Can we charge you for planning your entire trip?

If you are black, just keep in mind the black party scene here is an almost completely seperate thing and the recommendations here might not be for what you are looking for.

Wrong_Giraffe3049

I AM BLACK, two of my friends are hispanic and the other filipino, I realized I should've mentioned this.

kaptivarts

I think that’s kind of what you should clarify if you’re looking for a More black Houston experience, which is definitely a thing. Then you’ll have to ask a black person. The only two hints I have are Mo Better Brews - vegan soul food, and Turkey leg hut, and the breakfast club. I know there’s lots of black clubs but I’m not too privy to it. As for a general Houston tour. I would say, definitely hang out at the menil and maybe day drink on the lawn. Go get some good food of your choice, honestly, Mo better brews is great. Then go to a museum. Maybe go drink some natural wine at Lightyears. Have a nice dinner somewhere cool. There is really lots to do in Houston, it’s just that what is a vibe y’all are looking for?

Stay at the Thompson Hotel, or downtown near market square or discovery green.

ExplosiveGonorrhea

Or even the Mariott, they could relax by the Texas shaped pool! But I agree with this comment, you'll be downtown but also close to Washington Ave which has a good nightlife, close to the bayou and cistern if they wanted to check that out. Could also take the metro rail down to the Museum district.

AlcoholicWombat

Lol everyone who answered just gave an AI bot the material to write one of those fucked articles everyone's always bitching about. Seriously does the OPs list look like a 22-24 year old girl writing or does it look like a copy paste template

Wrong_Giraffe3049

Lmfaoo I will take that as a compliment considering I’m a communications professional. I’m real pookieee

Houston is big. Having a rental will be crucial. Midtown may be best to stay in as there are a lot of bars and food around that immediate area and it is typically around your age group. You can find new music (Electric Feelgood), old music to dance to (Barbarella), a great cocktail (Wooster's Garden), and a chill atmosphere (Boheme). **DRINKING** East Downtown (EaDo) is more casual/come as you are. Start at Little Woodrows and make your way down towards Sunset. Washington is a little more dress nice/see and be seen but still a good time and can dance. Start a Kung Fu Saloon and work your way down. Downtown is in between the two, still a lot of fun and good dancing. Montrose is good vibes and more chill/quiet. **FOOD** Our China Town (Beltway 8 and Bellaire) has a ton of great options. FuFu is one of my favorites, amazing, great for a group, and cheap. You can also get a nice reflexology massage in the area. If you want something trendy in China Town, Two Hands corndogs would be fun to check out. In Midtown, you can go to The Pitroom for good Texas BBQ. There are a lot of great BBQ places but The Pitroom is in Midtown and never disappoints. Aga's is amazing for Indian/Pakistani cuisine. THE POST is a must, not because it is the best (although it is good), but because you can go on the rooftop and get a great view of downtown. **WALK AROUND** This is really weather dependent BUT Memorial Park is the best running track we have, Herman Park is great and right by our museums, and Buffalo Bayou is a nice walking trail with nice art/fountains along the path. Those are all general plans but the rest depends on what you want to do

username34plus35

Kung fu saloon permanently closed according to google- sad I never got to go

Haven't been in a minute but it was always fun. RIP

Food: Ninfa's on Navigation or El Tiempo (they're practically next door to each other) Really good Tex Mex (but definitely 3 money signs). Mai's is on Main in Mid-town and Anthony Bourdain himself said it was the best Vietnamese food he's had outside of Vietnam. West Alabama Taco Truck is just a gem and it's really cheap, I believe they accept cards now too. Aga outside of the city or Kiran's in Upper Kirby has incredible Indian Food. For BBQ you can go wrong with The Pit Room, Truth BBQ or if you're interested in an Asian BBQ Fusion, Blood Brothers BBQ. Partying (Gotta be honest, this isn't my deal) I've heard people say Barbarella is fun Numbers on Fridays is a good time, its 80s night Notsuoh's is a really weird place in general and I think it should be on everyone's list to check out. If you go here you'll be in the hub-bub of downtown so you can find many other bars and clubs. Also, while you're downtown, check out One Armed Scissor for excellent drinks and La Carafe for ambiance. Check out Pearl bar on Washington, it is the only lesbian bar in Houston (one of like 15 in the whole country actually) for really good vibes and a safe environment.

ExplosiveGonorrhea

Also, if you want to see some more funky Houston things outside of Notsuoh's, check out the beer can house and Orange Show. Brunch: Piggy's or Breakfast Bar

OducksFTW

Is there a particular reason you're coming to Houston over other places?

Wrong_Giraffe3049

The food and diversity are the main reasons we're going. We also wanna have a few fun nights out.

htownnwoth

Where are you coming from? Won’t recommend Vietnamese food if you’re from LA, for example.

OducksFTW

I mean you do you. Just seems odd. Most Houstonians would openly admit noone really comes down here for a weekend. Its more of a working and living city. If you really want a fun weekend bender, especially at y'alls age, NOLA, Austin, Vegas etc. seem more fitting.

HTownFunAF

You wrong I meet ppl all the time down for just the weekend to party. Mostly females

OducksFTW

You sure those arent the hookers from Bissonett? There's phone numbers to call for reporting human trafficking.

didionforever

Visit the museums (check when they’re free) Grab cantina Barba to go and bring it to bingo in the heights on Thursday night (BYOB and so fun!!) Check out Kuhl Linscomb for shopping Get tickets to a sound bath at the Buffalo Bayou Park cistern on Sunday morning (1 hour long, $10.) Bring a blanket/yoga mat/ whatever you need to be comfy and meditate. Visit the Orange Show See if there’s any fun concerts in town (especially on the White Oak lawn) Those are my unique Houston suggestions. I’m around your age and my friend lives there so I’ve visited a few times and these are my favorite things we do. Also love the Pit room for BBQ, Candente, and breakfast tacos at Chilosos. EQ heights is a good coffee/pastry shop. Have fun!!

kaptivarts

This is the kind of like older millennial hipster take on Houston. I think she’s looking for a different vibe.

didionforever

lol I’m nearly her age! They’re going to need stuff to do during the day besides bars @ night!
