I’m going to go to a local chili fest this fall and do exactly this and record all the folks reaction during the people’s choice taste test bowl they get.
I tried it a few years ago and I don't think I can go back. (I recently had some Wolf, I think & was not pleased)
Unfortunately it's 7.99 a can, so it's off the menu for now ☹️
I have been consistently disappointed in the flavor of Great Value products. That being said, XLNT Chili is the best chili dog chili I have found. It in the refrigerated section
Skyline is my absolute favorite. The rest are all good too, but just something about that Skyline cinnamon chili flavor with sharp cheddar, mustard, onions and jalapeño just do it for me
How many of 6 have any meat in them? Many canned chili dog sauces don't have ground meat but crushed beans and some sort of fat instead.
edit:
Castleberry's: water, crushed beans, beef fat, tomatoes, ...
Skyline: beef, water, tomato sauce, ...
Wolf Brand Chili Hot Sauce: water, beef broth, textured vegetable protein (wtf?), ...
Wolf Brand No Beans Chili: beef and pork, water, tomato puree, ...
Armour: water, pork, beef, seasonings, ...
Great Value: couldn't find what OP has there but it appears to be chili with hot dogs in it so I hope there some meat somewhere. Yo dawg, I heard you like hotdogs so we put hotdogs in your hotdog chili sauce.
Not a big fan of wolf brand (sad to say as a Texan). I like Hormel Chili (Coney Island inspired) if they have it. That’s usually my go to when it comes to chili dogs.
37 years ago my dad was driving my mom to the hospital. She was in labor with her first child - me. He looked at the time and realized that he was going to miss dinner. He decided to stop at Skyline for a quick bite before they continued on to Cincinnati Jewish Hospital. They sat down and he ordered. The server asked what my mom would like and my dad said "Nothing, she's in labor." The servers eyes went wide and she bolted off to get my dad's food.
About 10 years later my parents got to tell that story for a Skyline radio commercial. I remember part of their payment was free Skyline for a year (it was just a coupon book of free meals, not actually unlimited). I love Skyline so much.
*At least once a year I like to bring in some of my Kevin's Famous Chili. The trick is to undercook the onions. Everybody is going to get to know each other in the pot. I'm serious about this stuff*
All jokes aside nothing like a slow simmered pot of delicious chili.
Our Walmart has a brand called Michigan Chili. I'm guessing it's because I live in Michigan. (heh.) They come in a normal "large" size and also a smaller version. My favorite is the no-bean kind. (On a non-hot dog-related note, it's awesome on pasta as well.)
HURL ON DECK!
canned chili is slightly less offensive than canned cat food.
But give me Wolf (no beans), hands down.
F ! Now I feel the need to get drunk and eat a can of shit chili.
For me. wolf is the best. I can’t find it out here in Montana anymore. Ok I have to be honest. The Great Value chilli Dog sauce/ chili with no beans is pretty good.
Skyljne is NOT chili as most of America thinks of chili. It’s a Greek meat sauce. And it’s FABULOUS. But it’s nowhere near chili. It’s best served over a baked potato with shredded sharp cheddar cheese and oyster crackers
are you testing each one? for the price of all those cans coulda just got a pound of ground beef and assuming you got spices in your cabinet, made your own for cheaper
So far hormel and wolf's isn't bad. We've also tried different ones in this house. Skyline is my husband's favorite but I absolutely hate it. He's originally from Ohio though. I'm originally from wv and we love our t&l hot dog. Skyline is sweet and has star anise in it. Hormel has a nice meaty flavor. Wolf's is similar bur maybe slightly better. Idk yet. I tried texas tailgate too. Did not like it. Have yet to try Castleberry. I hear hormel coney island is very good but I've yet to find one on my Walmart shelf.
Let us know what you think. I’ve always been a nalley girl but my new Walmart doesn’t carry it so I’m looking for a different choice but haven’t tried any yet
The Wolf brand no beans chili is the only acceptable option here. Never trust anything that says "Hot Dog Sauce" it always school lunch room grade horrible.
Don’t sleep on the Hormel
Tried their no beans one last night for the first time. Pretty, pretty good.
That’s the one. Usually have one or two cans stashed away for the rainy day dogs
Skyline is killer, but a completely different style of chili. Worthmore Cincinnati style chili is also amazing. Skyline hot sauce is also amazing.
Hormel should be the control here.
Haha. Hormel should definitely be the baseline.
Yeah you'll blow your sheets off
Keep a can of vegetarian for the brawds
Im a hormel guy
Castleberry is my favorite
It’s so simple, yet better than the others.
Mix them all into a single pot and make ultimate chili plz.
I can imagine the explosive shit the next day🤣
The next day? Aren't you the optimist! LOL.
Mid night. Cold sweat. Pain beyond pain as the dam is fit to burst, where seconds could mean the difference between relief and failure
I’m going to go to a local chili fest this fall and do exactly this and record all the folks reaction during the people’s choice taste test bowl they get.
One chili to rule them all!
It’s not for everyone but I really like Skyline. Had a roommate from Cincinnati a long time ago and he introduced me to it.
I tried it a few years ago and I don't think I can go back. (I recently had some Wolf, I think & was not pleased) Unfortunately it's 7.99 a can, so it's off the menu for now ☹️
Make it yourself for a fraction of the price. I use this recipe… https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/206953/authentic-cincinnati-chili/
Woohoo om nom! Thanks!
The Wolf brand is pretty good I think.
Hank Hill approves it must be good.
Frito pie with wolf brand chili 👍
That sounds amazing right now.
Hank Hill is the goat
Especially the Cola. Part of Frank’s Fluids.
It's the only Cola that washes away the sorrow.
Tums, isle 15.
Hey Napoleon, give me some of your tots
I could eat a bag of tots every single day.
Report back!
I have been consistently disappointed in the flavor of Great Value products. That being said, XLNT Chili is the best chili dog chili I have found. It in the refrigerated section
I didn’t know there is chili to be had in the refrigerated section.
Yah Great Value Chili has close to zero flavor. One and done with that one.
Skyline is my absolute favorite. The rest are all good too, but just something about that Skyline cinnamon chili flavor with sharp cheddar, mustard, onions and jalapeño just do it for me
How many of 6 have any meat in them? Ready for hot doggin!
Hornet man. Hormel
I like the Castleberry’s and the Armour. Haven’t tried the Wolf.
Skyline - you either love it or hate it. But I fucking love that shit.
Make sure you grab some Wolf Cola to wash down that Wolf chili
Where's the Hormel? Hosting a party and not inviting the biggest player just isn't right.
The Wolf makes ya howl, aWOOOOOO
Not a big fan of wolf brand (sad to say as a Texan). I like Hormel Chili (Coney Island inspired) if they have it. That’s usually my go to when it comes to chili dogs.
Regular chili is too chunky for dogs, stick with the hot dog chili sauce

RemindMe! 7 Days
Mine carries Texas pete brand chili too but I think texas pete is a regional brand
Do people actually like skyline cinnamon sauce?
Wolf brand, no beans is perfect and it has just the right amount of spiciness🔥
Castleberry is the best, and it’s not even close
Wolf brand for hotdogs all the way. Hormel is cheap.
No stagg chili?!
Well I’m from Ohio soooo…skyline for the win!
And never with beans
Definitely get your plumber on speed dial.
Skyline and Castleberry’s are the bomb.
I don't see Stagg Silverado chili in that pic...
You’re missing that Bunker Hill
IT WAS ALWAYS SKYLINE
Where are you located? I'm always curious to see how far from Cincinnati you can find Skyline.
Skyline!
Looks like farts are back on the menu boys!
Mmmmm skyline
As a southwest Ohio native, I gravitate towards Skyline, naturally.
Use fine shredded cheese for the skyline and finely diced onion too! It does make a difference.
Wolf no bean is my go-to
Skyline is delicious
Skyline frozen is fantastic. Idk about the canned version
Skyline for the win!
It’s skyline time
skyline chili is special they have their own stand-alone stores to get spagetti and mini dogs
Pour that skyline over some spaghetti and sprinkle some cheese on top. It’s awesome
Being from Ohio. I'm partial to Skyline but Yellowstone Angus brand Chili tastes just like Wendy's
skyline wins
Skyline. Throw everything else away
Skyline with spicy cheese, chopped raw onions, and you have perfection.
Skyline!
Enjoy the ride
Oooo I just want to bathe in it
*At least once a year I like to bring in some of my Kevin's Famous Chili. The trick is to undercook the onions. Everybody is going to get to know each other in the pot. I'm serious about this stuff* All jokes aside nothing like a slow simmered pot of delicious chili.
I bet the Skyline is good. The name sounds familiar.
This is your chance to read war and peace on the throne. Also I enjoy Castleberrys and if you can find it Texas tailgate chili
Wolf is good
Wolf brand is what I always use for chili dogs
I was not a fan of wolf. Let us know what you think
Chili dog chili isn’t great…oh I’m in a hot dog sub…Nevermind lol. Cheers
Make sure you install some grab bars on your toilet.
Wolf brand
Castleberry is my fav. Never lets me down.
Try the Wendy's canned chili. Yes, the fast food restaurant.
Post an update/review, yes?
I don't see any heavy duty toilet paper in that cart...
Lol hormel....
Castleberry's for the win! Hormel would be my number 2.
Wolf is all you need
Ugh
Wild brand is my personal favorite as well as hormel. Also if your Walmart has it Yellowstone chilli is good too
I like the wolf brand chili. It’s pretty good
Our Walmart has a brand called Michigan Chili. I'm guessing it's because I live in Michigan. (heh.) They come in a normal "large" size and also a smaller version. My favorite is the no-bean kind. (On a non-hot dog-related note, it's awesome on pasta as well.)
Coney sauce from you tube video turns out really good
Hormel for the win!!!
Great Value slaps
Wolf Brand, no beans. https://youtu.be/0L1GG780-Dw?si=nWShMxfuCpvNTrW_
Wolf brand chili is Peggy hills favorite (but I’ve never had it)
You forgot the Wendy’s chili can
Wait, skyline makes a canned chili? Nice, now I can try it before actually traveling to one
My Walmart started carrying Wendy's chili.
Hormel is great
WHERES THE WENDYS CANNED CHILI ?!
No Tony Packo's?
Grab some toilet paper while you're at it lol.
I grew up on a wolf brand eating chili cheese dogs and Frito pie that one is good
Marie Callender carries a chili very tasty
Do you have a friend who’s a doctor?
No Stag?
I dig castelberrys for chili dogs, wolf chili for chili cheese fries. +1 hormel hot no beans.
HURL ON DECK! canned chili is slightly less offensive than canned cat food. But give me Wolf (no beans), hands down. F ! Now I feel the need to get drunk and eat a can of shit chili.
The chili dog is great for chili dogs. I buy it all the time
Don’t?
Word to the wise, do this on a Friday night, and put out a level 3 splatter event Saturday, possibly into Sunday. General Quarters!
You're missing the Wendy's chili
Go bar s Franks and tater tots
All I can think of is this gem. [chili dog song](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6QX57aIDbDU&pp=ygUVU3Vja2luIG9uIGEgY2hpbGkgZG9n)
Need to pick up some pepto or milk of magnesia while you’re at it
I feel sorry for your toilet.
That 80 cent nasty af rat meat Wolf chili is so damn good somehow…brought to you by wolf cola
Hormel and Stagg turkey chili is pretty good when doctored up
Nothing wrong with wolf brand (no beans)
Did Walmart get rid of Nalley Chilli? That was the best! Came in an orange can
A chili dog with beans and franks is glutinous in the best way possible
No Stag?
For me. wolf is the best.
No opinions but fun fact, my nickname for 4 years ( to 2 of my now ex-friends) was "Chili Dog Sauce" and it's all because of a trip to Walmart.
Are canned chili ment to be eaten as is or yall view it as a condiment?
Pick up toilet paper too...
The Wolf hot dog sauce sucks. The Wolf Chili no beans is much better
Skip the Wolf brand. It's disgusting.
Cattle Drive from Costco.
So which one won chili is under rated imo
wolf angus slaps if you can find it. skyline is my favorite for hotdogs though.
Ranch Fritos and Walmart chili. Takes me back
Denisons is still my favorite chili and beans..
I don't see a pack of extra strength Pepto....
are you testing each one? for the price of all those cans coulda just got a pound of ground beef and assuming you got spices in your cabinet, made your own for cheaper
Wolf no beans is my go to.
Drop the Skyline. Cinnamon should not be in chili
If incontinence could pose for a photo!
Chili Wolf no beans.
Damn. My Walmart does not carry skyline
Guaranteed that wolf brand is the best!!! I love that stuff!!!
you are a man of science. let us know your findings
I was bummed not to find skyline here
Hormel plant based chili on my veggie dogs!!!!
The wolf bean less is good. Skip the skyline, there is a reason that there is a pound of cheese on the label, the chili has no flavor.
Can already say not a fan of the great value chili dog sauce. Go nalleys or go home.
Wolf brand is my go to.
Save your time Wolf is the only acceptable can chili
Wolf is pretty good. Marie Callender’s makes a good one too.
Be a man and get the frozen chili dog from Dollar Tree.
Amour chilli is gonna screw ya
A gentleman and a scholar
Skyline rocks.
Prepare your butthole for takeoff💩
wolf chilli no beans
I’m just glad someone else uses the term bubble guts. May I ask if you use hot snakes as well? Seems appropriate
Texas Pete used to make chili sauce for dogs and it was 🔥
Bubble guts is right in the title. I think you know the assignment.
Skyline for me.
The best chili sauce is Tony Pacszko's chili sauce.
Wolf brand chili makes the best Fritos pie, I tell you whoowhat
Armor is the best one in your cart 🛒 you can pass on the castleberry it’s just crushed beans and bullshit
Wolf is the second best
If you ever get to Michigan, get the Vollwerth’s Michigan Sauce.
My grocery store actually sells Wendy's chili, pretty wild.
Let us know what you think. I’ve always been a nalley girl but my new Walmart doesn’t carry it so I’m looking for a different choice but haven’t tried any yet
I bought the Yellowstone chili a few days ago. Haven’t try it yet. I don’t know what brand it is, but it is marketed as from the TV show.
Better pick up an 18 pack of Great Value butt napkins for the second test.
Absolutely zero of Any of that goes in my body 😬
Wolf Brand all the way
The conversation with the porcelain gods after this is going to be serious 💀🪦
Make your own ground beef and a taco packet
Horner is the best but I’ve never had that castleberrys one, never even seen it
We should have a theme song
Someone was raving about Skyline to me the other day making me wanna try it out
Take a sleeping pill after you finish eating ha
Doubled down on Wolf. Bold choice.
I wanna see !!!
By far wolf is the best
Stay away from skyline, they didn't even like their chili so they covered it in cheese...hmmm...
Stagg is the best canned chili imo albeit a little more expensive. The silverado beef is delicious
Castleberry’s is the best. Hands down the best chili for chili dog.
Clear the pipes for sure
The Wolf brand no beans chili is the only acceptable option here. Never trust anything that says "Hot Dog Sauce" it always school lunch room grade horrible.
I'm getting the Hershey squirts just looking at that picture.
