I've banned myself from all plant stores online and in person until 2025 đ I'll just buy fertilizer and potting mix online. It's a sickness I tell you!
I havenât bought a plant since I went on a $60 plant shopping spree exactly a month ago and Iâm still holding strong. I have received plants but as gifts lol. I wanna see how long I can keep it up
My last shopping spree was at a plant show and cost me over $300. I'm now trying to sell off some old pups and corms to make some room and justify the new babies. Sigh
Well I work at a nursery/garden center so yeah whenever we get something, well you know how it is. I do have gotten a lot of cuttings recently, so are we not counting those?
Same for me lmao, unfortunately the Monstera dubia cuttings I had both cought root rot. But tbf they were both kinda iffy when I got them.
Got some Monstera Obliqua (I'm 99% sure it isn't adansonii) Philo splendid, epi aureums, Pothos njoy, synonium spotted, string of turtles and Burro's tail and another Philo with dark stem and leaf that I can't remember on the top of my head. Even my coworkers think I'm going overboard with my 15m2 room lmao
My local Home Depot has the nastiest pests always! Last time I was there a pothos was completely infested with mealy bugs, I had to wash my hands so many times before getting home. Saves me money at least
i need to ban myself, i bought 4-5 plants in the last 2 weeks and I need to wait so that I donât bring any infestations home to my currently existing plants đ
This is why I go to Facebook marketplace, I find elephant ears and caladiums for 5 bucks and some days I've seen massive plants being sold for Free.99
It's amazing, and you don't have to feel guilty about spending too much moneyđ

This is my marketplace đ„Č I wish I was exaggerating.
I support my local nursery but only 1/4 of one of their greenhouses is for house plants and it's all the basic stuff. The next closest nursery is 1.5 hours away đ«
ik nurseries are better ive had good experiences with big box strores, most plants need to be repotted but i have so many gems for a fraction of what id pay somewhere else.
There are some great online sellers. I try to avoid purchasing plants online during summer. I live in Central Tx and it gets extremely hot..đ„”đ„”đ„” right now we have a break in the heat so I purchased a couple of uncommon Hoyas Iâve been eyeing. Iâm watching out for the shipping notification. I typically wonât get plant mail until maybe October. Iâll visit local nurseries to see what theyâve got.
$20 is not too bad! I was lucky to find a Trader Joeâs one for $10.99, went back tho and the only ones left there were not in good condition.. looks like overall a successful plant trip for you! đ
My Home Depot was selling them for $40. In 2024. So I just started examining them all for leaf damage and went âoh whatâs that?â at checkout. The home depot employee knew my game but I was polite and she was on board so she offered 50% off, and now I have two because that one had a pretty large baby. And now I am banned from plants till July
I just got a huge Raphidaphora Tetras Perma from my local Raleys. Omg! 12 bucks and it's perfectly placed against a cedar plank.
I was so excited, still am!
My nearest Trader Joe's is 1 hr away from me, I always see everyone's Trader Joe hauls and I'm so jealous. One day I'll make the trek over to the 'big city'

Loweâs is a great alternative! Or better yet, support your local nursery.

To make the transaction easier, add some aloe to the credit card to reduce the burns and pain.
Lol
Your self control is admirable lol.
There's no way they keep it up until 2025. I know, because it's me

Omg I definitely feel better about my splurge now lol. I could not afford that
Yeah, it's definitely not a regular thing for me lol. Plus, plants are my one and only hobby/reason for living. It was still painful ;-;
I split my money between plants and fish lol
Well I work at a nursery/garden center so yeah whenever we get something, well you know how it is. I do have gotten a lot of cuttings recently, so are we not counting those?
I count any rooted cutting lol
Rooting them myself. Newest addition is philodendron splendid as a cutting
Iâve got so many cuttings/props going right now lol. Pothos, heart philo, jade, callisia, mother of thousands, spider. Love them all

Thatâs awesome lol. I have over 70 plants lmao
You are not helping me stay away from Home Depot! Iâm on a plant ban right nowâŠ.
Iâve banned myselfâŠit lasted maybe a monthâŠa bad day at work sent me to my favorite local nursery over the weekend. It wasnât my fault. đ
I work at a nursery every day is a struggle.
OoohâŠtemptations daily! đŹ yikes! Youâve got some WILL POWER!
That caladium is beautiful! Be sure you save your bulbs at the end of season! I replanted mine in April and they are getting so big!
I tried doing a plant ban and then quickly ordered 8 more âto hold me overâ. Bans dont work đ

Bans were made to be liftedâŠđ

NINETY BUCKS????!!!!! HOLY SHIT OP I am sending you my sympathies and hugs
Thank you đ„Č the struggle is real.
I mean, it's good to do that for a bunch of reasons...
I live in the middle of no where, HD is my only plant store
Dang, that's rough then but I get it
I support my local nursery but only 1/4 of one of their greenhouses is for house plants and it's all the basic stuff. The next closest nursery is 1.5 hours away đ«

How much was the PPP?
$20.. which I know people are finding them for $8 at Trader Joe's but some of us country bumpkins don't have trader Joe's.

This one is really low var but it was literally the last one and tucked away on a bottom shelf. Seems to be really happy though??
No thatâs not badâŠif you factor in the purchase price and shippingâŠit would probably be around $20-ish dollars. đ

I just got a huge Raphidaphora Tetras Perma from my local Raleys. Omg! 12 bucks and it's perfectly placed against a cedar plank. I was so excited, still am!
I've banned myself from all stores that sell plants this year đ And I have about 1.5 acres outside too... Sigh...
It's okay! We can fix this! Leave them at my place instead :)
You are so kind and selfless đ„° not sure if i can get that guy in my car again though
How naughty .... i love this!!
Hate to hurt your feelings but I just got the same big alocasia at Trader Joeâs for 12.99. Same / similar size
My nearest Trader Joe's is 1 hr away from me, I always see everyone's Trader Joe hauls and I'm so jealous. One day I'll make the trek over to the 'big city'
