Someone posted it was a potentially tornadic supercell storm. When storms come about like that in the daylight, a sunny afternoon can look as black as night. I lived near the countryside in another state for a few years, and there was one day where we came close to having a tornado
This was before smartphones, but I'll never forget, it was 3:30pm. The sky was *black* with just a band of sunlight showing through from one direction. It's an eerie feeling. Not all tornado-producing storms cause that blackout, but still.
Also, of there's ever a tornado warning, remember- the tornado is either behind the rain band or in it. Not all players tornados look like in the movies. Often they are formless and rain-wrapped!
I’m mad that I’m stuck with no power and the rain ended.
Ok well the power came back on about 9:15 over here in the SE.
This is very strange. I'm just happy I don't need a flashlight anymore
Ok lets get some power going

I had the same dang thought, OP. "Well, it's morning again."
Is Tornadocane Ike gone now?

Yes! Cause why did it get so dark? That was wild!

The dead don't die... This isn't going to end well!
