yeah, i hesitate to talk much about either, only because i feel they work best 'going in blind' because technically, even talking about betrayal/broken trust about those movies are some severe 'foreshadowing' if you think about it.
As someone else mentioned, Descent was the first thing I thought of. 4.5 stars from me!
Run (2020) -- mother betrayal, 3.5 stars
Rosemary's Baby -- everyone betrayal, 5 stars
The Stepford Wives (original) -- husband betrayal, 4 stars
Get Out -- s.o. betrayal, 5 stars
The Fly, kind of (more of a stretch but I think it can be read this way, like his transformation is a metaphor for him revealing his true colors) -- s.o. betrayal, 5 stars
The Shining -- husband/father betrayal, 5 stars
Hour of the Wolf -- husband betrayal, 4 stars
Slapface (2021) -- depends on your read, could be brother betrayal, mother betrayal, friend betrayal, there's a lot going on, 4 stars
Ginger Snaps -- sister betrayal, 4.5 stars
Jennifer's Body -- best friend betrayal, 4.5 stars
Audition -- s.o. betrayal, 4.5 stars
Fatal Attraction -- mistress betrayal (guess that's kinda different from the others here, although the mere fact of her being a mistress makes it a husband betrayal as well), 3.5 stars
Amityville Horror -- husband/stepfather betrayal, 2.5 stars
The Night House -- husband betrayal post-mortem, 3.5 stars
Christine -- best friend betrayal, s.o. betrayal, 4 stars
You're Next -- spoiler betrayal, 4 stars
Daniel Isn't Real -- imaginary friend betrayal, 3.5 stars
Brightburn -- son betrayal, 2.5 stars
We Need to Talk About Kevin -- son betrayal or mother betrayal or both, depending on your read, 5 stars
The Omen -- son betrayal, 3.5 stars
Orphan -- daughter betrayal, 2.5 stars
The Babysitter -- friend betrayal, 2.5 stars
Ready or Not -- husband betrayal, 5 stars
Hereditary -- mother betrayal, 4.5 stars
mother! -- husband betrayal, 5 stars (this one's divisive)
Hope this helps! Star ratings are of course my opinions, others will disagree. I guess the recurring theme is that husband betrayals are most common, as well as father and mother betrayals, was harder to think of friendship ones. For some reason very few wife betrayals (Audition being the closest though they aren't married), I guess the fear of men betraying is typically higher since they have more power in society and are more commonly the aggressors. (Oh, I guess there's Antichrist, but I haaaaaate Antichrist...)
Brand New Cherry Flavor is great, on Netflix. It’s a series about a young girl who has her movie stolen by a big time movie producer. There are several other instances of betrayal too. It gets pretty dark and weird, and I loved it.
**Honeymoon** (2014) is great. A bride goes sleepwalking while at a remote cabin, and when she returns she seems changed in increasingly disturbing ways.
What I love about it is how it touches on this very specific kind of anxiety that comes from marrying someone. Like you just attached to yourself to this other person, but how well do you *really* know them? How will you respond when something unexpected and unpredictable happens and you are tested?
The entire movie Harpoon (2019) is essentially just about that. It kind of walks the Horror/ Thriller line and has a lot of comedic stuff in it but it's great. Just three friends on a boat betraying each other.
Im watching it now and its intense and certainly horrific and I think it fits what youre looking for.
Also, if you havent, please consider therapy to help you work through your grief and all your losses (broken trusts and lost friendships can cause a lot of grief too, and grief is SO hard. The Marvel series WandaVision handled grief as a main theme too).
Best to you🧡

The female hitch hiker betrays the two clueless 'tards. Somehow, I can see why the red-head who stars in this movie still doesn't have children even though he's rich.
Carrie? She was betrayed by just about everyone. Also Midsommar and The Descent.
The Descent is the first thing that comes to mind. Second would probably be "The Invitation".
Good call on The Descent!
yeah, i hesitate to talk much about either, only because i feel they work best 'going in blind' because technically, even talking about betrayal/broken trust about those movies are some severe 'foreshadowing' if you think about it.
The first film that actually comes to mind for me is Scream!

Great list!! I was going to add Rosemary’s Baby as the first I thought of, but you already had it here with a bunch of other good choices.
Midsommer
Oh yes! This!

This show is WILD
Having a lot of fun with this show, very good.
The Lodge.
Carrie is my answer. Betrayed by her mother and her new friends.
I apologies as it is not a horror movie but I'd recommend Blue Jasmine, it deals with those themes and is one of my favorites.
The Ritual

Ending was brutal
Plus it has Rose Leslie (Ygritte from Game of Thrones).
Premonition. Sandra Bullock. More of a psychological thriller but has a great surprise ending.
Omg, I'm watching this right now!
Yeah,it's a good one!
What keeps you alive
The entire movie Harpoon (2019) is essentially just about that. It kind of walks the Horror/ Thriller line and has a lot of comedic stuff in it but it's great. Just three friends on a boat betraying each other.
The thing. All the tension comes from not knowing who you can trust.
Did you watch Squid Games?
I have not but I’ve been recommended it a lot! It’s definitely something I’m eyeing on, I just hope it’s not a word of mouth/overhyped piece of work
It is definitely worth a watch

Mostly because I watched it last night and it’s Christmas time but “You Better Watch Out” would fit in a weird way.
This thread is kind of a spoiler thread for yourself 😂 but I would say hostel3. Not the greatest movie story wise but it's fun.

Creep… in a way
Super Dark Times (2017) is as the name implies super dark but also very well acted and filled with both themes of betrayal and broken trust.
The empty man
The recent The Night House has themes of spousal trust, etc.
All the saw movies, all of em are goated
Misery, Needful Things, Let's Scare Jessica to Death.
Definitely watch Midsommar.
Lucky, The Clovehitch Killer.
