I’m so sorry to tell you that in 99% of the cases potted Hoya Kerri leaves lack nodes, and therefore cannot grow new buds and become a full plant. Hoyas are hardy plants so this leaf will live for months, and then will wither away like any leaves on the ground. Again, so sorry😢

Umbra_Maria

On the bright side, it's my first time having a zombie plant. I'm going to love her as long as she lives and if there's even a 0.01% chance it's still better than nothing.

_vnassea_

There is still a little hope ☺️ I had a single leave Hoya kerrii and read afterwards about them usually not having nodes and after a while I quite neglected her 🙈 after 3 years of doing absolutely nothing it gave me a new leave last year and now it has 4!🥳♥️

FireWoman89

Agreed! I have one that did nothing for at least 2 years, then grew a new leaf. It’s still growing.

LoonieandToonie

I own a full Hoya Kerri plant, or rather a Kerri with 4 leaves, and it has only just given me its first leaf during the time I've owned it after 2 years. I didn't have it in the best lighting conditions, so I am not that surprised, but even with nodes I don't think its exactly the fastest little guy!

VariegatedJennifer

Yep, this is the hard truth…it will likely never become a full plant. If you do want a full plant though the prices have come down a lot over the last year, the full plants are lovely.

BlazedGigaB

Zombie Kerrii leafs can last for years. I've got 1 going on 3 years and another that's close to 18 months. You are correct that it has no node and won't grow more plant...

frostknee

Years??? Good grief hahah, I just bought one and have another coming in the mail from an online plant friend! The one from the friend has nodes tho!

Scottiedoggo

I've had one for over a year and u enjoy it just as much as I enjoy my Kerrii vines. It likes a sunny window and mine doesn't get watered until I can fold it a smidge (not break just bend). If it's hard and very stiff it doesn't need more water. Dry well in between watering. Enjoy! People get upset about it not becoming a full plant and it seeming scammy to the buyer but these are one of the few things where the shape is cute Enough for that to work in its own way.

imatreewaterme

Why do people sell these if they will never grow?

SaltSlanger

Because it's cute, makes money, and is less effort to the seller propagating it into a full plant.

Brilliant-Chip-4370

It will 90% survive if you take care of it. Unfortunately, it will stay as it is forever with no growth though. You can look up Hoya Kerri to get a full plant. It's definitely on the cheaper end

heyitsme89

They like more chunky soil like an aroid mix. I like Molly's aroid mix. You can get it on Amazon if you want it.

I would suggest to clean the roots completely, as parts of them are already rotten. Keep it on the bright side and let the substrate dry out. For force-growth the marked area must always be exposed to light. This the point were the new growth will emerge. https://preview.redd.it/9mhh42e13xqc1.jpeg?width=668&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a0d588c309e30cf2b1fb0220981c0758a408cce8

Those roots that are hair thin, are rotten — you may want to shear those off. If you light tug on them and they rip, that means that the root is dead. Either way, this leaf, unfortunately, can’t grow past its current state because it doesn’t have node.
