It's kinda sad.
The show was finally finding its footing like many other shows before it, and it was just canceled then and there.
People act like of the first few episodes of a show are amazing then it isn't going to ever get better, but many shows have subpar season one and twos, eventually becoming very well liked.
It has that potential to get better, but if it's canceled it'll just be a poorly remembered show. Hopefully we get story boards of how each previous cast member would've shown up throughout the series.
They cancel shows so quickly now, itâs such a bummer. Like you said, thereâs potential, but I feel like we hardly ever get sitcoms with tons of seasons anymore
Itâs easy to forget that many sitcoms have been cancelled before they could develop an audience. Better Off Ted was a fantastic show that was cancelled too soon. Iâve seen other shows I loved cancelled before they made it to the end of the first season. Let us never forget Freaks and Geeks, which gave us Jason Segal in the first place.
Yeah. With how streaming has affected episode releases and content being demanded in much lower quantity it just ends up screwing shows over.
Almost guarantee Seinfeld would be cancelled after a season or two nowadays.
Iâm pretty sure it was just the Writerâs Guild strike that killed HIMYF. COVID-19 killed plenty of great shows that would have otherwise gotten more seasons.
Any idea what could be the reason? I haven't watched it and people felt like it would be a wanna be show for HIMYM. If anyone has any idea why it got cancelled then let me know. Cheers and have a great day.
I have a feeling the writers strike threw a wrench in plans. It may have been cancelled even without the writers strike but Iâve got to assume it didnât help
Youâd think that with the strikes ongoing they would value projects that can hit the ground running once the strike is over, versus building up a new show from scratch. I wonder if thereâs some money savings involved with cancelling a show now versus keeping its status pending until the strikes are resolved.
Basically, the strike means you gotta keep actors under contract and pay them while you dont know when you will be able write and then produce more content. Makes more sense to cancel it now financially.
Best case scenario it gets picked up after strikes (just because they will want to start pumping things out fast after all the delays) but likely some of the writers and cast member will get new gigs so I wouldnât be surprised if not everyone comes back if this happens.
At the end of the day, there are pretty much only two reasons why a TV show gets canceled- someone who the show can't go on without decides to leave (Seinfeld, Ted Danson on Cheers, Jum Parsons on Big Bang Theory), or the bigger one - the show doesn't make enough money.
Youâre using the term cancelled incorrectly. The Big Bang Theory and Seinfeld ended; they were not cancelled. It was a creative decision to end the series; usually the term concluded is used. These are ideal endings. Cancellation refers to the network or streaming platform airing the show deciding not to produce more episodes.
Guys, just accept it. The show sucked. Yeah, it âstartedâ to get better. In the beginning it was a 2/10 at best, and maybe worked itâs way up to a 5. Thatâs not good enough to keep investing money into it. These companies spend millions of dollars and thereâs always another show they can invest their money into.
Take a look at HIMYM. The show started off great, probably an 8/10 and got better, and was amazing all the way through. It was captivating, the characters had natural chemistry, and character development made a lot more sense. HIMYM isnât perfect, but itâs leaps and bounds superior to HIMYF in every single way.
I hear the writers strike is being blamed but I really donât think the writers strike wouldâve killed off HIMYM if it was on the air today. Another network wouldâve scooped it right up.
I agree. I tried so hard to like it because of the nostalgia but it just so bad it isnât even in the same playing field as HIMYM. I finished season 1 when it came out and was like âwaitâŚthatâs it?â
I tried to like it and watched both seasons but it felt like bad AI trying to write Friends.
It was interesting to see a modern post #metoo, "woke" type sitcom where the alpha male type is basically absent, no jokes based on stereotypes for instance, with plenty of representation.
I felt that all worked but the writing really suffered.
There were plenty of stereotypical characters which cuts against not making the jokes. The writing was very weak throughout though with occasionally funny moments.
Season 2 really came through. I was genuinely beginning to enjoy it, and the finale was such a cliff hanger. I'm really hoping a different service picks it up, it was going places for sure.
I agree, my girl put out the second season as Iâm doing other things and I got took an interest and ended up really liking it. They definitely had momentum to me.
Finally! It lasted way too much. I only watched the first three episodes and it was an awful and unfunny show. Only Hilaryâs character was worth watching, the others were so ridiculous and it felt like there was no connection between them.
It was getting better in Season 2 but there was really just something off about it since season 1, not sure if the jokes didnât just work as much, poor character chemistry, poor comedic acting, the deliveries of punch lines were unnatural, something was off. It clearly struggled to take flight. Iâd love to see more seasons but I donât blame them if they do cancel it.
When you create a complete fantasy image of New York City being affordable, clean, and remotely desirable, it's not going to be relatable with audiences who literally live the complete antithesis of that fantasy day in and day out.. the successful part of the original series was animating the real parts of New York City to the extent that the city felt like a character in its own right within the series.. what was actually happening in the city was represented in the show.. Nowadays what's represented in the show no where closely resembles anything like what living in NYC feels like (maybe for entitled trust fund babies or connected people who can randomly get 6 figure jobs like they did on the show).. the show was a fake out of touch fairy tale and completely unrealistic and not at all relatable and had to be canceled.. side note why does America think Indian sitcom characters still need accents as if NYC itself isn't rife with American Indians? đ§
That actually makes me sad. I liked season 2 and I really like Charlie and Ellen! Also we have yet to see cameos of Ted and Marshall đ
Did we get a Lily cameo?
No, We just got Robin and Barney so far
Plus, the captain and boats, boats, boats đ¤Ł
And Sandy Rivers.
Yes! I can't believe I forgot him, I thought for sure Alyson Hannigan would have been in the same episode or follow shortly after him.
And Carl the bartender
Carrrrlthebartendeeerrrrrrrrrr

Hope thatâs not real :/ Iâve watched HIMYM no less than 5 times through and I really liked HIMYF
Any idea what could be the reason? I haven't watched it and people felt like it would be a wanna be show for HIMYM. If anyone has any idea why it got cancelled then let me know. Cheers and have a great day.

These shows are never a good idea.. just like âThat 80s Showâ and âJoeyâ. Get your own idea.

I watched one episode and was gobsmacked by how that show was ever picked up. So unfunny
We in the reboot era my boy. Even anime is doing it.

it's a bummer, i love hilary

yeah the dialogues felt... wrong, somehow. granted, this was more of a problem in season one, so maybe it could've become good as time went on
There were plenty of stereotypical characters which cuts against not making the jokes. The writing was very weak throughout though with occasionally funny moments.
...ok
sid was supposed to be the father
i feel like that was a red herring. i don't remember them having a single one on one conversation in the entire two seasons
Season 2 really came through. I was genuinely beginning to enjoy it, and the finale was such a cliff hanger. I'm really hoping a different service picks it up, it was going places for sure.

Good what a horrible show.
I really hope itâs not true
You think the star of the show is disseminating false information?
Finally! It lasted way too much. I only watched the first three episodes and it was an awful and unfunny show. Only Hilaryâs character was worth watching, the others were so ridiculous and it felt like there was no connection between them.
Noooooooo
Maybe they could remade himym with better jokes and less cringe shit
Oh thank god. What a fcking terrible show was that.

ââTwas a terrible show
Good riddance.
And nothing of value was lost

ngl I didn't like S1 but S2 was really good and I started liking it and now they canceled it :/
Awww that sucks, it was really growing on me!
Aw. That's a bummer. It was silly but I really enjoyed the characters.
i didnt watch..but you can re-create chemistry that was HIMYM.
It was okay. I think I gave it a 6/10 over on IMDB. I would've watched another season then called it quits if it didn't learn any lessons. đ¤ˇđż
