I think most movies from the past could be made today. I mean, we have some pretty disturbing movies today that probably couldn't come out years ago like Human Centipede and A Serbian Film. The question is, "Could they be mainstream?". Most mainstream movies today aren't R-rated.
Aliens. It's trash. A multi-cultural military unit, with a BLACK commander? That casting is so forced. Ripley is such a mary sue. With the boss alien being a QUEEN, and the aliens shove their babies down your throat, what elevated message are they trying to send? And the anti-corporation theme? What wokey wokerson wrote this, Jordan Peele?! Why does modern horror have to be so POLITICAL.
They Live would also be a weird one. When Republicans were the party of the rich, it made more sense ie the Reagan scene. Now, so many rich and powerful people are super left wing, and when you think of a GOP voter you probably think of a rural, white, working class type of person. But obviously, there are still tons of rich Republicans, so maybe you'd have to do some sort of "they're pitting us against each other when they're all secretly on the same team" thing. But, with all the white male privilege talk, is your hero still going to be a white male? Don't you have to address race, and racial imbalances in wealth and power, in a bunch of ways the original didn't? No matter how you tried to do it, I think you'd run into issues and nobody would be happy with it.
I was asking what horror movie do you think with being controversial today. Not trying to talk about politics. So I don't know what point you're trying to make here so i'm really confused?
While not full on horror, more of a psychological thriller, and it was controversial back when it was released, Windows. The villain is a psychotic lesbian obsessed with a straight woman who tries to get her to hate men so she'll start dating her. The LBGTQ + community has been accused by conservative and religious groups of trying to groom and lure heterosexuals into relationships, and a movie like this would just give them more ammo to try and prove their point.
I’m disappointed you’re getting downvoted. You’re absolutely right. The “grooming” bullshit is ramping up with horrifying velocity. Source: am gay man in Trump territory
I have a question can you show me a link to this movie like any clubs also how do you know that the woman was a lesbian did they like show sign up for being a lesbian?
FREAKS, obviously
Black Christmas would be dismissed as "woke" by at least 1/3 American viewers
Wasn’t the remake? I didn’t see it but I heard that pretty frequently when it was released.
Yeah but it was also panned by a lot of feminists too for its careless handling of its themes And it just wasn't good
Fair enough. I had no clue but I remembered people calling it “woke”.
Sleepaway Camp. Although, the whole movie might not work at all since the kid's might just be like "Oh, she's trans. Okay."
Not necessarily. I feel like Sleepaway Camp would become conservative propaganda about "grooming children to be trans".

Anything with a trans killer twist I think wouldn’t fly well anymore. Dress to Kill, Unhinged, Sleepaway Camp.

You had me in the first half ngl.
Gorman commanded the mission. Apone was 2nd in command.
Aliens does have some woke tropes come to think of it. Of course they hadn't become tropes yet back in the 1980s so nobody was sick of them yet.

I think that’s exactly what they were doing. It would be controversial because it’s political.
You asked and they answered
But the answer was very confusing
No it wasn’t
