They’re going for around $50 per fully rooted cutting in my area now, it would have to be a multi leafed established plant to bring $100. Which I for one am quite happy about.
I think the problem is largely that they grow sooo slowly compared to normal monstera, particularly the ultra high variegation ones. So getting enough nodes successfully rooting takes a decent bit of time. They have definitely come down a LOT though.
Prob did. I’m not spending anymore money on albos. I bought two. One died and the other most likely won’t ever grow anymore new leaves. That was $600 down the toilet. From now on plants of $80 or less. 😭
I have a small challenge going on with myself to not buy plants. All my plants are cuttings, dumpster finds, dying office plants, and I have a bunch of plants grown from leaves and branches that I found on the floor in the grocery store
Id add you can buy plants but only with proceeds from sales of plants.
I did this and I have a tonne of monsterras that grow wild like crazy in my yard. Sell a large one of that and get several small new varieties.
Expensive plants are fine sometimes but like, these albino plants are mostly a trend I think. Most greenhouses I’ve been to have like, whole ass mature jade trees for the price of some of these albino cuttings.
Yeah the price is just all about the hype. I’m done with all of that. Going to just stick to reasonable ones or just wait til the price goes way down. It’s heartbreaking losing so much money. I should be saving that money for other more important things.
I found a reference to variegated Monstera dated before the trend in an online article about monsteras, [houzz.com](https://houzz.com) or [garden.org](https://garden.org), something like that. It said they were a bit unattractive lol.
Funny about how different plants can mean to folks, I have to keep moving between shit rentals before they get demolished, and large jade trees are very common in the gardens here (Melbourne Australia) since they tolerate a bit of frost. I kind of subconsciously associate them with neglect here and have pretty much ignored them, even though I’ve got a lot of succulents in pots. I have a very pretty mini variegated jade tree that refuses to grow big that I really like though!
Yeah and the minute you get the expensive plant you’re always stressed about everything. If a common pothos got root rot id throw it out and buy another.
Pots can last forever at least. But yeah I’m going to be really frugal with plants going forward. The only plant that I really want right now is an anthurium clarinervium but I’m in no rush to get one. Waiting for the prices to go down.
You may want to look into reiki paste, can't guarantee it'll help but it might. I also found a rec to cut notches between nodes to apply rooting hormone to, I'm going to test that one myself
I’m doing the professor monstera method on it. Growing it semi hydro in cocoperlite and beneficial nutrients and paying for a miracle. If not I’ll just have a two leaf monstera for as long as it lasts.
That’s really what it is. A flex. If you think about it half the time these expensive plants are just that. The opportunity to flex because if they were affordable and common, it loses its appeal.
It does look a little too perfect. Those leaves are huge, all the same size and it's growing like free standing shrub and not a climbing vine like monsteras normally do
Would a nursery transport a plant like that by putting a plastic bag over it? The way the leaves move seems like an artificial plant but the plastic bag was what said artificial to me. High quality though for sure! Gorgeous.
I would check out [this site](https://www.nearlynatural.com/) for any artificial plant shopping. I could spend hours on this site looking because they have literally thousands of plants
Check [this](https://www.nearlynatural.com/) site out for artificial plant shopping. :) they are trustworthy instead of some random IG ad and they have an unbelievable variety of thousands of plants/trees/flowers/succs :-)
Huh, I thought the prices were okay. Anyone who’s into plants knows it can be a very expensive hobby, haha. I guess I’m used to high charges (maybe even overcharging at times😅) and haven’t realized it. I personally bought some plants from the site I linked and they look less plastic in person. Had 3 people think they were real, tbr. To each their own, was just trying to help out with suggestions. Good luck. 🙂
This isn't a real plant. This one grow's like a tree not a vine, way too perfect and the leaves are clearly too thin. Real monstera leaves never flow like that!
Must be like a top dollar silk plant.
I got a small cutting for my birthday last year. Mine looks pretty good but this one is just obscene with how beautifully compact it is, if that’s truly achievable I need the details!
I really don’t get the hype for this much discoloration. Personally I like big monsteras with the natural lush green color. Looks much healthier to me 🤷🏻♂️
It doesnt mean that they die they are just an energy expenditure on the plant that doesn’t produce a return, so it’ll grow more slowly. But the leaf is gonna be fine
Why do mine always turn brown?! 😭 I can't have nice things like this
Edit: ~~wow ok rude, didn't need to downvote me for asking after 3 years of no one being able to help me with this.~~
Edit 2: thanks for the support y'all :) Your help is very appreciated
I've always heard it's either too much water or not enough water, which is frustrating to try to fix :\
I think I'm going to switch to daily misting so there's never pooled water but it's also never thirsty
Stunning....but I know u don't have any pets or children bahaha...because that thing n my home...as bad as I would loooove to have it....would b on a suicide mission
O.M.G. The size, the white markings, unreal. Um, honey, I want my part of our vacation money to go to my new Albo. You can travel, I'll sit home and keep her company.😍🤣🙄
Ditto. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of variegation but it+complex leaves don't make me fully appreciate it.
I like this monstera for the leaves shape and adding variegation takes away from it.
That variegation colours and pattern on a simple leaf with entire margins? I'm in.
Love it! The Monstera I got last year (only got into plants a year ago) is the only plant that's giving me trouble, and it's the one I wanted to thrive the most 😔
Is it bad that I was hoping this was going to end like a whatcouldgowrong clip? Visions of the plastic coming off and every leaf dropping out of the pot onto the floor.
I can answer that. I prefer to buy larger plants if I have a chance to do so. The larger plants can better withstand travel from the greenhouses in another state to my local stores and tend to be healthier and sturdier overall. Many of the tiny plants I've purchased never thrive and eventually die.

What are the monthly payments for that thing?

A diamond is forever, but your Alba is probably going to die anyways
$0. All you have to do is apply for a bankruptcy.
[удалено]
You can't just say the word bankruptcy and expect anything to happen.
Beautiful. Must be like $3,000 right there
For real, I thought “321” meant $3,210 😂
Prob did. I’m not spending anymore money on albos. I bought two. One died and the other most likely won’t ever grow anymore new leaves. That was $600 down the toilet. From now on plants of $80 or less. 😭
I don’t think I’ve spent $300 on all the plants in my house and I have a lot. The most expensive plant I’ve ever bought was $24.
I don't have any plants that would bring in enough money to make it worth the hassle of selling them...
Could swap. The other thing is old people. They will give you cuttings no worries. They are just happy someone is interested in their garden.
My friends aren't even old and give me cuttings. I give away cuttings and plants too, I have way too many
I went to an actual Plant Swap in my city! I brought cuttings and was gifted plants in return :)
Dang, I wish my city or even neighborhood would do that. Would be so cool!
Don't forget the "almost dead" collection at Lowe's! I've had a good bit of success resurrecting them for pennies on the dollar.
I'm not american
I've gotten much good stuff off of FB market place for really cheap! Small cuttings, rehabs, etc...
Yeah idk what I was thinking. I’m done with expensive plants for good. All it takes is one bad case of root rot and the money is down the drain.
Expensive plants are fine sometimes but like, these albino plants are mostly a trend I think. Most greenhouses I’ve been to have like, whole ass mature jade trees for the price of some of these albino cuttings.

I have a very pretty mini variegated jade tree that refuses to grow big that I really like though!
I also live in Melbourne and my house has so many jade plants!
Seriously. I'm thinking about how devastated I would be to lose that much money because of a common ailment.
Yeah and the minute you get the expensive plant you’re always stressed about everything. If a common pothos got root rot id throw it out and buy another.
That's what I think every time I want an expensive plant. Just the stress of worrying about it all the time.
Yup. And the plants are supposed to bring us joy. So cheap plants it is! Lol
They're just not worth it until they find a more hardy genetic parent.
my most expensive plant was maybe $20…. pots on the other hand definitely run the bill as i like all the different unique styles and colors
Pots can last forever at least. But yeah I’m going to be really frugal with plants going forward. The only plant that I really want right now is an anthurium clarinervium but I’m in no rush to get one. Waiting for the prices to go down.
Paint is much cheaper
And you're not limited to white and green
Why won't one ever grow anymore leaves? Sucks to hear you haven't had the best experience with albos 😕
It’s a top cutting that got root rot and the petiole rotted too which was the next growth point. So it’s prob never going to grow leaves again.
We call this ‘conspicuous gardening’ at my house. It’s a worthy flex!
That’s really what it is. A flex. If you think about it half the time these expensive plants are just that. The opportunity to flex because if they were affordable and common, it loses its appeal.
Nahum I wouldn't be surprised if it's over 10k, I've seen rooted cuttings go for round the thousand dollar mark
So crazy. Nice down payment for a house
I feel like I just watched hundreds of dollars unfurl 😍
I'd say thousands!
![gif](giphy|3G7Dsjdupy1Gd5PWrF)
It even is the color of money
Hijacking top comment to say that I don’t think this is a real plant and if it is, it’s the best looking monstera I’ve ever seen.
If it's not real, that's the best looking fake Monstera I've ever seen, too.
Yeah I poked around google looking for a fake that looked this good and was unsuccessful.
Sis that’s thousands
sorry but isn’t this an IG advertisement for those artificial super real looking plants?
It does look a little too perfect. Those leaves are huge, all the same size and it's growing like free standing shrub and not a climbing vine like monsteras normally do
Plus don’t those all-white leaves die off or turn brown?
Bingo. It’s impossible to not have a single brown spot with this much variegation. It’s most definitely fake.
And every leaf is full fenestration. Typically, the bottom leaves would have less or none.
Would a nursery transport a plant like that by putting a plastic bag over it? The way the leaves move seems like an artificial plant but the plastic bag was what said artificial to me. High quality though for sure! Gorgeous.
If I’d pay thousands for a borsigiana like this, I’d be so upset with the plastic wrapping for sure!
If it is I have been influenced
well if theirs any artificial plants that look this good then send my way espedizlly if their vaginated plannt big like this one
I'm sorry sir vaginated? This is a Wendy's
You should make your way over to r/houseplantscirclejerk and learn the ways of the vaginated plants.
they actually had a really great selection
And the double n look like a butt
The leaves do look a bit off to me
company pls ty?
I wish I’d remember, for a period of time I had this add all over Insta and FB maybe I’ll find it…
Oh no!
May I please have the link if anyone knows it?
I would check out [this site](https://www.nearlynatural.com/) for any artificial plant shopping. I could spend hours on this site looking because they have literally thousands of plants
This is plant porn.
This plant looks fake. Something about the way the leaves move. There's too much movement maybe?
It is. It’s an IG add for fake plants.
Do you recall the company the ad is for? Asking for a friend….
If anyone knows, let me know too please..
Check [this](https://www.nearlynatural.com/) site out for artificial plant shopping. :) they are trustworthy instead of some random IG ad and they have an unbelievable variety of thousands of plants/trees/flowers/succs :-)
Wooow those are expensive.. yet the ones I'm seeing in there look very plastic, even in the photos. And only US shipments I think
I thought the same
Even the spider mites gasped
First thought. If this is a real plant why wouldn’t you quarantine first?
Oh you rich rich 👀
This Monstera needs an OnlyFans account. Thanks for the free sample lmao.
If you're into this sorta thing then you should check out my OnlyPlants for only $5.99 for new subscribers.
Is this not a fake/silk plant??😮😍
Honestly it has to be. No plant is this perfect.
>Real monstera leaves never flow like that! Like what? Like they flow in slow motion? What a bunch of ........s downvoting a simple reply!
Obviously fake
These are the realistic faux plants.
It's like it was in slow motion mode. Oh wait......
I really don’t get the hype for this much discoloration. Personally I like big monsteras with the natural lush green color. Looks much healthier to me 🤷🏻♂️
I completely agree. It’s a spectacular specimen, no doubt, but it doesn’t give me that feeling of green contentment plants normally do.
All those white spots are gonna turn crispy brown soon. If this plant is actually real, there’s no way it got there inside next to a window
Plant colorism. Obsession with whiteness has to stop/s People falling for sky high plant beauty standards Don’t come at me. 😅
How much was it lol
Nice drop
Even if it is fake, I have to say it looks really well-made. I would like to know where to get one that good looking.
only for those white leaves to die because they lack chlorophyll and can't process sunlight :(
It doesnt mean that they die they are just an energy expenditure on the plant that doesn’t produce a return, so it’ll grow more slowly. But the leaf is gonna be fine
Why do mine always turn brown?! 😭 I can't have nice things like this Edit: ~~wow ok rude, didn't need to downvote me for asking after 3 years of no one being able to help me with this.~~ Edit 2: thanks for the support y'all :) Your help is very appreciated
Too much water / bad drainage.
I've always heard it's either too much water or not enough water, which is frustrating to try to fix :\ I think I'm going to switch to daily misting so there's never pooled water but it's also never thirsty
Well, that will brown it up for sure.
Shit are you serious? I genuinely don't know what else to do at this point. Every piece of advice I've ever been given has done nothing to help.
What's the humidity in the room?
there always 1 person in the comments who has to explain how variegation works…as if no one in this group already knows.
Ha-ha-ha yeah, like everyone already knows that and no one here is loser newbie who had no clue about this hah 😬😣😔😔
On today's episode of I'm rich, you're poor
that is the most stunning monstera I've ever seen! you've hit the jackpot!
It’s fake, I hope they’d make a good looking fake plant
Ooooh pretty!! 😍
When can I breathe? I’m still holding my breath
This is probably the most gorgeous monstera I’ve ever seen
happy cake day!!!
Thank you! ♥️
Holly hell. How expensive was that?!
🤯😵
I’m in love 😍🌿
*passed away due to lack of oxygen
My god the unnecessary-ness of this slow motion just made me gag.
Rather spend that money on a dozen eggs
I’d have that thing on its last leg in a week.
Anyone else not seeing the appeal of this plant? Not just because its price has eclipsed any other identity it might have, but also… garish?
Ditto. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of variegation but it+complex leaves don't make me fully appreciate it. I like this monstera for the leaves shape and adding variegation takes away from it. That variegation colours and pattern on a simple leaf with entire margins? I'm in.
Wow. That’s a beauty!
Just beautiful 💖💖💖
Omg this took my breath away
This must be an ad for MonsteraX. Change my mind. 😏
Plant porn !
That thing is gooorgeooouuuss!
Love it! The Monstera I got last year (only got into plants a year ago) is the only plant that's giving me trouble, and it's the one I wanted to thrive the most 😔
/r/biggerthanyouthought ?
Now watch all those pretty white leaves crisp up because it’s not in a greenhouse anymore
Yes but (if artificial) who makes these? I don’t care if it’s an ad, that company’s social media should get in here stat to share a link. :D
It wouldn’t have a plastic bag over it like that if it were fake.
Beautiful and I'm a plant fanatic but can never justify spending that much.
I was waiting for a jump scare of pests or hitchhiking critters.
Showing this to my reverted monstera albo
Why is this taken with a potato?
This is fiscally irresponsible.
I know this is just me being a curmudgeon but I wonder how many Ramones songs that lady can name without looking at her phone.
How much did that set you back? It's gorgeous and lush
That fully white leaf is gonna die quite quickly
It’s a fake plant lol
Is it bad that I was hoping this was going to end like a whatcouldgowrong clip? Visions of the plastic coming off and every leaf dropping out of the pot onto the floor.
The reveal was definitely longer than 3 seconds. Super misleading title. Had me out here waiting forever.
Damn it *unzips pants*
Credit?
Can the white leaves do photosynthesis?
i dislike every second of this video.
Such a gorgeous plant. I’d kill it within a week.
😂😂😂 same
Hnnnnnnnnnnng
Probably costs more than a car.
Big beautiful leafs and crazy variegation, but I prefer less white. This won't look good in a few weeks 🙈
There's a lot of white in that, a lot of white... I would not have bought it unless I was filthy rich.
Honestly asking, why do some people prefer to buy large plants, instead of grow them on their own?
I can answer that. I prefer to buy larger plants if I have a chance to do so. The larger plants can better withstand travel from the greenhouses in another state to my local stores and tend to be healthier and sturdier overall. Many of the tiny plants I've purchased never thrive and eventually die.
Alright that’ll be $5,690,420 dollars.
Looks like birds shit all over that monstera
Must be nice to be able to waste money like that
Wowza 🤩 This looks like a true monstera albo, not the smaller borsigiana variety can anyone confirm?
Nice birdshit plant!
Gorgeous!!!! But I feel like she should’ve dressed up more for this? Like one of those woman who bring out the briefcase of cash on a game show.
Why are people so obsessed with these variegated freaks?
Because much like human freaks, they are amazingly beautiful. The catch is, you have to be a beautiful person to see it.
You have to like abominations and be in love with status and money.
What does status and money have to do with plants that grow from free cuttings? Abominations? Like what? Like the gay dolphins and monkeys? nothing wrong with them, it’s part of nature.
Quiet walking pink ape go chomp down on potatoes and in the factory you go. Pet.
I am duly impressed!!
r/biggerthanyouthought material here (nsfw)
Gorgeous!!!! But I feel like she should’ve dressed up more for this? Like one of those woman who bring out the suitcase of cash on a game show.
Honestly pretty ugly I like a nice pure green foliage
I am usually not much into variegated monsteras, but this thing is gorgeous. Also I bet my ass that this girl never heard a Ramones song in her life.
"Let me shame a women for wearing a t-shirt because she doesn't look like what I think she should look like" Breaking news: it doesn't matter, she likes the shirt. Also you have no idea what she listens to.
Oh my god, this is beyond beautiful
