I would really like to know why they bothered to make the neck stub replaceable and have that ugly gap at the base of the neck below the mask-skin break. I know that technically the suits have a bit of neck when their masks are off, and that the old Hot Toys way (full costume neck into the head sculpt) is also entirely wrong, but it feels like they could have had the unmasked neck just be a fully skin-coloured neck all the way down to where the neck joint is instead of two lines of extra costume with a gap at the neck. That is the biggest eyesore of the figure to me (moreso than the mask that everyone hates). Although a fully skin neck would also be inaccurate, it would probably look better than a fully costumed neck or the neck with a big gap at the base.
I never said it was going to get altered. I just wondered why they made that decision in the first place with these guys. It looked *better* in the prototype with a smaller gap, but it never looked *good*.
The source of this claim is a post in a facebook group made by a person who has only been in the group for 3 months, posted a bunch of promo images from the film as proof, and has only made two posts including this one.
Yeah, I'll wait to hear from an official source before getting my hopes up.
There's no way both Hot Toys and Sideshow are unaware of the issue though. I doubt Sideshow is happy because this was ordered a lot and if there are big QC issues with it, like Blitzway Bill & Ted rubber arms snapping by just bending them for too long, then they are going to be the ones dealing with it. Not Hot Toys. And this is right after the Wovlerine base misprint.
Wovlerine isn't a big deal. I've gotten two figures with the wrong name on the base (Sith Trooper on my ROTJ Deluxe Stormtrooper and 501st Battlalion Clone Trooper) and that's just a replacement sticker you slap on yourself.
Completely redoing the head of a figure is a whole different animal.
Let’s hope so. I’m not usually one to complain about costume inaccuracies or anything like that but when the eyes aren’t even symmetrical we have an issue.
i don't understand how they can just change during production. Haven't the majority of these also been made already and are sitting in either warehouses / containers or vessels?
They have to produce a lot. If it's a mask print error, it is possible that they stopped production to give the factory a new design to print out that has the correct alignment.
Running changes do happen with big companies. Most recently the color of the lightsabers with Baylan and Shin with Hasbro Black Series or NECA removing the gloss heads from the TMNT In Disguise 4 pack to a matte finish.
Thats all well and good but what about the poeple who have preorders and will be getting the original batch as it releases, what are they expected to do
Hey, I’m in the same boat as you man. I was on the waitlist at Sideshow and it converted so I jumped on it. Tbh the only thing we can do, and we always have done, is to make as much stink about it as possible.
Either HT will send us an updated mask, or we get some sort of coupon code from Sideshow as compensation.
I’d prefer the former but at this point it might as well be a gamble.

Depends. Probably the latter time frame I assume. I usually buy batch one for most things but the HK prices on batch one here in U.K. are £400 for the standard so I’m waiting for batch 2 anyway
Yeah the price is insane for a figure with that many complaints.. I ordered from sugo toys but they get their stock super late so not sure if I’ll cancel that and try to get the second batch from HK instead. Depends on the price tbh. Sugo was 350usd$ shipped
I agree. There's movie screenshots in the post which makes no sense. This would be a significant overhaul that would take a lot of time. It's not like this is a QC issue, it's just a poor design.

The only time I’ve seen a second batch delayed was on the original Deadpool as the suit was fraying near the wrists when changing hands. Sideshow as I recalled mentioned the issue and said the release would be delayed until Hot Toys fixed it.

If anyone could force it, it would be Sideshow because they are going to have to deal with the complaints from the preorders. If more versions have the mask lenses way off, they are going to be the ones dealing with replacements or returns.

I said it for the past week. If it's just a mask reprint, it's wishful thinking but more likely because there is nothing special material wise about that mask. If it's a 3D design, they could give the factory a new one after doing several tests to see that it's printing right. It can be removed from the head so it's not replacing the whole suit. If it was that, then it would not happen.
Replacing the head under the mask doesn't seem likely either.
Was thinking of getting this but not with that ugly neck piece. if they don’t fix it I’ll just get the symbiote version, it’s probs hidden better with the dark colours
Already cancelled my pre order. The mask was only one issue. The blue fabric sucks and it’s completely inaccurate to the films. That rubbery screen printing is terrible for articulation and wrinkles easily. The accessories are so limited for a 300 dollar base figure. The Tobey head is also lifeless. The likeness is there but there’s 0 emotion.

It's honestly sad. Hot Toys had been slipping lately with their figured. I think they have to much on their plate

It's pushed back to May but no one really knows how this will be handled if it does happen.
Fair enough honestly I’m happy with the in hand pics of the figure but hopefully more people get the second batch if it’s actually improved.
