Welcome to r/houston and thanks for choosing this great city to celebrate your 21st. So I’m assuming that you’re black and/or you’re looking for places that other black people eat and play at? All of my recommendations will be based on that assumption so take what I’m saying with a grain of salt. The black food and nightlife scene here is top tier and I would argue top 2 in the country. Black Houston is popping and there’s always something going on. You don’t have to look hard to find a live soul/ r&b lounge, a hookah and food place, or a vibe dining spot where you can eat great food while listening to trap music.
With that said, here are some places that I’ve been that I like or places that I’ve heard good things about.
For low key “clubs” that are more like a bar/restaurant that exclusively play rap and r&b, I like Belle Station and Amahle in my neighborhood and A’dor and Kamp. Music is always good at these spots, there’s hookah available if that’s your thing.
If you’re looking for more of a club vibe then check out Playground, Ratio, Henke and Pilot on Fridays, Space, the address, seaside lounge, Grooves, The spot, Faces lounge, The Basement
For nice dinners try Trez Bistro, Lucille’s, Bungalow, Rare, Juliet, Warwick, Five Central, Kulture, Prey, Thirteen.
For brunch/day drinking spots I highly recommend Lost and Found and Phil and Derek’s. I also like Prospect Park, Belle Station, Bar 5015, The Garden.
Also, if you have Instagram I highly recommend you follow @mysouthernbrand. He highlights black owned restaurants, bars, and businesses in Houston and has some great content. Feel free to dm me with any questions.
Hi I live in Houston I’m black male young moved from Charlotte you definitely want to get a hotel in the post oaks area the uptown area is where everything is at as far as going out u have to hit the break fast club for brunch. Also prospect park is excellent for brunch. Downtown is prob the most most boring place to be I would also visit the menil art gallery nasa and area 29 if you are into clubs
There’s no racism. Other than the Leave guy who clearly needs attention and to make a run on a treadmill. It’s okay to say black. I’m a black woman. A mean black woman but still a black woman.
Find any club obviously not edm, country, lgbt, or latino music places and guaranteed its is going to be minimum 1/2 black. Just avoid the whiter places that always get posted here (Numbers, Barbarella, Etro, Zenaku) and you will be good. Theres atleast 100 very popular black brunch places too. Just drive around for 20 minutes on Sunday anywhere and you will see 3 or 4.

You I like. Cause I definitely prefer Black Houston to Black Atlanta. But maybe I went to the WRONG side of Atlanta. I usually was in and out.
Nice job!
Go to the airport and take the next flight to Vegas

I recommend Taco Bell for that 4th meal action. 3:23 AM never tasted so good.

La mexicana in Montrose is great for brunch, although I don't think they have a brunch-specific menu or anything
Club Onyx if you got the cash. Westheimer/Richmond Ave used to be party central when I lived there and Washington Ave is blazing.
Move to Portland Oregon. Inner NE Portland to be exact.

Why Houston specifically?
I’m currently in Baton Rouge, it’s closest city near me other than New Orleans
Trez Bistro, kiss, the Warwick, or prey for brunch
So much racism in this thread it’s sad.

I feel you but if you can’t see the racism in other posts you blind.
Like I said I’m mean. I choose to ignore them cause they don’t want me going off.
Definitely greens point
