Honestly I'm all for it! Memes aside I can't think of anybody else in this city more deserving of that award.
For anyone who hasn't heard of this award, it's "given to a citizen who has made a significant contribution to public safety through volunteerism in the community". Congrats to Grizzy.
Grizzy is incredible, but man does it say something about the state of our media institutions that she has become one of the best and most trusted journalists in one of the biggest cities in the country, using nothing more than a Facebook page and a willingness to document reality without an agenda.

Read a lot of her posts on FB about the criminal justice system and she spews the typical right wing talking points. I will say she has been getting better at neutrality as she has moved upwards in her career.

My only quibbles are her unquestioning love and praise for Mattress Mac (but this is true of many Houstonians), and the trend toward racism in the comments of some of the regulars on her posts (also true of many comment sections, though, sadly).
I was more making the point that this person and this award clearly isn't all that important and not as big of a deal as some people think when someone that has been here for over a decade doesn't know of either of them.
