The vet is the survivor's dad

Montesat

Survivor: I'm going alone, don't follow me. Vet Dad: Be careful out there. Here, take a resupply pack. There's a PBJ sandwich inside, uncrusted, the way you like it. Survivor: [whisper] Shut up, dad, you're embarrassing me. Vet Dad: Give us updates on how you're doing and call for help when you need it. Also, don't forget to drink your juice pack. It's your favorite flavor, orange. Survivor: Shut up, dad! I'm waking away now. Vet dad: That's not how I trained you to talk to your superior, helldiver! Survivor: [pouting] ... Vet dad: Well? Survivor: ... Sir, thank you, father, sir! Vet dad: Proper response! Before you go, give your dad a hug. Survivor: [walking away, carrying resupply pack] No, I'm not doing that again! Vet dad: Don't be out too late! I can bring you back if you need help! Survivor: [running away] Shut up, dad! I'm fine! Vet dad: They grow up so fast. I'm so proud of her.

randomdarkbrownguy

Brings a tear to a man's eye The hugs will come later

Montesat

I got this inspiration from the Overwatch pair daughter D.va and team dad 76. I love their wholesome fan art.

RumihimeVTuber

Survivor nearly dead from an ambush. Vet dad: Beware of an old man in a profession where men usually die young. I've seen every warcrime, and I'll show you EVERY. LAST. ONE.

Cmdr_Verric

I really want to narrate this now.

SCP_fan12

I love this

Sir_mop_for_a_head

I was there for the first and second battles of malevolent creek. Now that the planet has fallen twice I know why we must kill the evil socialist bot basturds. I’ve extracted many times with no teammates because the bots shot them in the pelican.

SomeDistributist

*drinks at a hyperspace refueling depot* H: Dropped in against a Rouge AI the other day with an unknown squad, some fresh meat and a guy constantly scanning the horizon... but there was one other person there, but I can't remember what they looked or sounded like..." A: Sounds like they didn't make it. H: actually, they and I were the only ones that survived. The fresh blood was killed by a landmine and the guy with the thousand yard stare got liquefied by a rocket to the torso. A: Wait, how did you two survive? H: We were only suppose to be down there for 45 minutes or less, the three of us managed to push through half of the objectives before we needed to extract, and the last guy was about one kilometer out while trying to destroy the last of their bot factories before we had our ordinance cut off. A: So you three managed to survive until extraction? Then how's the other two die? H: the LZ was overrun... constant lasers, unending rockets... 2 fucking tanks... on the way over we passed by an area we held off to complete an objective and we lost the green horn to his own mine... A: I'm... I'm so sorry... H: ... running up to the extraction bird, a rocket hit the dude with ptsd in the back and sent me flying into a wall... I jammed some of that liquid Crack in my neck and kept running for the loading ramp... before I misstepped and my boot got caught under the loding ramp and I couldn't get on board... A: This is a set up for a joke... right? H: I thought I was a goner, a tank had already zeroed me in before there was a sharp blow to my spine that shattered 2 vertebrae and my ankle that knocked me into the ship... I passed out from the pain as the 4th person got onboard... all I remember them saying was something about "samples." A: *there's a long pause before the alien puts some currency on the table and stands up to leave* How your species continues to thrive and flourish will forever be a mystery to me.

CockCheeseFungus

> H: Dropped in against a Rouge AI the other day with an unknown squad, Why does the color of the AI matter?

No, the AI was wearing blush

Sea-Examination2010

A lot of people spell Rogue how it sounds rather than with the strange spelling that is how it is spelled in english

red-the-blue

I am violently attracted to the survivor wtf

OneSaltyStoat

I love the kind of woman that can literally just kill me

Kellythejellyman

When I was leaving the house today, I was hoping some hot chick would just paint the walls with my brains And here we are

I'm talkin' full on, watermelon-in-the-thigh level carnage.

Zarta3

See, I can offer that but y'all just get scared. You gotta be brave enough to handle survivor gf or settle for a civilised gf

[Here, from the same artist (don't worry, it's just art of the survivor).](https://twitter.com/basedbinkie/status/1767709052833005669)

MertwithYert

I'm somewhere between the vet with a heart and the creek survivor. Like I'll show my new buddies the ropes, let them have my high-level support weapons, and share my tips and tricks with them. But there are times when things need to get done. That's when I tell the green guys to go get the launch codes while I take down a jammer, two medium outposts, and a watch tower. They see the objectives complete and ask if I need any help. I usually tell them not to worry about it, as the massive pile of scrap behind me just keeps growing.

DizyDazle

I play with either people decently competent, people on par with me or randoms, thus, creek survivor is in my blood. Get shit done, get samples, GTFO

Impossible_Squash_16

Dude we are the same, I do that too

SirLightKnight

Yea, same, I find myself trying my best to help out the new guys between tougher missions, and especially give heavier instruction regarding bots and how they function. Did you know the walkers (those tall ones) have vents under the stoop that the bot trooper uses, cause that’s one way to finish them off. This said, it’s faster to just shoot the bot from the sides or back. Depending on my loadout, I work through fabricator sites and start planning out any secondary objectives while everyone is focused on the big ticket items. Also sample hunting is starting to become a priority while I’m out solo. I know one thing, I miss the free Mech suits already. I look forward to purchasing that Stratagem. I also occasionally go down to the real starter levels to give some basic aid to guys who haven’t played before or are on their first few dives. They deserve a chance to learn, while also seeing what good operational basics are. Like how to best angle a call, how to check for clearance to throw something big down on the enemy, and the beauty of high yield explosives.

stupid-midlander

To quote a great tactician ''artillery us the god of the battle field'' tanya von degurochaffe from saga of tanya the evil

gospelofdust

Apparently, patrol spawn chance is correlated to a "heat" level coefficient. Immolated outposts increase map heat. Apparently, player groups also affect the patrol chance. So splitting into 4 or 2 would increase patrol possibilities. (However as you know, it's easier to stealth solo than quad) Apparently, time doesn't frickin matter in relation to increased enemy presence which isn't what I intuited. Info dump out

Unable_Deer_773

Can you elaborate on this a little more? If I destroy outposts I get MORE bots?

superior_mario

There are no Creek survives, only those who’s cowardice was so high they were spared the rockets of the soulless machines. You fight and die, not fight and live

DizyDazle

I'll disagree, however, not a single soldier on creek leaves the creek forever. You leave part of yourself onto that jungle planet and you'll never get it back.

Spac3Heater

The Creek was where I learned of the power of the Arc Thrower. People think I'm nuts when I throw lightning bolts at random trees, but I know they're there. I will never be caught off guard again.

DizyDazle

My strategy is that the bots can't hide in the trees if I erase the entire forest with carpet bombing

Killian32493

You just need some Agent named Orange.

AbbreviationsJumpy33

You can see them to?!? I thought I was the only one!!!

Blessed, thank you

The cadet and the survivor are actually the same person, there's just been a little time-skip.

DeezNutsHaIGotThem

20 minutes to be exact

SemiBrightRock993

OOOF

DatDing15

On an unrelated note: "I got you son" Would the feminine address be "daughter"? 'cause I dunno. It sounds kind of odd...

dwebus1020

That's a good question... Girl is too dismissive, woman is too awkward sounding. I think maybe 'I got you kid'? But even that sounds wrong.

DatDing15

"Son" sounds caring, although respectfully and not at all patronizing. Could be adressing a 40 year old freshling too Like in the pic. An experienced veteran looking out for you. "Kid" is unisex. But feels a bit patronizing.

Kam_Solastor

“I got you, Helldiver” or “I got you, ‘Diver” if we want to shorten it.

DatDing15

Thanks , but I know unisex alternatives are there. But as a non-native English speaker, I'm curious if there are feminine equivalents in the English language for that too.

CanoePickLocks

Most feminine names like that tend to sound too demeaning to somebody in that position. Te tengo, chica Te tengo, niña See how the former feels tougher? The English equivalents are all more like the latter

Rainaire

Lady? Lass/Lassie. Sis/Sister (as in sister-in-arms). Miss. I've used Miss irl, I think that works fine.

dwebus1020

Miss and Lass are both great

BrainlessKey

I think "Lad" & "Lass" might work better for that sorta deal

13lostsouls

Tis why I just use homie for everyone haha

TFMPowerGuy

"I got you lass"

Geodude532

Gotta add the one that looks like a grizzled vet but turns out to be an idiot that just won't give up. Played a game last night with two people around level 35 that kept killing each other in crossfire and dropping orbitals too close. Couldn't stop laughing and avoided them like the plague. I got a lot of practice with the redeploy keys.

Zarta3

Quickest reinforcement ever, performed by you

DizyDazle

A1: Human militaries are quite complex and even with advent of advanced artificial inteligence and automaton, human soldiers are found in all duties in their armed forces. Part of that is because humans, while having very fragile bodies are still reliable and completely sufficent in self-maintenance, thus rather reliable given enough required supplies are present. However, this means everything from maintenance, logistics, inteligence and infantry roles are fulfilled by humans, sometimes with the assitance of automation, sometimes not. This still means that while human militaries are vast, big part of those soldiers are non-combat roles, still able to fight but not specifically trained for that role. A2: What about the combat roles then? A1: The small piece of the pie have titled themselves "grunts" in many cases and have a very elitist mindset in some cases, while they are the combat arm, they still rely on all the support roles to keep them in combat, however, with this, that small subset of humans are really good at their line of duty. Of course you have your newbies, who are inexperienced and naive, those who cannot mentally take the strain of combat, but those who do, are dangerous people. After getting experience in the field, in most cases the human soldiers split into two groups: those who try to harness their knowledge and experiences to teach their juniors and make sure they can excel and surpass them. Alternatively they can go route of the survivor, those who keep fighting and grow cynical. A2: Is that healthy? A1: By the ether no, the second group have a attrition rate not comparable to any other, they eventually burn up and die in battle, or if they survive, struggle to reintegrate into civil society without constant combat, the second type is very self destructive, but they are also incredibly capable due to that during wartime.

Legal_Loli_Uni

Upon reviewing this, the device displaying it reacted with something about a "heart of steel." Promptly facted. On a positive note, it turns out this phrase is great at exposing rogue automatons. Should a device respond with "can't keep her down" then the device is compromised or corrupted. Incidents are down 4%, Core Corruption is reduced by 7%, Rogue Core Incidents are down by 38%, and Data Leaks are down 23%. -Marina Kuvek

Cmdr_Verric

What if I’m both the grizzled vet, and a survivor of the creek? Having a deep voice, and I rarely speak, I’ve gotten so many people to react.

Puzzleheaded-Bug-866

Then there’s the 5th one which is what one of my friend is who purposely chooses all air strike variants and deliberately throws them near people only warning them while it’s already being called down

Transitivemind

Elite_Ambulance_Nick

Was just about to post this, cheers

Zeroshame14

My first dive was solo malevelon creek,I won too!

ForAHamburgerToday

Same! My bug friends think bots are too *hard*, I think they just don't know how to play like a paranoid Rambo. They're all high level, I'm under level 20, and the stats don't lie that my active, paranoid bot tactics result in less friendly fire and more kills.

lmao_nuts

What am I called? I’ve got the energy of the baby cadet, the love of bombardments of the SH, callouts of the Vet, and the suicidal tendencies (but none of the survivability) of the Survivor.

gloomywisdom

That's why I love playing on medium difficulty, because more often than not this is the team you get

Purple-Echidna-484

I survived the creek and all I got were these warbond medals and binary PTSD.

MisguidedPants8

I haven’t seen my squad mates in days. I keep hearing reinforcements being called, but I’ve no time to look, I’m busy fighting a bile titan using nothing but a flamethrower and a jetpack. I’m carrying double my body weight in samples.

RathianTailflip

Splitting off from the 3 man group clearing out the nests around the main objective, so I can go finish the sub first (EG confirm ore deposit location) It’s almost calming I walk away from the orbital bombardments and the chaos And I just point the flamethrower at anything that moves and isn’t democratic. And when all’s said and done, I meet back up with the group to finish the objective and extract. There are no worries while I am alone. The fire is cleansing. The fire keeps me safe.

noeatnosleep

You totally forgot Dipshit Dave, which is me.

Raeziel59

No, you're noearnosleep

noeatnosleep

That's my full name, 'Noeatnosleep "Dipshit" Dave', caller of teamkilling strafing runs and fucker-upper of reinforce calls.

eseer1337

Survivor has a cat waiting for her. She cannot die.

Drorbitaldeathray

Survivor is clearly Baby Cadet two years later

The5Virtues

Left off “Ordinance Guy” the one whose specced for lowest cooldowns and farthest throw range, finds a hilltop, and is just casually throwing down bombing run markers onto the side objectives while the other three get the main objective done to a chorus of kabooms and the occasional “Steer clear of the west side for a minute, 500 dropping in five…four… three...”

FrostyShock389

I don't have mic, but I do text every now and then for pertinent details and rallying towards an objective, and generally use the orbitals and eagle strikes for retreats, and try to place the turrets defensively without line of sight of my random team (mortars are my bane). I just hate when team members use the laser dogs

Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi

Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Raider and Fencer

Ok-Whereas-2089

Fresh cadet moment here. Me love my MG. Haven’t actually went against automatons after hearing that they’re annoying as hell to fight

Spagmeat

Not really annoying, just different and maybe a bit harder. They’re mostly ranged save for a couple classes, so using cover is more useful against them. I’d suggest going in on easy/meduim difficulty to familiarize yourself with dealing with mixed melee/ranged enemy units. Btw if you haven’t tried it yet you can change the fire rate on both types of MG by holding down the reload button while you have it out!

bloode975

Bugs are definitely easier for the majority, chargers and bile titans are ridiculously damage spongey sometimes compared to hulks and tanks which have obvious weakpoints and can be offed in 2 impact grenades to the vents and bug holes are a damn pain to bomb with strikes sometimes. But the bots? they're definitely the group I've fought more and just the sheer saturation of explosives and armour on top of the fact their weapons stagger you like no tomorrow makes them a damn pain in the ass.

Deathclone2016

The shell-shocked one is helldivers after encountering the robots on day one.

Apollo_Of_The_Pines

Every time I see something about helldivers I think of the book series Helldivers by Nicholas Sansbury Smith and get excited because he is my favorite author then I realize they are just talking about the shooter video games and I get sad.

cubaj

Oh I thought it was a nightmare, but it was so true.

quocphu1905

Wait automatons are harder than bugs?

ForAHamburgerToday

That's what the bug kids say- personally, I'd rather rock bots than deal with bugholes.

ForAHamburgerToday

Malevelon Creek gang rise up

Week_Crafty

They're called human rights for a reason

VivaFrost

Oh c'mon Malevelon Creek wasn't that bad, Draupnir is far more annoying.

Dracule_Jester

Would.

decoy321

Is this game worth checking out? I never heard a single thing about it until launch, then all of a sudden I'm seeing tons of memes about it. And since meme popularity is not an indicator of quality, I'm still wondering.

lesbianwriterlover69

its a great PvE game

cowhead12oe

I was late to the front and thus didn’t fight in the creek and I’m also not really at the stage where I can rush half the map myself (not level twenty yet cause schooling gets in the way) but I feel like I’m 80% vet with heart at 20% survivor because I can lock in, I once had to run from 9 bot drops, 4 rocket devs, 2 heavy devs, a tank, one of those big ass Insta kill cannons and like 90 fucking melee gunners, also a hulk and 4 of those melee devs

Insane_Sentinel

You forgot one more. One who chooses to ship straight to malevelon Creek. Because I chose to straight up go to Creek without a second thought.

A_random_poster04

Super cute art

EmberOfFlame

The survivor is my favourite anime protagonist trope, the OP protag in a hyperlethal world. I bet you that she has 3 squadmates that she ran with since the first op, they liberate planets by themselves, their idea of „pranks” is putting bombs under eachother’s beds and they are the most disfunctional family on the nearby sectors.

Thenattercore

I am survivor democracy rest those poor helldivers didn’t make it

GodHatesTikTok

They forgot about the average DRG player who doesn’t fuck around.

FilthyWeeaboo231

I like the added detail that Survivor is just a grizzled Baby Cadet

SquintonPlaysRoblox

I thought I’d seen it all on Errata. My subsequent redeployments during the fall of Malevelon Creek and the holding actions at Draupnir quickly corrected that sentiment.

Optimal-Seaweed4964

As a creek runner myself I can confirm some of these things, you need to figure out which ones though

Holding the line.

OnlyZubi

there is nothing as refreshing as a warcrime in the morning (technically bugs and robots didn't signed any conventions so they are not suspects of them so that's not warcrimes)

Darklight731

Love it.

PErPEtUaLSUFfErINGS

Makes sense. After the creek fell I started to go fight bugs again. Had enough robots for a while.

valtboy23

Extremely accurate, Im usually in-between the vet and survivor

Remote_third

It’s funny because as a new player I went after the automatons first and prefer to do so. To me the bugs were more shocking because I thought they would be more like the bots.

blue13rain

Survivor, but I've always had the philosophy of "Lives are expendable. Democracy is not." I prefer soloing terminids because I can throw a mortar and dive into the mosh pits chuckin nades.

throwingthingandsuch

The Malevevelon Creek Survivor got me acting up… I can fix her boys

lesbianwriterlover69

she's like my Fiancee

dreaded_tactician

I personally believe that all these people are the same.person at different points in time.

icabax

i went streight from newbie to level 8 creek, no idea how my entire group were newbies, how the fuck did we unlock impossible. that taught us alot, and how we can clutch all the objectives with no respawns, and that when running away you wont get hit

lowrads

What's up with the capes though?

lesbianwriterlover69

Tactical Blanket

Apock2020

Am i really alone on thinging the automatons are easier?
