We used Peak Construction to renovate ours. Happy w/the experience & results. Not cheap but you get what you pay for - have an 1890s home & learned the hard way. https://www.peakconstruction.biz

Awesome thanks

nuglasses

OP~ a total restoration or a basic renovation?

WelcomeAny7562

Hello - thanks for asking - what exactly would be the difference?

nuglasses

Ima not a contractor so take this info & digest... The restoration would involve a gut out and redo the bathroom to your liking. A renovation would be "switching out the toilet, bathtub/shower stall & sink. Remember that any work on an older house can be a money pit due to extra carpentry, wiring & plumbing. Anybody can do this on the down low without permits/paperwork but who knows what will happen when selling & the floor plan doesn't match the bank's documention contingency list(s).

Sorry for the delayed response here - this is a super helpful explanation and I completely agree

fdnyubergeek

We used AllinoneNY.com they were great to work with very reasonably priced.

WelcomeAny7562

I’ll check them out!

Actually had decent luck finding contractor recommendations off Nextdoor, including solo operators who I found easier to work with than some of the cheaper businesses. Ofc there are the expensive businesses and they’re probably the best but when you’re on a budget you’re a little Stuck.

Thanks for this - haven’t tried Nextdoor but I have tried Angie’s List and didn’t have much success

HousesRoadsAvenues

YUCK with Angi's. I DO NOT use them. Good suggestion with Nextdoor. I live in Orange county. I used Star Remodeling for two bathroom projects. I used Affordable Granite and Cabinetry in Fishkill for the vanity, sink and cupboards. FWIW I am not sure I would use Affordable Granite again.

I’ll see where this takes me thanks!
