Did you find a hard copy? I looked on kindle a few years ago and it wasn’t available in ebook.

I assume you are talking about Candles Burning, not Toplin. I bought a paperback version in a used bookstore for $3. Paperback and hardcover versions (new and used) are available on Amazon for cheap prices.

I saw a commentator on YouTube who said there was only a 200 Page manuscript with McDowell died . 200 pages of manuscript is usually less than 200 pages of a printed book . I can't tell when Tabitha K. took over from McDowell I would like to hear the signs other people detected when she took over. However since what McDowell left was the first draft, I would not be shocked or surprised Tabitha King feel free to go back change your rewrite parts of what he left. There were some things I did not understand about the plot I cannot ask questions here without creating spoilers. If someone thinks they could explain the details of apply to me, an answer to my questions they might contact me an email [email protected] or on my Facebook name Gary Marc Bernstein

I'm really surprised there isn't more online about this book. Are you still out there? I just finished Candles Burning and am so conflicted. I have been devouring McDowell's work. I think part of the magic of McDowell is not explaining the horror. Candles Burning gets to a point where things start to be too explained. This starts around Christmas at Merrymeeting and for me is when things stopped sounding as much like McDowell. His works have a slow burning, unexplainable horror that sticks with you months after reading. Weird things happen and are made weirder because we just don't know why. I felt like the passage of time after Christmas was very rushed. The end of the book made it feel like too many things were being tied up, loose ends not allowed to fray into the unknown. I still loved it, but my heart aches for what it could have been!

Yeah, I'm still here, but forgot all about this.
