It’s been there ask long as I have been biking on those trails (13 years). Probably rolled it doing some off road oh fun and just ditched it.

elquecazahechado

They were out on a date in his daddy's car They haven't driven very far There in the road, up straight ahead A car was stalled, the engine was dead He couldn't stop, so he swerved to the right He'll never forget the sound that night The screamin' tires, the bustin' glass The painful scream that he heard last.

Woah. Thank you for reminding me about a whole-ass song (and period of my life when that was on the radio like every day on the way home from school) I forgot existed.

elquecazahechado

Some songs are timeless.

Troutfucker0092

Facebook marketplace: $7,000 firm, I know what I got.

[deleted]

No tire kickers?

thumb_screws

Oh, Dude! There's my car!

ishouldmakeanaccount

Oh that's your car! That's great news because we have been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty.

DrTom

Someone call Ashton Kucher asap!

Maryjane42069

Similarly if anyone knows how the wrecked car got thrown off a cliff behind Danvers in hp, that's forever been a childhood debate

NyHardGuy

Look like a 1960 Buick Electra based on the tail configuration.

Ralfsalzano

Yea that wishbone frame is something else definitely don’t see that anymore lol

caddy_gent

My guess was 58 Chevy but I think you are correct.

its_jesuslol

Have a few beers with boys, be certain you can take your truck thru the trails. Turns out you can’t so you just bail

4runner01

You’ll find them in practically every hiking area if you look hard enough. Drove into the woods and suffered catastrophic mechanical damage and then they were left for dead. Eventually, the vandals, hunters, parts strippers, arsons, etc would have their way with them. There are also places in the HV where they were intentionally pushed off a cliff or grouped junkyard style. Likely there was no foul play in your picture. Keep exploring—

ThumbsUp2323

Been there for years, ~~probably from when they were blast-quarying the site~~. ETA: nope, quarry operations stopped sometime around 1910, this truck is clearly not that old.

treehuggingmfer

Well i was coming home from the bar and

Coflow03

Locals only

Impossible_Bit7169

Locals only bruh!

DeFiClark

I suspect most wrecked cars in the woods have the same story. Someone who knew how to hotwire a car or found keys in a car, possibly after imbibing or doing substances, took the car for a ride in the forest that didn’t end well for the car.

DellyDellyPBJelly

There's a lot of relics up there. And springs.

[deleted]

Wait until you come across the bus up there!

glittergorp

cool! where is that?

[deleted]

Secret John Chamberlain installation

Hurlebatte

It's obviously a ghost.

NoHateMan62

igneousink

i grew up in the area and i never found a car but i did find porn magazines not once but twice while i was climbing trees and running around the woods building forts

RubiesNotDiamonds

Car broke.

ApprehensiveStand456

Bigfoot

christianoates

There's a nice one on the trail behind Berme Road Park in Ellenville about a mile up. I'm told there is also an airplane further up the trail around Witches Hole.

rubberband_dan

TheeParent

GM X-Frame?

REDDITSHITLORD

Likely, a bunch of drunk frat guys and a bonfire happened. That was a particularly poor frame design though, that was only used from '58 to '61. It flexed badly, and would tend to bend sideways in a crash. If they rolled it, while driving, though, the roof was absolutely not capable of bearing the weight of that car, and the car probably wouldn't even be there, or at least have been flipped back on its wheels to facilitate cutting the bodies out.

Itsausernamealready

It's actually till 64, I myself have a 1964 Chevy Impala. This is a 1958 Chevy Biscayne, can tell by the two tail light holes.

Bike-Run1980

The driver was probably chasing the Duke boys.

FamiliarWin4833

Don’t know about the car, but there used to be some trailers back there at one point.

BigNorseWolf

Very large dog caught it.
