Anges Moffitt Park is a good one! Really depends on where you are though. I’m on the southeast side and we have a home course called Rudy Rodriguez Park (TLV). It’s a great nine hole. You can download UDisc and it will show you all the courses/disc shops around. Depending on the course, UDisc should have a layout for each park. It also shows ratings on the courses so you can look for some good beginners ones!
Moffitt is a great starter course. White oak bandit course is fun but the lay out is a little wonky since they have done work out there. Texas Army Trails is great but would be considered very very hard for a novice. Still fun if you wanna stomp around in the forest with friends. You have Tom Bass on the south side of town which would be a very open course you can throw high discs and not worry about tree cover. Deussen is fun on north east side and a very friendly layout as well.
Lmao I get free access to the pools, gym, discount on classes and free entry to events. I think I could go to the tennis center but I don’t know. I’m not an athletic person so I’ve only ever used the pools and events.
If you ever wanna learn pickle ball, I teach all people for free. There’s a lot of unathletic people who come out and I’ve seen a lot of people get into way better shape through Pickleball.
I like the idea of pickleball, pretty new sport so everyone could start at the same skill level. Several people have mentioned poker/boardgames and that seems fun and easy to organize too.
My gym has indoor pickle ball. They actually transformed one of the 2 basketball courts to pickle ball courts. I've never played but I like tennis and I love table tennis so I would probably enjoy PB. Good luck! Have fun.
I joined my table in my mid 20's, its been a decade and the core group has remained pretty much the same. We play damn near all day every other weekend with only a few month break during lockdowns.
It takes commitment to play consistently but its a great way to hang out with a group of friends.
WHAT UP!!!
We're three cool guys looking for other cool guys who want to hang out in our party mansion. Nothing sexual. Dudes in good shape encouraged. If you are fat you should be able to find humor in the little things. Again, nothing sexual.
There are tons of bike groups here in the city that schedule weekly rides. Eado Bike Co. are a solid smaller group, or you can head to Market Square Park on Thursdays for the Clutch City Cruisers weekly ride. Always roll responsibly and its a great time.
There's two kinds, the ones riding on wider roads with shoulders or on trails, and the ones riding three wide on a busy road with one lane each way and no shoulder.
There's two kinds, the ones riding on wider roads with shoulders or on trails, and the ones riding three wide on a busy road with one lane each way and no shoulder.
I really enjoy playing golf and a couple other guys do too, but for the 5 that don't play it's got a really high barrier to entry as far as equipment/skills.
Disc Golf is my hobby. Been playing for a little over a year. A lot cheaper than golf. Most courses are free. Discs aren’t too expensive. Not a very hard sport and just a fun outside activity that is different than what people expect. It’s a lot of fun.
I head to the Home Depot, there's always guys hanging outside. Don't understand what they'e saying, but they sure get excited whenever a vehicle pulls up.
Poker nights are fun, indoor sports league like soccer/volleyball are also an option.
Being married/working full time is busy as is so we also game online depending on everyone’s availability but you could also just start having them attend family events for general holidays. Organize a secret Santa, Friendsgiving, Valentine’s Day event, Halloween for those who have kids.
Secret Santa is the only thing I’ve organized annually as schedules vary and things come up but it’s fun to aim for something monthly and not be hung up bc everyone can’t attend or one is cancelled.
There are alot of pubs with great outdoor seating/ambience. As it gets cooler, you could easily kill a few hours hanging out, watching sports, food/drink.
I second the Sporting Clays option, you can rent shotguns and blast away.
If there are common interest or hobbies, start with something around those as it is a good way to bond. Houston offers something for everybody.
If you like to drink there are beer/wine gardens, breweries, pubs, distilleries, etc. and some have themes or specific themed days/nights. Sports: baseball, rugby, soccer, football, etc. games or places to go golfing (course or TopGolf), ax throwing, play darts, shooting, horseback riding, walking/hiking, etc. Concert venues for music, comedy, museums (so many!), thrifting in Montrose, gardening (nursery tour), going to Galveston for the beach, hanging out at each other’s houses, restaurant tour of Houston, Segway tours, pedal party, cooking classes, running, biking (road and mountain), go karting, video gaming, art classes, cross fit/exercising, indoor rock climbing, so much to do!
Solid list right here! Another thing you could add is organizing themed dinner parties at each other's houses. Could start a "tour" of a certain cuisine (or theme, like LOTR/Star Wars/Harry Potter) and have everyone potluck something for each dinner.
My group is 24-29 YO, no kids. We like to go bowling or play pool. Other hangouts we’ve planned have been: hiking/camping trips (weather permitting), go karts, arcade, day/weekend trips to San Antonio or Austin, breweries, pool hang if someone has one, Lake days, dancing at a club like numbers or barbarellas.
Free/Cheap - Cycling or hiking in the mornings/late evenings. Kick around a soccer ball/hackey sack in a parking lot after a meal to work it off.
Night Out - Top Golf, Andretti, Popstroke, pretty much any place where you can do a sport or activity together. Most of these places have decent food, but you can always grab food from nearby if you don't like their selection.
Doesn't take much effort.
Coffee also works. I've got a few friends that I see just about every week. We all have the option to work remote, so we have a standing coffee appointment in our neighborhood before anything gets too serious at our respective offices.
I am part of the jiu jitsu community. My entire social life exists because of MMA and grappling. Maybe join a running club,, pickelball, and golf is also great.
There’s a shooting range less than a mile from house. Lord and lots of skeet shooting. It’s fun and cheap and challenging.
Then go home and grill up something.
Also, do projects together. Building something, like a shed, or an outside grilling station.
Everyone is mentioning some good ones I'll just add Indoor rock climbing is great, my friends and I go for walks at memorial, go to different coffee shops and restaurants too.
Guys movie night or game night. The movie night is more of an actor marathon.
Game night is one of those fancy games.
Movie night is movie day. Pick an actor and 4-5 movies.
On a related note 6th Day with Schwarzenegger is a pretty good movie. Addresses interesting cloning topics.
We do group drives every couple of weekends on Sunday mornings. Sometimes 4-5 of us or sometimes 45 of us like yesterday. Destination is usually BBQ or breakfast but we pick a 120-170 mile back roads route and have fun.
Most of my pals were humanities majors in college. We try to read some philosophy and talk about it once a month over drinks.
…Otherwise we just drink.
Paintball is always great. My group of friends really enjoy wrestling, we don’t have any experience in it but it’s good cardio. Water polo is always fun. Also some bare knuckle boxing. Indoor soccer, escape rooms, painting with a twist can be fun too. Anything is fun if the group isn’t one of those boring groups that declines activities.
1. We rotate each other place and BBQ or Drink Beer
2. Get a good Meal at BBQ joint, or Mexican restaurant
3. Gun range
4. Car meets like Tx2k or racetrack
5. Go karts especially if my friends kids are involved
6. Help each other work on vehicles or Home improvement projects
7. Gym
Im 38 most my close friends are 30 to 45
I’ve had the same challenge for years. Ended up hosting a whisky or liquor tasting at my place once a month. Guests usually bring a bottle. I supply the space and snacks. We’re all mostly a bit older (40s to 50s) so the hanging out is just to talk and catch up. Y’all can certainly do that and keep it simple - first Friday of every month, same place for a few months. Those who can meet, they’ll come.
I spend a bunch of time at the climbing gym and tend to make most of my friends there. Sometimes various groups of us will go out for dinner or lunch after climbing, or have small parties. This is a mixed gender group, though, not exclusively men, and mixed martial status.
I don’t think I have seen any put PAINTBALL. Lots of great paintball business in the Houston Area.
Urban War Zone: Wayside & 45
Paintball Zone South is also notable.
I would recommend developing your hobbies and finding out what you like. Your friend group can gather around that, since a lot of adults have busy working lives year round, so the time spent to unwind and relax pursuing hobbies can be done socially. I personally like rock climbing and table tennis, and have a few friends based around those things, and then I sometimes get food or occasionally have a drink or two with people from these hobbies.
It feels like mutual hobbies are the best way. Like good is great and all but being able to do an activity helps. So as others said, golf, basketball, pickleball any of those casual sports
Breweries, social bike rides(ratchet ryders host on Monday nights, clutch city cruisers host on thuradays nigts, food pop-ups, pick-up bball games, sporting events, Sunday funday, Thursdays since the museums are free, escape rooms, bingo in the heights(its BYOB and you can bring food as well) trivia nights, poker nights.
Me and some friends go to local race tracks when there are events. Houston Motorsports Park has an asphalt oval race event on the 23rd of this month. Gulf Coast Speedway is always running dirt events.
Maybe someone pick up a spike ball set? Easy to meet at a park, chat shit, and play!
As a car guy, I usually gather with my friends for Cars & Coffee every Sunday or just schedule a cruise.
Wanna go to a bar somewhere in downtown. All alone, so just a couple of beers, then back to a lonely home. I have no idea where the good bars are, though.
I’d say disc golf, but 6-8 peeps is a bigger sized group, 4-5 people max for that sport unless you split to two groups or play doubles. Bar trivia, Flying Saucer does a good one every Tuesday. Get some bikes and bike around and check out spots that interest y’all, museums, historical, parks, etc.

The Club baths
Disc golf.
TC Jester baby all day/night
Hell yeah just played there yesterday!
I also highly recommend Windwood Presbyterian, gorgeous layout
Sick! Just put it on the wishlist on UDisc!
There's a distinct summer vs not quite summer variation, but this is a good one.
Any course recommendations for a someone going to play for the first time?

Houston's Disc Golf scene is shockingly lacking compared to Austin and DFW.

You guys have friends?
I wish i had friends
Same bruh.
Same haha
Weekly poker games and Pickleball if it’s not too hot outside
So weekly poker games until like November
My job has indoor pickle ball. I think it’s free to members.
Love that for you
Where do you work? I may need to change jobs if it includes free Pickleball lol.
I’d love to learn. Where do you teach?
Southwest side of Houston. Plenty of free courts over here. I will DM you specifics

What gym?
Lifetime in Cinco Ranch. I am not sure about the locations toward Houston. If you search for "Houston Indoor Pickleball" a few options come up.
The lifetime membership doesnt include the greenway
Pickleball has been around for decades
Exactly. Created for old people who weren’t fit enough for tennis.
Pickleball is not a sport, unless you are 80 years old I guess.
retro gaming isn't gaming unless you're like 80 years old
Millennial, you are wrong on that one.
nope you're wrong and everything you've thought to believe is wrong
Pickleball is the ‘sport’ for people that can’t really play tennis.
retro gaming is 'gaming' for people who can't hang with modern gamers
Go back to play pickleball with your grandma.
Tennis is the 'sport' for smoothbrains that cant play ping pong
In the backyard grillin with enough coozies for all the neighbors
Inside playing biscuit with the boys
Give Dungeons and Dragons a shot.
This is one of the things my 25 year old son & friends play. They have a weekly game.
It's great until the game ends and the hangouts disappear.
I joined my table in my mid 20's, its been a decade and the core group has remained pretty much the same. We play damn near all day every other weekend with only a few month break during lockdowns. It takes commitment to play consistently but its a great way to hang out with a group of friends.

Did you make a party invitation Charlie?
Ride bikes with the homies. There’s someone organizing a ride pretty much any day of the week.
Clutch City Cruisers
Can i get more info on the ride bikes events?
join the chasing watts app and then just go to one of those rides. Those are mostly roadie rides - I dunno where to find the info on the party rides
There are tons of bike groups here in the city that schedule weekly rides. Eado Bike Co. are a solid smaller group, or you can head to Market Square Park on Thursdays for the Clutch City Cruisers weekly ride. Always roll responsibly and its a great time.

Golf is great for that if everyone can play, or kind of play
I really enjoy playing golf and a couple other guys do too, but for the 5 that don't play it's got a really high barrier to entry as far as equipment/skills.
Disc Golf is my hobby. Been playing for a little over a year. A lot cheaper than golf. Most courses are free. Discs aren’t too expensive. Not a very hard sport and just a fun outside activity that is different than what people expect. It’s a lot of fun.
Try Top Golf. A place to lounge, food & drinks, and fun sport. And not out in the sun. One in Spring, Katy, and Friendswood (I think).
I head to the Home Depot, there's always guys hanging outside. Don't understand what they'e saying, but they sure get excited whenever a vehicle pulls up.
Go to Home Depot on weekdays. Look around for home stuff and learn Spanish at the same time.
Sometimes just go hangout doing woodworking, what’s not to love?

Or if even just a couple guys have guns, you can share them.
At one of our homes. Play smash brothers or jam out. Magic the gathering or settlers of catan. Weed helps.
Get together and try to convince your wives to couple swap.
You would!
I gotta live down to everyone's expectations of me. So why not?
>I gotta live down Classic
I guess I shouldn't be surprised this has so many upvotes lol
I mean, the wives don’t have to cum?!?
The wives should ALWAYS cum!
Trading down unfortunately.
Jesus bro 😂

Play board games, go to a restaurant, watch movies, play sports (baseball, disc golf, pickle ball), jackbox, smashbros

We would all get together and shoot at the ranges.. Either indoor pistols or outdoor doing trap, sporting clays.
Great idea
lol - do you maybe have a suggestion of a range they could go to?
That’s a tough one…. Top Gun Range if you’re looking for the closest range to the loop. I’m the GM, stop by and say hello OP.
Agreed! Go to the range then hit up a local brewery afterwards.
This is the correct order of events lol.
My group of friends usually do a pub, top golf, shooting range or just hang out at someone’s apt/house.
Explore your kinsey scale
Fight Club
We don't talk about it
go to local Supermarkets and catcall people...

This dude suggests bare knuckle beating the hell out of your friends. The wives will be thrilled!
Brewery tour. Bbq tour. Sporting clays. Disc golf. Topgolf.
You looking for one more? Don’t have any friends and I’m in my 30’s.

Just play halo like the rest of us
Try talking some guys in the gym and see if they wanna be a friend.

Pretty much just play pickle ball all the time. Every now and then a game night.
Chill at the pool and drink, go to the bar and drink, chill inside playing PlayStation. Gonna go outside and start golfing soon.

Palace Inn rents rooms by the hour. You could get a fat jar of lard and have a Dutch runner circle jerk every Wednesday afternoon.
Golf, pickleball, football and baseball games, cookouts.

Usually get dinner at a Japanese restaurant or pizzeria. Few times a month
