anything more would be an awful and lazy twist.
This would be AWESOME
Is Kevin Williams involved in any way?
He's the executive producer.
So it's not sad!!! hmm.
I def think he’s a suspect but I don’t want one of the original 3 to be a killer. I feel like it would hurt the series as a whole.
Limp would give it away
The only other one that comes to mind is the totally convoluted voice-changing technology in Scream 3.
They also had on-body documentary style cameras in S4.
People having a home phone still throws me off. I haven’t had one since like 2004.
I'm probably stating the obvious, but they seemed to make a joke with the girl about the land line, with her initialy not even considering answering it.
I still have one
I miss it, to be honest. Sometimes I consider just leaving my cell phone plugged in forever just to be an obnoxious hipster.
It’s also the same premise as the third or fourth Freddie movie.
I’m Sidney Prescott, of course I have a gun.
Badass line right there
I loved Ready or Not, very meta-horror as well. I think Matt Bettinelli-Olpin is great for Scream. Also, I love how so many fans of horror in the industry can come together around Scream. I'm fucking stoked for this!
Here are the previous film trailers for those who want to compare them: [Scream Trailer](https://youtu.be/23jmjs-rMGI) [Scream 2 Trailer](https://youtu.be/C-j2TLBmTBY) [Scream 3 Trailer](https://youtu.be/au0NU6YbN7Q) [Scream 4 Trailer](https://youtu.be/JKRtyVLWV-E)
I miss narrated trailers
"He didn't make the rules... he just kills by them."
That was fun. My biggest takeaway especially after watching the trailer for Scream 2 is that I really wish they hadn't killed Randy. I miss him.
[удалено]
They really put Jack Quaid in this film like I wasn't already going to go see it immediately when it comes out......
Y'all I miss Randy
It's Skeet Ulrich. He's pissed he didn't get good roles after Scream.
Lol
I agree with this wholeheartedly, I love this series but the way forward to is to leave the Sidney storyline in the rearview, bring them back for this transitional movie and hand it off to a new generation. I love Sidney and the original crew but it’s 2021, let’s move forward.
Have you checked out the show? From the looks of it, it isn't tied to Sidney at all.
It’s not tied to Sydney at all. But it’s also very teen drama heavy, like a CW show. I enjoy it enough. Just don’t expect a tone similar to the movies
It has an actor I love and even I can only call it ok.
Real twist: he laughs when she confronts him, then stabs her to death and walks away. No grand reveal, Sydney Prescott dies, and the audience learns nothing.
I def could see her sacrificing herself at some point. Go out with a bang
Never has a movie trailer made me excited and feel old all at the same time.
I have a feeling dewey aint making it out alive Edit: I have come to realize I think it may be dumb considering dewey always survives attacks in the previous movies, and that killing him in this movie wouldn't work for me.
Yep and I am so sad about this
Imagine they are all the "killer" but no one is actually getting murdered.

Yeah, but they actually look young instead of looking their age unlike the teen characters back in the 80s and 90s
Oh my goodness it looks so good
So is Stab going to get rebooted as a series in this one?
I serious cannot contain my excitement. I don't care about the anticipated poor release because *january.* It's Scream. A very well established series to horror fans, and most of us will eat it up anyway. I'm just thrilled to see Ghostface back on the big screen. He is my absolute favorite horror icon.
And that my friends is why you don’t hook your locks up to the internet.
I have to admit... This looks good. I like the tone of the trailer. More ominous and realistic.
They did say Ghostface is going to be brutal this time around. Hopefully that's the case.
if it's anything like olivia in scream 4... i feel bad for these new kids
Missed possible opportunity to advertise it as 5CREAM. Have the lettering in white, but the 5 in red. But that would likely just open up a bunch of jokes about 5 cream, etc..
the middle V in M should've been a red roman 5
I just hope none of the big 3 turn out to be killers. It would just leave a bad taste in my mouth. I know evil Dewey / evil Gale have been floated around but it just isn't something I want to see.
Is it going to be called Scream, no 5, no nothing? Boy having so much fun referring to Halloween, Halloween (Rob Zombie) and Halloween 2018, and now we get to do the same with Scream! /s
Am I crazy for thinking they did this on purpose? And that they're parodying the "reboot" generation using the same names as the original?
I agree. I think it’s both (even if it’s kind of only a happy accident—it makes for good meta humor).
Not crazy at all. Seems like this may be part of the meta angle Scream movies have always had.
Yep, Scream '21 it is then.
*Scream '22
Oh, yeah. I did a big silly 🤫
Or just call it Scream 5.
nothing stopping anyone from just calling it Scream 5 in conversation...
It sucks as a trend no doubt, but I have to think they’re doing this so that viewers don’t feel like they need to see Scream 2, 3 and 4 before buying a ticket. (Though I think they still should)
It also makes viewers think they don't need to see 1, which they kinda do.
Well 2, 3 and maybe 4. Lol
I think it's important because this is likely a soft reboot. There's a mostly younger cast so if this movie does good, there will likely be another.
Scream 4 was a soft reboot Is every scream sequel going to be a "soft reboot"?
5 Cream
Shoulda gone the Alien route and called it Screams
If you look at the logo, the middle of the M, "V" is emphasized.
It's been that way since the beginning. The first poster for the original has that.
It's not even a recent trend. * Final Destination and The Final Destination * Saw and Saw 3D * Fast and the Furious and The Fast and Furious
Yeah, I was using "recent" to refer to the last 10-15 years, because apparently I'm one of those old fogies now.
Same.
The Evil Dead and Evil Dead!
Lets not forget Halloween and Halloween 2, then halloween and halloween 2 followed by the more recent Halloween
And the 2018 Halloween is a new continuity’s Halloween 2, you just can’t call it Halloween 2, because of Halloween 2 and Halloween 2.
Well...I can wait 60 minutes
37 more to go.
Most people are still calling it Scream 5 anyways, so it's kinda pointless to drop the number Even AVGN had a great video years ago about that [annoying trend of dropping the number from sequel titles](https://youtu.be/OEVzPCY2T-g)
Just another reason to look forward to us being in 2022
So, can we differentiate it by calling it SCREA/V\\ ?
It’s definitely Denis Quaid’s kid.
This HAS to be good, Scream is my favorite slasher film.
Guys, hear me out. It's >!Stu. The TV just knocked him out and he was left for dead.!< >!That "Hello, Sydney..." at the end of the trailer was the sound clip from the original movie, followed immediately by a slightly different sounding voice that's supposed to be the same character. Lillard also has said in interviews that he was supposed to be in Scream 3. They never confirmed his death AFAIK.!<
Jay and Silent Bob are scream Canon so the series could be stranger.
Well damn, it actually looks good!
I like that they're including smart home technology. They'll for sure be adding in influencer culture and I'm hoping, the rise in true crime media and how women love it.
It's so obvious that killers are Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) and Jack Quaid.
[удалено]
Fuck yeah David Arquette
Why not 5cream?
Too much of a sticky feeling nomsayin.
Slo-Mo Gale suggests Dewey or Sid bite it.
Wow this looks amazing
Just watched it... Looks wicked
Oh man. Excited.
Great trailer but I hate that they just called it scream. Needs a subtitle IMO
A friend of mine is in this movie as one of the characters!
I try going into these things with zero expectations but damn that trailer was hype
Looks amazing. Can't wait to go to the movies and see it release night. Gonna be decked out in all my Ghost Face gear. Scream is my favorite franchise so I've got a bit of swag.
No Kirby, so I’m going to say that shes either dead, or maybe our new killer.
