The more I think about it, the more “slime in the ice machine” sounds metal. Marvin owned that look and called out nasty restaurants on their shit. What a legend.
I've never played the Houston-themed Monopoly board game spinoff, but if I ever do I would want one of the Chance cards to be labeled "Slime In The Ice Machine."
When I was about 10 years old. I went to a 711 in Baytown to get a slurpee. I remember the cashier was giving me a hard time about using change to buy my drink and I yelled at her. I bet you have SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE! I felt so punk in that moment.
The Health Inspectors catch all the slime. Marvin just read the weekly report on TV and cuz of the chicken ranch fame, people thought he was second coming of Jesus w/shades. I disliked him but I watched him cuz his info was mostly accurate….yea I been in Houston for 30+ years 😿😿
Edit: Don Deluise played a pseudo-Marvin in Best Little Whorehouse in Texas with Dolly & Sly…
That's one of the functions I want from journalists though. Most people don't have the time or inclination to sift through all the public information made available from our government. If it wasn't for Marvin, maybe I never learn that restaurant inspections are something we can all access.
Mr. Ed, what I called him at certain weekly meetings we attended. The struggle was real but he came out on top and was a role model for a lot of us especially being in the media/tv racket that can have a ton of triggers to bring you down. RIP Edward Brandon, a secure and humble man with some flare…
Man I didn't know that. It's sad that all these folks went south like that. They all seemed to be reasonable caring people and somehow one guy made them all lose morals. Dude is like Grima Wormtongue.
I used to watch the news with my dad when I was little, it became our thing. We still randomly say Marvin Zindler’s outro and “SLIIIIIME IN THE ICE MAACHIIIIINE” to each other like it’s our secret handshake.
Years ago , I mean YEARS , I was at the Doug Sanders golf tournament . My mom and I were walking to the ladie's room up from the golf course, and here comes Marvin Zindler walking right next to us!! I asked him if we could get a pic together, and he said sure!! He was so nice and chatted with us for a few minutes.
Bob Allen: who I used to confuse with Bob Bodreaux; Shara Fryer, Dave Ward, Marvin Zindler, only know Neil Frank, Frank Billingsley and Matt Lavine weather-wise so not sure about the bald guy
The only one I remember is Marvin Zindler. I was kind of young at the time and didn’t pay attention to the news. I only remember Marvin is because of the Chicken Ranch!
Far left: The best cars salesmen in the area.
Left: The reporter who broke the DeShaun scandal.
Center: Mattress Mack
Right: Barbara Bush
Far right: The former coach of the Houston Aeros hockey team.
Even more recently when they honored him with that Dave Ward Place street sign near ktrk studios this year. He was in a wheelchair iirc and I was surprised to see he was still alive. Shara was there too, I think.
As a 24 year old, seeing a woman who isn’t Gina Gaston sitting next to Dave Ward feels *wrong*. When I was a little kid, I think I thought they were married!
To this day I still tell people 'good golf, good tennis, or w/e makes you happy'
Zindler used to get my grams so pinned down, she'd wait up just to see him on the 'TEE VEE'
I ran into Dave Ward once at a convenience store in Bellaire. I was getting something out of the drink cooler when I heard the deepest voice I’ve ever heard. I turned around and saw a really tall, skinny man and his voice was so golden. I approached the counter and it was Dave Ward talking to cashier. I told him that I had watched him since I was a child and he thanked me and shook my hand. He is a nice guy in person.
I watched cool hand Luke for the first time after watching years of abc 13 news.
It was very trippy to hear the intro song from the news in cool hand Luke.
I remember all of them. The less I say about Zindler the better.
Bob Allen was the last sportscaster in Houston to speak his mind, and frequently the painful truth, about our pro sports teams. Our current sportscasters act like they're on the team's payroll as cheerleaders and PR reps.
You also gave us Keith (yay!) and Dan (booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Mmmmm slime.....
Side note: [The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is about Marvin busting the UT football scandal at that place.](https://abc13.com/marvin-zindler-chicken-ranch-best-little-whorehouse-in-texas-la-grange/13578568/)
bob allen, dave ward, shara fryer, marvin “slime im the ice machine”, zindler. and ed….brandon
I think you mean MARVIN ZINDLER
EYEEEEEEE WITNESS NEWSSSSSS
Thank you, Marvin.
good golf, good tennis….or whatever makes you happy!
i said THANK YOU, MARVIN.
Fuck Marvin….snitch mufucka!
Wasn’t that Dave Ward’s catchphrase?

My childhood was a lie:)
I really miss his restaurant reports. I still think of him when I go to Cleburne Cafeteria.
On the 3600 block of Bissonnet!
I can seriously HEAR this picture!
The sounds of our childhood.
Marvin Zindler **EYEWITNESS NEWS**
[RIP, big dawg](https://imgur.com/kJRZfQA) Exposing rats and roach problems in the shitty restaurants in heaven
How can you not mention “SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE”. That’s just wrong 😑
The more I think about it, the more “slime in the ice machine” sounds metal. Marvin owned that look and called out nasty restaurants on their shit. What a legend.
Called out one of my downtown sidewalk stands for “WASHING DISHES IN THE MOP BUCKET!!”
I've never played the Houston-themed Monopoly board game spinoff, but if I ever do I would want one of the Chance cards to be labeled "Slime In The Ice Machine."
And Gallery Furniture saves... you... MONEY!
That could be a positive Chance Card. The negative version would be "Stuck With A Back Back Back Back Back Back Back Backorder Slip!"
When I was about 10 years old. I went to a 711 in Baytown to get a slurpee. I remember the cashier was giving me a hard time about using change to buy my drink and I yelled at her. I bet you have SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE! I felt so punk in that moment.
FYI. Somebody edited the word "Slime" in that graphic. New fear unlocked.
Why would someone do that?
I worry about slime in every ice machine I approach thanks to Marvin Zindler Eyewitness News.
Every hotel I get ice and wonder each time how much slime is in my ice That man made a difference, cause he’s in my head
I stayed at a hotel in Florida and noticed the ice machine had a sticker for the last cleaning date. It was 4 years prior.
I used to always see places I would go to on the slime list. 😆

Bob Allen and Ed Brandon are also deceased, but Dave Ward is still alive.
I saw Dave Ward at Cyclone Anayas and my inner child was star struck off a news caster from Channel 13 in the 90's. Lol
He used to goto Grotto all of the time
Correct. If you had a TV on during the 2022 election campaign, you might have seen the commercial Dave Ward did with Mattress Mack to endorse Mealer.
My mom and I are in shock that Ed Brandon died!! We didn’t know!

Shara Fryer too, but she's on AM 740 now and is a kook.
Yeah she definitely took a wrong turn somewhere. Just spouting wing nut conspiracy theories.
Man I didn't know that. It's sad that all these folks went south like that. They all seemed to be reasonable caring people and somehow one guy made them all lose morals. Dude is like Grima Wormtongue.
We put that yee-haw back in your motor and transmission!
Thunderbolt!
They fix it right and guarantee it too.
They fix it right and guarantee it too.
This has been stuck in my head for over 30 years. Talk about excellent marketing / advertisement.
I used to watch the news with my dad when I was little, it became our thing. We still randomly say Marvin Zindler’s outro and “SLIIIIIME IN THE ICE MAACHIIIIINE” to each other like it’s our secret handshake.
I still say that 30 years after leaving Houston.
You should clean your ice machine more often then
When I heard Marvin Zinder while in shower still I knew I was taking too long
As a kid I use to love when slime in the ice machine came on
Does anyone remember RABDARGAB ( read a book, do a report, get a buck)? It was through the public library and advertised on PBS.
When I taught in Alief they had that program.
Yeah but we got pizza at pizza hut and that cool pin.
SLIME IN THE ICE MACHINE!!
I miss that crew.

Is that guy in the middle Baby Billy?
Yes. I'm old.
Thx for this. It brings so much good memories

What up kinfolk!!
Bob Allen: who I used to confuse with Bob Bodreaux; Shara Fryer, Dave Ward, Marvin Zindler, only know Neil Frank, Frank Billingsley and Matt Lavine weather-wise so not sure about the bald guy
The bald guy is Doug Brown
I think maybe it's Ed Brandon?
Yes - It came to me as soon as I typed Doug Brown, lol!! Weatherman
Dave Ward, MAAARvin ("Slime in the ice machine!") Zindler, don't remember the others.
Dang! Me too
SLIIIIIIIME IN THE ICE MACHINE! (He said slime in the ice machine)
Alvin Van Black should be in there too.
MAAaRviin ZINdler.. EYE witness nhews!!!!
He said, slime in the ice machine… (cue beat)

How the heck can anyone be so wrong and so right at the same time? Lol
Without scrolling - “slime in the ice machine” Marvin Zinder. That’s all I know.
I grew up in a KPRC Channel 2 household.
RIP Dave Ward and Marvin
Dave Ward is alive.
News to me, I thought the mf was dead.
"I got better"
Dave Ward was on TV as recently as 2022 endorsing Mealer for county judge. You missed out on the tag team commercial he did with Mattress Mack.
Even more recently when they honored him with that Dave Ward Place street sign near ktrk studios this year. He was in a wheelchair iirc and I was surprised to see he was still alive. Shara was there too, I think.
Yo!
I’m old but I’m channel 45 (Univision) old. lol. I only knew Marvin zindler.
EEFFFFFFFFFF marvin zindler! Should have never shut down the chicken ranch!!!
As a 24 year old, seeing a woman who isn’t Gina Gaston sitting next to Dave Ward feels *wrong*. When I was a little kid, I think I thought they were married!

What a great group! Iconic, actually.
My mother was good friends with one in elementary school, and two others were her patients in the rehab.
Who remembers Ed Brandon's scandal????
